  Do, or you have installed Chrome? It appears that an update of Chrome, (mid April 2013), is responsible for the loss of the option new folder. Even if Chrome has not been installed, here are two patches.

  I have reinstalled Windows on a new hard drive installed in my old Dell from the original cd. Now when I try to create a new folder by right-clicking on a folder existing and selecting 'New' the only choice I get's Briefcase.   Vista family 32-bit premium get portfolio when I try to create new folders and when I download pictures, they show photos, I have to click them all to open?

  Close the browser and start a command prompt
  • Close Windows Explorer
  • Start - All Programs - Accessories - right on command prompt and choose run as administrator.
  • Click Start. Ctrl + Shift + Right-click on an empty spot (just above the power of buttons is one place) then Exit Explorer.
  • Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete then Task Manager.
  • Control all processes to explore are closed. On the process tab select explore and right-click and choose end process, repeat if more of an Explorer in the list.
   
  Then to restart the Explorer after trying all of the following
  • Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and choose Task Manager
  • In the Task Manager, click the file menu and then click new task (run) and enter explorer
  Delete the thumbnail and icon Caches
   
  Close the Explorer like above and then type at the command prompt (or copy and paste by clicking in the command prompt window and choose Paste).

  If I understand correctly, you cannot create new folders that you have only one option which is to create a portfolio.

  Towel makes a folder on your desktop.  In Windows Explorer, you'll find it under C:\Documents and Settings / [username] / Desktop/Briefcase.

  To remove the Briefcase on your computer, right-click on the icon portfolio (on your desktop).  Then click on remove.
