VMWare Server Auto walk stop VM

The documentation states that you must activate this option when installing VMServer 2. I installed 3 times now looking for AN option in addition to the locations on the disk and can't find anything. In the management console, there are options for start/stop with the host, however, virtual machines any "off" to start. The documentation says "Note to allow the virtual machine to be started and stopped on a Windows host, you must also select Allow virtual machines to start and stop automatically with the system during the installation of VMware Server.»

Can someone tell me the buttons to activate this option?

Thank you

Bill

If you select a computer and then click "Move up", it should become "activated" when it hits the sections 'Specified order' or 'Any order' and you can then change the settings to set the start or stop (as long as you have administrator privileges). Please see the attached screenshots.

A witch hunt to start during the startup of the host if you have virtual machines on a data store that is not available at startup, for example sometimes if it's on an external or drive network rather than local.

    Hello

In our environment, we have 3 servers VMware with 3-4 virtual machines running on each server in VMware (Version 1.0.5).

When disconnect us from VMware Server some of the virtual machine are stop down and in one case stop the VM. Has anyone encountered this problem before?

Servers running VMware Server on has a good specification & there are enough resources on each of the servers.

    I'd appreciate any help.

    Thanks in advance, P

Hello.  Go to the Options tab in the settings of the virtual machine, and then select start/stop on the left side. In the right part, change the account of Virtual Machine in "Local System account". This will keep the VMS running when you disconnect.

  • VMware Server on windows 7 host, will not autostart invited after upgrade to vista

I have upgraded vista to winodws 7.  I had to reinstall vmserver 2.01 for networking.  The last problem is that Vmserver auto start the guest.

I changed the options for start/stop of the virtual machine settings.

This worked under Vista 32-bit, but not under Windows 7 RTM 32-bit.

    any ideas?

I am currently using vmrun to start from a batch file

Follow-up: I could get this to work, although the causes escapes me and the fix is not pretty:

    1. Remove VMWare Server

2 remove folders vmware related in c:\program files (or installed path)

    3. manually remove all references to "vmware" of the registry

    4 reboot.

5 reinstall the server vmware to the default locations.

I tried everything but the manual registry clean.  (Standard warning blow your system here)  Once I did this and reinstalled, now auto-start for clients with the host properly operating system.

  • Fedora to access VMware server 2 web

    Hello

I had problems with the interface web vmware server 2. When I first install vmware server 2 on a clean system, it works fine. However, after a reboot, the web interface is more accessible to the general public.

    When I do

    "netstat - anp |" grep vm ' I see port 902 listening however ports 8222 and 8333.

SELInux is disabled, I also turned to IPtables and ip6tables as well as fedora firewall.

I tried rerun vmware - config.pl, however this does not resolve the issue. I also tried to restart the management interface and that does not work either.

    Hello

    I had same problem - Fedora 14 64 bit & vmware 2.0.2... and nothing on google :-/

Because I have not found a solution for this problem, so I wrote this post (my first btw :-))

After you install vmware (and patch before), everything works well before the first server to restart. After reboot - web access (port 8222 & 8333) has not worked.

    For me, it has worked:

    (1) check if vmware - spend is running (when vmware service is started):

    # ps to the | grep vmware - pass

    --------------------------

    root of 1752 0.0 0.6 50760 225708?        SSL 14:36 0:01 / usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-hostd - a d u - /etc/vmware/hostd/config.xml

    (2) If vmware - spend does not, try to run vmware - pass manually (without the-d (demon) parameter):

    # / usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-hostd - a u /etc/vmware/hostd/config.xml

    --------------------------

(there was no mistake as.. libvmomi.so.1.0: no such file or directory)

    (3) copy (or link) libraries starting from/usr/lib/vmware/vmacore/and/usr/lib/vmware/lib/to /lib64/

    # cp /usr/lib/vmware/vmacore/libvmomi.so.1.0 /lib64/

    # cp /usr/lib/vmware/vmacore/libvmacore.so.1.0 /lib64/

    # cp /usr/lib/vmware/lib/libexpat.so.0/libexpat.so.0 /lib64/

    (4) just try to restart the vmware service or server; I had to run vmware - config.pl new - vmware crashed.

If this isn't the case, vmware - always come running after you restart, try to rerun manually and wait minute (if it is started).

I already had virtual machine in vmware, so I got another problem...

VMware-get started, but just for a minute. After a minute, he wrote something as... out of memory. I tried to rename my vm and vmware has worked well (WebAccess Inc.) ...

So... Here is the solution to another problem...

    5) simply to stop the vmware service

judgment of vmware for the service #.

    6) Rename the library libxml2 vmware based

    # mv /usr/lib/vmware/lib/libxml2.so.2 /usr/lib/vmware/lib/BAD-libxml2.so.2

VMware will skip this library and use a for/lib64 /...

    (7) restart the server and try out it

I copied the file listener.ora to a similar environment that works correctly, stop and then restart the listener, checked my repeatedly tnsnames entries etc. I wonder if the problem may be related to the fact that this environment runs in a virtual machine. Maybe some special network configurations are required for the NIC VM - I solved many problems of sqlnet over the years, but it baffled me. Any help is very appreciated.

  • VMware Server 2.0 CIFS data store bug?

I posted this problem a few weeks ago, but I still can't solve, then I write it again with new information on the problem. I think it could be a bug in VMware Serever but I am not certain about it.

