Vista - true or false security alert?

All of a sudden I'm getting pop ups saying Vista Security Alert, etc... I have both the shield of the normal color of four in the bin AND red with an X on it. If I go to the control panel-Security Center, etc...

When I click on "change the way Security Center alerts me." I get another window, but all options are ghosts. It also says 'Vista Security - unregistered Version'. The only way apparently to get rid of it is to buy the Vista security. I've had this computer for nine months, and this is the first problem like this.

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Fake. Your system is infected with a rogue security program. It's called "thugs" because he pretended to be a good guy but is really bad. Don't pay them!

Malwarebytes' Anti-malware (MBAM) or SuperAntiSpyware will often do the job. Both have free versions and you don't need to buy these programs.

These can work for you, and all can be good. However, in many cases the computer will also infected with other horses of Trojan and protected by a rootkit. These machines are extremely difficult to clean. If your machine is one of these cases, either the interactive assistance to one of the specialty forums listed in the link below, OR take your machine to a professional on the local computer OR backup your data and do a clean install of Windows. It's your choice. I do not recommend using BigComputerStore/GeekSquad types of places.

When I ask that it be lit, the answer is that it can't: go to control panel. When I go into the Control Panel, it says that the automatic updates is already turned on. When I try to check my status update, I get no results. I was not asked by Windows if we can download any type of update for several months. I have windows Vista and my laptop does the same thing. After what seemed like hours of trying everything suggested, I decided to clear out all temporary files (again), turn off and unplug the laptop and removed the battery and wait 10 minutes.  After 10 minutes, I've replaced the battery, plugged in and restarted my laptop.  After all, was up and running, I tried Windows update again, and my laptop updated with NO PROBLEM.

my computer wouldn't let me download lime wire... and every time I try a security alert appears.

    Hi juannfallen,

Welcome to the Microsoft community newsgroups. I suggest you try these options:

The question can be caused also by your security program such an antivirus or a firewall of Windows /Defender that can have conflicting parameters as to not not to perform certain tasks. I suggest you temporary disable antivirus and firewall and check the result again. You must activate new security that you was disabled programs.

For more information, visit the Microsoft Web sites at the following address and check if the Windows or Windows Defender firewall is causing this problem. It is suggested to make changes and to allow certain applications to run through these by the use of exceptions rather than turn them which can cause serious problems for the security of the computer:

1 explore the features: Windows Firewall

    2. turn Windows Firewall on or off

    3. Understanding Windows Firewall settings

4 explore the features: Windows Security Center

    5. using Windows Defender

    6. turn Windows Defender on or off

7 Windows Vista: antispyware software - Microsoft Security

8 real-time protection real turn Windows Defender or disable

If the problem persists, return with the following details:

1: name of the security of the software

    2: exact security alert

Let me know if it works. Good luck!

    Hope this information is useful.

    Thank you and best regards,

    KKS Vijay

  • Several issues having an impact on computer - security alert Windows

Help. I'm a self confessed computer illiterate! It seems that whenever the update of Windows is running on my computer, it changes the settings & I encounter problems.

I'm currently running Vista (please let me know what other details you might need) & I have Bitdefender. Windows Update ran & now I alert security windows saying there are several issues that affect my computer. I checked Bitdefender & all right with respect to any virus or malware etc. etc. When I click on icon - windows security alert - it opens the windows Security Center.

Everything changed on or Ok. Like how windows tells me that there are several issues affecting my computer but then doesn't bother to go & tell me what they really are.

Someone else has encountered this & know what it means or how I can fix this problem...

I underestand that your Windows Security Center will tell you you have any questions, but when you open it, all right. If this is the problem then, it could be due to delay the departure of the Windows Security Center to monitor your anti-virus.

I suggest defragnment and clean and updated Windows and make sure you have installed SP2, make sure that bitdefender is updated.

Also, just check and make sure you have the latest version of bitdefender, please refer to:

  • Updated for Firefox 36.0 now get Windows Security Alert

    Hello

    Updated for firefox 36.0 24/02/15
Now to get a Windows security alert
Windows Firewall has blocked some features of this program.
    Name: Firefox
    Publisher: Mozilla Corporation
    Path: C:\program files (x 86) \mozilla firefox\firefox.exe
Private networks is enabled and grayed out.
Public networks box is not checked and ask to allow access.

When I look at the programs allowed through firewall it shows Firefox 2 programs.
    Firefox---(la case est décochée)
    Firefox C:\program files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox)---(case cochée)

    Also on 24/02/15
There are updates Windows 7 and an update of definition of MSE.

When I started the computer 25/02/15 the Windows security alert appeared.

I have not allowed access to Windows Security Alert window.

Why this security alert Windows has been published?

The Windows security alert is the only issue.
Firefox works normally. He never does not.
I have internet access on my private network.

    I use Classic theme restaurateur.
What's interesting after clicking on menu + customize, I moved the icon Hello in the box additional tools and features.

    When updating to 36.0 FF
    Hello icon brought itself automatically.

I just clicked Cancel on the dialog box and the Windows security alert went away.
Everything that Firefox still seems to work fine.

If she comes back, I will inform this thread.

    Thanks,
