ESXi license key change

Hello

I checked the forum and also did some google

I found below

https://damiankarlson.com/2010/09/06/vSphere-licensing-via-PowerCLI/

But it seems for esxi 4 x, may so that be with powercli x 6, we have a better way to do it?

I want to change the license key for the esxi servers in a cluster, any guide please?

Thank you

And you have tested that it works with vSphere 6.x?

I suspect that the Get-LicenseDataManager might be a better choice.

  • Where can I enter my ESXi license key?

I'm having a hard time finding where to put the license key that I got when I downloaded the product.  Sorry for this simple question.

    Thanks in advance!

Go to the Configuration tab in the VI Client, and click features licensed under the software section.  Then click on change and you should be able to enter the serial number.

  • VSphere license key change

I have some hosts vSPhere 4 standard allowed in vCenter which had the key entered during installation. I now want to change the key licese for these servers to use new licenses more Enteprrise which are controlled by vCenter, but I can't seem to do. I tried to delete the keys, but it doesn't let me, if I try to assign new unassigned keys, they are grayed out in vCenter (they are very well apply to new hosts).

In this case, you have to combine your licenses on VMware

account site.  Once you combine them, you will get a new key to be used for

    your host.

  • to get to license key expired eval of vsphere 4.0 hypervisor (ESXi free)

I tried vmware website but am not having a bit of luck, maybe I'm just not up to looking in the right area or using the right terminology.

My problem, I have a hypervisor host free 4.0, it's in trial mode, so I could test some backup vmware software (which I've never had to). I'm adding a couple more VM but it wont let me because the trial has expired. I just want to register or obtain a license key for the free version with 2 CPU physical for this host, but I can't figure out how to do this. Is it still possible? I can't get a free license for 4.0? I use this host as a temporary of the VM unloading while we have upgraded hard drives in another host. I could just wipe and start over, but the host has a couple VMs on it that I cloned the wire using vmware converter from another host. I don't want to move their return because it is a process of + 3 hours for each of them.

    Suggestions?

You can register for a free http://www.vmware.com/go/get-free-esxi license key

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the key is also good for 4.0.

  • License key for development in

    Hi all

IM in the process of creating a powershell script that will define the common settings for the quick recovery of ESXi hosts. One of the things I want to do is enter the ESXi license key and set it via a powershell script. I guess it's pretty simple, but I don't know what method to use as a noob to powershell. Can anyone recommend a way to do this?

    Dilpz

The following script will allow you to set the license key.

    $licMgr = Get-View LicenseManager
    $esx = Get-VMHost | Get-View

    $licKey = New-Object VMware.Vim.LocalLicenseSource
    $licKey.licenseKeys =
    $licMgr.ConfigureLicenseSource($esx.MoRef, $licKey)

If your ESXi server is managed by a CV, you will probably need to set on/off functions as well.

Let me know if you need this part of the script as well.

  • ESXi 5 (vSphere 5) on Xserve: has no license key?

I managed to install ESXi 5 on my Xserve 3.1 machine.  I have 24G of RAM and 2 x 4 CPUs (8 cores).  I am able to get my hands on the management console using VMWare Fusion 4.0 on my Mac (just didn't buy - no problem)-all right, almost.  I'm about to covert some of my older VMware Server machines above.

I was under the impression that ESXi 5 was 'free' under a certain amount of memory.  Apparently, the key that I received as part of the download process does not include that or there is a problem of reports of setting up my computer for the software.  I enter the key in the License Manager, and I get a window that says "enter license key doesn't have sufficient capacity for this entity."

Google returns no hits on this phrase.  So I'm stuck with a hellish copy of ESXi 5, and in fact, I am uncertain even if I bought a copy of ESXi 5 it would work.  I won't go through the effort to convert all my machines, if it is a process of the impasse.

    Someone at - it suggestions?

PS: the process to get a 'key' for ESXi 5 is probably the most frustrating and circular process I've ever been through, maybe with the exception of trying to work with Microsoft online.

This license key can be deployed on any number of physical hosts, but is limited to the deployment on less than or equal to 1 of the physical servers. Click here to change

You have it deployed on multiple servers? Get this free count. I think that that would happen if you went above the CPU restrictions on v4 (I don't know how this will work in v5, however).

    Edit:

By clicking here to change does not work for me, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's some sort of bug with the new licenses.

    Hello

There is no exchange available for you product key

There is NO right to downgrade to Vista Home Premium or Basic

you will need to BUY XP from somewhere: computer store, eBay, etc.

    and read this:

Installation of XP instead of Vista:

Come on first, site of the manufacturer of your computer, check to see if your model computer has XP drivers available for it...

If the XP drivers are not available for your model, forget the idea.

If Yes, download and save to a CD or Flash drive.

Then buy a disc XP and license.

Save all your data because it will be lost during the installation of XP.

Then follow the steps below to do a clean install.

Once installed, reload ALL your other programs of original media, or download again.

Our company recently bought a license for VMware vCenter Server 6 Essentials for vSphere (VCS6-ESSL-C) with license keys for VMware vSphere Essentials 6 for 1 processor (ha6-ESSL-C).

I accumulated vCenter Server 6 on a physical device and assigned the new relevant license key, as well as installed Update Manager Server on this machine. This instance seems to be functional and functional.

Thanks in advance for any assistance given.

