VoP and PHEVS 3.0/3.1

Hi all

I'm new to VoP and am currently evaluating it for a PHEV environment. I have followed the installation procedure, enabled the collection history on PHEV-M, but trying to add to the VoP I get message about rhevm_history of database could not be found.

The rhevm_history has been renamed to ovirt_engine_history at some point between 3.0 and 3.1

Is there a way to specify the name of the comic on VoP configuration?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Rob.

Hi Rob,

At present, there is no.  However, in less than 2 weeks, the new version of VoP support PHEVS 3.1 and the problem will be taken care.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

    Hi all

The initial configuration by adding the vcenter for VoP Standard Server 6.3 I get an error "the specified host does not exist or cannot be contacted" after 10 seconds of message 'discovery of servers '. I ping the vcenter from the console. Someone has experienced the same problem? What port VoP tries to connect to vcenter?

If I enter a non-existent host then it also throws this error immediately.

    Using vcenter 5.1

    Thank you

    Peter

    Hi Peter,.

    A few things to note:

    1. Try to use the domain name COMPLETE for the host.
    2. Check the credentials in use
    3. The TCP 443 port must be opened between the VoP and vCenter.
  • Assessment of vFoglight vs Veeam One - newbie questions

    HI -.

IM evaluate vFoglight vs Veeam One in our VMware environment, and I have a few questions I can't fix.

-J' I need to display all data warehouses with an option for a provisioning (how well stocked and how is used/free). I couldn't find this option.

It is there a way to a top list of VMS with Active snapshots?

-Is it possible to create the service in vFoglight (non-administrative) users, who can monitor only VMS I decide?

-What excactly is the difference between Standard VoP and vFoglight (Enterprise version), and why do I need both?

    Kind regards

    Bjørn Tore

    Hi Bjern-Tore

1.) here is a link that will tell you how to proceed: http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/virtualization/infrastructure/b/storage-blog/archive/2012/03/28/thin-provisioning

2.) If you go to the reports, there is a snapshot report open. This will tell you your shots.

3.) Yes, there are many roles that can be defined. You can link these roles Auditors AD. Under the houses, go to Administration, user and security management...

    (4) the difference is VoP Server Standard is a virtual solution, that can help with capacity Mgt, optimization/Automation, Chargeback. vFoglight business means you get VoP, more features vFoglight vFoglight - with detailed reports, dashboards, analysis of performance depth - are more than one business control solution - you can also monitor storage, AD, Exchange, databases, networks, physical servers, you can see inside the guest o/s. Throughout with a single window.

  • Announces vFog and VoP - what he done for me?

I watched the preso 10 minutes by vKernel marketing people and left again to wonder what this merger produced means for customers like me. I had 4 representative of Quest account in the past 6 months because they seem to be falling like flies or are "moved" in the quest, so I'm not even sure who my rep is now to ask questions to. Anyone here who knows?

    1. why would I want to use VoP if I am a customer of vFoglight?

    2. why would I want to pay more money for a product already does most of what made vFoglight (like double the price by the proc)?

3 support for the products should be confusing at best because this really isn't a single product, but separate the 2 products. VFog Quest people are trained on VoP? And vice versa?

I hope someone can clear the air on this merger. I really miss Vizioncore.

    -Mike

    Hi, Mike,.

My apologies that I have been unable to clarify better in the webinar. I will try to answer your questions here. First, however, I must point out again once the new VoP Server Standard and Enterprise Edition is rebrandings of existing products. VOP Server Standard now includes the former VoP of VKernel Suite with 4 products. VoP Server Enterprise edition consists of two vFoglight and VoP Suite. It is true today that the unified product consists of two disconnected products, but this will change over time.

    1. you can't, and that's fine. However, the VoP Suite provides a bit of functionality that is not in vFoglight around capacity management and optimization (and of course the opposite is true - vFoglight provides some functionality that is not in VoP Suite). VFoglight update to the VoP Server Enterprise edition lets you to additional features, but also new features in the future.

