Yes, but keep in mind everything that has a full qualified path that does not exist on the system you are moving the virtual machine in the virtual machine settings will fail.

  • GPIB-usb-hs on vmware fusion

I am running Windows 7 64-bit on an iMac with OS X 10.6.5 via VMWare Fusion. I installed the driver NOR-488. 2, but can not see my GPIB-USB-HS device. This post: http://forums.ni.com/t5/Instrument-Control-GPIB-Serial/NI-488-2-does-work-on-Windows-XP-Mode-within-... seems to indicate that someone else has had success; his problem was using XP Mode.

Anyone can shed some light on this? Can I expect the combination of the GPIB-USB-HS with Windows 7-64 on VMWare Fusion on an iMac to work?

I also have a USB-6215 is working well.

    Thank you!

    John-

I moved my virtual machine to an OS X 10.6.6 system and things did not work immediately. The GPIB-USB-HS was not visible to the MAX and in Device Manager it looks good, when when I open the property page, he says that there is no driver loaded.

I was able to get the GPIB-USB-HS working by choosing to update the driver through the Device Manager. The steps to do this are:

    1. right click on the GPIB-USB-HS in Device Manager and select "update driver software...". »

    2. Select "Browse my computer for driver software" and then "Let me pick from a list of drivers for devices on my computer.

    3. you must be exactly a GPIB-USB-HS driver to choose. Select it and click Next.

    4. once it finished, view the properties of the device and make you it is said "this device is working properly."

I did the same test for validating a single request with the device, but it seems to work.

  • Problem USB 3 VMWare Fusion with Windows 7

I'm French, so, if you want an English version of this post, just tell me. Thank you.

    Hello

I pour unwanted VMWare Fusion on Mac to run a VM Windows 7 64 bit.

I have an external hard drive USB 3 in 1 I'd like to be able to connect on Windows this.

Very soon a USB 32 GB USB 3 will also appear and will be connected on it.

However, unable to connect to my HARD drive.

So I tried to download this type driver, but impossible.

I have a popup to launch the driver installation that tells me that I don't have the required configuration.

I tried activate in the support of USB 3 VMWare Fusion settings, but nothing helped.

You would possibly solutions? Or have I something homis chosen?

    Thank you for your.

    NB: I have a Macbook Pro 13 "Retina mid-2014.

In the virtual machine under USB & Bluetooth settings > advanced options USB > USB compatibility: set it to USB 2.0 and then if it connects properly workaround it connect it to a USB2.0 Port on the host computer or use a USB 2.0 Hub between it and the Mac.  Also, just using an extension USB cable 2.0 could stamp it down to also be used as a workaround.

  • USB 4 G Modem works on MAC, but is not seen by VMware Fusion

The Huawei E3276 USB 4 G modem is connected and functions well on the Macbook Air 2013 host under OS X 10.8.4. However, VMware Fusion 5.03 doesn't see the connection as he would see a WIFI or Ethernet host connection. How can this be repaired?

you have a NIC card assigned to your virtual machine, if this setting is configured with NAT, it must use any device whatever your host uses to connect to the internet.

you will not be able to see the physical device in the guest because there is no virtual hardware for it.

  • VMWare Fusion 7 Windows 7 Black Screen

VMWare Fusion 7 Pro. I have an existing, working VM of Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro 15 "Early 2011 (4xi7) running OS x 10.10 (Yosemite). I copied the VM to my Mini Mac 2012 (4xi7) running OS x 10.8. When you start the computer virtual on the Mini, I chose the option "moved" instead of "copied", as two virtual machines will never be upwards at the same time. While the virtual machine on the Macbook Pro still works fine, the VM copied on the Mac Mini boots to a black screen in the main window. However, the preview window indicates planned graphs and charts in this window it is started normally! I tried:

    1 again copy the VM

2 turn off the acceleration option and the retina of 3D graphics

3 reinstall the VMWare Tools (since I see still graphs in preview window, this was difficult but not impossible)

    4. turn the simple core CPU and remove image from DVD player

Nothing has worked so far. Any ideas?