I use VMware server 2.0.2 (b203138) with a Windows 7 Ultimate x 86 as vmware server host and configuration of the NAS data store. The data store hosts all virtual machines, including the ones configuration files, and it's a shared folder located in a Windows Server 2008 Enterprise x 86 SP2. The network mode working group, not in mode active directory.

    Symptoms of the problem:

    • If you stop or restart the host server, when it is once again the CFS data store is unusable and VMS are inaccessible, even if all of them were arrested at the time of the restart.

    • The option to update the data store does not solve anything.

    • If the NAS data store is deleted and recreated from scratch, the machines are still not accessible. It is also necessary to remove and re-add the VMs.

    • If you only reboot the VMware services then you lose not the NAS data store or virtual machines.

    • If you only reboot the NAS then also you don't waste either the data store, or virtual machines, although they were in operation when you rebooted the NAS; the same happens if you stop communication network between the host server and the NAS.

    • A delay in starting services VMware does not solve anything.

    • I tried the start VMware services in manual mode, to be sure that there is full access to the NAS before starting the service, but VMware is still losing the NAS data store and virtual machines, this isn't a problem with permissions to access the network or network connectivity.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

This applies to all the BONES that I know. VMWare server 2.x just keeps the security attributes for authenticated access to CIFS shares underlying network based data stores you set.

I see some information that it's actually worked in server 1.x version, but I can only confirm.

I don't know if it is a bug or by design since this behavior has persisted through several versions 2.x, it can be design to users of reader for commercial versions.

    Good luck

  • Can I run a machine virtual de VMware Fusion, VMware Server 2?

I looked at a bunch of documentation confusing but couldn't find a clear overview of what VMware Server 2 does in fact.

I hope that I can take the virtual machines that I've created with VMware Fusion and download them on VMware Server 2 on a server somewhere and run it from there.

Is this possible?   Is there any clear, simple documentation that indicates how to proceed?

Thanks for any information you can give me!

    Hello

If you run the virtual machine in fusion directly in vmware server, these are the steps to follow:

    (1) find out where are the fusion virtual machine files.

    (2) stop & remove merge (do not remove fisically hd!) virtual machine.

    (3) copy files of the virtual machine of fusion to the vmware server host (with the .vmx file and the hard should be enough) in the directory you designate as data store for vm vmware server files in the installation of vmware server.

    (4) use the "adding a virtual machine to inventory" to navigate to the file .vmx of the virtual machine that you copied before

    (5) the machine running and try. (if a question arises, you say that you copied the VM).

Maybe you should do some additional steps as reconfigure it the virtual machine under vmware virtual network install, but there are minor and easy changes.

Here is some information about the files that make up a virtual computer: http://www.vmware.com/support/ws55/doc/ws_learning_files_in_a_vm.html

  • VMware Server 2 roles

In my configuration of VMware Server 2, I would like to create a role that helps users where all they can do is create, start, and stop the virtual machine. Nothing more. Can what privileges I give to make sure that they can do it without problems?

    Thank you

Try the following - works for me:

Data store-> Browse Datastore + file management
    Virtual machine-> inventory-> create
    Virtual machine-> Interaction-> all the
Virtual machine-> Configuration-> add existing disk + add new disk + add or remove devices
Resources-> Machine virtual Assign to the Resource Pool

If you get errors, take at look at the hostd.log file as it should show you the details of the exception which is quite easy to find what a privilege you need to grant.

Look here for the patch to module 2629 vmware servers: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1261181

It worked for me with F11, although I'm not 64-bit.

  • Simple player for VmWare server?

    Hello

I'm under VmWare server 2.0 on my desktop Ubuntu, I often need to configure new virtual machines to test.

My qyestion is: is there a quick way to run a VirtualMachine (for example the player) or I have every time to start the server? Can we install VmPlayer with VmServer?

    Thank you

The Player and Server products fit together. However...

On the Web console VI for the virtual machine, there is a command to create a shortcut on the desktop. When you double-click the shortcut and enter your credentials, it will open a console for this virtual machine. If the virtual machine does not work, it will be started. Or you can use the vmrun utility.

Close the console doesn't stop the host, of course. If you want to stop it, you will need to use the web console to VI, the vmrun utility, or just simply the guest to close.

    Good luck!

  • Adding a new interface vmnet to VMware Server 2.0 via command line

    Hello

    I am running the following:

    # vmware vmware - v snake

    VMware Server 2.0.0 build-122956

    Snake vmware # uname-a

    Linux 2.6.18 - 92.el5PAE #1 SMP snake.kw kills Jun 10 19:22:41 EDT 2008 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

    Snake vmware # cat/etc/redhat-release

    Release of centOS 5.2 (Final)

I'm having problems trying to add a new switch Virutal. I go about it the wrong way - or is she even care?

MSG is "the operation only is not supported on the object".

The reason for this - I want to set up an new HostOnly adapter on the system. I don't see a way to do this via the VI Web Access console.

I am more happy to be told RTFM, if the appropriate section of the FM is highlighted

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Kevin

I'm not supported, but there is little valuable documentation on this unfortunately set command.

To change the network, such as the addition of interfaces more host-only, simply launch vmware - config.pl even if doing so requires all VMs running to be break-stop unfortunately.