    2. customer vFoglight as you have the opportunity to upgrade to Server Enterprise VoP priced very low. I'd be happy to connect to the right rep for more information - just sent me your name/company to eric.jackson to quest.com. There are two reasons, you can do this: you want to have access to additional features that are available today in the other product or you want to take advantage of prices below to access the new features of Enterprise edition as they come out. However, there is no requirement that you do.

    3. Yes, we cross-training on both products.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me by email as well if you have any other questions.

  • Update the vmWare tools in VoP via vCenter

I'm still new to this community and I hope I'll catch up here soon, but I'm not sure of the update process the vmtools on the device of VoP. I know once I spunt'sand he upwards and configured the IP etc, the vCenter as the tools were obsolete. Tonight is our night of patch management and we'd get VoP abreast, as far as tools go. What is the process to get this done? Do I just shoot vCenter or are there steps to perform on the server of VoP so.

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hi David,

You can update VMWare Tools on the device in the same way as you would for any virtual machine of OpenSUSE Linux.  This can be done manually from the console if vCenter may not withdraw that, alone.

    I hope this helps!

  • Change the VoP url in vCenter plugin

We notice that the VoP vCenter plugin accesses our server of VoP by IP address, which generates warnings of certificate. How/where can we change the current https:// the plugin url seems to use something like https:// ?

    Hello

When this happens, the easiest way to fix is to remove the plugin from vCenter manually, by following this process:

First, clear the checkbox for the Plugin from vCenter in VoP under settings-> General-> tab environment for the server vCenter in question.

Then follow these steps to remove the plug-in to vCenter:

    1. In a web browser, navigate to http://Server vcenter or IP name/mob.
Where the server vcenter or IP name is the name of your server vCenter or its IP address
    2. Click on content.
    3. Click ExtensionManager.
    4. Select and copy the name of the plug-in to remove from the list of values under properties.
    5. Click UnregisterExtension. A new window appears.
    6. Paste the name of the plug-in, and then click the Invoke method. This command deletes the plug-in.
    7. Close the window.
    8. Refresh the window of Managed Object Type: ManagedObjectReference:ExtensionManager to check if the plugin is removed successfully.

Note: If the plugin continues to appear, you may need to restart the vSphere Client.

Finally, re-check the plugin at the entrance of the vCenter server in VoP to have re - install the plugin making reference to the new IP address.

In the future, before changing the IP address of VoP, remove the checkbox on the entrance of the vCenter server and save.  Which will automatically remove the plugin entry, then you can re - check this last after the VoP IP is updated.

  • VoP Manager ability

    Hello

Is it possible in the capacity manager or anywhere else in VoP to see what is the potential for adding new virtual machines for adding resources to the ESXi hosts in a cluster. Currently, I can see how much more VMs are possible if, given the specific resources that currently exist on ESXi hosts in a cluster. I was wondering if there was a way to see if I added more memory to each host ESXi VMs more how would be possible then. Also, if I have increased the size of the data stores can I get specific stats on how many virtual machines could more be greeted at these new resources?

    Thank you.

    Fernando

That is right. The number of availability of capacity is the result of the analysis the resources used, the resources available, the HA configuration settings, resource conflicts and certainly the size of virtual machine calculated (or set manually).

For more details on how you calculate available capacity, see the product documentation.

  • VoP 6.3 Java with Heatmap issues?

It seems that I'm struggling to get heat map working at the point 6.3. I use firefox 18.0.1 and I approved the java applet to run whenever I log on the site of VoP. I did some research more and find the source of the problem. There are problems of implementation in the heat map with Cisco AnyConnect VPN. I ended up having to disable IPv6 on my VPN client to get the heat map to run.

  • read and write performance vm information top 10

    Hello

I wonder if it is possible to have some information about reading and write the totals of the IOPS / s and latency? The only one i have now in Explorer 'storage '. "VM performance top 10" is average information and tip of the Ops / s and latencies. I need information of reading and writing of the virtual machines instead of the totals.

    Thanks in advance.

    GER.

EDIT: I noticed that the discussion is started in the wrong forum. I use VoP server explore FREE

    Hello

Unfortunately, the free tool there is no distinction between read and write IOPS / s or latency.  They are grouped in a single total.

