VMWare Remote Console

Hey all

I am trying to connect to a virtual machine through a remote console from outside my network. I am able to access the VI web access page via http and have ports 8222 8333 transmitted through my router/firewall. Whenever I try to connect to a virtual computer via a remote console it expires and get the message "unable to connect to the MKS: unable to connect to the host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: a connection attempt failed because the connected party responded properly after a period of time, or an established connection failed because connected host has failed."

I am able to access the remote console internally without any problem

Its a VMware server 2.0 running on Win2k3 64 bit infrastructure. System of Dual Opteron processor with 6 Gig of ECC ram recommended

Y at - it all other ports I need to pass through the firewall in addition to 8222 and 8333?

Thank you

Hello

Yes, you also need to open port 902.

Take a look at this document I posted today to planetvm.net

It has more details...

  • Of VMware Remote Console Plug-in Setup error: "unable to install the hcmon driver."

    Hi all

I try to install the VMware Remote Console Plug-in for my browser of 32-bit Internet Explorer 11, and I get an error message during installation: "Unable to install the driver of hcmon."

I have Windows 7 64 bit with .NET installed 4.5.5. Anything installed in my device manager, there is no hcmon.

I use an x 86 install files to VRMC (VMware-vmrc-win32 - x 86 .exe), but I guess that this 32-bit version is what I want because I use THE 32-bit? Or is that what I want 64-bit for my OS?

I've seen some posts related to this issue, but all my registry keys seem to be set correctly and my .NET is of course more recent than the version 3.5 SP1, but I hope it's OK.

Also, I got an error on the USB in my Windows logs Arbitration Service, but following the steps described here, and retry the installation also failed with the same error 'hcmon' described above:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 2043656

Any ideas on what might occur, or other things I can try?

  • Strange problem with the VMware Remote Console Plug-in

    Hello

I'm on Win7 64 Bit as a host with VMware ServerVersion 203138 2.0.2Build. The VMware Remote Console Plug-ins wants always be installed even I already installed it. It happens with all the browsers I tried.

When I click on install the plugin, it is deleted, the next time, it is installed, removed..., installed the message remains... :-(

    Any help?

Try to run the browser as administrator. Maybe that will resolve the situation.

    Thank you

    Hi all

Currently, if you use the license free hypervisor, most operations will fail - the host is essentially unchangeable.

It is a known problem. At this stage there is no solution except to retreat on the evaluation license.

Rest assured, we are trying to address this issue.

  • What is the purpose of a remote console VM?

I'm still a little shaky exactly what it is.  It just allows you to view the desktop of the OS running on the VMS running on the Virtual Machine Monitor.  If so, then is it not necessary for a usable Virtual Machine Monitor?

The VMware Remote Console provides a mechanism for users and

administrators to view and interact with the graphical desktop

or console command line of OSes running in VMware

    basis of virtual machines.

Excellent guide, which should tell you all you need to know here: http://www.virtuatopia.com/index.php/Installing_and_Using_the_VMware_Remote_Console_Plug-in

    Hope this helps

  • Incompatibility of the thumbprint SSL in Remote Console on the new ESXI5.1 server with the same name as the old

I use the vSphere Client Desktop for remote access to a VMware host if SSH tunneling. Basically, I aim at the customer 'localhost' and it is redirected via the SSH tunnel on the server at the other end.   I usually always could access the things just fine, but recently, I replaced the remote server with a new one.  Off the old, I changed my SSH tunnel to point to the new server.  The client is connected correctly, and I can see the virtual machine and work very well with the host country.  However, if I try to open a remote console, I get an error saying "failed to check SSL for 'mylocalmachinename.domain.com' due to incompatibility of fingerprint digital host: stored fingerprint '< checked again footprint esxi host >' does not imprint of cert" < imprint of mystery which does not correspond to a new host * or * former > ' I still find from this certificate thumprint!  I can get remote consoles on those virtual machines to machines that are the on the host, but not this remote workstation.  This * feels * like a sort of updated certificate cached somewhere, but I can't find of it empty.  I checked the registry and the thumbprint for the remote server is correct.  The part of remote console of the vsphere client there is thumprint own cache somewhere?

MEH.  Response proved to be something completely independent and stupid.  There is a process running in my system that was also listening on port 443.  Why it intervened with the virtual console only and not the main customer I have no idea, but stopping did the trick.  It was another application I had installed some time ago and off it, I realized that I don't think that I actually * tried * run a console on the old vmware remote host because I installed this application.  It has probably been broken for a while now and I barely noticed.    So... Yes... too bad.

