Lo mas curioso are tengo Comunicación (ping. JPG) y acceso SSH.

No quiero reiniciar el host ESXi porque tengo VM´s arrancadas, what log´s tendría mirar para Yes una pista than pasa? I think that el problema esta related al capture UN QNAP conectado por iSCSI device.

Gracias por todo.

  • A few questions about VMware tools and U2 of ESXi 4.0 and 4.1

In my workplace, there is a cluster of vSphere 4 six nodes containing 5 servers ESXi 4.0 U2 (4.0.0, 261974) and a server ESXi 4.1 (4.1.0, 260247).  Aparently, it was built that way in the environment concept then deployed into production and now I head for VMware deployment.  This environment is up in producgtion now for over 8 months with this configuration, but starting to be more widely used.  Ideally, I know, we should have all the nodes on the same patch level, but here's the question.

Models used to get the operating system to the virtual machines in this environment were built on the apparently new 4.1 server using this version of VMware tools (Version 8.3.2 build-257859).  All so most of the running virtual machines, use this version of VMware tools.  Using this new version of VMware tools on a virtual machine running on a server ESXi 4.0 U2 ESXi would cause issues?  ESXi 4.0 U2 servers push version 4.0.0 build 261974 of the VMware tools, identical to the ESXi version.  The status of the VMware tools when the new 4.1 version is running on a host of U2 4.0 still shows as OK and we have operated this way for more than 8 months.

Another problem is that we have still a few other virtual machines with the 4.0 build U2 VMware tools so when these virtual machines will eventually be VMotioned to an ESXi 4.1 host, VMware tools show as outdated.

Until we can get of planned downtime to upgrade the servers, it should be like that for several weeks if possible.  We have HL7 interfaces on many of these virtual machines that are not too good with VMotion and being in an organization of health care, sometimes difficult to get downtime.  It is perhaps more possible to downgrade the only host to 4.0 U2 until we can plan time to upgrade all hosts.  I would keep the node in the cluster, even if for the moment, assuming that to release 4.1 with other guests at 4.0 U2 should not cause problems, since we can use the resources of that node in this cluster.

Until then, ensuring that all the virtual machines in the cluster use the ESXi version 4.1 of the VMware tools (Version 8.3.2 build-257859) would be acceptable?  I just wanted to check that this version should be fully backwards compatible with the previous version of ESXi 4.0 U2, and as I mentioned before, its run like that and have noticed yet all the problems and the status of the VMware Tools also records OK when this new version works on ESXi 4.0 U2 host computer.  I just wanted some feedback from those of the community.

    Thank you

Exactly, do you VMotion, virtual host 4.1 machine and if necessary would upgrade the VMware tools. To install VMware tools, it is necessary to restart the virtual machine.

And another option that I say is the first upgraded version of all hosts ESXi4.0 U2 to 4.1, after that, you do an upgrade in the tools of all virtual machines vmware.

    Perfect.

    You´re are welcome!

  • From 3 host ESX to ESXi

I have 3 ESX hosts and vcenter 1 host (running in a VM).  My plan for the upgrade to ESXi is to:

    1. the active 4 vm Vmotion and vcenter for an ESX host.

    2. install ESXi host with no VM

    3. Add the new vCenter Cluster ESXi host (so now the cluster would be 2 ESX and ESXi 1)

4 repeat the steps above until all of the hosts are the ESXi

The guys you see no problem with that?

Can I mix and match ESX and ESXi in the same cluster?

Can I vMotion between ESX and ESXi?

    Thank you guys!

You can do a VMotion between ESX and ESXi (and vice versa) as long as all of the hosts are all the amendments or Intels processors only. In addition, each host must be able to have access to the shared too much storage.

Finally if you cpu are too much difference, you need to enable Enhanced vMotion. http://KB.VMware.com/kb/1003212

  • Internet settings in vmware to host system

    Hello

I installed Redhat-5 using vmware and host system is windows 7. I use internet to the host system with direct wiring (without any router) connection. Now I want to access internet in redhat-5. How to set the ip address for internet access.

    Kind regards

Assuming that the virtual machine is set to the automatic (DHCP Client) IP address just to open the settings of the virtual machine, select the virtual network card and choose NAT.

  • VMware-viclient-all - 6.0.0 - 3016447.exe broke Console hosts 6.0 ESXi and ESXi 5.5

    Installed VMware-viclient-all - 6.0.0 - 3016447.exe and he broke the Console: could not resolve ENGINE_load_aesni: 127

Uninstalled and installed more old VMware-viclient-all - 6.0.0 - 2741530.exe, still the same error.

Loaded procexp and found it to be the launch:

    C:\Program Files (x 86) Remote Console Plug-ins 5.5\Internet Explorer\vmware \Common Files\VMware\VMware - vmrc.exe

When connecting to the host ESXi 6.0

Attempts to connect to a host ESXi 5.5, same error, console does not load.

