vSphere Profile-Driven Storage Service crashing

Any ideas?

vCenter runs on a box of Windows 2008 Std x 64 with 32 GB of memory and 4vCPUs. It is a virtual machine. We run vCenter version 5.5 1891313.

We have a problem where the VMware vSphere Profile-Driven Storage service hangs. Everything started after we rebooted the server vCenter two days ago. The only change we have made to the system installed the NetApp Storage Console plugin virtual on the vCenter server. I deleted since. The event log shows "VMware vSphere service oriented storage taken end with 1 special service error service profile (0 x 1).» Any attempt to vmotion a server causes the error "a general error has occurred: invalid response code: 503 service unavailable '. VMware suggestion is to run a fix for Windows 2008 (not R2), Windows6. 0-KB950319 - x 64. It is referenced in an article KB of VMware. This fix is not applicable, as is wrapped in a service pack already applied. If I try to run wrapper.exe use the wrapper.conf for service, the output is as follows:

Thank you. I could see this thread before I post my article. Finally, I supported on VMware to help me despite not being able to apply the patch. I was up to a high level engineer who determined that the Inventory Service database is corrupted and to rebuild. After completing this task, everything is now operational. I hope this helps anyone else who encounters this situation.

I solved the problem with VMware technical service.

I have 2 Wrapper files in "C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Profile-Driven" of storage. Wrapper and Wrapper1.

There is a problem because some files must be in both folders. To solve the problem and use a single Wrapper file as a clean install, just uninstall VMware Vcenter Server, delete the folder "C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Profile - Driven Storage" and reinstall. Change the connection of service "VMware vSphere based storage Service profile" to set the same service "VMware VirtualCenter Server. You must have initialized service and directory of a wrapper.

  • VUM 5.5 Service crashes when manually by selecting 'download patches and upgrades.

    Hey all,.

I have problems with a new installation of vCenter 5.5. This is on a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with 8 GB of RAM. I am running SQL2012 Express as a main server on the same server. It is a new installation of Windows Server 2012 Standard.

This is the 2nd time that I was able to reproduce this problem. I first thought I screwed something with the installation and so I reformatted the box and started again. Fresh installation of SSO 5.5, 5.5, 5.5 VUM vCenter. Downloading the initial patch was successful. Each attempt later patch gets to 50% in the vSphere client and service crashes. This causes the plugin to fail in the client vSphere as shown below. This also happens if I do some tasks in the update via the web client Manager. If I cancel the download and restart the service, it continues to run flawlessly. I can attach the baselines initially patches and custom data center planning / hosts and scan / patch without problem. I don't know where to begin the search on it and I know there are several log files. I have 2 other environments where I did 1 new installation and 1 upgrade and do not have this problem. I have the same software installed on the server in question that I made on the machine, I upgraded. I can assume there is a bug / driver / OS level issue going on here. Has anyone experience this problem? It seems that I have had problems with 5.5 to date. Any help would be appreciated.

    Capture.JPG

I found the answer after having waded through the difficult to read newspapers VUM. I got the SQL Native client 11.0 for the ODBC source instead of the 10.0. Here, the article describes the problem:

VMware KB: VMware vSphere Update Manager 5.x fails to start when you use SQL Server 2012

Dangers when using purely by default without knowing some of the small nuance hope this help anyone who may run into this problem with a fresh Server / vCenter install.

But I noticed that there is also a bug fix in the version of U1, so first try to update your vCenter to U1.

  • What is normal for the backup of XP SP3 and the startup type of the removable storage service?

I was getting ready to plan and attempt a clean full backup for tonight.  I have the backups created on several entities, currently backup but have a very stable system at the moment and wanted to try to make a clean backup file.  That day has finally arrived after been forced a corrupted system files hard drive failure "repair" critical and forced me to go back to SP1a (my Windows Genuine valid CD which I highly appreciate) in order to obtain any boot system, including safe mode and console mode.  Repair has presented many incompatibilities at the level of program and system, including the basic WMI and COM of the corruption system.  Three months later... it of time to update my backups and recovery procedures and hope that this does not happen!

In preparation, I decided to refresh my memory on the use of the backup and by browsing the Help and Support Service Center files.  One of the first things I noticed was "storage removable service must be started for the backup works correctly."  Audit and inspection of my existing Services using computer (Local) management, I have observed that after a normal windows startup, the removable storage service is not started with manual startup type.  I use a USB drive connected as my backup media, and it is fully operational as a normally formatted NTFS data disk volume.  I have windows indexing disabled on this volume.  Is the type of service required removable storage of normal manual started?  The backup program will automatically start this service?  I know I've never manually started it myself and backups seem to work well.  Should we change the startup type to automatic?

