Vista Windows always open a particular file on desktop.

On Windows vista when I try to open a folder or file, a particular file on desktop opens. I deleted this file from the desktop. Still another form desktop file is slescted and the problem persists.

This problem does not always. Sometimes, it happens and if I restart the machine, then only I can open other files. But after some time, the problem returns.

Plesae give suggestions.

  • Get the Error Message When you try to reinstall Vista: Windows cannot open the required file: E:\Sources\install.wim

I'm trying to reinstall windows vista for the following reasons:

    1. I have SQL Server 2008 installed on my computer.  I deleted some files a long time ago and it screwed something and I couldn't reinstall.
    2. I had partitioned my hard drive for vista half and half SuSE and I deleted who and when I did, I think I deleted another partition - my recovery partition (E:\?).
    3. I need to clean my laptop.

When I try to start the installation of a disk and I put in my product key, I get the following error:

Windows cannot open the required file E:\Sources\install.wim.  The file does not exist.  Make suure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation.  Error code: 0 x 80070002.

Let me know if you have any ideas how I can fix it.  My next step was to recreate this E directory and download the install.wim file and re start the installation.  I could not find the file install.wim well.

    Hi Rob,

I checked the link you provided.  What you downloaded was just the Vista recovery environment.  You cannot actually re - install Vista with that and if you blew your recovery partition unfortunately you may be out of luck.  You blew your partition containing Vista runs so the SFC will be of no help either.  I wish I had better news for you, but I don't see any way o get on without a Vista DVD.  I have good news for you if.  When you get your HP drive if you have problems with the installation, we will be able to help you with that.

    Hi jamesgillwn,

    1. when exactly you get this error message?
    2. what disc do you use to reinstall?
    3. What is the exact error that appears when you try to start?
    4. at what point of the installation you get the error message?

After researching the error 0x8007000D code is essentially due to file corruption and a problem with the drive itself.

First check if you have scratches or dust on the disc and clean the surface and try again.

To check if the disk is wrong, you will need to copy the contents of the DVD to the hard drive and try to install using that.

Try the steps from the following link:

Note: When you perform the installation, you will lose the data, make sure that you need to backup your data before you perform the installation.

  • I've got qcad Professional installed but vista will not open save dxf files. I get dxf is not an application valid win 32. Is there any solution for this?

I've got qcad Professional installed, but vista will not open save dxf files I get a file... dxf is not an application valid win 32.
    Is this a common problem?
Is there any solution for this?

You, of course, took umbrage to my last post. For that I apologize, there was no pejorative intention. I am a newbie in the forums and am digging my way along. I have marked your answers answers by mistake, I'll try to fix this.
I solved the problem, I tried to open files in the Qcad application by clicking on the list of recently used files. It will not work in a new session.
    The correct procedure is:-
Open click, Qcad - click file - open (this opens the index page of Qcad from the saved files) - click the required file - click Open.
There is no problem, with the exception of this incompetence of users.
Thank you for your time and assistance.

  • Windows cannot open an epub file

After I downloaded an .epub file, "we must know what program to use to open" Windows. I clicked on search the Web and Windows cannot find one.  Since I want to download to my player from my PC, I want to open and to save it to EPUB on my PC (which is the format supported by the reader).  How do I do that? There is a link to "fixed" to download, but they are sites that are unfamiliar to me.  They say that Windows supports the file, but the URL does not support this claim. I don't know if they are safe. Microsoft doesn't have an installer for my computer to do this?  Thank you!

    Hello

I posted this question on 08/27/2012 and received a response 8-28.   I think the name of Tech is Najil. With the advice to start in safe mode to check the 3rd party issue. and if no problem starting clean and you do know the results.... However, I could not/response post because I forgot my email info... (former name-Queen2KingG2BNV). So I had to sign up again.

My results: when I start in safe mode, the problem is not there. So, I did the clean boot process. And the problem wasn't there. However, when I go back into msconfig and the return to normal startup value & restart... the problem returns. I was so hoping that the problem has been resolved.

After all, the advice given on the web, I ran autorun, remove programs, defraged and cleaned system and nothing worked, except that you gave me.

Thank you very much, now I know there is hope.

    Ready for the next step.

    Hello

    1. who is the service that was causing the problem?

