VMware Fusion Version 2.0.5 (173382) Serial Port config.

I do some tests with some of our products and I struck a death sentence.  I have a few products that I need virtulize however, the ONLY way to configure (after Virtualization) is on the serial port.

VMware Server (windows) will allow you to log in from a virtual machine to another virtual machine throughout the series. for example using named pipes, I do the following, but I can't use Vmware server, I need to know if fusion can do.  Even with the manual files if possible editing.

customer .\pipe\com_1
Server .\pipe\com_1

VM-Windows XP (Client) -series virtualProduct (Server) - VM-internal

I found that parallels offers this, but some of my images of BONES are designed to use vmware lsi logic and the installation fails for other reasons.

Anyone has any ideas on this?

Using

Serial0.present = 'TRUE '.
Serial0.filetype = 'pipe '.
Serial0.filename = "/ tmp/series.
Serial0.noLock = 'TRUE '.
Serial0.yieldOnMsrRead = 'TRUE '.
Serial0.pipe.endpoint = 'customer '.
Serial0.tryNoRxLoss = 'TRUE '.
Serial0.AutoDetect = "false".

one side and

Serial0.present = 'TRUE '.
Serial0.filetype = 'pipe '.
Serial0.filename = "/ tmp/series.
Serial0.noLock = 'TRUE '.
Serial0.yieldOnMsrRead = 'TRUE '.
Serial0.pipe.endpoint = 'server '.
Serial0.tryNoRxLoss = 'TRUE '.
Serial0.AutoDetect = "false".

on the other hand should work. Or, use the type of endpoint 'server' with different filenames from both sides and run 'socat' to couple the pipes.

  • OpenGL in VMWare Fusion version

    Hi VMWare community.  I have been using VMWare for the development of games for the past while.  VMWare supports OpenGL, but not all versions of it.  VMWare Fusion 6 (my current version) supports the OGL 2.1 (I think; it's hard to say their documentation).  In my current project, we have improved OpenGL 3.2 so we can implement pixel programmable shaders and a number of other necessary refinements of the modern games.  This means that I had to work on native Windows, which I do not have enough.  This means that I must have a separate to maintain computer, and which applies to a number of my colleagues.

    So my question to the community and the team at VMWare is: which version of OpenGL Fusion 7 takes?  Do you have plans to support in the future, more modern versions?  I know that the players are not your target demographic, but the developers of these games could be.  I got a new team now and want to give my developers (and myself) the opportunity to stick to familiar software, hardware and host environments.  I also much appreciate the benefits of development in virtual environments and intends to continue to do so.

  • VMware Fusion version 1.0 Uninstall fails

    I have VMware Fusion - Mac 1.0 that has been properly installed and works on an iMac with Leopard.  I had an XP Professional machine and a Windows 98 machine.  I had a hard drive crash and had to reinstall all my software from scratch on a new drive with Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.7).  I installed VMware Fusion 1.0 a few months ago but never recreated my XP and Win98 machines.  Today, while he was trying to create a Windows XP Professional computer, I got several times the following (also attached) error message:

    > fatal error VMware Fusion: (vcpu-0)

    > NOT_IMPLEMENTED bora/devices/mainmem/mainMemHosted.c:1967

    > a log file is available in "/ users/home/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized / Windows XP Professional.vmwarevm/vmware.log.

    There is no log file.

    The vm - support.tool to extract the data from the file does not work (of course).

    I thought that it would be prudent to upgrade to version 3.0 with a completely new installation.

    However, the uninstall application does not work: it shows just uninstall it's wrong until the end.

    Any suggestions on how to force an uninstall or uninstall manually?  That may seem simple or obvious to skilled users, but I am relatively new to this.

    VMware Fusion 1.x is not compatible with OS X 10.6.x and you should always check to make sure that something is compatible before installing.

