VM network interfaces

Hi all

I'm banging my head. I have installed VM Workstation on my windows 2003 64 - bit PC. I also installed VMTools

I installed Redhat on the side of the virtual machine.

My network is 192.168.0.50 to 192.168.0.100

for some reason, the VM has set up many different networks like 192.169.19.130 etc...

I don't want to use, I want to use my 192.168.0.50 to 192.168.0.100 range and be able to ping back and fourth of my true operating system on my virtual computer.

I think I messed up something.  I just want to use eth0, it's everything. I don't need the other interfaces.

What can I do to restore the ability to ping and the true operating system VM commnicate?

I get ping of VM to real operating system

Don't forget that I've screwed around the virtual network adapter. I should of asked help b4 I screwed up things. I would appericate if anyone can help me get back on track

Thank you

Wow, I'm sure is glad you posted this because networking with in my VMware Workstation has been problematic.   Not so much to do outside NET that I've been using multiple interfaces, but the connection and communication between virtual machines has been problematic.  Is there something in the manual that you can suggest that I may have missed?   I have NAT had all the virtual machine and it seems to work a little on my personal system, but on my business system in the office - no dice.  Both are HP laptops and two of the virtual machine are the same.  I tried to imitate my settings on the virtual network editor but the end upward with IP conflict on two of the virtual machines in the office.

Broad suggestions as to where I might start troubleshooting would be great.

You are welcome.  Thank you for the additional information.

Here is a card that should work for you:

Read the reviews to see what users say about it.  You should disable the network adapter before you install it.  There is a PCI slot and the PCI Express x 1 slot is faster.

  • FW 4.1.112.33292 Network Interface

I just installed the update to firmware 4.1.112.33292 on ix2-dl-10.

My system status shows a yellow alert that says "the network interface is unavailable.

I can access the user interface for configuration through the network interface and also actions on the device. for example, it seems to work fine other that he thinks he has a problem.

I use a static IP address and have had the same setup since I installed the ix2-dl-10 a few years ago. I have not changed any hardware networking since Christmas.

I tried searching forums and KB, but the research does not seem to do anything.

  • TCP on PC server with the network interface has 2

If I need to create a TCP on PC server with the network interface has 2 with a different IP address, for example 192... and 172... and the IP address of the client side is 192..., is there something I need to take care.

    Any suggestion, thank you.

No, by default the server listens on all interfaces.

  • Which network interface is linked to a 1000th PowerEdge iDRAC?

I have a PowerEdge server 1000th with a bunch of blades plugged and there also * six * M6220 ethernet passes over it.

I have configured each server so that it has a separate IP address of each switch of the following subnets:

    A1 - Public IPs (111.222.333 *, for example)

    A2 - private IP address (* 192.168.10)

    B1 - private IP address (* 192.168.20)

    B2 - private IP address (* 192.168.30)

    C1 - private IP address (* 192.168.40)

    C2 - private IP address (* 192.168.50)

Each server can ping any other server on any B B six IP addresses (so that they can all 'see' each other on all interfaces of contactors.

In addition, the CMC interface has a public IP address, and it is connected to the A1 (the public IP switch) switch.

Now, when I want to use the interface of the iDRAC (for access, for example, the console to one of the servers), it works * fine * (which means that I can't the user a browser on one blade to access the console of the iDRAC of any * other * blade) if I attribute public IP to the iDRAC interfaces. However, if I assign an address from any of the * private * subnets (because my public IP is rare), I'm not able to reach the iDRAC console.

IDRAC interfaces are only related to A1 or something, or is there a reason why I shouldn't be able to reach them through other switches?

So it seems that the iDRAC facilities use the physical interface on the CMC, not on any of the modules A1 - C2 network. Although this interface was connected to our network public IP (with our A1 network interface), I was able to avoid public IP with our iDRAC interfaces by issuing IP aliases private A1 interfaces on our blades.

  • Merge devices with multiple network interfaces

    Hello

Is it possible to add several interfaces to a device network, but merged into a single device?

For example, we have a lot of HP and Dell servers that have usually a network interface and an interface of management (ILO or iDRAC).

It would be useful to be able to add two interfaces while having them mapped on the same server in NMS. The network interface would show us the availability on the network and the management interface may alert us hardware problems via SNMP.

Anyone knows if this is possible, or do we need to have more than one entry for each server?

    Thanks in advance

    Ewan

    Hi Ewan,

If the INVESTIGATION period is not recognized by the operating system, we most likely would not be able to draw the individual IP addresses of the ILO or the iDRAC. You can present this as a feature request in the ideas of the community section.

    Thank you

  • Dell 3130cn printer network interface does not

    Hello

I recently reset the printer to my Dell 3130cn to factory default settings. I also reset the LAN interface. After that I did, the network interface has stopped working.

The printer is not able to get an IP address. There is no solid or flashing lights on at the back of the printer's ethernet port and the printer says its network/IP status as 'unknown '.

What should I do? I wonder if the network interface is fried. I've never seen this problem until recently. The rest of the printer features seem to work well.

    Hello Josh,.

Your options are limited, replacement of the on board fresh SST (Y507D) North of $ 400 million. Based on that I would recommend the replacement of the unit. Otherwise, you can connect the printer via USB and share it on the network through the PC.

  • No network interface exists in the machine

Hi, im using HP Pavilion dv6 - 1160ev my OS is Windows Vista 32-bit.

I reformatted my laptop and downloaded all the dirvers but I can not install the NICs (Realtek PCI - E Fast Ethernet NIC)

There is no network interface in the machine.