  • Remote Console problem (VMRC)

In 'My Cloud,' all 'live' the vApps thumbnails are visible.  When I open a Console, I get 'connection '.... "then"disconnected"and a black screen.

Our cells are in a DMZ with two logical interfaces on a vNIC (one for HTTP) and one for VMRC, using the static routes through a firewall to our ESX and vCenter VLAN.  Pinging and research are very good and we opened ports in the VMware docs.

My suspicion is that this has to do with the DNS system.  If I hit the DMZ of the management/protected cells of VLAN, I can open the Console at a distance very well.

A strange thing is that I recently got an error during the test remotely, that server was "unable to find [our vCenter server's DNS name]" after a failed attempt of Remote Console.

I know how dependent vCD's on the good management of the DNS, so I'm sure it's something simple.  Any help is, as always, appreciated geratly.

Did the upgrade, still no help.

The answer: we had put a second vmknic (1) on the hosts to support VXLAN.  Instead of using DHCP, I manually assigned IP addresses.

It turns out that the IPs shared the first three octets with the original vmknic (0).  Despite the fact that their subnet masks were supposed to be 25 and 26, the two vmknics have been misconfigured (by me) with 24 masks.  Not good.

Once I put the appropriate 25 and 26 of the masks on the vmknics, things started working again.

  • vCloud Director Remote Console shows black screen

    Hello

Finally, I installed my vCloud Director and everything works except the vCloud Director Remote Console to visit the virtual machine screen.

But the "power-off-button" or "reset" button works. The Black Guard screen.

I tried evrything. Re-install VMRC-Plugin, add the vCD to my trusted sites, another PC and the same everytimes.

Does anyone have a good advice or a solution to make it work?

    Option 4 there ;-)

    URL for 'VCD Public': https://10.2.10.166/cloud/

    Der VCD-Public-Konsole proxy addresses: 10.2.10.167

Base-URL for VCD Public REST API: https://10.2.10.166/

To explain a little further, the 'HTTP' nic that you have probably configured on eth0 will provide the vCloud Director portal and will also manage the traffic of the API.

The second network adapter will be used for the "Console" Proxy which is the console remotely (VMRC)

    It will be useful.

PS: The other side is a known with each version > 12 Firefox bug it seems. (You need for the moment to open the console full screen so you can see the console.

  • Error when connecting with the Remote Console

We get the attached error when you click on a paralytic to vCloud Director.  The inner coating IP address is the ip address of the proxy console.  Any ideas what might be causing this error?  I thought, it might be something with my SSL certificate, but I'm not sure.

    1. it's a Windows 7 view Client using IE 9

See the installation and configuration (https://www.vmware.com/support/vcd/doc/rel_notes_vcloud_director_10.html) guide, IE 9 is not supported, and only browsers supported on Windows 7 are Windows and Firefox 3.* 8.*.

    2. it takes about 1 minute and 45 seconds, but the error pops up 2 seconds after the Remote Console window opens.

Certainly, that's the problem here. It shouldn't take 1 minute and 45 seconds for the remote console to pop up window, in fact, I would say that it should begin in a few seconds (certainly less than 10 seconds). You are not sure if it's because of IE 9?

4 see attachment log of error messages when trying to access the virtual machine

The error message looks like it tries to connect to my server vCenter.  Do the users who are connected to vCloud Director must be able to connect on the server vCenter Server?  I thought it would just use the user that configure you when you connect on the vcenter Server.

The console proxy (a component of the cell of vCloud Director) acts as a proxy for users connected to vCloud Director. It is the latter that connects to your vCenter Server server, and that's what you read in the papers.

Try this on any other OS/browser support matrix. In addition, if you can dig why it takes more than 10 seconds for the remote console to the pop-up window, you would have found yourself a solution. If this does not work, contact the Support of VMware.

  • VMware server Console Black

    Hello

When I open a (Windows 2003 32-bit) VMware Server console I get the attached black console.

When I make RDP to this server also I get the same console. I changed the display of color options, and even in this case, I get the same screen.

This virtual server is hosted on ESX 3.5i and I migrated to anotehr ESX host, but the problem remains the same.

No idea how to solve this problem?

See the blog below.  We have came across this the other day because a customer's lack of space on the C: drive.  However, change registry entries remotely did not work.  I think somehow, by pressing a key combination when you use the VMware Console and a user who had never logged, we got the loading screen.  I think it is or .  But whatever it is, you have to check the registry database for colors.

The web URL is a simple link.  You manage access through the VI Client and VM Templates, to show all of your VM.  Restrict access.  They may have the URL, but they cannot access the virtual machine if they do not have a user or group to this virtual machine.