  • VMware Fusion 2.0.5 out of suspense

    I put my VMware Fusion (windows XP) pending.  Now when I try to reboot, I get the screen of "Closure" of Windows.  repeated efforts and 'abandonment' Fusion of the side Mac and restart returns to the "off" State

    As best I can tell, the files in my application (DonXP) are in the place that I put in place as the location of the file when opening windows. This place is a LaCie external drive 256 GB HARD.  I have identified in the system as "VM - Etc".  The path for the files of DonXP's Machines/DonXP.vmwarevm VM-Etc/Documents/Virtual.

    In the past I always shut down Windows and quit VMware Fusion when stop the Mac. The other day, someone suggested that the suspension was more efficient and faster to stop and restart.  Following this suggestion, it's how I got in this embarrassing situation. How can I solve this problem?

    VMware Fusion Version 2.0.5 (173382); Windows XP SP 3. Mac OSX 10.5.8

    Well, suspension agent is certainly faster when you start, back up, and then a full stop, although it should not go through the motions of "closing windows", he should be blocked everything that was running in the guest when he is suspended.  It seems that something or other is still stuck...

    Suspended, you have no need to do that this either in the comments, just click the button pause when Windows is running and he's going to be suspended right where it is.

    To get back and try running, just turn off the Virtual Machine, this time.

    To power off, the equivalent of the socket by pulling on a physical computer, simply go to the Menu bar > VM > Power Off.  (You may need to hold down the 'Option' button if you see "Shut Down Guest" instead of "Power Off".

    Once it is off, you should be able to start normally upward.  Wait for Windows to start, then to try and hang it with the Pause button or the Menu bar > VM > suspend comments to ensure that it works correctly.

  • Buy VMware Fusion 7, but the v5 download and run the merger also?

    I looked on the website of VMware, but impossible to find the answer to this question:

    A customer can purchase VMware Fusion version 7 (the current version) but also to download and run an earlier version of VMware Fusion (for example, merger v5) for temporary use? Here's an example scenario:

    * A VMware customer has two Macs. One is an old Mac running Snow Leopard, and the other is a new Mac running Mavericks or Yosemite. The customer wants to use the new Mac, go ahead (and give the old Mac). The client runs even a few applications that are not supported on what it is later than Snow Leopard (for example PowerPC applications). The obvious solution is to run these applications in a guest of Snow Leopard Server in VMware Fusion on the new Mac.

    * The problem is that Snow Leopard Server does not install as a guest operating system on the recent Mac models of the client, but it can run an existing Snow Leopard Server prompt that was created on an older Mac.

    * The client has this old Snow Leopard Mac. Unfortunately, it won't run VMware Fusion 7. It will run in VMware Fusion version 5, however. The customer wants to run VMware Fusion 5 on the old Mac to create the Snow Leopard Server on old Mac prompt, then copy the comments for the new Mac where it can run under VMware Fusion 7.

    HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS:

    --> How can the customer buy VMware Fusion 7, but also to download a copy of VMware Fusion 5 for this operation 'create a Snow Leopard Server prompt' unique on the old Mac?

    -> Will VMware provide a Fusion 5 license when the trial period expires on the old Mac before the customer can get a Snow Leopard Server comments work?

    I sent you this link last night via Message private and also posted in your other thread on the subject.  You should be able to use as disk utility here: create a disk image of physical Mac OS X install media.

    If this process fails to create an image that starts on your newer Mac, please let us know, as this is a question we want to address.  I'm not aware of any circumstances which require a downgrade from Fusion 5 install Snow Leopard Server.

    Thank you

  • VMWare Fusion disc may be incompatible

    Hello

    I recently encountered a problem with VMWare Fusion version 3.1.4, I don't know how to fix, or even diagnose. I am running Fusion on an iMac with OS version 10.6.8 and have only a single virtual machine, which is Windows 7 x 64 Pro. Mac has only one hard disk and virtual machine is on this hard drive. I think that this problem started after a strong power to the bottom of the Mac due to a power failure. In any case, when Google Chrome running on the Windows 7 machine, I now get the following dialog box

    vmwarefusion1.jpg

    By clicking on try again just brings back the same dialog box. By clicking on continue doing the wait cursor take for awhile, then get the same dialog box. If I click on cancel I'm taken to the next dialog below:

    vmwarefusion2.jpg

    Can someone please tell me how to diagnose and repair the problem with "Operation on file failed" and "VMWare Fusion cannot synchronize with the disk before giving up" > I really couldn't find anything obvious.

