VSphere license key change

I have some hosts vSPhere 4 standard allowed in vCenter which had the key entered during installation. I now want to change the key licese for these servers to use new licenses more Enteprrise which are controlled by vCenter, but I can't seem to do. I tried to delete the keys, but it doesn't let me, if I try to assign new unassigned keys, they are grayed out in vCenter (they are very well apply to new hosts).

In this case, you have to combine your licenses on VMware

account site.  Once you combine them, you will get a new key to be used for

your host.

  • Can not get the eval of vsphere license key

    People,

Successfully, I registered for an assessment of vSphere with operations management and got my license key "VMware vCenter Operations Management Suite 5.7. When I try to apply this key to my vCenter Server I get the error "license error: 5" "Diagnostic message: not found license file ' (see image). I get this error even when you try to apply this key to my 5.1 ESXi server.

(Moderator note: capture with screen a.p. deleted license key!)

I KNOW the license key is not for vsphere, but rather for Operations Manager, but How can I get a trial for vSphere license key? Is it possible to apply the license key that I got to vCenter or should I install the vCenter operations Management unit and apply this license key for this server? The procedure to apply my evaluation license key is NOT FACT CLEAR in all the documentation I've found so far on the assessment of vSphere.

Could someone PLEASE provide a definitive statement on how to use my provided evaluation license key (see picture) and how to obtain and to correctly apply an evaluation of my vCenter Server license?

    vmware_vsphere_eval_license_2013-06-28.png

I would be very grateful for any help.

    Thank you.

Some products require a key for evaluation and others do not. vCenter Server and ESXi running in eval without key mode, but vCOPS requires a key.

You can use the license on any installation that you like, as long as ensure you that each license is used only once. What you need to do to be completely compatible with the EULA - if you want to use the license with your current configuration - is to install the production environment without adding licenses (i.e. run in eval mode), then migrates virtual machines, withdraw the licenses of pre-production systems and add them to the production system. It is not necessary to republish the keys or something like that, the keys remain the same.

  • 5 vsphere license keys will work on vCenter 4.1?

My attempts to record the vSphere license keys 5 on vCenter 4.1 failed with the message "License not found error 5 license file.

Anyone have any idea if this is due to the difference in versions (ie the vsphere licenses 5 on vcenter 4.1)? or is it perhaps something else?

No, the keys do not work.

You must connect to Vmware and manage your license, do a downgrade. (you can do an upgrade later)

You cannot use both licenses at the same time.

  • ESXi license key change

    Hello

I checked the forum and also did some google

    I found below

    https://damiankarlson.com/2010/09/06/vSphere-licensing-via-PowerCLI/

But it seems for esxi 4 x, may so that be with powercli x 6, we have a better way to do it?

I want to change the license key for the esxi servers in a cluster, any guide please?

    Thank you

And you have tested that it works with vSphere 6.x?

I suspect that the Get-LicenseDataManager might be a better choice.

What can I do? VMware host the client complains that I need to provide the license key.

    Thank you

    Juha

I would recommend you open a support case license with VMware (from the portal of my VMware) on behalf of your client and explain what you see now and how it is supposed to look like. Provide details regarding the purchase of renewals (no matter what email address on the order form of renewal might be important).

From my experience, licenses support is extremely helpful and I am sure that they will be able to get it straightened up in no time.

  • -= Decommissioning of a license key on ESXi host in order to import in vCenter Server Essentials 6 =-

Our company recently bought a license for VMware vCenter Server 6 Essentials for vSphere (VCS6-ESSL-C) with license keys for VMware vSphere Essentials 6 for 1 processor (ha6-ESSL-C).

I accumulated vCenter Server 6 on a physical device and assigned the new relevant license key, as well as installed Update Manager Server on this machine. This instance seems to be functional and functional.

Now, I'm trying to import 3 x ESXi hosts in this environment which have the license keys from an environment "vSphere advanced 5. These 3 hosts are administered under an instance of VM of vSphere vCentre, that I want to the Commission under this license and the license on these hosts is no longer valid after a takeover of the company.

    Question:

    (A) Comment can I get correctly to the setting of these hosts so that I can use the new vSphere license key 6 that I received?

    (B) should I upgrade these hosts to v6 ESXi befin environment to use this new license key?

