Vista Explorer

My explorer (the one that gives the desk top) is wrong way,

It locks completely and requires a reboot. Sometimes all is well for an hour or two, then iexplorer or Firefox crashes, then some time later with the need for a reboot.

Safe Mode and network give the same problem while Safe Mode base is solid and looks OK.

Lost a large number of bits of the system, for example. All the restore points went, the event log is not working + +.

I am wary of a hardware failure, but sfc.exe shows no problem. Defragmentation works OK.

Waiting for ext hdd to save before using the vista installation cd.

Any suggestions?

Hello

1. when the question is is produced?
2. you remember to make changes to your computer before the problem?
3 are you referring to Windows Explorer when you mention "my explore (the one that gives the desk top)?
Follow these steps and check if they help.

Step 1:
Run the "Fixit" from the link given below for automated troubleshooting and fixing the issue.
Step 2:

If it is little help, start your computer in a clean boot state and check if your computer is running normally. Start your computer in a clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. If so, you need to maybe contact the manufacturer of the program for updates or uninstall and reinstall the program.

See the following article in the Microsoft KB for more information on how to solve a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

  • How to make Vista Explorer/folder look like XP Explorer/folder

I love my XP machines. I tried a Vista machine a few times, but could not stand his fanciness. I just bought a new laptop. Vista is the only option for the new laptops at Best Buy and Dell. So now I'm stuck with Vista. I changed the interface classic Windows, removed the sidebar, added all the icons on the desktop, like XP. However, I can't find a way to change the Explorer and folder in the XP-like Explorer and folder.

For everything that Vista offers that I am not fancy, style Vista Explorer and folder structure are the only thing I absolutely can't stand. It makes me dizzy, it moves with the mouse - to above, there is no button to the TOP, the look of crowded folders (not clear from who's who a subfolders). Please, help me find a way to restore the folder from Vista to XP structure. Otherwise, I have to rebuild a new laptop to use XP, and I don't want to do if I have an easier choice.

    Thank you!!

    Hello XP user,.

Thank you for posting.  There is no way to get Explorer from Vista to have the folder structure of the Explorer in XP that you are interested in using the features and tools in Vista.  You maybe able to do it with the 3rd party tools and/or applications.

  • Selection of Vista Explorer by default file extension: this can be changed?

By default, in the Vista Explorer, when you select a file name, the file extension is excluded. This behavior can be changed?

    Thank you.

    François

To see file extensions, go to start / Control Panel / folder options / view and presented the box Hide extensions of known file types.  This way you will always be able to see the file extensions.  I have no idea why that is enabled by default because it is very useful and I would even say that it is important.

If you have disabled (or if it's on, incidentally) and you rename a file without the extension, it will lose the file extension and won't open because he doesn't know what kind of file it is.  It's yet another reason for the extensions of files to all files are displayed permanently.  You do not want the name of the excluded file because this would mean that you could not change the types of files because the extension is "locked".  As long as you can see and change, there should be no problem.

When you select a file name in the file extension Explorer is excluded only if it is hidden.  Otherwise you can see.  In any case it's there even if you don't see it (unless you have changed the name and does not include the extension in the new name).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Re: The Vista Explorer window minimizes & then optimized yet on satellite

    My laptop in my head!

I need to edit large amounts of photos, but when I try to close each window by clicking on the top of 'x' right - it just minimizes, then optimizes still about 6 times. Quite often, he jumps on in the viewer too.

This also happens on the internet explore and the windows folders. It is so laborious.

    Any ideas?

I'm on Vista (which I hate with a passion). Deeply annoying.

  • Satellite A100-003: the Vista Explorer displays blank DVD

A few months after his dvd player, I bought my laptop started to behave very strange. Right now, most of the cds and dvds that I get is recognised as void by windows Explorer (I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit English, bought with the machine).

The strange thing in the story is that windows Explorer only seemed to have the problem, since other programs such as recorders and media players (VLC, infrarecorder etc.) read and browse the contents of the discs normally. My drive is kept clean and the laptop has never suffered a blow.

I contacted Toshiba support here in Greece and they told me that it is a known problem of Vista with the particular drive and there is nothing I can do about (how do Linux to start?).
Is this only happens to me? All available patches?

In the meantime, follow the steps below.

    Step 1:

There might be a possibility of a conflict of software of third party causing the problem to occur. Test/work around this problem, you can check if the problem persists in aclean boot State.

    Step 2:

If the clean boot does not resolve the problem, perform the System Restore as Lorien has pointed out to the point where the .jpg files were not intoxicated.

  • Vista: Explorer of the window incorrectly sort

When using Vista Home Premium, I find that when I try to sort the information, it is not sort them correctly.  The most obvious example is when I ask him to sort a folder by the Date of the taking or editing, it is not to sort the object correctly, I will find new files to the top and clearly apart from other things that are not close enough to the same date.  Because I watch a lot of photos and go through those, I have to be able to find recent photos taken and quickly.  XP never had this problem, so I wonder why it is on Vista?

  • Explore deleted windows address bar history

I'm looking to remove some items from the address bar (which shows a history of used files and folders) in windows Explorer (not internet explorer) on Vista. All the forums, I've looked at show how using regedit using the keys ending with "typedURLs' 'typedpaths' 'runMRU' and"WordWheelQuery"- for windows OS OTHER THAN Vista. How this is done under vista with these keys do not exist on my computer?

WordWheelQuery is specific to Windows 7 and is historic for typing in the search
boxes. Vista does not keep a story.

RunMRU is valid since Windows 95. This is the story to start - all the
    Run programs - accessories.

TypedPath is specific to Windows 7 and is where it stores what you type in the
    address bar.

TypedURLs is Internet Explorer 4 for Windows Vista.

  • Machines Vista cannot see the rest of the home network

I don't know what's happened recently, but here's the thing.

I have a home network, 1 Vista desktop, 1 Office XP with shared USB attached, 1 drive NAS (running Linux kernel I think). All devices set to the same workgroup 'HOUSE '. Until recently, I could see all the devices in the Vista machine with the selection of 'network' of the Explorer.

Now I see that me, the wireless router, and if I turn it on, an another Vista laptop. The Vista laptop has the same situation - he sees only the vista desktop and router and anything else3.

I can connect to the XP computer manually by entering \\computer_name\external_drive_name and even with the NAS drive. I can't see the with the Vista Explorer.

I can't say exactly when it happened, but is has been in the last month. I see the console of restoration that there is an update Tuesday 4/11, but if I try to restore before this date of restoration fails.

Discovery network, file sharing, etc., are always turned on. I tried to do a complete reset of the router but nothing helped.

FYI - Norton of 365 security card option fortunately shows everything on the network, so I know that all devices are in the same workgroup.

Any advice would be greatly welcome.

I solved the problem with advice from another forum. I forced the desktop computer to become the master browser by setting 'MaintainServerList' in the registry for the 'yes' rather than 'auto '.

I can now see all the connected devices.