    2. have there been recent changes to the computer before the show?

Method 1: I suggest you follow the exact steps from the link.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

You can also uninstall the service that is causing the problem or try to disable.

    Method 2:

Also try to scan your computer for the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Photoshop CS6 windows cannot open a .hdr file

    I can't open files .hdr with Photoshop CS6 Version 13 x 64 for windows 7.
I just updated and installed the optional plugins, just in case it would help, but I still get the same error: "Could not complete your request because the file format module cannot parse the file."
I read online somewhere else what this error code means that the files are corrupted with other types of file, but I wasn't sure with these that I never used before .hdr.

Sorry if this is a discussion of repeat, I saw most of the other discussions were errors trying to make one - I just try to open a.

Nope, that just tells us the file extension is .hdr (which we already knew).

Can you post a file that we can take a look at?

I still suspect that they have the wrong file extension.

  • Guest Windows always opens at 640 x 480 after restart of VMware Workstation?

Whenever I do this sequence of operations, my guest operating system comes in the resolution of 640 x 400 lean instead of the usual 1400 x 1050.

    1. Stop or suspend my Windows prompt (Windows XP Professional SP3)
    2. Leave VMware Workstation (version 10.0.1 for Linux)
    3. Restart my Linux (Ubuntu 13.10) host
    4. Restart my Windows XP guest

This happens even if I simply suspended the guest (as opposed to closing) before the quit/restart.

It did not used to happen; as in recent months.

At the same time, I run a Windows 7 guest in another tab (if it goes through the same procedure), and it comes in full resolution.

Any ideas? My vmx configuration file is attached.

I solved the problem by downloading QRes and running in Windows XP prompt:

    "C:\Program Files\QRes\QRes" / x 1050 1680/y

This has not only changed the resolution once again, it seems to have solved the problem completely each time you start.

  • I had a loss of power, and now Firefox does not start on my XinXP machine. In the process of list is firefox.exe, but no window always opens

I have Firefox and Thunderbird - both Act the same. When I double click on the exe icon, a process starts, visible in the Task Manager, but no application ever does appear, in applications, or no appaears window. Both worked earlier today.

Tried the checkdisk - no help.

I uninstalled (in safe mode because the uninstall program wouldn't work either) of the software of the printer, and then reinstalled as.

After that, thunderbird and firefox have both worked very well. Part of Windows must have got dirty up/stuck by being apparently corrupted printing software. Printer icon never showed up. Firefox and Thunderbird must have tried to read printer data at startup and hung out to dry...

  • That Windows Explorer open with its extended file tree.

Is buried the record I work with several layers to the bottom of the tree (Documents > My Documents and so on).  I go immediately by putting the folder in Favorites, but which expand the file tree itself.  Is there a default setting that would make the Windows Explorer opened with its file tree developed to the level that I specify - either the level displayed when I close the program?

    Thank you very much

    Craig

    Hi Craig,.

What your request is what I get on my machine.  So, I sailed to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32, click Favorites on the left side, click right and choose "Add current location to Favorites".

What it gave me was SYSTEM32 in my list of favorites, and when I click it it only opens the right pane to this place.

OK, so for your problem, it doesn't not self-expanding.  You can change this quite easily in the Folder Options.  Open something like the computer, click the arrow next to organize, choose folder and Search Options.  On the general tab, you will see under the Navigation pane option to turn on the self-expanding.  You won't achieve what you want.

Let me know how you go.

    Kind regards
    Jon

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:

    • Restart Thunderbird with disabled modules (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click "restart with disabled modules. If Thunderbird works as usual, there is an add-on or theme interfere with normal operations. You will need to reactivate the modules one at a time until you locate the offender.
    • Restart the operating system in safe mode with network. This loads only the basics needed to start your computer while allowing Internet access. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX

How to have the sidebar with thumbnails by default in the application preview?

I'm on OSX El Capitan 10.11.3 on iMac, and whenever I open a PDF file, there is no sidebar. I have to every time click on the Sidebar icon, then select the thumbnails. I would like to be on by default, but cannot find the option or how to edit the plist file...

If the thumbnails is checked in the menu 'View' preview, it should always open a PDF file with the open sidebar. Unless of course, it's a single page PDF.
