• "Convert" an ESXI4 server to an ESX4 Server (VMware Essentials).

  I have two existing ESXi4 servers that run a lot.  I wanted to have the opportunity to monitor, deploy from model and backup (VCB) on these machines.  I bought a license of VMware Essentials. (three servers / six outlets).

  My question is... Should I reinstall to make servers ESX4, or just enter the new key Essentials on each ESXi4 server and add them to my vCenter Server?

  To be honest, I entered the new key Essentials on each ESXi4 server and added to my vCenter server.  My problem is that they are always displayed as ESXi 4 servers.  AND the Update Manager still shows them as ESXi servers.  Is it OK?  Everything seems to work very well.

  There is no functional difference between ESX and ESXi. It is simply a choice with a purchased install. ESXi before move will be the only version available.

• Reallocation of license VMware Essentials

  We have a VMware Essentials pack.  I have added a former host with a single processor to the vsphere recently to migrate a virtual machine to the new production host.

  Now, I have completed this migration I want to delete this former host.

  I can't assign the license hypervisor to the host when it is still connected in the vsphere as it fails to apply because the host has the vsphere active agent.

  
  

  I can remove it from the inventory of vsphere two using the legacy client and web client vsphere.

  However the license key is not returned to the pool of available on the server.

  I can confirm that I've now assigned a single hypervisor enabled to the host once it has been disconnected.

  and after reading other peoples comments I left this during more than a week some people suggest that the update of license can take half an hour or more.

  I have now closed the old host but still wish to recover the CPU license this host seems to have again.

  In vsphere licenses if I look at the tab hosts that it lists only the remaining guests and former host, I'm trying delete isn't there.

  However, in the license keys tab most license still the CPU usage shows an extra CPU.

  We use the device server vsphere version 5.5.0 build 2646482

  How can I get the vsphere to count is no longer the old host in the use of the licenses?

  This is unusual. What you try - unless already done--is to restart the vCenter Server Appliance (perhaps restart the Web Console service - Port 5480 - is enough) to see if this fixes the use of licenses!

• VMware Essentials to include Update manager

  Hello, will be setting up a small Site DR.  Going to use Veeam replication to have VM Replicate on him.

  Just try to understand what VMware licenses for.  I think im going to go with VMware Essentials as we will only need two physical hosts to start, maybe in a few years, we could add another physical host.

  It should not be necessary for HA/DRS as it is just a recovery site

  What im wondering, this is the Kit Essentials come with Update Manager?  Not the Essentials Plus version, just essential.

  I can't seem to find on the product page of the site if its included or not.
  It does not say that it comes with VCenter Server Essentials.  Im hoping Update Manager is included?

  I realize im not going to have HA and Vmotion.  But we should keep the patches for security reasons.  Because DR site will be somewhere else, it would be easier to use Vcenter Update manager to update the hosts.  Given that it is a site of DR than the VM'w will be turned off, so I don't think that there should be problems

• VMware Essentials Plus question of vRam 2 guests

  I have 2 guests with every 192 GB of RAM and 2 CPU.

  If I understand this VMware Essentials Plus the following limitations:

  Max of 3 guests

  Max of 192 GB vRAM

  Max of 2 CPU per host

  The 192 GB can be used in any way I want? For example...

  -Can I run VM 6 with a total of 72 GB RAM on host A and run 10 VM with a total of 120 GB of RAM on host B? (192 GB total)

  -Can I feed 8 VM with a total of 96 GB of RAM on host A and run 8 VM with a total of 96 GB of RAM on host B? (192 GB total)

  - Or in the case of hardware failure, I can run all VM 16 s with a total of 192 GB of RAM on a single host?

  Yes, the vRAM is "in common", so as long as you do not exceed right you are ok.

  ... also, make sure you have your ESX hosts in a cluster to use the right "pool."

• Can you manage VMware Essentials of vCentre Standard

  I have a Standard of vSphere environment 4 and I need to move a virtual machine in a single specific server (which has a minimum configuration to minimize the cost of licensing of cracked).

  This server is as an alternative to the V2P.  I'm happy to say goodbye to vMotion, HA and the CBT API for this server.

  And I won't have a VM on this server.  It is rather a loss of a server (thanks Oracle).  I rather not burn ESX Enterprise license too.

  So I want to install using licensed Essentials at low cost.

  But the question is: what I can manage a host VMware Essentials of Standard vCentre?

  I can't find anything to vmware.com who says I can't.  But then, I can't find anything that says I can be...

  Do I have to buy a complete Standard license even for things that are not going to use all these features?

  If you have a VMware vSphere Essentials or VMware vSphere Essentials Plus license, the following additional license terms apply:

  VMware VMware vSphere Essentials licenses or VMware vSphere Essentials Plus editions (collectively, "editions") you only to manage the server up to three 3 hosts and your use of these editions is limited to servers with up to two processors. For these editions, the host server must be managed by the VMware vCenter Server that comes with these editions, and this same VMware vCenter server cannot be used to manage other hosts from server not included with these editions.

  So the answer to your question is: "No, you can't."

• Cannot assign VMWare Essentials-PLUS license, says "vSphere FT" in use.

  I am desperately trying to activate VMWare Essentials plus, but when I try to asssign the key to these two hosts ESXi 5.0.0 get:

  License may not be assigned, features in use: vSphere FT

  The other key "In VSphere VMWare Server" just assigned very well.

  That amounts to two questions:

  How remove vSphete FT, even when disabling HA completely it always says "are in use."

  I was informed by a representative of VMWare "Fault Tolerance" is included in Essentials, but the reality seems to be different. So either I have a technical problem or we have been deceived.

  Any information to clarify what is happening is appreciated.

  Check the configuration of your network on the host, especially the VMKernel ports and make sure that you have not accidentally activate the checkbox "logging Fault Tolerance.

• Cluster with VSphere Essentials

  When I try to create a cluster with VSphere Essentials (no more) I'm offered HA and DRS (they are not greyed out, they are available). Are these trial versions that will be disabled in the future, or they are now included in Essentials?

  My understanding is that they would be unavailable at all. that is, they would be gray.

  To view your features under license:

  1. Open the vSphere Client and connect to your vCenter Server
  2. Select a host in your cluster
  3. Click the Configuration tab
  4. Click on the link "Features licensed" under the software

  All licensed features are presented here. Search for "VMware HA" and "VMware DRS" see if they are allowed.

  Thank you for asking.  No, the SupportAssist version 2.0.1 you mentioned is the last for OME.   Version 1.0.1 mentioned in another post June 4 is for customers who are not already using SupportAssist of OME.

  Support for the camera has been added in the latest version of Lightroom, version 5.7.1. After you download Camera Raw 8.7.1 will have no effect on Lightroom because Lightroom does not use plug in Camera Raw. You must ensure that you have updated Lightroom to the latest version in order to have support for this camera.

  We bought Vsphere Essentials Plus and installed on 2 hosts, processor Intel 2 1 4 - cores and a processor AMD Opteron 2 6 - cores. Since none of the CPUs exceed 6 hearts, I expected to be able to use more than 1 server with 2 processors, but the system will report that we used all possible processors.
