Wag54g, wirelless covrage ADSL

Hello

Please pay attention to the image; It might the ADSL modem wireless + cover (e.g., WAG54G) AP, the wireless adapter.
If the answer is negative, then if both (wireless modem) & wireless adapter, close the window, how?
Once again, if the answer is negative, then can via detachable antenna of all devices that install it off window built?

As you already has a wireless router (WAG54G) router, you don't need a WAP54G access point, just you have to go to a range Expander WRE54G which you can connect to the 2nd building and it will load a wireless computer signal and you should be able to go online wireless.

• The WAG54G v1.2 firmware update

I have a WAG54G ver 1.2, 4 port eth + adsl wireless router. The last update of the firmware on the support download site is Ver.1.02.1 from 18/05/2004, which is ridiculous! (details here: http://linksysbycisco.com/EU/en/support/WAG54G/download)

It comes to the NVA, that I installed it on the router and the lt does not have same setting of WDS, so unit is more or less useless.

I checked the alternatives open source (wrt line), but they are all with WAG54G V2 and no support previous models v1 and v1.2

I need to somehow pass this router to something functional. I checked the page of GPL code as well and while ls there a WAG54g list, I think that itd for V3 routers. So the question is:

1 is usable on v1.2 source GPL code (I guess not)

2. suggestions for a WDS on the router (including beta / alpha firmware) is appreciated.

Even the GPL code will not help you because often, it does not include modem etc drivers who are not GPL depending on the brand and the pilot.

Another good reason not to get these combos of modem/router but get a simple simple modem with a router ethernet standard that you can use on any access technology...

I can't talk about beta firmware. At least as far as I know even more recent E4200 does not support WDS with all other brands as Linksys. And you can be sure that they will not add anything to the WAG54G. It's all just too old.

WDS has nothing to do with the routing. WDS extends the LAN inside the network local, there are only ethernet and MAC addresses. The routing is only between routers.

What is so complicated: it's complicated. You repeat traffic. Access points must include any traffic for repeat and which is not, which means that they must find the topology. WDS severely effects of bandwidth. WDS often only works with WEP (or static, anti-rotation key WPA). Do a little reading in the internet...

As it was not standardized how to handle questions from topologies you will often find that a Repeater works with a gateway of the same brand. A WDS would be possible with the same brand devices

Kind regards

It is only in a few cases, that the monitor from Linksys will conflict with the automatic Wireless Configuration...

Say for example if you are using Windows XP and you have installed the linksys monitor utility and you use the utility of Windows XP (wireless zero configuration) to connect to your wireless network you will be online, but when you will restart your PC Monitor Linksys may conflict with the windows utility and you will lose your Wi - Fi connection and you will need to re - connect to your network using WZC or Linksys monitor...

Therefore, it is best to use only the built-in Windows utility to connect to your wireless network to avoid conflicts of this kind...

• Connect WAG200G and WAG54GS to create the DMZ?

Hello

Hope this is the right place for this question.

I have a WAG200G and a WAG54GS. I would like to connect routers to another, each of them would be on a different subnet, creating a DMZ on 192.168.1. *. Or the other could serve as the "internet" router i.e.

INTERNET <-->ROUTER1 (192.168.1.1) <--LAN-->ROUTER2 (192.168.0.1)

| |

DMZSERVER (192.168.1.2) PC1 (192.168.0.2)

Is this possible? I can't find a "internet connection type" on each router that says 'just use ROUTER1 for your internet connection.

Thanks in advance

Laurent

You can replace one of the ADSL router with a normal linksys router as WRT54GS, WRT320N WRT54G2, WRT160N... And then you can the two router cascading and create two different subnet.

• WAG54GS-> settings E3000

Hi This is my first post here.
I would like you to ak you a few questions. I have the WAG54GS router with this settings

except that the LLC is not on VC. My problem is that E3000 support only PPPoE. This is not a problem because my provider also supports PPPoE. I don't know how to select LLC in my E3000. And secondly when I put PPPoE MTU 1492 - DHCP server username password disabled I connects. When I press the button on the status bar to connect it tells me that it cannot find any ip provider.

With my other router WAG54GS I'm ok with the entire network but with 3000 the autorun of the cd event guide not found internet connection even though it is the same cable used in the two router for internet.

My line is PSTN. When I call my provider for assistance they tell me the settings for all of the routers supported their company Linksys AG310
LinksysWAG200G
LinkSys WAG54G
I try to explain that when when I connect the internet cable does not find my 3000 and they say to me that's all is not possible. Can you please help me with the settings? Because I think that's not possible 3000 unable to connect to the internet.