Well, I found the problem: the card drivers USB DisplayLink. It's one of these USB devices that allows you to attach a view to it. The version of the drivers I had installed caused this problem. Not sure if the new drivers solve this problem, because I just uninstall them. • VMware fusion complains about map services smart

    People,

Whenever I start my computer virtual 8.1 Windows I get a warning from Vmware fusion 6.0.4 whereby "an older version of card chip (pcscd) service runs on this system. Upgrade to the latest version to use virtual smart cards. ».

Is it a problem of the host or guest? And how should I solve it?

    Hi atakacs

The smart card reader connected to your physical machine, it is a USB smart card reader?

While we are working on the issue of the setting, there is a solution to get rid of the warning message if you do not want to use the functionality of common smart card to share your physical chip with a guest card.

After your Windows 8 VM is turned off, please open the .vmx file in your VM installation directory and type

USB.ccid.disable = "TRUE" at the end of the file.

ATTENTION: You can not share your smart with the guest card. You can always passthrough to chip at the prompt, if the physical chip is a USB one.

  • Port sharing ethernet physycal between the Mavericks and Ubuntu using VMware Fusion

    Hi all

I use VMware Fusion on Mac OS Mavericks 6.0.2, and I need to connect a physical device to manage using a Ubuntu 12.04 VM. In addition, the host computer is connected to a public network, using a Wi - Fi connection.

I put the ip of the physical device by USB configuration, but I was unable to get by using ethernet or the guest or the host computer. I tried to configure the NIC of the NAT guest, as well as the bridge too. Nothing seems to work. I don't know if the virtual machine is able to handle the physical Ethernet port.

Ideas for the configuration of the network device (NAT, bridget, etc.) or the ip configuration?

Thank you very much in advance.

Sorry, I left an important step.  You must also configure the host's Ethernet card to use a manual IP address in the same subnet assigned to the Virtual Machine and the sensor.

    1. connect sensor card via USB and set the IP address and subnet mask, disconnect USB.

    2. connect the sensor to the host (Mac) Port Ethernet card.

    3. in the Apple menu > Preferences system... > network > Ethernet > configure IPv4: manually, then set the IP address: and the subnet mask: properly.

    4. from the Virtual Machine settings > network adapter > Bridged Networking > Ethernet

    5. in the guest OS virtual machine to set manually the appropriate IP address and subnet mask.

    Example:

The IP address of the host on the Ethernet adapter: 192.168.3.1 subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Guest OS Ethernet adapter IP address: 192.168.3.2, subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Sensor onboard IP address of the Ethernet card: 192.168.3.3, subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

In this example, the sensor Council will be addressable by the host or the guest to 192.168.3.3.

BTW I just tested it using my Thunderbolt Display Ethernet with a normal cable (straight not crossed) RJ45 connected directly to a device addressable IP, VMware Fusion and a virtual Windows machine.  Although the same works with an Ubuntu VM as I have in the past also.

This should work without any problem but make sure that the firewall or other security software on the host and guest are not blocking communications!

  • How can I stop the VMware Fusion installation virtual vmware mouse driver?

Most of the time after I get windows 8 using vmware fusion, I uninstall the usb vmware mouse driver. Even after that I installed it, the guest operating system still works, but it installs it again when I suspend and resume the virtual machine.

Delete the file vmusbmouse.sys from the folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers and then find the folder C:\Windows\inf, hidden by default, the oemN.file file, where N on oemN is a number containing vmusbmouse.inf and remove it and the file oemN.PNF corresponding in the C:\Windows\inf folder.

    Also delete the folder C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\vmusbmouse.inf_*.

This should prevent Windows to automatically install the driver for the vmusbmouse.

    Hi Jez!

Could you please launch system information and look through your host USB devices to see if there are others who have not a serial number?  The crash log you posted shows the exact same failure, which suggests that perhaps you have two of these devices.  We have also seen this problem with certain models of Zebra thermal printer and a USB-to-SATA CablesToGo connector.

  • Activate Wifi on Windows in VMWare Fusion on Mac

I want to activate the Wifi in the operating system Windows 8 on Mac OS X 10.8.3 (Mountain Lion) in VMWare Fusion 5 to support the test and development of software, that I write that evaluates the available Windows Wifi access points.

I know how to activate the Windows Zero Configuration Service (ZCS) via sc config or services.msc , but the Wifi is not a type of connection available.