Finally, connected to the ESX 5.0 and everything works because he throws a VMRC plug-in different VMware.

Having no host 5.1 to test.

Everything worked up to this that VMware-viclient-all - 6.0.0 - 3016447 has been installed.

This processor also has instruction AESNI (Ivy Bridge)

I just found out that the culprit is Workstation 10.e.x.p. beta now the Console version to 10!

that is the vi-client installer is not overwrite all of the files in c:\Program Files (x 86) Remote Console Plug-in files 5.5\ \Common Files\VMware\VMware because the version is a is 9.0 and less than 10.

The problem seems to be that many applications use the same folder c:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\VMware\VMware Remote Console Plug-in 5.5.

And the uninstall program does not uninstall because it is shared by workstation.

If you rename or delete the folder c:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\VMware\VMware Remote Console Plug-ins 5.5\ and then uninstall and reinstall VMware-viclient-all - 6.0.0 - 3016447.exe it works and install version 9.

The latest version of the client is so 10 Workstaiton beta exposure, and nothing has updated the folder c:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\VMware\VMware Remote Console Plug-ins 5.5\ since it was installed.

This is a problem if you do not install the vi client on a clean system, I think he needs a caveat in the installation process.

  • VMware Tools for Mac on EsXi 5.5

I'm trying to install VMware Tools on a Mac on my 5.5 EsXi box.  I get the following error:

    VMWare Tools upgrade error

Call 'VirtualMachine.MountToolsInstaller' for the 'host name' object on EsXi host failed.

    VIX 21003 = error code

Anyone where I can download Vmware Tools for mac on an EsXi 5.5 box?  Perform a google search, I am led to this page to download VMware Tools:

    Index of /45848/tools/esx/5.0

However, this site lists only on Windows and Linux.  I do not see any version of Vmware Tools Mac.

Nevermind, I was able to get rid of the error message by removing my cd player.  Its strange that after mounting will cause this error.  Also its strange that there isn't any downloadable version online.  But no matter I got it solved.

  • Replacement of UC in ESXi hosts - changes to ESXi/VM configuration necessary?

    Hello

We intend to replace the 4-Core Intel Xeon E5520 CPU in our HP ProLiant DL380G6 ESXi servers with processors 6-Core Xeon X 5670. Have we not make any changes to the configuration of ESXi/VM due to the replacement? I know that the model of physical processors type is indicated in the comments of operating system. Is it necessary to restart all virtual machines so that they can work with the new processors?

    Thank you
    Michael

In the worst case, you will need interruptions of service comparable to the "reboot only" (or a stop, (move to the new host), power on, restart).

It's a little strange that support scared you with downtime, as far as I know, it should be easy doable with VCA. Of course, it depends on zillion of other factors, but generally that's what VCA has been designed for. What is really the VMware Support, or 3rd party?

On the other hand, it is certainly much safer to prepare for downtime, like if you can avoid it, you will not blame anyone

  • Ranging from VMs to new ESXi hosts on former ESXi hosts?

    People,

I was wondering what is the situation with the execution of virtual machines created on the new version of ESXi on guests.

Example - if I have a host running 5.1 and running software to replicate to 4.1 running nightclub, the VMs system will start?

    Hello

Depends on the vm hardware version it sir - take a look at the table in the blog entry

    http://blogs.VMware.com/vSphere/2013/02/managing-virtual-hardware-versions-during-a-vSphere-upgrade.html

It gives a breakdown of the versions hw VM supported for different versions of ESX.

    Hope this helps

  • vSphere Client 5 U1 unable to connect to the host of U1 ESXi 4.1

    Hello

    I'm having a small problem.

I am currently using vSphere Client 5 U1 (5.0.0 Build 623373) to connect directly to ESXi hosts (still no vCenter).

I can connect successfully to 5.0 U1 hosts, but I have a few hosts U1 4.1 inherited in the lab which I just can't connect with.

A little research in the compatibility tables show that with the most recent client, I should be able to connect do former ESXi hosts.

However, when I try to connect to this host U1 4.1, I get a popup to update with the message "customer support required files must be extracted from the 'vsphereclient.vmware.com' server and installed". And then I get a prompt to install/save a Setup program.

What is this new installer? Another version of the Client? Have I not the newest one? Anyway, I can't complete the download for this new installer (connection failure).

The host of ESXi 4.1 is on the network and I can connect with an older Client (4.1) that is installed in a different workstation.

    What happens here?

    Thanks in advance!

You must install as vSphere client major versions (3, 4, 5) but VMware tries to make this process as transparent as possible. That's why it asks to install it automatically.

Once installed, just launch v5 and it automatically and transparently pass the correct version if you connect to a 4.x server.

  • To hardware Version 7 computers virtual in VMWare Server 2.0.2 ESXi 5

    Hello world

Taking his retirement from 2 host vmware server computers.  They run Server 2008 64 with VMWare server 2.0.2.  Each host has 3 VMs Windows, 6 in total, all configured with Hardware Version 7

The plan is to set up a new host running ESXi 5.  Install, configure and ready for deployment.  After you have configured the data stores, I want to spend my VMs the 2 old servers a new box of ESXi 5.