Sorry for my bad English.

Here are the settings for my provider Forthnet

http://www.forthnet.gr/templates/supportPosting.aspx?c=10007410

I know that there are in Greek but find you a way, that there are a lot of photo

Thank you once again

The E3000 is an ethernet router. However, there is no built-in ADSL modem. You will need a DSL modem which you connect the E3000.

• Problems with WRT610N v2 + WAG54GS v1.0 of port forwarding

Background:

I have a WAG54GS v1.0 (Appendix A) that I use to manage my home network and my ADSL connection. I bought a WRT610N v2 (which I will refer to as the router) with the intention that he would replace the functions of networking of the WAG54GS (which I will call the modem), who could be relegated to handling just the Internet connection. Both are running their latest firmware.

I got this configuration to work, but with a problem: I lost a lot of flexibility with regard to port forwarding. The problem is the only way I managed to get the Internet to work with the 192.168.0.1 router and the modem to 192.168.1.1. If I try and that you have both 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x then connect to Internet no longer works under any configuration options, I've tried.

What wants to say that when I go to port forwarding of installation in the modem, I can only forward to clients on 192.168.1.x, but the router can only transmit to 192.168.0.x. The only things that I can go to work are situations where triggering serial port can be applied, so that when a connection is made to the relevant port to an external IP address, and then this external IP address to communicate on this port. As you can guess this covers almost all cases.

Question:

Would it not be possible to have the router and the modem on 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x, allowing port translation work as expected. Which should in principle be possible with the modem bridge mode except that it is impossible to configure the PPPoA settings needed to connect to my ISP.

Or I'll have to rethink the configuration of the network (i.e. buy a dedicated ADSL modem and remove entirely my WAG54GS?)

In fact in the end what I figured out was that according to my WRT610N concerned my WAG54GS is my ISP and that was all he needed to know on the Internet connection. So I had to connect to the WAG54GS with an IP address static, stuck that IP in the DMZ of the WAG54GS and left the WRT610N to manage port forwarding like all devices that connect will make it through that. (Yes, I've disabled features wireless of the WAG54GS)

I'm reasonably sure that I tried the combination of settings you suggested (including moving the WAG54GS off the Internet port on the WRT610N, which I wanted to avoid in any case as I have four devices permanently connected in any case) and found that it still does not. And I wasn't saying two to 192.168.1.1 set at any point, my darkened auto focus was that change only the last block of the IP address doesn't have to work for Internet access.

Hello

I think you're talking about the LAN port and connection to the local network.
I have no idea of what you want to do, but if you want to connect the laptop to the internet, then you must use a router/modem. The laptop must be connected to the router that is configured previously.

• ADSL USB modem installs on Equium P200-1ED

I have a P200 Toshiba's Equium-1ED; Model number # PSPB5E-003004KS.

I want to use my Thomson SpeedTouch 330 - a bus powered USB USB ADSL modem - for my Toshiba Equium P200-1ED and downloaded the 4.1 version of the Windows Vista driver from this web page:

http://www.Thomson-broadband.co.UK/codepages/Content3.asp?c=7&ProductID=471

... However when Vista modem driver is running, the software fails to recognize the Thomson SpeedTouch 330 ADSL modem when the guest driver software connect the modem.

The Thomson SpeedTouch 330 ADSL modem works perfectly when used with my old laptop Toshiba/XP (which is how I downloaded the Vista driver for the modem for satellite).

What's wrong?

-Disconnect all USB devices
-Remove all USB host controllers and hubs the Vista Device Manager
-restart the laptop

After the restart new Vista should recognize and install again the USB ports.
Then you could try to reconnect the USB ADSL Modem.

But have you followed exactly how describes on page installation instructions?

• Problems with ADSL modem Satellite A100 - isuser.dll might not be installed

I tried in vain to install two different modems for ADSL on a Satellite A100 (running Vista).
I started by uninstalling the drivers on the computer and then install the new 32-bit drivers from the manufacturers Web sites. (Tompson ST330 and Alcatel 330).

Installation always seems to be going well until the end of the process, when he said that he did not and suggested that I call my ISP.

It seems odd that two separate modems, made by different manufacturers do not reach a similar to the installation point.

I know that the usb cable, filter, cable, modem and line are all ok, as if I unplug the modem to my laptop and connect it to my desktop (XP), the desktop can connect to the Internet without any problems.

