  Your laptop comes with Win8 so I guess that you have updated to version Win8.1.
  You have successfully updated following your machine Toshiba instructions?

  I bought the above P300 model and I have freezes when I try to stop the laptop (or sometimes when the system is restarted). Is a total freeze which means that nothing does, and I have to disconnect the AC (when no battery in) or hold the power over 4 seconds - button nothing to respond, nothing of blocking diode same caps is not responding when I press the caps lock - the laptop is totally frozen.

  To be fully descriptive, what is happening is: I stop my Vista SP2 down and everything goes well until, when the blue screen "Shutting down" disappears. Then the laptop turns off the screen and hard drive but the power button stays on and the internal fan comes into play as well. Then my cell phone is totally frozen as described above.
  From my experience, this happens every 1 to 3 or 4 times when shuttin down, so it's pretty frustrating and concerning. I have the latest BIOS installed V3.40 and also vista is freshly installed.

  To be honest, I knew this kind of flaw with my previous laptop from other manufacturers that I got for four years but he has been rather gel when actually using the laptop and not only on shutdown what was even more frustrating (almost always when I tried to play games so, indeed I have not played any games on it at all... for four years).

  Finally I deleted it from the msconfig Startup tab and it helped.

  In your case, another process/tool/software could cause this.
  Maybe you should play a little and test what could cause this problem, you can disable some processes using msconfig.