I'll copy all virtual machines from the old servers to individual folders on my Windows 7 Desktop and use the vSphere client to load the virtual machines on new data stores.

I read that ESXi 5 can read Version 7 VMs.  Does this mean I can use the virtual machine as is, or still need to convert the hard?  I would like to convert them before their download?  I'm a little gray in this area...

Can you get it someone more experienced please let me know the step by step... or a link to a good "how to" I would really appreciate it.

    Thank you

There is nothing for you. VMware Converter takes care of this. It will not only increase the size of the disc, but also the size of the partition.

  • updated images of VMware Server to use in ESXI server

    Hello

I just have a lot of virtual machines that has been configured and used by vmware server 1. Now, I'll use ESXI server, when I downloaded the images to the esxi server and tried to run, I had a mistake in VMDK. Is it possible for me to change VMDK and use these old images or I need to reconstruct images from scracth. also, is there any availbale tool to update my old images to use ESXI?

    Thank you

ESXi does not support the scattered disk format used by VMware Server by default. What you can do is to follow the recommendations of weinstein5and use VMware Converter or convert the hard file in a supported format (zeroedthick, eagerzeroedthick or thin) using the vmkfstools in ESXi command line tool.

Assuming that the virtual disk has no snapshots, you can follow these steps in order to maintain the virtual disk file name.

    • create a 'old' subfolder in the folder of the VM on the ESXi host and move the hard files in this folder
    • Basic virtual machine folder run for example vmksftools old-i /hard-d thin vmname.vmdk
    • If the virtual machine lights without problem, you can remove the "old" subdirectory

  • Move the virtual machine from one host to another ESXi

    Hi all

Quick question, if I wanted to move a virtual machine hosted on a server ESXi ESXi server what is the easiest way? Should I use the converter to do?

    Thank you

    ESXi 4.1 (Vsphere Hypervisor)

So have free Vmware Vsphere Client

In this case, the options are:

    • Standalone converter
    • Browser data store (download and transfer files)
    • SCP or FastSCP and then add the virtual machine to inventory with the browser data store
  • VMware HA with 2 x ESXi and Dell MD3000i?

    Hi all

I have a task at hand to set up with VMware HA.

    What I've done so far,

    (1) to this end, I have 2 identical Dell PE 2950 servers and Dell MD 3000i as storage device.

    (2) installed ESXi 4 in servers (ESXi1 and ESXi2) and configured the static IP.

    (3) I configured the iSCSI SAN (MD3000i) and created the host (VMHA) group.  Added the two hosts in the host group

    (4) virtual disk created, which will be shared by both hosts and it mapped to the host group.

I know how to install vCenter and how to create the HA cluster as well as adding guests inside.  But before that, I have a few questions.

According to the theory the shared storage must be accessible by the two hosts.  How can I add storage shared on SAN in the hosts.  I know that the navigation, but miss me the theory somewhere.  I added shared as Datastore2 and ESXi1 and formatted with VMFS3 storage.  Now how could I add the same storage shared in ESXi2?  When I tried to add, the steps asked me to format again shared storage that I can't do?

Thank you all for all the remedies fast

    Nadine

You analyze it again on the second (and subsequent).   Add the that storage is being used on the first host.

  • vSphere Host Update Utility & ESXi 4.0 Upgrade

I'm trying to upgrade a system ESXi 3.5 to ESXi 4.0.  I use the guide at:

    http://www.VM-help.com/esx40i/ESXi40_upgrade_without_virtualcenter.php

When I lauch the vSphere Host Update Utility 4.0, I have a popup that informed me it must download the patches to enable the fix on a functional level.  Problem is the patches are not download or install.  Did someone knows a way I can manually download the patch and install it?  Here is what says the update utility:

vSphere Host Update Utility to download the patches from the VMware fix repository to enable the functionality of patch.  You still want to connect to the VMware patch repository?

    Yes or no

For the upgrade process, you need the full ZIP file for ESXi 4.0.

Patching is the next step, but the fist you need to do the upgrade step.

  • Problem connecting vSphere client to a host ESX or ESXi to

I have tried with an ESXi host so an ESX host.  I spent the installation on a square between hypervisors, as well as to try on another box.  I have redownloaded the two hypervisors and check that they match checksums, I reinstalled the customer charge downloads of both vSphere host as well as the www.vmware.com/downloads.

Whenever I try to connect to a host, I get the same error.  First of all, I get:

Error analysis of the file "clients.xml" Server "192.168.2.195".  Logon will continue, contact your system administrator.

After clicking on OK, I get this error:

The initializer for type for 'VirtualInfrastructure.Utils.HttpWebRequestProxy' threw an exception.

I would appreciate a suggestion or an explanation of what is the question.

    Thank you!
