VSAN - Inaccessible VM / orphans?

Hi - I have a VSAN to 3 knots - version 6.0 - cluster 3073146.

All of a sudden I came to all guests of the cluster as inaccessible and orphaned.  There has not been change in this lab environment / I know.

Things I've tried so far:

With RVC and nothing else in various orders

Nothing appears in the data store browser

restart of the armed forces has no effect

esxi eagents restarting has no effect - reboot takes care of this, but I did any means until it recharges

Save and reload without effect all the vm

VSAN.clear_disks_cache - nothing

VSAN.check_state - this displays all objects and how they are inaccessible etc. - does not solve the

VSAN.purge_inaccessible_vswp_objects

I also changed the multicast on all 3 of the nodes, just for craps - nothing.  I did this under Cormacs site - VSAN troubleshooting Case Study - CormacHogan.com

What I'm missing here?

Need help/help please!

Thank you

Check out the KB referenced in the message. I think it's a question or turning off the feature and the disc Assembly of groups that have been dismantled, if my memory is (assuming that is the question, of course).

Do I need to worry? I don't think I'll be able to proceed with the upgrade with these inaccessible objects. I can see that there is a command to purge vswap files but I don't think this is related.

    If anyone can help?

Just display the resolution to my problem that I've finally sorted it all last week. No point in going to detail here, but I list exactly deliver and fix it in a blog that can be read here.

In short, we must work with GSS to remove objects manually from the affected our cluster node.

Thank you all for the help involved!

  • Cannot delete vm orphan and inaccessible from the inventory.

An accident during a svmotion, vm orphans and tried to readd to the inventory, but not luck.  I have since restored the virtual machine from a snapshot of the san and removed all the original files and it is now part of a new folder, but I can't remove 2 items in inventory that I tried from it readd after the initial failure.

I restarted the server, I rebooted mgmt-vmware and vmware-vmkauthd vpxa. -several times now.

VMware-cmd - l host does not list any reference to the virtual machine ghost.  Cannot remove vclient

vitoolkit (powershell) will list the 2 vms,

nothing I've tried annoys me to remove the orphan.

I worked with vmware on this issue support and ended up coming up with my own 'solution' if it's that a cluster just a fix is quite simple...  I had the same symptoms you had as well...

    1. place the knot in Maint Mode

2 remove the node from the Cluster

3 Add the node in the Cluster.

    Presto - fixed.

Question of fact, here's my thread of origin on this issue. http://communities.VMware.com/thread/203764?TSTART=0

According to me, the only drawback is that if you have Pools of resources in place it will be those screw up on this node/vm... but is it really wasn't a question/problem for me in my case...

  • vSAN upgrade from 5.5 to 6.0 - Timeout to complete the operation

    Hi all

I've been running a 5.5 vSAN configuration identical to William Lam to the virtual Ghetto (a killer custom installation of Apple Mac Mini running VSAN | virtuallyGhetto) for some time and the only reason not to upgrade more far was because of wanting to maintain a configuration of 5.x Horizon view inherited who needs vCenter 5.5. I've now decided this should not dictate my whole environment then after a successful move to 6.0 on the hosts and VCSA, I thought I would upgrade to vSAN 6 to take advantage of the improvements it brings, not to mention to remove the nagging alerts on the vSAN update available.

After running through the prerequisites this fact compensation involved in a number of vswp files inaccessible, vSAN reported a good state of health and so I started with the upgrade online, be sure to include - allow-reduced -redundancy I have a 3-node cluster.

When running and after about 20 minutes of nail biting (by accepting the fact that his machines of laboratory accommodation only, their fate can be determined by the success of failure of the upgrade), I received the following in the TVR: -.

: Deletion of this VSAN disk group failed

: A general error occurred: could not evacuate data for disk uuid 52da00fa-c8f2-fdb8-924c-3007d480ac4d with error: timeout to complete the operation

: Cannot delete the VSAN disk, leaving group.

: Upgrade tool stopped due to the error, please address reported the problem and run the tool again to complete the upgrade

Someone at - it guidance on how to approach the time-out, or he could escape that I would understand rather the root cause that blindly blow to remove all of the configuration and reboot.

    Thanks for your help!

    All the best

    Hi Duncan,.

I managed to work around the problem in the end, in a weird way. I ended up changing the default vSAN FTT from 0 to 1 storage policy and reapplied to redistribute the data or the light evenly on the hosts as expected to the compliance of the report. After a few hours, I then changed the default vSAN strategy towards an FTT of 0 and again applied. By running the TVR command with the parameter - allow_reduced_redundancy again by the failed sequel, but a quick check on the vSAN has shown that the majority of data consumption was now on the hosts 2 and 3 with a tiny 3 GB of use reported against the disk of the host of the first group. At that time, I've been manually the disk group on host 1 (choose not to evacuate the small amount of data that has been left). After you re-create the disk on the host group, it automatically came back in as v2 and I repeated the process described above in the other two hosts effectively the content of vSAN brewing between the hosts and drop what I believe has been corrupted/no valid data on the host group could not be evacuated by the upgrade process.