At this point, I got an error message that says "an installation support file that c:\...\_isuser.dll could not be installed - Access denied. "SpeedTouch PPP adapt."

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ken

> I did uninstall the drivers on the computer and then install the new 32-bit drivers from the manufacturers Web sites.

CA? It's really difficult to understand what exactly you were doing! Why did you deleted the drivers from the laptop and then installed all drivers from the manufacturers Web sites? And that the drivers have been removed?

The entire description confuses me? :|

However, in my opinion, is there something wrong with the system files. The simple and the best way to solve this problem is; Recover the laptop with the CD after the operating system configuration and recovery Toshiba around trying to install the ADSL modem as shown in the modem manual!

Install all 3 third-party applications or drivers after installing the CD recovery because of the bad influence!

• ADSL modem disconnects when I connect another USB device

I access internet through an ADSL USB modem. If I'm connected to the internet and plug an another USB device, such as the docking station for my PPC or printer, the internet connection drops and I get an error indicating that the modem or another connection device can be used by another application, or there is an error and it takes several minutes and usually a couple of "made up" to get internet.

Is this a problem with the management of USB or is this normal? All devices are plug n play and installed before this error. Usually, I connect the modem to the back and other equipment on the side.

Hello

It really looks like a USB power management issue.
I found this very similar topic:

Turning off power safe mode solves this problem.

• The local network settings for arbitrarily lose connectivity with ADSL modem

Hi all

I have a SAGEM 1500WG ADSL modem for internet connection and a laptop Satellite A100 (PSAA9). I noticed that arbitrarily, the ALARM led on the modem of DSL connection worked again (according to the lights on the modem) and the real problem was that I couldn't ping my modem. The problem was inside my local network. I can't be sure that what happened outside my LAN because I could not reach even the modem.

The only solution is to reset the modem. After 4-5 months of use, I have concluded that, whenever this was happening, I used Azureus to download a movie and this download was pretty slow (for example because my counterpart have fast connection). Also, I was connected with wire and NOT using the modem wireless. This means that: the problem never appeared when the wireless or Azureus works and download a significant amount of data.

I wonder if the LAN driver has any firewall installed on it. Or if she has any function that transforms the power driver LAN offshore when there are very few or no data go through it for a certain period of time.

Or East-Azureus has any odd décor that reminds you of something above?
The combination I think is problematic is "adapter LAN + Azureus work + very little data being downloaded. Maybe I'm a little confused. Anyone who has experienced the same problem or can come up with an idea will be extremely useful.
Thank you very much.
Lambros

Hello

Don t think that there is a problem with the LAN settings or the LAN driver on the device!
Your data transmission to low and transfer depends on your service provider Internet (ISP) and the server.
Your Azureus application does not for me, but in my easy it s a transfer of connection and the data of the software simply PEAR-pear file also depends on the number of users and the connected clients

• No satellite S2450 ADSL MODEM INSTALLATION PROB. NO FREE PCI SLOT

I have a Satellite S2450 - 101 with XP installed on it, the machine is currently in Spain and I am trying to install an ADSL USB modem. However when you are trying to install is always a problem in the installation program indicate that it not there no free PCI card slots available for the ADSL USB modem to use. I've tried a few things to get this software to install, but no joy, I have removed devices using Device Manager pci slots to see if this new modem would use their slots recently released, but this does not work, so I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem which can give the solution to this problem. installation is complete however when you try to use the modem to dial the adsl line it give an error of no available tone, it gives exactly the same respons if I unplug the modem, leaving me to believe that the system is not covering in any way with the modem during the dial-up procedure. As an aside to this XP did pick up and recognize this device and try to install it as a device ADSL-RE, but this is not the correctly the modem either... I tried using the supplied software and automatic installation XP. really need help on this one.

Hello

I heard nothing about such a problem, but it seems that your modem software does not work properly or your modem drivers are damaged!

Downloaded a software update and modem drivers USB from the maufacturer homepage?

You should also check if your USB 2.0 is working properly and test it with an evaluation of the performance program!

• ADSL Wireless with my A30 714

I have a Satellite A30 714 and have recently installed ADSL. How to use the Setup wireless on the laptop without having to plug into the ADSL?

Hello

If you want to connect your laptop to the internet using the Wi - Fi connection you need a wireless card on your device and a wireless router. I don't know, but as much as I know about satellite A30 there is no wireless card. The best solution is to use a PCMCIA wireless card. It's not expensive and it is very easy to configure.