    (C) do I need to disable features on the hosts in order to apply to apply this license key "6 of vSphere Essentials?

    (D) what is the correct order for doing all these things to use this new environment vCentre?

Thanks in advance for any assistance given.

    Concerning

    Grant

I havn't done it myself yet, but I think you should be able to achieve your goal, follow these steps:

-downgrade license keys CPU Essentials to v5 im Portal MyVMware

-the value of the new vCenter Server Evaluation Mode (actually maybe not necessary)

-Add the licenses of Essentials v5 license vCenter inventory 6

-Add hosts to the new vCenter Server ESXi 5.5 and assign licenses Essentials guests

-re - assign the license previously removed to vCenter Server

  • Change the 'label' on an active vSphere license?

    All,

I have a lot of "combined" vSphere licenses groups in vCenter 4.1, I would change the descriptive label on some of the or the vSphere currently loaded in vCenter licenses.

Cannot do through the UI, I have looked on the tables of database VPX_LIC_ * but don't see anything with the information on the label.  I could go through the center of the license and get the keys to the 'News', but I have to go through several cycles to combine/split to obtain the appropriate keys, too much work.

Anyone know where this information is stored?  I expect it to be in the same table as VPX_LIC_LICENSES (which is where the license keys are) but no dice.

    Ben

The label can be changed by going to the page of vSphere vSphere Client licenses, view by product, then developing the object to see its keys.

Since the key line, click on the label and press F2 to edit the entry (or you can double click on it).

I've edited all my labels to better describe what they manage (such as Group A, Group B, etc.).

I was able to do this since vCenter 4.0, tested on 4.1 and it still works fine.

  • Installation key main VSphere license via Script PowerCLI

    Hi all

With the help of the community, I have reconstitute a build for ESXi 3.5 script (basic free edition). This script works very well with ESXi 4 (VSphere) but I'm stuck on the section that completes the installation of the license key.

The orgional for ESXi 3.5 code segment was this:

    $ESXHost = get-VMHost

    $ESXHostView = $ESXHost | Get-View

    $ESXHostView

    $ServiceInstance = view-get-ServiceInstance Server $ESXConnect

    $LicManView = get-view-server $ESXConnect $LicManRef

    $LicServerSource = new-Object VMWARE. VIM LocalLicenseSource.

    $LicServerSource.LicenseKeys = '11111-AAAAA-BATH-CCCCC-DDDDD.

    $LicManView.SetLicenseEdition($ESXHostView.MoRef,"")

    $LicManView.ConfigureLicenseSource($ESXHostView.MoRef,$LicServerSource)

.. .but now the licensing system has changed, we need to do something else.  I checked the new v4.0 reference API and there told me where I can find the key, but I don't know enough to assign automatically.

    Hello

There is no exchange available for you product key

There is NO right to downgrade to Vista Home Premium or Basic

you will need to BUY XP from somewhere: computer store, eBay, etc.

    and read this:

Installation of XP instead of Vista:

Come on first, site of the manufacturer of your computer, check to see if your model computer has XP drivers available for it...

If the XP drivers are not available for your model, forget the idea.

If Yes, download and save to a CD or Flash drive.

Then buy a disc XP and license.

Save all your data because it will be lost during the installation of XP.

Then follow the steps below to do a clean install.

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/OperatingSystems/SS/instxpclean1.htm

Once installed, reload ALL your other programs of original media, or download again.

Reload all drivers and utilities for your motherboard.

  • get Vsphere 5.0 license key

    Hello

Is it possible to get a license for Vspehere 5.0. 6.0 license key does not work on 5.0. It is now down 60 days.

    Thank you

    Peter

    No problem Peter

Then connect to MyVMware, and then on the home page you should be able to select all downloads 'Quick links' to the right of the window that will be you to all products from the download page.

Of here beneath Datacenter & Cloud Infrastructure with VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) and click on see the components that will take you to the download VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) page that must have the Select Version to download: area just below the drop-down 6.0 default title.

Select 5.0 from this menu drop-down, and the product must move to VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.0.0 U3 which is the latest version 5.0.  Click on download.

You may now see the VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.5 Download Center, probably with a message saying that you are not registered for this product if yes click on Register under the button close the session in the Welcome to the right area and submit your details.

