Vs Enterprise Desktop Hard Drives

It really worth the extra cost to go with the company of the hard disks, especially when used in a RAID?

After in office drives a few years when the price difference was half, but now this difference (although still important) is no longer that much, I wonder if it is useful to readers of the business for the added rliability.

Admitedly, I didn't have problems over the past four years with failed drives in my existing RAID arrays.

See you soon,.
Michael

Michael,

I have no definitive answer for you, opinions on this seem to differ, but let me give you three examples of persons with very large paintings in their system, who have no problems with consumer drives.

Baz, Studio North and myself use 12 + Samsung Spinpoints consisting of drive bays, F3 and F1, respectively, and Bill Gehrke uses an array of same of grand - IIRC - Seagate 7200.12. None of us has never had problems with our tables.

With the number of disks involved the price difference in total consumer and business records and saw the negative effects on one of our raids of parity. Beware however that the same does not apply to the WD black Caviar, there are many reports on problems with TLER which makes them unsuitable for parity RAID but reports say that, for raid0 configuration, they are OK.

  • How to remove HP Pavilion a1514n desktop hard drive?

I just bought a new desktop computer and need to take my old one at Best Buy for recycling, and I know that they charge to remove the hard drive.

I have opened the case and pulled out the 2 screws that hold the drive hard into the cage and disconnected the cables... but I can't get to the two screws on the opposite side, who seem to hold the drive in place.

Any advice to reach the elusive side? I looked everywhere on the web for the last 5 hours, without success.

  • HPE-495 desktop - HARD drive is u/s, please help to rebuild with SSDS

    Hi all

[[2 TB Hitachi SATA 3.0 GB/s] HARD drive GL8E]. The current failed HARD drive is connected to the sata1 and there is a spare on the motherboard sata2. Spare power supplies available [CH 4 & ch 5]. Office was running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I would like to install a 840 EVO Samsung 250 GB SSD SATA 3 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1 and a second [still undecided 2 TB Western Digital SATA 3] as data drive.

These discs are backaward compatible with the existing architecture of SATA - y at - it all isuues with this proposal, would I need to make changes to the BIOS, other than this initial boot off dvd player to install the new windows on the ssd drive?

    Thank you very much.

If you replace the current HARD drive with SSD in SATA1, new in SATA2 HARD drive and let the CD/DVD in SATA3 on your HP Pavilion Elite HPE-495uk desktop, your computer should boot the Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit DVD into the CD/DVD drive. This assumes that the disks are new with absolutely no data on them. You may need to, press the "ESC" key or the "F # ' suitable for your computer, select the CD/DVD drive as a boot device.

  • Equium A100-147: can I connect my laptop to my desktop hard drive?

My computer laptop satellite has a permanent error when I turn it on: "autochk program not found - skipping autocheck.

I've tried everything I can think (and advice of you internet) to get the data on my laptop hard drive, including the creation of a boot disk (using an external floppy drive) and a knoppix disk and nothing worked.

Now, I suppose that if I can connect the hard drive laptop on my desk, I can get the data in this way? But how can I do?

I bought an IDE 3.5 "to 2.5" adapter disk hard drive, but the instructions indicate that laptop hard drive must have a male connector 44? The hard drive is a Toshiba MK6034GSX and when I removed it I couldn't see 44 pine?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Yes you can do it, but you need USB 2.0 2.5 hard drive enclosure Kit ".
Make sure that you buy a box with the right interface. Your HARD drive is SATA HDD.

If you can connect the laptop HDD s to every desktop or laptop as external HARD drive and you will have access to all stored data.

