  • Problems to install a downloaded version of Windows Vista Home Basic SP1 on my mac through VMWARE FUSION

    Hi all

I hope you can help as I'm going crazy! It's my first MAC if im a complete noob.

Me being lazy has decided to download Windows Vista Home Basic SP1 from https://emea.microsoftstore.com/UK/DesktopDefault.aspx/tabid-2/ site

It contains 3 files which I had to download separately:

    Vista_HomeBasic_SP1_32bit_English_Download_Part1_66G - 02017.exe

    Boot.wim

    install.wim

Once I had downloaded these. I pulled the top of VMWARE AU12EME 2 but could not detect anything. If I then wacked out on a memory stick and ran the .exe on my windows pc. This integrated then all the files I downloaded a good big folder of Vista.

So once again I pulled up to VMWARE fusion 2.0 but still nothing. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I heard people talking that I need an ISO file? But I searched all files that I downloaded and installed, and there is nothing similar. The only thing I can think is that I need to burn the VISTA folder I extracted from my pc to DVD and try running disk on my Mac. But that would make a difference that I tried to run from my DESKTOP MAC key and memory? In addition, there is no ISO files.

Please HELP I'm worried that I just lost my money!

I did a little research, and it was one of the best hits on How to make Vista DVD bootable with WIM downloaded files that I think sums up your situation.

Because I had the file oscdimg.exe since Install Kit automated (Windows AIK) I gave it a try and it worked.  In other words, by using the folder of Vista and its content that has been created by you run the files you downloaded you should be able to create a Bootable ISO Image, which you can then use to create a DVD, if you have the right software to burn an ISO Image on DVD.  (Maybe you could do this on the Mac) Although if you want to you have even burn the ISO Image to DVD just copy it on the Mac and assign it to the CD/DVD in the settings of Virtual Machines.

Other documents you may find useful: Microsoft TechNet > TechNet Library > Windows > Windows Vista > Windows Vista technical library Roadmap > Windows Vista: deployment > Kit to install Windows Automated (Windows AIK) > Deployment Tools Technical Reference > Command - line Tools Technical Reference > Oscdimg command-line Options

Just to let you know that it took me about 20 minutes to do a search on Google and create the ISO Image and the test that I could start a VM in the Fusion and if you need to download and install the Windows Automated Installation Kit (AIK) to get the oscdimg.exe file it obviously will take you a little longer, but it is doable and the solution vs safer trying to get the file oscdimg.exe or cdimage.exe from a link sent illegally into the file.

In any case the information presented here can solve your problem of creating a Bootable Image DVD/ISO.

    Try the manual installation:

If you have problems to receive the service pack from Windows Update, you can download SP1 as a stand-alone package from the Microsoft Download Center website, and then install SP1 manually.

  • Vista Home Basic - update SP2 fails error 0xc0190005 code

I have and Acer Aspire 5315 with Vista Home Basic installed.

Today I downloaded and started to install SP2 and all seemed well until reboot, where I am treated to a black screen showing what I presume to be names of files or registry entries because they are updated. The line begins by xxxx/64281 and a dewcription who follows between parentheses.

This process never ends because it showing:
    "!! 0xc0190005! 22412/64281 (\Registry\machine\schema\ wcm://Microsoft...) »
The end of this line appears truncated for me so I do not know which file or registry entry that is a failure on.

I tried to repair using startup options and he didn't offer not a choice of restore points, just tells me it is either restore to a previous state (which stops working after about 5 minutes and then he's here doing nothing for so long let him - more than an hour!) or disk errors fixing which translates to reset and the same error once again product.

Safe mode does not start and restore the last good known eventually brings us to square one.

Is there someone who can translate this cryptic error code and point me in the right direction?
Please Don ' t just point me to an article and if you copy and paste a response, at least be so kind enough to make it readable.

Vista SP2 offered to your computer through Windows Update or you try to install manually?

What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?  Who were these applications that run in the background when you tried to install SP2?

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on the computer (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

  • SP1 is not not a proposed update after RESTORATION COMPLETE (?) so I can't access SP2. 5 years old HP 530, 32 bit Vista Home Basic, with original discs.

    • Tries to bring an old HP 530 of 5 years (they called it a Business Notebook (?), with 32-bit Windows Vista Home Basic, back to the original, using the 2 discs that can bring the system up-to-date with updates you're invited.) I don't need to save anything, ALL the files AT ALL.
    • I want to send it back as when I bought it and use the 2 original discs to doneverything and then update it with the updates you are guests.
    • Apparently, I don't know when to press F9 or something else, at what time, or to put the second of the 2 original discs in.  As I understand it, disc #1 is the OS DVD, disc #2 is Application and Driver Recovery DVD (?). Copyright dates on these are 2007 & 2008. Also, I have the product key.
    • I need a COMPLETE tutorial, step by step, that I have tried this 4 times, do not get the hang of it, & of course do not have enough experience in this.  When I THOUGHT that I had just finished, after a multiple-update every day experience, no guests included updated Service Pak 1 (SP1), which I understand is necessary before acquiring Service Pak 2 (SP2). In addition, more my arisen Internet research a small window is to say unable to connect to the page, OPERATION ABANDONED...
    • Should I try to disable (?) Windows Defender before installing the antivirus ESET 6 and Malwarebytes paid version at this thing?       And when can I install these. As soon as I connect to the Internet, updates Windows want to start RIGHT NOW!
    • Would appreciate help with this BEFORE , I take a sledgehammer to that thing, MUCH, thank you VERY MUCH!

Ignore the message about not using a computer.

And 434.5MBs has nothing to do with your having only 1 GB of memory.

434 is the size of the file.

    See you soon.

  • Can I switch to Win 7 SP1 of Vista Home Basic (without Service Pack)?

Hello, currently I run Vista home basic 32-bit without the service Pack installed. I did once try and install but I got was a never-ending startup sequence (the BONES do not start) and I had to restore a backup copy of previous Vista before installing SP1. So it's just a quick question: can I go directly to Win 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1 without having all the service packs currently? I don't have a lot of free time to do a clean install and restore programs and games, and configure them.

Microsoft recommends that you have at least Service Pack 1 installed.

You can try to install without MS, if you wish.

And if you have a problem, follow this information.

Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, first of all the installation of SP1.