    Concerning

I havn't done it myself yet, but I think you should be able to achieve your goal, follow these steps:

-downgrade license keys CPU Essentials to v5 im Portal MyVMware

-the value of the new vCenter Server Evaluation Mode (actually maybe not necessary)

-Add the licenses of Essentials v5 license vCenter inventory 6

-Add hosts to the new vCenter Server ESXi 5.5 and assign licenses Essentials guests

-re - assign the license previously removed to vCenter Server

  • Is it possible to change the license key?

I just started to use a Mac and I bought fusion Saturday. Then I noticed today that it is on sale. Then I called CS/TS/sales support and I was told that I could not get a refund of the difference in cost. I had to ask for a full refund and then purchase the product again. The CS agent if I do that to him provide the number of new order and that he would take care to send me a letter of destruction and issue a refund on the original purchase of the product.

I went and bought the software and provide to the agent of CS with the order number.

What I have to do now, is to change the Fusion license key, so I did not uninstall, as well as the virtual machine, I created (hours of work) and then reinstall using the new license key.

I sincerely hope there is a way to do this without having to uninstall and reinstall. If this isn't the case, then this is a feature that needs to be implemented.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi grunt,

You don't need to uninstall merge or your virtual machine if you 'change' license keys.

All you have to do is launch merger then in the menu bar click on VMware Fusion > license... and enter your new key licnese.

When finished, click OK and your copy of Fusion will be updated with your new key.

    Kind regards

  • Where to find the ESXi 5.0 license key (Free 5.0 hypervisor)?

    Hi people

Sorry, maybe someone already asked this but I couldn't find an exact answer to my question.

I currently have a FREE ESXi Server 4.1 with a FREE license key provided by VMWare, when I downloaded the product.

I want to update my system (have 8 GB of RAM, so no problem with rights of vRAM) 5.0 hypervisor (ESXi 5.0)

I downloaded the ISO and it displays a countdown of the 60 day trial in my VMWare account.

But I've never had a license key for the FREE hypervisor 5.0 5.0.

    So my questions:

    1. hypervisor is 5.0 still a FREE product?
    2. a necessary or this license key will work just after the 60 day trial with limited functions?

    3. If a license key is required even for the FREE version. Why don't the VMWare Portal not provide me with a new 5.0 key?

    Kind regards

    Oliver

After login, click on the license tab and download, scroll up to where it says option 2: download ESXi. the license key is immediately below here. More far to the bottom of the page are links to binary files.

  • Cannot add the license key after ESXi 4.0 set to level

    All the

AFTER an upgrade successful ESXi 3.5 to ESXi 4.0. I can't add my basic features free license key. Before the upgrade, that I was NOT in trial mode, I had already entered the license key for the basic version of esxi 3.5 several months ago, and things have been fine. Now, after the 4.0 update, I am in trial mode - only now, I'm unable to enter a license anywhere key. If I go into the tab Configuration & gt; Software & gt; A license of features, it is said: evaluation Mode and then if I click on edit - my options are: rename, delete and parameters of the customer, with the first two options are grayed out and cannot. I have the key ESXi 4.0 that I got when I downloaded 4.0 but just can't get anywhere to exit assessment!

    Any ideas?

  • ESXi licensing question

I have ESXi 5.0 upwards and running with a new installation, leva Vsphere client and go and I cannot figure out where to put my license key.  In 4.0, it is under the administration, but in 5.0, I just roles and newspapers, no license.  If someone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated

I feel like this is a stupid question and miss me just something, but for the life of me, I can't find where to put the license.  And, Yes, I searched on the community.

    1. Connection to the ESXi 5.0 directly using vSphere Client host.
    2. Click host ESXi 5.0 in the inventory, and then choose the Configuration tab.
    3. In the configuration tab click allowed under the software features.
    4. On the right side you will see change the hyperlink, click on it.
    5. Click on assign a new license key to the host, and then click the Enter key
    6. Enter the license key, and then click OK twice.
    7. Now you should see all the features of the product in your license.
  • Very quick question on the free ESXi license

Sorry this post as I have a related thread opened yet, but:

Free ESXi 4.1 vSphere license allows access to San fiber channel?

I ask because I am frustrated by is denied access to something that worked, and the only change I see is that I entered the license key last week. I spread the material, there must be setup somewhere.

Again, I am really sorry to post a new thread, but I need a quick answer, I need this system in place and running as soon as possible!

    See you soon,.

Yes - all access to storage etc will work always - it is only 'Advanced' features that are limited.

  • Possible to downgrade ESXi license?

If having already installed a certain license to an ESXi host, is it possible to change this license at a lower license type?

(I know that a lot of things could go wrong if at all by using the features that can be deleted with the lower license, but I wonder if it's possible).

If you try to apply the license key 'lower' with features enabled that are not covered by this license, you receive an error message, and the license will not apply. I saw a few times with the licenses of Essentials where someone tried to vMotion in Eval mode and the VMkernel ports had not been removed before applying the license key.

  • ESXi Licensing

I downloaded esxi with the license key and installed the server correctly. I also went to the VMware website and registered the product to my ID.

I always get these messages backwards when I start the esxi server say that the product is goig expires unless I sign up. I went to the site again and checked and it said that the key IS saved to my ID.

I have two pieces of identification with VMware. Could I have installed under the incorrect ID, causing this problem?

    Any other ideas?

    Thank you

Click on change it... Link on the upper right corner.  Then, assign a new license key to this host
