  • Ubuntu 9.10 and more recent vmware server 2. Will never run after restart of ubuntu.

    Hello

I installed VMware server on my box of ubuntu 9.10 (32 bit, P - IV 2.4 GHz, 2 GB RAM). The problem is that he never runs after a reboot, even if the demons are actually being run. If I run the file vmware - config.pl, it does not work because it tells me the vmci, vmmon and vmnet modules are not standard. I then remove these modules, re-run vmware - config.pl and then it works until the next reboot of the computer.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

    Hello

OK maybe that you have upgraded the kernel version recently?

If you use the standard kernels provided with Ubuntu 9.10, always use this one:

    2.6.31 - 15-Generic

Make the installation of vmware server with the kernel version above following the directions I told before. Then, you ALWAYS start ubuntu 9.10 with this kernel version and never use another more recent.

At the moment (as I know), it is the only way to run a vmware server 2 on ubuntu 9.10.

    A saludo/best regards,.

  • VMware Server 2.0.1 for Linux 64-bit - any differences?

Probably a stupid question (well, it is), but I can't find a definitive answer.  Is there a difference between the "'VMware Server 2 for Linux 64 - bit version operating systems ' rpm and archive "Basic application necessary for the performance of VMware Server 2, 64-bit version" ?"  The database size, release & build number, etc..  I put this on a Ubuntu 9.04 server, so the speed control will not work unless I convert it into something that includes apt.  Is archive of the right way to go?

    Thank you.

You are right, because they contain the same substance, just wrapped differently for different distributions. Labelling could certainly be clearer. Have fun!

According to some articles online, I've watched the Q8200 series does not support of Intel VT technology.

To have x 64 VM you have VT turned on in the BIOS and do a full power off the coast and back on...

It seems that you won't be able to do x 64 VM popular with your processor series.

  • Vmware server 2.0 problem bridge host Ubuntu Windows xp reviews

    Hello

I have a problem of bridge on my ubuntu with Vmware server 2.0.

The guest is using windows xp with the flexible adapter.

The network of the client works ok, but when I try to access a Web server in the comments, it cannot connect.

    Every incoming request is denied.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

First install the VMware tools inside the prompt and change "vlance' to 'vmxnet. Otherwise, you have only 10 Mbit/s.

Make sure you use truly fulfilled andf not NAT. When you use NAT the guest can go outside, but it is not accessible from outside (if you had posted "ifconfig" and "ipconfig" I could tell you directly).

Looks like there is still a firewall somewhere between the two. What oyu protection virzus use? Some of them, like TrendMicro, have their own firewall.

The host cannot ping the prompt?

The status message in the Panel said recent jobs:

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

Windows 2008R2 isn't an entirely guest OS support on vSphere 4 and VMware Data Recovery.  We are aware of the problem and must lean into it by a version update - for now, 64-bit Windows 2008 R2 is not supported.

    Hello...

I have a DELL Latitude E6400 laptop with Intel P8600 processor.

I installed VMware Server 2 on Vista Business 32-bit Edition.  It works but I cannot create virtual machines in 64-bit.

Can someone explain to me why?

    THX.

To run 64-bit clients, you must make sure that you have intel VT turned on in your bios.  Go into your BIOS and see if this option is enabled.  Without it, you cannot install a 64-bit client.  http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=1901

  • VMware Server Proliant 385 + Win2008R2?

Then, they gave me a depreciated DL385 (2 x Opteron 275, 13 GB of RAM)

    I'm running Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS 64 bits.

    I installed vmware-server - 2.0.2 - 203138 - update.patch

    VMware-server - 2.0.2 - 203138.x86_64.tar.gz

Then I did p2v of old machines Debian/AMD64, that works perfectly.

Then, I wanted to try my luck with Win2008R2. I had read that my CPU probably would not support this guest operating system, but I decided to try and they install fine, but they are incredibly unstable and lock up quite often.

In the paper, I see messages like

    03:07:44.009 18 August: vmx | Captured signal 15 - tid 10720 (eip 0x7f885d7adf83)

I then found a post related to the 275, which recommended

    CPUID.1.EAX = ""--: 0000:0000:0000::: 0101:-""

I added this, but he has not really changed anything.

So, the question now is: is my CPU is just not compatible with R2, or have I missed something?

Of course, I'll do it and I'll take the points with humility...
