VSAN involved environmental: nested network

Hi all

I build a test VSAN env in nested environment, and I'm stuck with an error that seems to be not new with the implementation of VSAN.

I checked the various blogs and website and solution seems to be

  • Option 1 - Disable IGMP Snooping. Now, this will allow to all the multicast traffic through, but if the only traffic is VSAN, then this should be a significant amount of traffic and should be safe to use.
  • Option 2 - interrogator IGMP snooping to configure. If there is another multicast traffic and you fear that disabling IGMP snooping could open the network until a stream of multicast traffic, then this is the preferred option. Cisco in detail How to do this here.

But these virtual ESX in nested environments host is connected via vSwitch and there is no physical NIC conntect

Any help is very appreciated.

Thank you

Kapil

If you run nested, you configured the promiscuous mode and forged passes?

I already spoke with my ISP nothing helps technical support.

I recently created my desktop computer again after having been stored for several months. Before I put it there, I was using wireless internet and local wireline connections regularly and without problem, and now I can not access to either. I have a strong connection with the modem/router device, so I thought that the issue could be in how its configuration or interpret the connection from my computer, but nothing, I have discovered has indicated that this was the case, and convenience store customer support my ISP did not find anything abnormal. I was now more confused when I discovered that it also fails to connect to another computer using a direct wired connection, even though I had in the past linked their and transfer large files regularly. I would like to assume that these issues are linked, to make the simplest solution; but as one involves a separate network adapter, and the other connects directly to the motherboard, I don't think that's likely.

  • Limit Internet users

Hello, I wanted to ask if this is something that could be done through the application server or just the firewall. I have the server running the DHCP protocol for users in the office, that's why I wanted to know if I can maybe the server did not assign an IP address to a certain MAC address during certain periods of the day. With this same vein, I also reproduced the users of the network, I don't know where are these users and I wanted to see if the server will be reduced by giving the IP addresses of these machines.

Blocks internet access at the end of the connection, the client - or somewhere along the connecting track.   Blockage of the customer implies something like Parental control.    Blocking of access to the network via the connection path involves both the network firewall and a proxy server.

OS X Server is not usually configured in the path of the network connection, and there are no.app of UI for a proxy on OS X Server.

Server.app UI has not requested DHCP configurability.

It is much more easily possible to provide in a specific subnet addresses and blocks, although users can still manually assign addresses to circumvent this.

As customers - those who have the ability to manually set an IP address - can potentially work around this problem with a fixed address or with an automatic address assigned, it seems no obvious advantage to remember an IP address.

The normal path to locate the "rogue" hosts is to check the configuration of network via access points and (managed).   Some managed switches can also be configured with MAC or port security, which increases the difficulty with unreliable connections.

Internet access is limited only through firewall.

Some general information on the environment and the general problem that you are working towards here, and what is meant by 'duplicated along the network users' could get an idea or lead to other alternatives, too.

  • 400 error when issuing request through MDS on port 8081 or 8090

I am working to make development on a laptop and learned a few things:

1 MDS contact Blackberry service and cannot access Internet sites.  I initially wanted to issue queries against localhost: 8080 and found that when I did he failed because he was trying to proxy a request to the hosted Blackberry server.

    2. you must run HTTP requests in a separate thread, because it blocks the UI.

I am trying to issue requests on port 8081 and 8090.  I opened the access to my laptop for Internet development.  I can browse my website from my Blackberry Curve - so I know that the firewall is open.  However, when I try to debug using the Simulator, I get a 400 Bad request error.

    If I hit a website which contains a 404 or 500, I expect to get a 404 or 500, not a 400 error.

Here is the information of track of the Simulator.  Someone at - it ideas?

I believe that your comment that "can only access sites on the Internet" is incorrect.  In fact, one of the benefits of MDS is that it works behind a firewall and therefore can access intranet sites.  I think you'll find that localhost is not a URL supported for the MDS Simulator.  Take a look at this post for example:

    http://supportforums.BlackBerry.com/Rim/Board/message?board.ID=java_dev&message.ID=3013&query.ID=517...

However, I don't have one answer for your other questions sorry.  Looking at the log, it seems that the application is not yet that is transferred by the MDS, almost as if the MDS Simulator complained of a URL with a Port inside address.  There may be some MDS MDS Simulator fixation or required.  I suggest that you try to use your local IP address just to prove that there is no involvement of the network in the response and let us know.

Can you tell us the level of JDE and MDS Simulator you are using?

    Hello

One of the major concerns about security solutions is the way in which they interact. In particular, ISE is compatible with most of the body available today, as indicated by Cisco (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/vpndevc/ecosystem.html).

In my particular case, I want to integrate with ArcSight ISE.

For ArcSight properly analyze syslog messages that sends the ISE, you need to install/configure a smartconnector ISE.

However, what Miss me is how ArcSight tells ISE to take specific measures on users/devices that are involved in a network attack.

