Want 7640: Ethernet connection problems

Just bought HP Envy 7640 on ebay and for some reason, it isn't to connect to the ethernet network. Wireless connectivity is fine but when I plug the ethernet cable I get no lights.

I tried to replace the power cord and switch is still no luck! Whenever I restart the printer I briefly see the port Ethernet LED on but that it goes off.

Tried restoring factory settings and restore the network settings, updated to the latest firmware, still no luck!

Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe that's why they resell it on eBay. If your really want Ethernet, return to the seller and try again.

Hi, a few months ago, I brought a HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC running windows 8.1. It is connected to my wifi with Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi - Fi adapter. My modem is a Technicolour TG582n 2 Wireless ADSL + with wireless 802.11 b/g/n compatible.

As soon as I got there I noticed a problem of internet where I would be able to connect to my home WiFi network and get full reception bars but would have a hard time to access Web sites on web browsers such as chrome, mozilla and internet explore pages takes some time to load and eventually reached a page "this webpage is not available" (for chrome). This problem seems to occur only with my home network as it can connect to public wifi and my wifi friends and yet I have many other devices such as laptops and other smartphones connected to my wifi that did not at all have poblems with internet and it just seems to be mine. When I connect via ethernet I get good connection for about 10 minutes and then I was completely cut off. However, I can upload a file via the wifi ok if I can get it to start and I can play a game online well enough but often disconnected after an hour or two.

I checked for new updates of pilot, but they seem to be up to date and im do not manually downloading and installing one on the hp site but I tried (I did probably wrong). I ran the diagnostic function, but it cannot detect all problems. I looked around the internet as well, but still havn't found a solution.

Also I got the laptop sent back and received a new but the same problem persisted and as I walked through the process of the person I was talking to a admitted that I had a problem like they remote limited from my laptop for a little for the access problem.

Please help, I've had this problem for a month or two now and is really becoming a problem since I use my laptop computer for purposes of requiring home internet work.

Thanks in advance and I hope you guys can help!

I understand that you have a problem with your connection Wireless at home. You are able to connect with full bars but are unable to access the web.   When you're lucky hours just access the Web, you can make a download if you get started in time or play games online for one or two before again declining. You ran the diagnostic function, but no problems were. You had the phone replaced for the same issue, but the replacement has the same question.

You know your network is an 802.11 G or 802.11n.   How do I know if my WiFi connects using 802.11n (as superuser)

    Please check this setting.

    1. Open the Device Manager
    2. Click the network adapters to expand the list
    3. Right click on the Ethernet connection, and choose Properties
    4. Click the power management tab
    5. "" Please check that ' allow the computer to turn off this device to save power "is not checked.
    6. Repeat this process for all types of listed under network adapters.

  • Ethernet connection problems

I just bought a Tablet from Lenovo TAB 2 10 - 30 and found that I can not get connected to the Internet because of problems with the power of the signal from my router. I have been using a PC for the year that I connect to the same router via an Ethernet cable, and it works very well, so I thought that I would just connect my Tablet Lenove in the same way. I have now bought a new cable (very long) Ethernet and mini-USB adapter, so it will connect on the Lenove tablet, I can get the * beep * thing to work. When I go into the settings, everything I see under "wireless network & ' is WLAN, but doen't seem to be an option to set up or recognize the Ethernet cable I connected on the tablet. Does anyone know how to get this tablet to connect to Internet with my Ethernet cable?

Another point: I'm sure the first time I ever took the Tablet out of his box and he started, I saw an option for WLAN network or LTE. I guess (maybe), I need LTE option to establish an Ethernet connection (although I could esily be wrong about that), only this option LTE has completely disappeared off the coast of the machine. Or if it's there, I don't know how to access.

    Thanks Dave

Yes, after some other investigation looks this tablet can not connect via Ethernet cable after all.

Fortunately I managed to pick up a singnal Wi - Fi, so I think I'll be able to connect to the web in this way after all.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Compaq Presario SR5113: Ethernet connection problems

I recently did a clean installation on an old PC and put XP on this machine, it did not find the driver for the ethernet connection and no matter where I'm looking, I can't get the Ethernet to work with that PC.  I get the error message about "the wizard cannot find your network hardware.  And that I must first install and configure your network cards... The network adapter is part of the motherboard.  All "network adapters" I check seem to be "working properly" according to messages.  Network adapters that are listed are:

    Miniport Wan (IP)

Wan (IP) - of Miniport Packet Scheduler miniport

    Miniport Wan WAN (L2TP)

    Miniport WAN (PPPOE)

    Miniport Wan WAN (PPTP)

I had to go show hidden devices to see these.  Don't know what to do and when I am looking for the drivers on the website of HP, the only rider that appears is the lightscribe update!  This isn't really the support for one of their older products.

    Clues?

We bought 2 cDAQ-9188 and I can't get them to connect to the computer via the Ethernet connection. I can make them work if I use a short cable (10 ft), but the location that I need them is about 180 feet away. When I do right click on network devices and select Find devices that it returns Nothing found. Is there any suggestions on what I might be wrong or what I should do to make them work? I'm running LabView 2010 SP1 and the drivers provided with the units of the cDAQ-9188.