You then return to the 5.5 Download Center, if you scroll through the packages download section 5.5 will be expanded, continue and you will find all previous versions of 5.x by download.  The key listed in the license information section will work for one of these versions.

    Good luck!

  • Is it possible to change the license key?

I just started to use a Mac and I bought fusion Saturday. Then I noticed today that it is on sale. Then I called CS/TS/sales support and I was told that I could not get a refund of the difference in cost. I had to ask for a full refund and then purchase the product again. The CS agent if I do that to him provide the number of new order and that he would take care to send me a letter of destruction and issue a refund on the original purchase of the product.

I went and bought the software and provide to the agent of CS with the order number.

What I have to do now, is to change the Fusion license key, so I did not uninstall, as well as the virtual machine, I created (hours of work) and then reinstall using the new license key.

I sincerely hope there is a way to do this without having to uninstall and reinstall. If this isn't the case, then this is a feature that needs to be implemented.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi grunt,

You don't need to uninstall merge or your virtual machine if you 'change' license keys.

All you have to do is launch merger then in the menu bar click on VMware Fusion > license... and enter your new key licnese.

When finished, click OK and your copy of Fusion will be updated with your new key.

    Kind regards

  • ESXi 5 (vSphere 5) on Xserve: has no license key?

I managed to install ESXi 5 on my Xserve 3.1 machine.  I have 24G of RAM and 2 x 4 CPUs (8 cores).  I am able to get my hands on the management console using VMWare Fusion 4.0 on my Mac (just didn't buy - no problem)-all right, almost.  I'm about to covert some of my older VMware Server machines above.

I was under the impression that ESXi 5 was 'free' under a certain amount of memory.  Apparently, the key that I received as part of the download process does not include that or there is a problem of reports of setting up my computer for the software.  I enter the key in the License Manager, and I get a window that says "enter license key doesn't have sufficient capacity for this entity."

Google returns no hits on this phrase.  So I'm stuck with a hellish copy of ESXi 5, and in fact, I am uncertain even if I bought a copy of ESXi 5 it would work.  I won't go through the effort to convert all my machines, if it is a process of the impasse.

    Someone at - it suggestions?

PS: the process to get a 'key' for ESXi 5 is probably the most frustrating and circular process I've ever been through, maybe with the exception of trying to work with Microsoft online.

This license key can be deployed on any number of physical hosts, but is limited to the deployment on less than or equal to 1 of the physical servers. Click here to change

You have it deployed on multiple servers? Get this free count. I think that that would happen if you went above the CPU restrictions on v4 (I don't know how this will work in v5, however).

    Edit:

By clicking here to change does not work for me, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's some sort of bug with the new licenses.

  • Can I add the VSphere Essentials license key to the evaluation version of Vsphere?

    Hi all

We bought Vsphere essentials and waiting on licenses to get out.  New equipment has arrived and I'm eager to get started virtualize the current environment.

I can download the demo version of vsphere, start configuring etc THEN add the essentials license key when this happens?

The toggle features license key in ESX or is there different versions?

    Thanks in advance

Welcome to the Forums - Yes, you can start with the ESX evaluation mode which is equivalent to Enterprise Plus - so when you apply the essentials license, you will lose the features that you are not allowed to

  • 60 day trial of vSphere: more no license key?

I evaluated vCenter a year ago, and I could have sworn they gave a 60 days with her license key?

    is that correct?

  • to get to license key expired eval of vsphere 4.0 hypervisor (ESXi free)

I tried vmware website but am not having a bit of luck, maybe I'm just not up to looking in the right area or using the right terminology.

My problem, I have a hypervisor host free 4.0, it's in trial mode, so I could test some backup vmware software (which I've never had to). I'm adding a couple more VM but it wont let me because the trial has expired. I just want to register or obtain a license key for the free version with 2 CPU physical for this host, but I can't figure out how to do this. Is it still possible? I can't get a free license for 4.0? I use this host as a temporary of the VM unloading while we have upgraded hard drives in another host. I could just wipe and start over, but the host has a couple VMs on it that I cloned the wire using vmware converter from another host. I don't want to move their return because it is a process of + 3 hours for each of them.

    Suggestions?

You can register for a free http://www.vmware.com/go/get-free-esxi license key

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the key is also good for 4.0.
