Vmware workstation in office of the local host connectivity
Hello
I built and workstation windows 2008 Server using vmware 7.1.5. This vmware is installed on the computer laptop windows 7. Is there anyway I can ping the vmware of my laptop or connect using desktop remotely? I want to connect to a database server installed on the vmware... a customer database tool that is in my local mobile. Pls let me know if its possible.
PS: Earlier I used vmware player and I remember that I could do the above. Without doubt, I had to play with the configuration of the vmware player network adapter (NAT, host-only, etc.).
Kind regards
Kalyan
Bridged Networking will allow you Vrtual Machine to use your network infrastructure - if you automatically receive an IP address by a DHCP server on your network, your virtual machine will be assigned an IP address if it is configured for DHCP.
If you have enabled remote access is currently running on the guest VM and then you should be able to use the Dekstop Client remotely on your laptop and connect to the IP address assigned to the computer - virtual

'VMware Workstation does not support the multiple monitors feature in other guests'
When I click the icon "Cycle multiple monitors", I get the message "VMware Workstation does not support the multiple monitors feature in other guests." Google found me no hits on it. Anyone know what that means or how I could get multiple monitors to work?
The host OS is Windows 7 Professional x 64 with service pack 1 applied. The guest operating system is Debian Linux, version 8, also 64-bit.

Linux debianvm 3.16.0 - 4-amd64 SMP 3.16.7 - ckt9-3 #1 ~ deb8u1 Debian (2015-04-24) x86_64 GNU/Linux
The virtual machine was created with VirtualBox, then exported to a .ova file, then imported into VMware Workstation. VMware Workstation is version 11.1.2 build-2780323.

Hi Steve and welcome on VMware communities!
With your virtual machine turned off the power, go into the settings of your virtual machine and on the Options tab, under general, select the client OS type: Linux > Debian 7 64-bit. Then try to turn your virtual computer and see if it works. (8 debian is quite close to Debian 7.)
See you soon,.

VMware workstation tray icon starts the Notepad?
Whenever VMware Workstation 11 runs in the background and I double click on the icon my computer - Notepad opens instead of VWware workstation on the host. The same thing happens if I right click and select "Open VMware Workstation. This was happening before you install version 11. I was hoping that the new version/installation might solve the problem.
Since the installation of version 11 - I tried to uninstall and reinstall the application. I also tried to uninstall, run the application to install with the option "/ clean" and then reinstalling with reboot between each. I also tried the suite "The clean after an incomplete installation on a Windows Welcome guide" all with the same effect.
Any ideas? Other then not being able to open VMware Workstation via the everything tray icon works great.

Dual NVIDIA Quadro K4000

After digging through many areas I final found the resolution to this problem. The question which was the file extension. VMX was assigned to Notepad. A quick reallocation in the 'Default settings programs' window and everything is fine.

Problem connecting to the local host
I am trying to connect to my localhost server if I can use my program of EasyPHP. I tried connecting on Internet Explorer and Firefox but not able to connect to the local host. When I ran Windows diagnosis, I got this error message
"localhost is not configured to establish a connection on port"World Wide Web Service (HTTP)"with this computer. -What this means and how can I solve the problem? Could a firewall be the cause?I have mysql on my computer. When I ran today, he did let me get to my databases. When I used the root username, it not let me access it. Usually, I'm able to access without having to use a user name or password. Don't you think that this has nothing to do with why I can't connect to the local host to my internet?Thank you.Hello
I suggest you post the same question in the Microsoft Technet forum for assistance.

Hello
In Event Viewer, I see a lot of mistakes like:
Source: The customers DNS events
There was an error trying to read the local hosts file.
I read that threat indicating to rename the hosts for "hosts" file
http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-networking/system-log-shows-repeating-error-code-3221225485/3700e855-ded4-4F12-960f-1577f6132c04
HOWEVER, the name of the file in my computer appears as it should
C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc / "hosts".
and the content of the file is as it is supposed to be according to: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034
What should I do to fix this error?
P.S. I suspect my computer is compromised. Last weekend, Security Essentials has reported a malicious file backdoor and it has been deleted, but I have a weird behavior of the computer
Thank you
Veronica
Try to re-create the hosts file.
Open Notepad as administrator (click right on the Notepad icon or shortcut and click Run as admin) and type the following information in it:
127.0.0.1 localhost
: 1 localhost
The '1' in the '127.0.0.1' must be in the first column of the line and there must be at least one space between "127.0.0.1" and "localhost". In the second line, there must be at least one space between ": 1" and "localhost".
Save the file with name "hosts" in the C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc folder.