Of course, the PC Ethernet card we use is low. I have them connected to a router and placed near the PC router, and now, they work very well.

Check applied in Windows or the BIOS power management settings.

Some systems can disable unused LAN port to save power.

Go to network and sharing Center > change adapter settings to check the status of the interface when it does not work.

Some laptop manufacturers provide their own network connection management tools, normally accessed via an icon in the system tray, find the settings there.

so, I posted on this forum before and did not have the problem fixed. but here again is the problem.

Before installing windows 7, I had vista and in order to get the entire internet, what I had to do is plug the ethernet cable. Now after installing windows 7 I plug the ethernet cable and still no Internet. Internet, I connect to is provided by my apartment complex. all that I was told to do just plug an ethernet cable as I did with Vista.

I downloaded a new driver from this link provided by someone on this forum and it did not help.

After I installed the driver and rebooted and it always connects to the internet vis ethernet cable.

I tried troubleshooting and he told me:

    Hello

    This file:

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp45501-46000/sp45671.exe

is driver for Intel wireless. He's never going to fix your problem.

I don't know then my solution will work, but we can try something like this:

At startup, press F8, and then choose Safe mode.

Go to the Control Panel-> device-> maps network manager

and find here Intel (r) PRO/100 VE Network Connection. Click with the right button of your mouse and choose uninstall the driver.

Try to install the XP driver for this model:

  • Ethernet connection problem

Normally, I have an ethernet cable connecting my Time Capsule to my iMac... I have a Netgear router connected to my Time Capsule, and the Capsule is in Bridge Mode.

Out of the blue, I get a "Ethernet has an auto assigned IP address and won't be able to connect to the internet" message on preferences network with the ethernet cable attached to my iMac.

I can not connect the ethernet cable, normally attached to the iMac, a MacBook Pro, and the connection is perfect (so the cable is good).

Also, if I connect to a Thunderbolt adapter ethernet cable and plug it on my iMac, the connection is ok.

I restarted the iMac and reset the cable a few times without success... Don't know if there is a file preferably I should delete (or which).  Did a permissions repair, without a change in behavior.

WiFi on the iMac works well...

    Thanks for any thoughts there...

    Bob

Update: the computer seems unable to configure IPv4 using DHCP.

When I configure IPv4 manually, I'm able to get the ethernet port working correctly...

    Thoughts?

  • HP Pavilion dv7/entertainment - Ethernet connection problem

The computer was always well connected to wireless networks, but I moved to a new place and can't get my computer to connect to the internet. I ordered a former gateway wireless via amazon but sent back because I thought that the antenna did not work. However, now I am trying to set up internet via an ethernet cable and cannot.

I tried two different cords ethernet without a bit of luck. Google research, I determined that there should be LED lights next to the port (?) Ethernet on the computer, but there is not all the lights on with a rope. I have tried countless attempts of troubleshooting and many "patches" of others, but nothing has worked. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the driver software of all the network/internet conncections via the HP Web site. I can't get the internet to work!

I am currently connected to the personal hotspot that produced my phone, but I can't sustain that without exceeding data limits cell.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi, thanks for your answer!
After all a lot of trouble, I have established that BOTH the router I purhased and the Ethernet cord I was good did not work properly! (The antenna on the router is malfunctioning and was working as the Ethernet cable when at a specific angle, which is why it seemed to work at first, but not after other attempts). I have since been able to get a new router and an Ethernet cord and am happily connected to Internet.

    Thanks again!

  • From a Wi - FI to Ethernet connection to a Wi - Fi connection - automatically...

    BACKGROUND:

    1. did you just replaced my cable modem

    2. have you implemented Airport utility again for my router (Airport Extreme 6gen c. 7.7.7) with its intact previous settings

    2. have made no changes to the configurations of system/network preferences

    QUESTION:

Now unable to move automatically from the WiFi to Ethernet and the WiFi - like I did before !

    More precisely...

If I'm wireless online and then connect LAN port of my router (gen6 Airport Extreme) to my MacBookPro (OSX 10.11.5) with ethernet cable - I stay online when I click on the different links.

However, when I unplug the ethernet cable - instead of automatically - return back to the Wi - Fi - I woke up completely offline.

And I am unable to re-establish a connection constantly computer completely - and then turning it back on.

In other words - I'm able to get the WiFi to Ethernet without problem - but don't back switch back to WiFi after having disconnected the ethernet cable

By clicking on the WiFi, WiFi off icon in the menu bar of the computer does not resolve the problem

On my computer, system preferences > network is configured as follows:

    Location: automatic

Left column has WiFi at the top, followed by Ethernet, Firewire, iPhoneUSB, Bluetooth PAN

    SOLUTION?

Bottom line - exactly should I be doing to move seamlessly from wireless to wired and wireless - without having to close and restart the computer then again?

The item up in the list will be internet primary when something is available.

So as you want Ethernet to resume when it is connected, it should be on top in the list.

However, I'm not sure why you see the problem you do.