  • VOP standard server includes Modeler of ability?

If you have already installed in your server of VoP environment, means that that shape ability is included as a package it contains. I heard that if a part is the Modeler of capacity,

Although n video I've looked at they seem to have adopted additional. Should be downloaded separately?

    Hello

In what video you saw capacity model?  This product is no longer supported, and I'm curious where the video he mentions is, then it can be taken down.

Fortunately, its features are implemented in the part change Analyzer VoP Standard, as well as the scenario within vFoglight Modeler, so no separate download is required.

  • Can I change the root password in VoP Server Explorer?

    Hello

I was encouraged to see VoP Server Explorer, but my network does not have any system to have a default root password. Can I change the root user password?

    Thank you!

    Jennifer Flanagan

Altogether.  Just connect to the console as root and type 'passwd' to change the root password.  Be sure to keep track of what you set, because there is little recourse except in single-user mode if it goes astray.

  • ESXi and an old EMC CX-200

    Hello

I built a laboratory with a couple of Dell 2950 s so far, a switch of brocade SAN and EMC cx-200.  I had the CX200 for more than 10 years and it works perfectly :-) nice piece of kit for a laboratory, as far as I'm concerned...

Don't know if there's someone that even these remembers, but I take a stab in the dark here...

My problem is that my ESXi hosts do not seem to register with her.  (everything works well, the guests see all storage) I don't see no host the cx-200.  Normally with our new VNX, hosts automatically record their WWN.  This does not happen with my cx-200, so I'm expecting to rounding is fairly new, or it may never have been supported.

There is a way to manually add hosts, but surprisingly, he asked an IP address rather than a WWN.  When I put the IP address of the ESXi servers in, it says that it cannot communicate with the host... that does not surprise me much.

So I guess maybe there is someone who needs to go on the ESXi hosts for this to work because I can't find the configuration settings ESXi to push the record to an IP address.

Does anyone know if there is an agent who goes on ESXi hosts?  and if yes is this abvailable, or could it be something to EMC, I guess they no longer or give because they want me to buy a NEW SAN :-(which I will obviously not do for my laboratory...

Comments or ideas on this would be very appreciated.  It is not essential, but I really wanted to mask one LUN on the SAN that I need to connect to multiple hosts who will run PHEVS.  Obviously I can hide the LUN to the ESXi esxcli level... but just wondering whether or not it is a dead-end on the SP side

    Thank you

    Bill

To be honest I have first experience with CX300, but it should work on CX200 as well. To work around the problem, you can manually record on EMC Navisphere host. If I remember well there are Navisphere GUI button for it but it can be done simply through NaviCLI.

Manually enter the path with host, SP, port, initiatortype, failovermode and array commpath defined. You can repeat the command for each entry.

    navicli h 10.32.167.35 storagegroup - setpath-gname-o - SGNAME - hbauid 50:06:01:60:B9:A0:4 D: 58:50:06:01:63:39:A0:4 D: 58 - sp a - adapter 1 - type 3 - ip 10.1.1.1 - host HOSTNAME - failovermode 1 - arraycommpath 1

Because you do not have the EMC CX agent on hosts (ESX host) you'll have to discover WWN of your self, but this isn't a big problem, right?

    is this possible?

    What should I do?

    Matt

When you get the new iPod, you can use iTunes on your computer to select and synchronize the music you want on it, in the same way that you synchronize your current iPod - your iTunes will recognize them as different devices and will remember your choice of synchronization for each, it will not (unless, for example, you restore the backup of your current on her iPod) put the same content on both.

(I asked for your post be moved to the iPod Touch forum, where you have posted is the iPad forum use.)

  • Why my notes sync between my Mac and iPhone?

I have my MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks and my iPhone is running iOS 10.0.1 and used to synchronize my notes! Is it because of the huge gap in operating systems? I SHOULD update my Mac to Mac OS 10.10 + for this problem? Thank you!

In order to synchronize Notes between your Mac and iPhone, you must configure iCloud > http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/

But this requires macOS Sierra 10.12, the latest available version and the last iOS available for your iPhone.