    Please visit: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/vpndevc/ps5712/ps11640/at_a_glance_c45-728401.pdf

SIEM/TD partners may utilize ISE as a conduit for taking mitigation actions within the Cisco network infrastructure. SIEM/TD platforms can instruct ISE to undertake quarantine or access-block actions on users and/or device based on ISE policies that have been defined for such actions.

    Thank you!

    T61, Win XP Pro,

Problems with the free space on HDD - disk(160GB) factory original is more than 90% full.

There are a lot of existing user settings and the user information on the HARD drive - of the specific settings for different network environments (home network, company network, VPN, etc.), specific applications, a lot of drivers for specific devices, many documents and photos and other information.

So, we need to upgrade the disk, but we do not want to go back to factory state - we want to keep all existing user settings and user information.

The existing drive was dismantled and connected to a standard desktop PC.

And using "Acronis True Image Home" the existing drive has been cloned again drive WD Scorpio Black 320 GB.

There is not any errors during the cloning process.

But when we set up the new drive of the laptop, the OS has not started - black screen with blinking cursor only flashing white dash (top left). So, we put back the old disk, in order to work.

After cloning, we see the new disk is similar, as it is on the old drive. There are two partition - hidden, system partition partition with Windows XP and all user folders and documents. Thus, we believe that the problem is only in part "start".

Everyone can us advice what is the problem.

Is it safe to rename the appropriate labels to my environment, such as a location for my data center object? • test backup Oracle

Our DBA team (I'm not an employee of the COMPUTER but I want an expert opinion on this) use a tool third 3rd to backup an oracle database--not RMAN. We examined the test procedures to see if a restore process is running. According to them, the only time where a test of restorations are when the system passes through an upgrade. I don't know enough about the backup/restore process but how regularly you should test a restore of the database, if a restoration works at any given time, why do you need to keep checking it at regular intervals? What happens to have changed between the last test restoration, which could mean that the backup is no longer effectively restores.

How many times do you do upgrades? Some places call request improvements to level and short do periodically, so that the type of tests of restoration would be good. An upgrade often includes changes to metadata, and those are the ones that can kill a too simple backup plan.

It makes a difference what type of backup, the 3rd third-party tool made. Many of us have seen some silent on things real dependencies as the SAN that are simply fails. Some of us have seen spectacular fails without correct recovery of trials.

If things are done right, there will be an official Service Level Agreement document that explains what types of problems are allowed and how should be fast recovery. Do not bother a lot of places, and can also be a recipe for failure. It should also be explanations on validation of backup.

Details of importance. If the Ribbon is involved, spoil tape drives, tapes go bad, adjusting just a reader can make old unreadable tapes. If the band is not involved, disks and networks have their own problems. Versions of the database may have specific problems with certain characteristics. You cannot deal with every possible thing that can go wrong, but you can plan address the most common issues, a disk controller blown general societal collapse or meteor bombardment throughout the world.

That is why DBA often said 'it depends', because it is. It is quite possible that something has been quite properly installing, then over time, the procedures are becoming insufficient.

No idea, really, but since it is a SIN, anything is possible. I guess that the in-house storage device can be misconfigured and doesn't generate its own synchronized time. This may not be a problem with applications that do their own calculations based on the settings of Windows, but it might be with applications that do not use that additional guarantees for file i/o files. • Please check the reality...

    Guys,

Just try to understand something better...

If I have a virtual machine under ESX and I want to run, for example, telnet into this virtual machine, this actually makes the connection through the firewall or a protocol of ESX or does it just go thru vSwitches established for virtual networks and this request gets 'wraped' in it? Another words, ESX even "sees" this application from telnet?

Thank you in advance for your help!

ESX does not "see" the traffic of virtual machine. VM traffic flows of the guest OS to the vNIC to a group of ports on a vSwitch, through the vSwitch, a teddy bear and then in the external network. The service console IS NOT involved in the network of the virtual machine. The vmkernel is responsible for managing the flow of data through the vSwitch, but what he sees is a bunch of pads - it does not inspect the pads (in fact, it is a separate process that runs virtual networks). There is no chance of "cross-contamination" the traffic between virtual machines or between virtual machines and console/vmkernel service functions.

    host2 contains the vmdk copy1

    host3 contains the vmdk copy2

    host4 contains the witness

If there is a partition of network between the 2 groups, (host1 sees just host2 and host3 sees just host4)

The first partition (host1 and host2) feed not off the virtual machine, because it is not a network isolation but HA in the second partition will restart the virtual machine (host3 and 4 contains 50% + 1 of the votes).

We have half a brain with 2 copies of the virtual machine running?

Hello, in your scenario.  host 1: the virtual machine running and 1 copy of the virtual machine, not for quorum and would be killed.  Hosts 3 and 4 have 1 copy of the virtual machine and the witness and the VM could be powered.  Thank you, Zach