I tried to run VMWare Fusion with various 'Network Adapter Settings', including:

    • Share with my Mac
    • NAT
    • Bridged (automatic detection)
    • Bridged (Wifi)

Windows 8, regardless of what I do, tells me that there is no wireless network adapters.

How do I enable Wifi in Windows 8 in VMWare Fusion on a Mac so I can scan to card Wifi and connect/disconnect at will?

    Thank you!

VMware is only a map of Ethernet network wired to the guest regardless of the type of network adapter in the host OS.  If needed/wanted a WiFi adapter in the comments then you will need to provide your own, like a USB WiFi network adapter.  Network adapter WiFi integrated host cannot / will not be seen in the comments.

I have a Mac Mini 2.3 GHz quad core i7 machine with 16 GB of RAM

I am running Mac OSX 10.8.2

I also just upgraded my windows from Windows XP Professional to Windows 8 Pro

When you try to install the software (Cyberlink) and drivers for my new LG Blu - Ray Burner (model BE14NU40), I get an error message saying that the software is ONLY for LG brand drives.  This seems odd, since it's what I have.  When I checked the Device Manager in Windows 8 I've seen that for some reason, VMWare changes the identity of the optical drive to a NEC for some reason any... which prevents the software and drivers from loading.

Does anyone have an idea how to fix the identity changed my optical in VMWare Player so that Windows 8 Pro will know that it IS really an LG drive?

  • VMware Fusion 5.02 - Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS - vfat external HD

Host: VMware Fusion on Mac OS 5.02 X Lion 10.7.5.

Comments Server Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on VMware Fusion 5.02

I get a hd on linux vfat and share it on the local network.

    It works great but:

When I have to suspend the prompt, the system only umount the drive properly.

The system says that ther an error in the script suspends even if I apply this hack:

    http://communities.VMware.com/thread/417724

I try to use aliases in rc.d and script in but if fails.

Another big mistake is the following: after the resumption, the usb device (initially present in/dev/sdb) come on in/dev/sdc, and obviously samba and netatalk lose all links.

Is it possible to use an external hard drive with vmware and share it on the local network with services like samba, netatalk, apache...?

    Thank you all!

In my tests, I see two errors:

    (1) it was impossible to start virtualmachines headless and without host connection, if the .vmwarevm is stored on an external volume

    (2) if I connect to a host computer (for maintenance, for example) and after I disconnect from the host, the virtual machine closed in very bad way.

I hope I'm more clear before and thank you very much for your suggestions, they are very helpful!

I did hear that your op just had no time to address but want to raise the issue of Time Machine.

FWIW in VMware Fusion although we can leave a virtual machine without head vmrun however I don't think that it is officially fully supported and certainly not the case when you run a Virtual Machine as a Service, so to speak, by starting it before or without logging in.  Having said that I'm not saying it's impossible, just that since the intention of VMware Fusion is a consumer product, it was not designed to be used in this way, although to a certain extent, it can.   So expect to have problems and still maintain good backups of VMS as it relatively easy to trash a VM running headless as a service or not.

Your number 1 is logical because I don't think that not bootable external Volumes are normally mounted before the user login, even if never didn't have the need to test and see if they were or when during the process startup, they are mounted.   Have you tried a solution to mount a volume prior to the opening of session and before starting the virtual machine without head of script?  BTW so I haven't tried it and so cannot tell whether it is doable, but I would be surprised it wasn't.

A time, I wrote running a VM headless (no GUI) and the command Shutdown / Suspend with Mac OS X Reboot/Shutdown but I have not updated to take account of all the debates in the thread if you need to read the full thread.  Using the information here I have tried to add code to mount the external volume before first starting the virtual machine without a head.

As for number 2, time where I was using a VM without head began before connecting, I had no problem, if I need to connect to something else and then log out and have the VM without head still works well so I don't know what to say or what I can offer without being able to test under the exact usage scenario you are employing.  Unfortunately, I have other things I want to do then do test on this issue since I don't currently have a need to run headless or would do so (run headless) from an external source.  And I don't see a future need for me.

That said, if you invent a solution I encourage you to share so if others have the same need, they can benefit from your efforts.