You seem to have a hard drive problem. Please provide a copy of your system information file. Type the system information in the search box above the Start button and press the ENTER key (alternative is select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, system information). Select file, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Not to place the cursor in the body of the report before exporting the file. The system creates a new information file system each time system information is available. You must allow a minute or two before the file is completely filled before exporting a copy. Please download to your OneDrive (formerly Sky Drive), share with everyone and post a link here. Normal mode preferred report. Please say if the report was obtained in safe mode.

Using wordpress on the local host
I know that my post is not specific to DW. I got a lot of help here, so I'll ask the question. My ultimate goal is to work with a form of WP site in DW.
I installed xampp and wp on my localhost. I successfully copied and installed in xampp/htdocs/xampp all the site files and the MySQL database file from an existing WordPress custom theme site online. I can open the website on my localhost and I can connect to the WP Dashboard on my local host. all messages and pages and the plug ins and everything is there. The site looks and works on my localhost, just as it does online. Yes.
But there is a problem, and I just can't understand it. When I view the site on the local host - none of the navigation links work. For example, there are an 'INFO' menu nav element and a corresponding info page. I can see the INFO page and all of its contents in the WP Dashboard and change it in the editor dashboard. But if I click on preview, I get a "the requested URL was not found on this server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or outdated. "error. the same thing happens if I click on the link in the nav menu. This is true for all the menu pages/nav links.
I think that this is related to the permalinks and .htaccess file. If go to the section permalinks dashboard th GTE, which automatically results in a .htaccess file will be created at the root of the installation of WP. Once the file /htaccess is created I can't view the site on localhost. If I delete the .htaccess file I get the site back but with the nav link page not found problem
I googled the problem and tried a variety of things, including the links below, but just can't make it work.
http://www.lancelhoff.com/how-to-make-WordPress-permalinks-work-in-XAMPP/
http://www.PHP-developer.org/htaccess-in-WordPress-XAMPP-localhost/
Anyone here have experience with this and any suggestions? I am so close to have this job, but just can not pass it. TIA for any help.
Disable the permalinks when working locally.

VMware Player (VMware Workstation?) Interfere with the connection of the browser
I installed VMware Player (or so I think) on Vista Home Premium 32 - bit SP2. Here's what the Properties tab - & gt; Details shows for "C:\Program VMware Player\vmplayer.exe:
Description of the file: VMware Player
Type: Application
File version: 6.5.4.11892
Product name: VMware Workstation
Product version: 6.5.4.11892
Copyright: (c) 1998-2010 VMware, Inc..
Size: 3.06 MB
Updated: March 31, 2010 23:31
Language: English (United States)I looked for this in order to make the version of the
-what?-VMware Player or VMware Workstation I, and in order to find the right users Guide or manual. But this isn't my problem entirely.
My problem is that I was using my HTTP (browser) client and it has been noticed that I could not connect to certain websites (e.g., http://www.gnu.org/). I can do that at home, through my wireless router (configured for IP) static on the local network. Then I go to work where I use the ethernet connection (not getting any IP by DHCP!... configured for a static IP address on the WAN). I call tech info, that says they can connect. I think it's because I'm using OpenDNS instead of the name of University servers, and then I enter the "Network Sharing Center' and see 'several networks' and THREE Local (ethernet) connections.
After that think "WTF?" and think that 2 local connections and 3 are screwing things up, I disable all local connections and re-enable the connection with the hardware ethernet card. Who has NOT solved the problem of my failed to connect to the web site, that is
http://grub4dos.sourceforge.NET/
The service
http://GSiteCrawler.com/tools/server-status.aspx
reports the HTTP 200 response code very quickly. I use this service to see if the info tech group workplace blocks a web site.
However, I want to learn more about virtual network maps created by the VMware Player (desktop?). I ran the "vmnetcfg.exe" interface and in the Summary tab, see:
Virtual network
Subnet
DHCP
VMnet0 (bridged)
255.255.255.255
VMnet1 (host only)
192.168.136.0
Activated
VMnet8 (NAT)
192.168.219.0
Activated
The guide I want to read should explain what are these local ethernet adapters and they can interfere with the operation of the host outside of the virtual machine.
Thank you
Welcome to the forums!
The guide: http://pubs.vmware.com/ws7_ace26/ws_user/ws_net.html#989125
Where is your problem to browse occur? In comments or host?
VMnet0 is the virtual bridged network. He connected the virtual NETWORK adapter of your guests who are bridge transparently to your physical network device.
VMnet1 is the network invited only, a virtual, where the host and the guests are members of. You see a VMnet1 NIC on the host, because it's the virtual card that the host uses to connect to VMnet1.
VMnet8 is the NAT network. It connects to each stack TCP/IP Protocol on the host computer. Therefore the guest may use any communication device that uses TCP/IP. Th egust is hidden behind the NAT device. This means that all packets leaving the host, coming from the prompt appear to come from the host. VMnet8 virtual card is one that connects to the host on VMnet8 virtual network to enable external communication for the customer.