    Thank you

    Never here to use a UPS!   Take a look on: APC: data exchange computerized (UPS, Uninterruptible Power Supply)

    Take a look on: Troubleshooting suspends failed, instant start up, or merge error: operation failed on the file (1027559)

  • VMWare Fusion 4.1 full screen - black Bars?

    Hi all

    I get black bars at the top and bottom of my VM sessions when I try to use the full screen with my VM.  I don't know how to solve the problem I tried all the obvious things (last VMWare Fusion and VMWare Tools in the guest OS).

    I had trouble with VMWare Fusion version 4.1.0 (529802) and full screen with a machine virtual Windows 7 x 64.  I upgraded to 4.1 and Mac OS X Lion at the same time.  When I upgraded, I have also improved the VMWare tools in the guest OS (see screenshots).  I noticed that I CAN manually change the resolution in Windows, and expand the Windows form to fill out the black bars, but as soon as I exit full screen and go back in the black bars of back... it is like VMWare is not said that the guest OS resolution appropriate to set go full screen!

    Does anyone know how to fix this?  It is incredibly annoying.

    Hi Cyberfunk,

    Sorry it took me a while to catch up with this thread... for some reason, my forum email notifications have stop working.

    Your file preferences Fusion user, in "~/Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/preferences", seems to contain the following:

    pref.autoFitFullScreen = fitHostToGuest

    With your VM off the power (not sure if the suspension will be enough) and with closed merge, remove the line above, then launch the merger, turn on your virtual machine and then see if your comments in full view full screen.

    See you soon,.

  • Use an ESX Server 3.0.2 VMDK file in VMWARE Fusion?

    Is it possible to use copies of the virtual host systems, which already exist on our VMWARE ESX cluster in VMWARE Fusion software, I run on my APPLE MACBOOK PRO laptop? I use VMWARE Fusion, Version 3.0.2, and our ESX Server is on version 3.0.2.

    Thanks in adnvance

    Panos Tsapralis.

    You can convert a VM ESX in Fusion using VMware vCenter Converter Standalone product.  The only downside is that you can only convert a Windows VM.  You can download the converter on the link below.

  • BUG: Breaks VMware Fusion when there is free space on the host < 1.9 GB... result = > 1,9 GB never use for anything! (note: I do not use a virtual disk!)

    Hello

    first some info on my system:

    -

    MacBook Pro

    Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz

    RAM: 4 GB

    HARD drive: 112 Go - 2 partitions (80 GB Mac OS x 10.5.6 32GB, Windows XP)

    ---

    VMware Fusion version: 2.0.4 (other affected versions 2.0.3/2.0.2/2.0.1/2.0)

    Allocated to the virtual machine RAM: 1.5 GB

    Under Windows XP in VMware (boot_camp) partition separated - NO VIRTUAL DRIVE! -separate the NTFS partition.

    -

    Now the bug/problem:

    Every time that free up disk space on the host partition (MacOsX) becomes less than 1.9 GB the VMware Fusion makes a break with this runtime message:

    -

    VMware Fusion has suspended this virtual machine because the disk on which the virtual machine is stored is almost full.

    To continue, free at least 1.9 GB of disk space.

    -

    Please prove me wrong, but makes no sense to me, because the result is that these 1.9 GB is never used (or VMware) :-(

    In advance, VMware Fusion allocates approximately 1.9 GB whenever the virtual machine is started then in my opinion this runtime check is redundant and the audit should run only before you start the virtual machine.

    Anyone know how to move this bug to developers or solve the problem?

    It's very annoying not being able to use almost 2 GB of disk space :-(

    Thanks for all the relevant answers :-)

    This is not a Bug! and this is the expected behavior to avoid crashing on OS X and or damage to the system as a result of unexpectedly running out of space.