  • No Ethernet connection after connection GS105 switch

    Hi all

I have a few questions on our new bought GS105 switch. It is said that this model is a switch so that I can plug in the cables and make them communicate. However, when I connect to my laptop to pass, it shows an Ethernet connection, but when I click on this link, I can not connect. Why does this happen? What is my problem laptop OS or hardware problem or the problem of the switch? Thank you for helping me

    My goal:

I want to connect my laptop to two USRP to communicate. However, the USRP can only support GB Ethernet and my laptop don't have 10/100 Ethernet. So that they communicate, we bought this GS105 switch and connected the USRP and portable to move (this method according to https://forums.ni.com/t5/USRP-Software-Radio/usrp-2920-can-t-connect-to-PC-WindosXP/td-p/1920379 ). If it connects successfully with each other, I can run the "uhd_find_devices" command in the Terminal and see information on the devices. However, I can't find any UHD device which means that there is a connection problem.

    The methods I've tried:

    • Connected the Ethernet cables and cables for power for several times - did not work
    • Check the lights on the switch - good times (lamps for cable USRP) and the left light on my laptop
    • Clicking on the "Wired connection" icon in my laptop, all the lights flash; However, after a while my phone showed "disconnected."
    • Tried another ASUS RT - N16 - worked

    System information:

    • OS: Ubuntu 16.04
    • : Computer laptop Ethernet Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101/2/6th PCI Express Fast/Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 07)
    • USRP Ethernet ports: Gb Ethernet

Problem solved because the USRP IP address is: 192.168.10.X. I can't install wired for DHCP automatic. Should I manually set the IP address and also try to avoid the collision of IP address.

  • HP Laserjet M452dn: M452dn Ethernet connected but do not print

    Win10 Pro x 64.

Printer connects / impressions via USB but not via a direct Ethernet connection or through router.  Connection to printer Ethernet is not but installation disc is located by HP print and Scan by IP addfress doctor. Doctor says software not installed then DLs and installs the software - but still does not print.  Uninstalled and did the all over again: ditto. If again, doctor without uninstalling it (still) says not installed software - although it said it was installed before I ran it again.

Router/printer Ethernet connection is good (fire port on) and the IP displayed on the printer screen, so I guess that the connection of the cable Ethernet/is OK. Network/print sharing enabled residential group. Utility of Windows/HP ID troubleshooting any problems.

    Something else I could try.

    Thank you

    Monk

Hello @Hmonk the printer has two ways to be connected but we really recommend use one at a time if you are going to perform a network first installation you want to make sure that you have an IP address from the printer connect the network cable to the printer room will get internet brand of course, on the port on the back of the printer when you have connected cable has a green and the orange light and then go to the menu reports on the printer and print a configuration report right on the 1st page under product settings, you will find IPV4 you must subsequently make the installation at this time where everything you want to make sure, is that the IP address of its different then 0.0.0.0 or 169.254.XXX.XXX since these combinations indicates that the printer its does not properly connect to the network

  • U940 PSU6VA satellite - wireless connectivity problems

    _ * My specifications: * _
    * Model: * Toshiba Ultrabook (Satellite PSU6VA - 00S 002 U940)
    * Operating system: * Windows 8.1 x 64 (upgrade of Windows 8 x 64)
    * Wireless adapter: * Intel Centrino Wireless - N 2200
    * Wireless adapter driver version: * 15.10.0.12 (which is the last for my device)

I got this Ultrabook since February 2013, and throughout this period, I always had problems with wireless connectivity, even after a factory reset. My wireless icon varies between three States:
    * Internet access
    * Limited (in which case I can't connect to the internet or any other device on the network)
    * Not connected - connections are available (and if I try to connect to the network, it will fail)

Sometimes my computer would instantly reach the State of "Internet access" at startup and remain in this State. Other times, it would be 'limited' for several minutes after the start of my computer before it finally connected, and even in this case, the connection will drop out every now and then. In the worst case, it would indefinitely remain "Limited" or "not connected", regardless of how many times I reset my adapter wireless or rebooted my computer.

Until very recently, I always thought that these problems have occurred randomly. However, I noticed recently that I have always a connection perfect, whenever there is no other computers connected wirelessly to my router, and I always have problems more or less when there is at least another computer (or even a smart phone) connected wireless to the router. If there is another computer connected to the router via an Ethernet cable, this causes no problems. It's only wireless connections that interfere with my computer.

It is only this computer that has these problems; the other computers in my house ever experience these issues, no matter how many computers is online. In addition, my computer is not only these problems with my home router; It has the same problems on the network wireless at my University.

My question is, how do I fix? Is this a known bug or is my defective wireless adapter? I know that I can connect using an Ethernet cable if possible (I have never problems with Ethernet connections), but this is not always possible at the University.

Did you remove the old driver Win 8 Intel of the system before you upgrade to version 8.1 to win?
The old Wlan Intel driver could affect the performance of a Wi - Fi connection.

The driver update page Win 8.1 says clearly that Intel Wlan driver must be uninstalled and the
Inbox Windows 8.1 version must be used.
