No sound - Pavilion m7480n.

I had to use my recovery disk because my PC wouldn't start, now I have no sound.

There are 3 disks but the PC was running after the first disk - I wasn't invited to insert the disc 2 or 3. The recovery was for XP, but I have windows 7 installed. I think I must be missing some drivers or something - can anyone help?

Hi Paul,.

The recovery disks have been for XP and I realize I should have sorted the graphics and sound drivers before installing Windows 7. About 10 minutes ago, I solved my problem by going on the Realtek site and download the drivers and also drivers NVIDIA GeForce graphics.

Thanks for posting a solution

Kind regards

Roy

    Hello

Yes, it is possible. Please check this list to find out the card fits your budget. Please also note do not buy card that needs high power (approximately 10w - 15w more your existing card should be ok) otherwise you will have to buy a new power supply.

Right click the speaker in the taskbar icon and select "playback devices".  Double-click the entry 'Speakers and headphones' and in the next window, click the enhancements tab.  In the box containing these improvements, make sure that there is only a tick against "Legalization of Loudness" - remove all others.  Next, click the Advanced tab and make sure that "16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD quality)" watch - if not choose this selection in the drop-down list. • PC Pavilion laptop: no sound on Pavilion g6 after installing the new battery CMOS

I have a Pavilion g6z - 1 d 00 CTO Notebook PC, model A2F43AV number.  It came with Windows 7 Home Premium, and I upgraded the operating system to Windows 7 Pro (64 bit).

The problem is that I did not sound, either through headphones or the speakers even if the Volume is set at 55. I first noticed the audio problem after replacing the CMOS battery, as the laptop is 4 years old and he gave me intermittent wireless connectivity problems.  After installing the new battery CMOS, I noticed the wireless driver was missing and downloaded/installed.  Everything was fine except the audio.  Then I reset the BIOS but nothing there as the BIOS version is v.49, and it is the most recent.

I have also downloaded/installed the driver audio and rebooted the PC.  Still, there is no noise.

Finally, I have checked the audio drivers and the reporting system they work without any problem.

    What should I do next?

    Thanks, Terry

    @Terry57

    Thanks for the reply,

I was under the impression that these links would take you to guide step by step, however, it seems that they do not work,

However, I have provided details below:

To perform a hard reset on a computer equipped with a removable battery, follow these steps:

    1. Turn off the computer.

    2. Remove the computer from the docking station or port replicator.

    3. Disconnect all external devices from devices such as USB, external displays storage devices and printers.

    4. Disconnect the power adapter from the computer.

    5. Remove the battery from the compartment to batteries.

    6. Press and hold button power for about 15 seconds, remove any residual electric charge capacitors that protect memory.

    7. Insert the battery and plug the power adapter into the laptop, but do not connect peripheral devices.

    8. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

    9. If a boot menu appears, use the arrow keys to select start Windows normally and then press the Enter key.

    10. After you have reconnected each peripheral device, run Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to update all device drivers.

To perform a hard reset on a computer equipped with a sealed or non-removable battery, follow these steps:

    1. Turn off the computer.

    2. Remove the computer from the docking station or port replicator.

    3. Disconnect all external devices from devices such as USB, external displays storage devices and printers.

    4. Disconnect the power adapter from the computer.

To perform a system recovery, this link should work: click here

  • Problem of sound with Skype only - HP Pavilion laptop Windows 7 x 64

I have problems with the sound with Skype only - all other software that requires a sound work fine.  I don't hear my correspondent.  My Skype settings seem to agree and I get no error message.

    I run 7 x 64 window.  I have a laptop HP Pavilion G7.

    Any help?

    Hello

Sorry, you have problems. For Windows 7, try this:

Sign in to Skype. Click Tools at the top of the window, and then select Options in the menu drop-down. Click Audio settings in the left pane. Under the speakers, you can:

    • Use the Volume slider to adjust the volume.
    • Click on the arrow down in the drop-down menu to select the appropriate stakeholders.
    • Test the speakers by clicking on the green arrow next to the drop-down list of speakers.
    • Click on the link to make a free test call to make a test call.

It may be a good idea to plug a headset as a test to see if it works. You don't need a headset with a microphone; Just use any headset allows you to listen to your music on your iPod. The nice thing about using a stereo headset is that you can always talk through the microphone on your computer, but only you will hear responses from your correspondents, and is as much your comments.

Skype has a document of support practice that may help you: I can't hear my friend... (Windows desktop) .

And now, the delicate question: it is possible that your friend accidentally cut his microphone? Or what is happening with all of your calls?

  • Pavilion 500-056: accidentally disabled my speakers! sound/no

So here's the scoop. My computer (HP Pavilion 500-056) had been broken for a year now, and I finally fixed and reinstalled windows 10. Everything worked well and I was very happy until I realized that I had no sound coming out of my speakers. Through my process of DIY autour, check the cables and the entry and other output sockets, there seemed to be no problem. I went in the sound mixer, and there, I accidentally disabled my speakers, so they don't pop up on the list more! I have no idea how to turn them on now, and I still have no idea how fix my sound. If someone could help pronto, I would be very happy! Thank you!

    Hello

If they were just disabled, you can re-enable the as follows.

Do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "playback devices".

In the next window, right-click on an empty area and enter a checkmark against "Show disabled devices".

If your speakers are now listed, right-click them, then select activate.

  • HP Pavilion x 360-P1F10UA #ABA: short Popping noise through headphones before playing them all the sounds (brand new HP 13-s128nr with Realtek)

    Hello

I hear a sound of pop via helmet whenever I play music or even he plays Windows system sounds.

The noise is short, it is as if once you plug in your headphones.

I believe that it has something to do with power management, because it seems that the sound system goes offline when nothing is done and once it turns to play something it makes noise.