If you are using VMrun on VMware workstation, is limited to your own host only?
The documentation for vmrun is not clearly declare that you can use the vmrun commands against vmware workstation against a local host, but it seems to imply it because it shows no syntax to enter a host address. The specified syntax is «vmrun t ws...» »
If I try a syntax such as "vmrun t ws h https://10.10.10.101/sdk u Pei pass list of users" (and this isn't my local address), then it always gives me a list for my own local copy of the workstation, not the remote copy.
I would like someone who knows for sure check for me that with VMware workstation, it is impossible to use vmrun on a remote host, or if it is possible, what is the syntax. I want to be able to talk with the remote host and virtual machines remotely.
If it can be done with vmrun, can it be done with the toolkit of perl, or any other API. I realize that most of these types of things is oriented toward infrastructure products.
I don't think exposes one api for the workstation on http network, and thus, you wouldn't be able to handle it this way.

HP ProLiant BL680cG7 and the local host on SSD Cache
Hello community,
At the beginning of the installation of an HP BL680cG7 blade, the ESXi 5 installation program shows me the local SSD drives configured as "remote storage".
Very interesting
Here is an Article on this subject:
Or:
http://communities.VMware.com/message/1687257
But now my problem:
After installation complete, I can´t enable "Cache host", because the configured local SSD are presented as "Non - SSDS' readers? !
Anyone has an idea why I can't use the local SSD for the host Cache?
HP SAS - SSD is not compatible?
SSDS are pluggable drives to HP, 200 GB default host.
Thank you, Jo!

If it is possible to check below links and if necessary you can run the required commands of "Tag as SSD devices"

The official version said that WS allows only virtual up to 8 TB of disk.
According to my own tests, it only limits the size of the VMDK for 'New - VM' Assistant.
Once you have a greater vmdk - just tried a vmdk 10TB - WS won't complain about the size.
I don't expect that WS will prevent the physical disks to use inside a virtual machine that is already configured.
So in your case I think you started WS with a normal user account.
Try to start as administrator WS - maybe even using the administrator account.
I think that then it will work.
Unfortunately, the error messages produced by vmware.exe are not really accurate-, so there is no way to know if you really have a bad super block.
To test if this is really the problem and not just an error message - poor try to mount the drive directly.
Please post the vmdk - want to know if there is something unusual about 5.5 TB in the disk. -
Why vmware workstation does not mask the cpuid SYSCALL/SYSRET little?
I am running VMware workstation 11.1.3 on linux. In my client operating system 64-bit, I notice that cpuid for eax = 0 x 8000001 returns a value edx masks who has always little 11. It's the bit SYSCALL/SYSRET ability.
Here is the part of the vmware.log file shows the parameters of my hostCPUID:
2016 02-03 T 15: 59:19.629 - 08:00 | VMX | I120: hostCPUID level 80000001, 0: 0x00000000 0x00000000 0 x 00000021 0x2c100800
As you can see, edx is 0x2c100800, which means that my system is capable of SYSCALL/SYSRET.
I tried to add the following to my vmx file:
monitor_control.enable_fullcpuid = 'TRUE '.
CPUID.80000001.EDX = '-:-:-:-:-: 1 -: -: - ".
Unfortunately, even with these settings, my diary of vmware shows no entry in the section 'Differences CPUID of hostCPUID' to cpuid.80000001.
As a test, I tried to change bit 10 instead of 11 to cpuid.80000001.edx bits and the difference that presented themselves. So what is the 11 bit characteristic, and why is he always have hidden inside the virtual machine no matter what I do?
Thank you.
You check what code 64-bit or 32-bit code in compatibility mode? Mode 32 bits (legacy and compatibility), only AMD processors set this bit.