  • Pavilion p6610f Desktop Hard Drive will not be reset to zero when you restart

HP Pavilion p6610f than Desktop PC Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit HDD (I think) could not restart. There was no indication of a problem before me by clicking on the button restart. I have this sometimes just to clarify things, looks like things work better. When it restarted, it went to a screen with 2 choices 'launch start repair or load normally. I chose startup repair. He loaded some files & drivers but finally comes to the screen 'blue '. I tried to start the computer with all the 'F' keys, none worked, always came back to the blue screen. Tried to start the recovery discs I did, same thing. I started with the ERD that I did it. Same thing. Would not not even go to Safe Mode. Nothing. But, there is no prior problems. Nothing made me think that I should do something to deal with a disaster. Then a "friend of a friend" came and replaced the hard 'for free' drive and installed windows 8 (which I hate) and now the computer makes a ticking noise and a sound plaintive, as when there is a bad DVD in the drive, it work so now slow, freezes, takes internet forever and made so much noise I think it's going to explode. I think I should replace the hard drive with the "right" and then use my recovery disks. He said that windows 8 was just too big of an OS for the hard drive, it took, that is why it is slow. But couldn't I erase or reformat the hard disk, and then use my recovery disks. As it is, I have no HP software on the computer more.  Is there a way to get the data from my old hard drive? I'm willing to take the time to learn how to do all this by myself if I knew that this is possible and if it is useful? [edited font color and characters]

    Hello Ty965,

I understand that you fell on some hard drive problems and a friend of a friend installed a former player for you and since he turned slowly and noisily. Personally, I recommend that you buy a new hard drive and then review and follow the instructions on the HP Support document: performing a recovery of HP (Windows 7) system, which will guide you through the recovery process and get your computer back operational.

If you don't have the recovery discs for your computer you can buy them for a cheap price of HP Media software and the drivercommand.

I hope that I have addressed the issue to your satisfaction. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Helps to remove the HP Pavilion Desktop Hard Drive

So recently I bought your desktop HP Pavilion from Best Buy a few months ago. Thing was running great until this morning, when the hard drive has suddenly decided to go belly and FRY on me. I called HP Support and they are sending me a free HD to replace the bad, but I need to remove and return them. No problem, I think I'll open the chassis out. Little I didn't know...

I really don't know who designed this thing inside, but to reach the screws to remove the hard drive is almost impossible for someone like me who has no specialized tools. I got two of the screws, but the front rear one I can barely see and even less to reach, and I don't know there's a fourth that I can't even imagine reaching. I hope someone can give me something special or a detail that I'm missing that will make this possible, if not, I am at a loss how to proceed.

Here is the info on the machine:

    HP Pavilion Media Center

    Product: KT334AA-ABA

    Model: m8530f

If it is necessary, I'll post a picture of her womb. If anyone has any info that can help me to disassemble this beast, I would be eternally grateful!

You must insert the personal media at the front of the computer player. Remove the front panel, remove the screws which fix the cage of the front's personal media players and pull the Green tab by dragging the cage in the front. You will then be able to easily remove the drive.

Do not hesitate to call HP, they will be happy to help you with the installation of the replacement drive.

  • The Pavillion desktop hard drive cage removal

My computer warns of hard drive failure imminent, so I record everything with cloning software, got a new drive and opened the compujter to disks.

My computer has a "flag" on the front, but no label product identification!  Support forum for HPs shows how to remove the hard drive on two different cage styles desktop Pavilion, but mine is completely different.  Because I can't find a model number or product, I can't ask HP about it through their support email system.

The right side of the casing comes off, but the left side is riveted in place permanently.  There are two screws holding the cage to the frame, but after removing the cage remains stationary.

    Any suggestions?

  • Dell XPS8700 second desktop hard drive (internal drive to 3)

I plan to install a 2nd hard drive in my xps8700.  This desktop computer contains a cable of power/data drive already connected to the map ready for 2nd install drive, or should I buy separately besides the HDD?  If I have to buy, any recommended brand and model/type?

    Thanks, Larry

You don't have to use the SATA cable from the current optical drive for the new 3T HARD disc. He suggested because it might be easier to install.

That said, some systems want HDD of to be "ahead" of optical drives on SATA ports, but I don't think it's a problem with the 8700. If encounter you problems after installing the 3T HARD drive, take this into account.

Disks are shipped usually unformatted. Becomes too complicated before formatting, especially now there is a choice of MBR vs. GPT, and if the user wants to only one or several partitions, etc.

Post back and let us know how it goes.

  • HP Pavilion p6290d: change to smaller capacity desktop hard drive using the recovery disks

Currently my hard drive (750 GB) is having a problem. I have a spare hard drive (500 GB), I can replace the 750Go with the 500 GB hard drive using the recovery disks that I created when I got the pc?

    Hello:

All I can say is that you have nothing to lose to give a try.

500 GB could be sufficient to allow the recovery discs, you did to work.