    If you are currently running disks tight on space you have a bigger problem then do what it's programmed to do my protect the stability of the system, because the user is not paying attention to the State of their own Fusion system.

    Free and maintain a suitable available space as required by the programs that you use, and how they are used.

    It's a result of error of the end user, because you shouldn't be filling your drives and should always maintain a reasonable percentage of free space.

  • Please help - my version of VMware fusion is to old to be upgraded. If I buy the new version can I transfer my existing set up?

    So I installed my Mac at El Captian & annoyingly my version of VMware fusion (5.0.3) is no longer supported and will not open.

    Even more annoyingly VMware fusion offer upgrades to the new version for those who use the version 6 or later.

    In any case, big question if I buy the new version is there a way I can still access my current setup?

    Would like if someone could let me know. I am self employed & I've got software out there that are vital for work :/

    Hello

    Welcome to the VMware communities forum.

    There is no problem with the Fusion 8 recognizing of your virtual machines to Fusion 5 (or more), it will go just pick up where you left off.

    There are a few borderline cases, as it officially you should have your virtual machines closed and not suspended and preferably without clichés before upgrading to a newer version of the merger. However, in practice I saw real topics with that either.

    Note that it is recommended to backup your virtual machines before going any further. Do this by copying them to an external drive (not dependent on time machine for backups of virtual machines) and then disconnect the drive.

    You can start using on Fusion 8 for 30 days trial period, simply download it from here:

    Try VMware Fusion or Fusion Pro. Run Windows on a Mac without rebooting.

    Once it works as you want, simply assign the license to the merger to change it in the full licensed version.

    Hope this helps,

  • What happened to the 'light' of VMware Fusion 7 has been released since version?

    Earlier versions of VMware Fusion has always had a 'light' version, which did not include the McAfee or the VMware tools.

    For some reason any now with version 7, this option seems to be gone. Any idea when / if a lighter version finally released?

    Example: VMware-Fusion - 6.0.2 - 1398658-fire.dmg

    -----

    Note: there are two different versions of merge available for download: a version is complete is a larger file to download; the other version is marked 'light' and is a smaller download, but includes no VMware Tools .iso files for Linux or the McAfee AntiVirus Plus software.

    Article is not entirely accurate and I suspect that when "VMware Fusion 7.x" was added to "product version (s):" and other sections on the page it was the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.  It is my understanding that starting with VMware Fusion 7 it will be only the image of an installer, without the image of com.vmware.fusion.zip.tar update Fusion.app from VMware downloads, "VMware Fusion 7 with VMware Tools for all operating systems (full Installation)" for example "VMware-Fusion - 7.0.1 - 2235595.dmg".  The AntiVirus is downloaded when clicking on ' Install McAfee AntiVirus Plus in the menu 'Virtual Machine', if desired. • Can I run Snow Leopard with the latest version of VMware Fusion on a MacBook Pro for mid-2012?

    I have a Snow Leopard install disc (version 10.6.3), but my MacBook Pro for mid-2012 allow me to install it.  Is this possible using the latest version of VMware Fusion?

    If it is a commercial version of Mac OS X 10.6.3 Snow Leopard Server not Client, then Yes.

  • You started VMware fusion with an outdated version of the application

    I bought a new disc fusion 3.0 version and it loaded on my new macbook pro and also to load Windows XP.  Everything worked fine until I'm showing that an update was available.  After update, when I start the fusion, the message arrives, 'you started VMware fusion with an outdated version of the application. VMware fusion can not power on virtual machines using this copy (version 3.0.0) to power on this virtual machine and run VMware Fusion of the default location"Does anyone have any idea what it means or if there is a fix?

    If you have VMware Fusion.app a subfolder of the Application or in he moved to the outside/applications, you must give the app and run it from the Applications.  If this is not the case, try to search with Spotlight for several copies of Fusion on your system to see if you have copies of somewhere, maybe an old backup.