Please, plug in the adapter on the on the expansion slot or

Connect a cable from the ethernet network device if this computer to "Sleep Mode".

How can I solve the problem? Thank you

Hello bulletjuan. I understand that you have lost your network interfaces after performing a clean installation. Is this correct?

So if you had to go to Device Manager and expand the section "Network cards" do you have something to all listed? If this isn't the case, looks like you had bad drivers, or they somehow don't settle when you reinstalled all your drivers.

Try to install the ethernet driver once more. Here is a link to download.

If it works, I suggest running HP Support Assistant to ensure that you have all the drivers updated, once you have an internet connection.

Let me know the result of this; have a great day!

  • Bind Virtual Network Interfaces to the physical Interfaces

    Good day to all.

    My situation is as such:
    VMware NICs.png

I have a virtual machine running Red Hat Enterprise Linux as guest OS and my host machine is a laptop running Windows 8.1. Each operating system has two network interface cards. I want to place the virtual machine on the line between a router that would be on the left (side Intranet) firewall followed by Internet on the right (side of the internet). I hope there is an option that would allow me to effectively "bind" one of each virtual NETWORK adapter to each physical NETWORK adapter, so that when I place the machine host on the network line, it would be like the VM would be online also. So, basically I want to accomplish what is highlighted in RED in my small figure above.

The full rectangle is the guest OS with its two network cards on each side, and the incomplete rectangle is the host device with its own two network cards on each side. I hope that someone could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

VMware Player, "Configure the adapter" parameters are indeed not unique for each virtual interface. You use VMware Workstation to meet your requirement. For workstation, you can create two VMnets and link your two adapters to them, then connect your two cards in the comments to the VMnet respectively

  • Several Network Interfaces

    Hi guys

My physical server has 4 network interfaces, I'll have 3 VM.

Is it possible to have a physical interface for each virtual computer?

    Example:

    1 - host interface

    Interface 2 - VM1

    Interface 3 - VM2

    Interface 4 - VM3

    See you soon

You can do passthrough for network cards and give them directly to the host.

Another way is to create a vSwitch and assign a NIC put only VMS on that. Do this for all three virtual computers

  • VCo workflow to clone a virtual machine of centos. Network interface problem

    Hello

I use vco workflows to clone a virtual machine of vcenter. The virtual machine is running centos 6.0. When cloning is complete. I see the network eth0 and eth1 interfaces set correctly the static gateway ip and address information I provided. I deleted the 70 - persistent - net .rules on the basic vm form which I clone. So, I get the correct interface names. But when vm powers on and I run "ifconfig eth0" I don't see the IP address of this interface has all the details.  same for the other interface also.

But if I do a system restart network without changes to networking and then do an ifconfig I see the IP with the previous information.   I don't know why the service network restart is necessary so that he can recognize the ip address.

Any ideas what I could do wrong. or to avoid this manual step of the execution of the service network restart command on the creation of the vm.

    Thank you

    Kiran

Yes I'm restarting after after the application of customization.

Has been able to solve the problem... In CentOS, the network service does not work by default. This is why it does not have network interfaces at startup. So now the machine instant, I started the network services and stop the Network Manager service

    using chkconfig network on

    chkconfig NetworkManager off

and then cloned from this virtual machine... and apply the customization settings. during the start now it shows the interfaces properly without needing a service restart

Network configuration / routing / two network interface cards / NAT - leased / dedicated Dell R210 running VMware ESXi 5.1.0 build-799733

    Hello

I'm trying to understand how to configure a dedicated server of Dell R210 rented running VMware ESXi 5.1.0 build-799733

This dedicated server is rented www.online.net and sits somewhere in France. One of its network adapters have an IP public 62.210.177.20x. The other NIC is here, but I do not understand how it is configured. According to the www.online.net portal, the other NETWORK card has or should have an IP 10.90.116.20x. And I am obviously set up is to have some virtual machines running and be able to access the Internet. I have access to the console of the server Dell through iDRAC and since I could see, one of the network adapters in the IP is 62.210.177.20x defined, and the other has been shown out of service. I managed to make it appear the other interface but I cannot find anywhere how to assign the IP address 10.90.116.20x to this 2nd network adapter. But then again I don't even know if I should or if I need to assing a IP address to this 2nd network adapter. What is the cable connected even for this 2nd NIC? I do not know. Should it be - I'm not either. I don't know French and manuals/instructions on www.online.net are in French. I can try an online translator, but I don't think that what I'm looking for is explained. How do I get this set up? I have to do something about the ESXi on the server console? This interface 2nd should be in place, or it must be down as if it was originally? Yesterday after watching someone videos on YouTube, I added the second virtual switch and moved the virtual hosts of this switch 2 and he entrusted the 2nd NIC. But that 2nd NIC had a red X next to it probably indicating that it was disconnected the 2nd form virtual switch. Today and now I have managed to access the ESXi console server through iDRAC, I bring the 2nd NIC, and now both network adapters are assigned to the virtual switch 1st . But I think that a NIC should be attributed to a single switch and the other card NETWORK on the 2nd switch. I'm just a desktop guy with enough knowledge to be dangerous J if you / someone put in steps how and where to set them up it... PLEASE

    Thanks in advance

    • VMware vSphere Hypervisor is an "operating system" for pure virtualization and support NAT or routing. Therefore, only a real bridge configuration can be used.
    • To use a subnet additional IP must be configured as a router VM.

If I understand the above, I need to show some VM and set up as a router? If the virtual machine that will act as a router must have two network interfaces, where it is connected to a switch and the other to the other switch network card. Am I do?