    -Thanks, Jerry

I would like to leave as a textbook.

The Service will start (if capable) as soon as ntbackup.exe begins.

If you want to see, with your Services window related to the function of RS place and it will not work and the manual.

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Ntbackup.exe

Click OK to start the backup and the Restore Wizard.

Go back to your Services window and press F5 to refresh and SR Service should now work.

When you exit the backup and the Restore Wizard, the RS Service stops (it may take a few minutes), and you may need to close the Services applet and reopen it to notice she's moved to manual and not running.

You will see things like present to the event system log viewer:

    Event type: Information
    Event source: Service Control Manager
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 7036
The removable storage service entered the running state.

(this is when you go out the backup and the Restore Wizard and wait a few minutes... then the Service stops itself...)

It's like aid and assistance...  Most of the people (including the technical support engineers who are hired by Microsoft) say to set the Startup Type to automatic, but you don't have to...  Set it to manual and it will start fine when he needs start (if he can).

There is no need for these Services (and many other Services in XP) as starting at each restart and run all day without doing anything.

  • After the last update (today), Firefox crashes constantly. How can I uninstall this last update? I tried to create new profiles and they also crash.

Firefox worked earlier today (August 19, 2013 6:30 pm EDT). When I opened Firefix after it IS 9, Firefox has attempted to perform an update. No error was given, but now Firefox does not start. Run a Windows 8 machine with all the updates and current security with no malware known on my system software.

When I try to start Firefox, the system shows the circle of"work", but then nothing. I created a new profile and got Firefox to start, but whenever I try to go to a website, Firefox crashes.

The last 2 reports of incidents of today:
    InstallTime20130814063812 (content: 1376962029)
    LastCrash (content: 1376969373)

Firefox IS working with Windows 8 in Mode safe (I got a message saying Firefox had not been closed properly) with a new profile. If I used an existing profile, Firefox would start and then close when I went to ANY website or any just not start. I shouldn't be no CRASH REPORT has been generated, just a code updated in the LASTCRASH file.

I have created a new profile, turned off all plugins, redonfigured my security suite of network to start automatically and restarted normally. When Windows came, I launched Firefox with the new profile, went to a few sites only to confirm it worked and then activated the security suite. No problems. I then reactivated some of my plug-ins. I had problems again when all the following plugins have been re-activated:

        -- Java Development Toolkit 7.0.250.16 10.25.2.16
        -- RealDownloader Plugin 16.0.2.32
        -- RealNetworks RealDownloader 1.3.2.28
        -- Shockwave for Director

With these off and the new profile, FIrefox is now working normally. Thank you!

  • UCS Central - model of political profile of Global Service with Local SAN Boot

    Hello

I created a profile Service Global UCS central template to create the ESX Service profile for servers 5 different area of UCS.

The majority of addresses is assigned in the world i.e. addresses MAC, UUID, etc with the exception of the WWPN where local teams of SAN want to pre-configure the zoning for a defined block of addresses WWPN.

I intend to use the ID range Qualification policy to assign a block of addresses WWPN to a specific area of UCS, but my main concern is around the creation of Boot SAN policy. As we intend to use the same model of Service Global profile for 5 different areas SAN Boot targets will have to be different.

Any way to locate startup SAN strategy so I can have only one UCS Global local SAN Boot targets?

    Thank you very much, Paul

    Hi Paul,.

What you're looking for, it's what we call a 'Boot target Alias', that should work much in the same way that VLAN alias work with UCS 1.1 Central.     Made senior level policy reference to the 'alias', but the actual link (some VLAN or target of Boot or...) will be specific field/DomainGroup and will not be resolved until the SP is associated with a session on a given field.     In the case of prime targets, this would allow for the same Global SP model to be used in several DomainGroups, while the actual target of Boot will vary according to the individual DomainGroup.

Unfortunately, this feature is not in UCS 1.1 Central.   We have it on the list of features 'high priority' to point 1.2.

The only 'solution' is to use several global models of the SP, whose name and attributes reflect the underlying objective of SAN-Boot - even if this creates models of N * M (N = # Gech/s;) M = bays of Boot # SAN).

Hope this helps to enlighten us.    See you soon,.