I found similar questions that people have had to face, but none of the worked for me.

    For example:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-PC-sound-and-audio/HP-Pavilion-G6-2240sq-strange-sound-speaker...

    and

    http://Rog.ASUS.com/Forum/archive/index.php/t-35046.html?s=927083fd01c9f0ec873b7e9e8da8d47e.

I did the online conversations with HP Media, but they were not able to find a solution. What they were doing was to uninstall/reinstall the drivers who did not work for me.

In my view, that it is a software problem.

I didn't expect that from HP, but I feel a little disappointed in my choice. I hope I can fix and not return.

I would be grateful any suggesion.

    Thank you

    Bijan

Hi, I have been looking for a solution to this problem and found that not using the Realtek HD Audio Manager/B & O stop audio popping. The problem with this driver is that it makes the card its close after 10-20 seconds of no audio output in order to save battery power and to our advantage, there is no way to disable this "feature". What you mean, its break-up, is similar to the helmet being handed over to since the restart of the sound card. I see that the audio is not as great after this fix. To do a choice so audio sacraficing a little quality to not burst or better audio quality and popping. I found these steps of the forums hp here, thanks to SteveCT99.

    1. Go to the Windows Device Manager > sound, video and game controllers section.
    2. In the list of the audio device drivers, look for Realtek High Definition Audio.
    3. Right-click and select disable. Down arrow on this driver, indicating it is disabled. (NOTE: at this point, you will not be able to play music files.)
    4. Right click and select Update driver software.
    5. Select Browse my computer for driver software.
    6. Select Let me pick from a list of drivers for devices on my computer.
    7. You should see a window that says Select the driver to install for this hardware device. NOTE: If you see a window that says something like This is the best driver for this device, close the window and repeat steps 4, 5 and 6.
    8. In the scheme box, select Audio device high definition (this is the device driver audio substitute) and click Next.
    9. In the Update driver warning window, click Yes. You should see a confirmation with thehigh definition Audio Device display window. Click on Close.
    10. In the list of drivers of audio device in the section audio, video and game controllers, you will notice that the high definition Audio device now displays instead ofHigh Definition Audio Realtek.
    11. When prompted to restart, click Yes

    I hope this helps!

  • No sound after the s7530n pavilion slimline for Windows 7 RC1 upgrade

I know that Windows 7 is still in version final candidate and so is not taken in charge by Wells, anyone, but I've seen some people have luck on this forum so I'm him kicking.

I have a HP slimline s7530n Pavilion that came with Windows XP Media Center is installed.  I recently upgraded to Windows 7 RC1 (as well as all the other computers in my home) because of the extra boost of incredible performances provided by Windows 7, as well as the best new Media Center.  Unfortunately, while Windows 7 works fine on all my other systems, it fails in two areas on this slimline: it is not up to run Aero/Glass (which is not a problem, do not need glass on this system), but unfortunately the sound work no longer, which is a real disappointment, because Media Center is kinda useless without audio :-)

When I move my mouse over the volume icon in the system tray ToolTip shows "no Audio output device is installed".  When I check under ' audio, video and game controllers "in Device Manager, there is only a single element:"High definition Audio Device", which says that it is working properly.

Steps, I tried to solve the problems:

-J' uninstalled the "High Definition Audio Device" in the Device Manager and rebooted.  It is automatically re - installs, but does not solve the problem.

-J' downloaded the audio driver for Vista for this PC from the HP support page: "Realtek High Definition Audio Driver Update" - sp34998.exe.  I tried to install it directly, but got an error 'failure '.  Then I extracted all the files in a folder, right click on the "setup.exe" inside and set to run in compatibility of Vista and as an administrator, but running mode later, he gave the same "failed" error.  I then uninstalled the driver "High definition Audio Device" in Manager of peripheral and before restart, run sp34998 (in Vista compatibility and as administrator mode) configuration file, and this time installed without error.  He then asked to reboot.  After reboot, Windows 7 automatically reinstalled the driver of "High definition" Audio Device as before, and I'm back to square one, still no sound, even if "RealTek High Definition Audio Driver" does not in Add/Remove programs in Control Panel.

-J' I uninstalled RealTek Vista driver and the "high definition Audio Device", then downloaded the original XP driver: ' Summer 2006 Original high definition Audio Drivers Realtek '-sp26730.exe the HP support page.  Same experience driver Vista, with some slight differences - even if I extracted the files, and then told the setup.exe to launch in Windows XP SP2 and administrator mode, that it fails eventually, but with messages such as "cann't find Match RealTek HD Audio Inf file!  (Yes, it's accurate, complete with broken and misspelled grammar "Cann't" error message).

So I'm puzzled - I should anticipate problems with Windows 7 for embedded with audio systems, but my old Dell laptop for 6 year, works very well with Windows 7 and it has integrated everything (same course glass!), so if anyone has any advice I'm all ears.

    Thank you!

and don't you know - after that for troubleshooting like a week and a half, I finally posted my question on this forum in desperation, and five minutes after the validation, I discovered the solution on my own.

So for those who have this particular problem, please go to the RealTek page:

    http://www.Realtek.com.tw/

Click on the "Downloads" link at the top.

Click on the first link on the page: High Definition Audio Codecs (software)

Check the box "I agree" to the legalese and then click the next button when it becomes available

For the fifth result in the list, "Vista, Windows7 Driver (32/64 bits) driver only (executable file)", click on the 'GO' link to the right (I chose "Site 1"), then download the file to your desktop.

If you have any audio drivers RealTek HP installed under the Control Panel, uninstall and restart.

Then, run the executable RealTek above (when he throws an error message saying "Windows cannot verify the Publisher" click to install anyway), then restart.

When your system returns to the top, you have the sound!  I am very happy.