At the end of it, all my virtual machines survived the upgrade of vSAN.

    See you soon

You must locate the profiles.ini file and delete this file or use the Profile Manager to create a new profile.

    See:

This problem may be caused by a problem with the profiles.ini file or with the permissions (owner) of the concerned files.

You can use one of them to retrieve an existing profile or create a new default profile for Firefox:

    • Remove the profiles.ini file to make Firefox create a new profile (default)
    • Use the Profile Manager to create a new profile
If you have an existing profile, then click on "Choose a folder" in the Profile Manager and navigate to the location of a profile lost to recover this profile
      https://support.Mozilla.org/KB/managing+profiles

You should find the file profiles.ini in this hidden place:

    • Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\
      * C:\Users\ < user > \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\
    • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox /.
    • Linux: ~/.mozilla/firefox/

If the file profiles.ini compensation does not work then also check the location of the cache files.

    • Windows: * C:\Users\ < user > < profile > \AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\.
    • Mac: ~/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles/
    • Linux:~/.cache/Mozilla/Firefox/

You can also try to rename/delete the MozillaFirefox folder in the two above mentioned places (main, cache).

  • Error message: unable to load your Firefox profile. It may be missing or inaccessible

I know that others have had this problem but none of the validated answers turned out to be viable. When I try to start Firefox, the browser does not open and I see the following message appears: "unable to load your Firefox profile. It may be missing or inaccessible. "I am running Windows 8.1.

It's what happened leading up to this problem. I was passing through normally when I received a pop up message that says a threat has been detected, and Mozilla had a security patch that I have to download. This is the expedition of phishing malware believer, I closed the browser and restart the computer without having to download anything. When I restarted the computer, everything was normal and I googled for information on what had just happened, to see if I really needed a security patch. A forum suggested that I already have a virus/malware that caused the popup, and that I should deal with the possibility that updating Firefox. Then I refreshed Firefox, which seemed harmless enough. The update took the time, so I finally closed the window to refresh. Maybe I should let the window update but it was taken way too long - after that it's my problem to start with the error message.

Since then, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. I also deleted the profile folder in the hope that it would force the creation of a new folder. Nothing has worked. Someone has suggestions for Firefox run again?

    Thank you!

Hi jbspear, please press the windows key + r and open: %APPDATA%\protector.exe

There you should find a folder named "Mozilla". try to rename it to something like "Mozilla.bak" (or delete it if you don't like your old firefox bookmarks, passwords and customizations) and then try to restart firefox...

  • Frozen/inaccessible menu options

I used Version 28 (dead last) for years because I had problems with the newer versions are buggy on my old 2005 Dell Win_XP 32 bit desktop PC. I bought a new laptop HP15 a few months back (Win8.1 x 64) and were aired V.28 on it because she had more buttons toolbar available (download progress bar, the button Stop/Reload, old Style bookmarks Drop Down Menu). Today, I decided to upgrade to the latest version (38.0.1) and so far it has not seemed like an upgrade for me.

Missing taskbar buttons mentioned above are a gripe I have. Don't know why they have been removed from more recent versions, but that's for another time. My main problem with v.38, is that since I installed it, the Options menu is locked or inaccessible. When I open the Options, the menu that is displayed will doesn't let me click on anything, whether more there a strange button unmarked in the middle of the screen which does nothing when I click on it (see attached photo). I read some of your support items, but none seemed to solve the problem. I even changed the name of the existing Firefox folder and reinstalled a clean version that perhaps, since the first installation is just an upgrade rather than a new installation, something the previous v.28 may be in conflict with the new version, but still I can't access the Menu Options. He seems unmarked how key wants to click on me to perform a task or something before it won't let me access the Options, but as I said, clicking on it doesn't do anything. The button support when I click on it, but it stays on the screen and nothing happens then.

Any help would be appreciated. I might have to go back to the v.28 if the Options menu does not start working.

A likely cause is a problem with the file profiles.ini and the profile marked as the default value = 1 in this file is no longer present on the hard drive.

You can use one of them to make the Creation/use of a new default profile for Firefox:

    • Remove the profiles.ini file to force Firefox to create a new default profile

    • Use "Choose a folder" when you create a new profile to select the location of a lost profile and recover this profile

  • When I try to open firefox, it says "cannot load your Firefox profile. It may be missing or inaccessible. » ?

The reason why I deleted my firefox profile on my MAC and uninstalled firefox is because it was not appearing in the application menu or the dock and I have found whenever I wanted to use it. I couldn't put it on the dock or anything like that.
When I downloaded again and tried to start it, there was the error message, "unable to load your Firefox profile. It may be missing or inaccessible. "And now I can't use it at all.

You must remove the file profiles.ini so because Firefox registers all the profiles you see in the Profile Manager in this file and delete the file on disk, Firefox will display this error message.

Otherwise, you will need to use the Profile Manager to create a new profile.
