Warning of macro when creating PDF

Windows 7, Word 2007, Acrobat X Pro.

Using Acrobat to convert a MS Word Doc to PDF, I get the message: "the macros in this project are disabled.  Please consult the online help or the documentation for the host application to determine how to enable macros.  I would like to find a way to stop this Message from VB that appear each time that convert us a MS Word file to PDF format.

I did a lot of research and I'm pretty sure that this problem is caused by the fact that Acrobat 10 called Microsoft Word during the conversion process. The right way, that this should have been done was to call MS Word using the security settings of the user (i.e. the Macros turned on in my case). However, I think Acrobat called MS Word with the option/m that disables security. That's why users see the pop-up message of Visual Basic (MS Word process).

I checked this to some extent by running the Acrobat "Combine files into a single PDF file" function and watched the Windows Task Manager. A version of the Winword.exe process is loaded. The Visual Basic Message box appears. The message box is the word, as shown in the taskbar as part of MS Word. After you click OK, the message box disappears and the Winword.exe process dies. Then, the file is converted to PDF.

MS Word provides a way to work around this message by changing the security settings for macros.  However, I have my MS Word Macro defined security settings on "enable all Macros", yet this message when the conversion of any Word file that contains a VB Macro (using Acrobat X to make the conversion).  This indicates to me that Acrobat is not through my MS Word settings using the /m option.

This should really be fixed by Adobe. They should start MS Word without the /m option or, more generally, allowing users (not Acrobat) set their parameters to macros in MS Word.  In my case, we use the macros to build our many MS Word files, but don't need macros in the final PDF file.  So I am very well with macros not having not in the final product, but cannot process the messages popup (of the hundreds of pop ups).

What is - this popup such a fight?

Since our team combines 80 to 120 in one Word files only book PDF, it is a big problem. The hope is that we could put all the word files in the Acrobat Combinator, start the conversion, and ignore 30 minutes because it converts and creates a single book. But now, users must sit there and continually press the 'OK' button until the process is done.  Waste of resources and time for my business and making the juggler Acrobat useless function.

Acrobat you added to the list of publishers in Word list? Here is some information from MicroSoft on the procedure to follow:

  • Dull colors, muted when creating PDF

As a signmaker I regularly create PDFs in my signs (FlexiSign) program to send to customers for approval. Sometimes it works perfectly, and at other times the colors come out totally deaf and dumb so that there is little resemblance to what the finished product will look like.

I tried a number of different things to fix this. Have even created eps files to open in Illustrator, and then create a pdf file but it always comes out differently.

I downloaded a trial version of PDF Converter Professional from Nuance Corporation to try it. The colors work perfectly every time with which program but I don't want to buy since I already own Adobe Acrobat Professional.

I imagine that there are some settings I should change to make things mesh, but I don't know where to start. Any thoughts?

    Operating system: Windows XP

    Acrobat version: 6.0 Professional

I am no expert in this area, but the file created with Acrobat uses Pantone (spot) colors and the other has specified using RGB colors, then they will be necessarily display differently in Acrobat. Assuming that you want to use spot colors, it should display very well.

I have a spreadsheet in Excel 2007 I have page breaks set as I want.  Although, when I create a PDF with Adobe Pro it changes the page break settings and removes a column to another page.  What can I do to prevent page breaks change when I create the pdf file?  Thanks in advance.

This is because the size of the page you are printing on is different from what you have in Excel.  Try to change the size of the page when you print, or to bring Adobe default PDF and see what Excel page breaks look like then.

Assuming that you are talking about Adobe Acrobat 7 Standard, it is far from being compatible with Windows 7, if problems are to be expected.

    Hi David,

Generally, it appears in the document properties window in Acrobat (as illustrated in the following snapshot).

However, if the sender/author has deleted the pdf metadata then there are chances that original file creation date is not displayed.

  • I have Acrobat 9.5 and when I try to create > pdf from a scanner, it shows an error "Adobe acrobat has stopped working". Is it possible that I can use this feature?

I have Acrobat 9.5 and when I try to create > pdf from a scanner, it shows an error "Adobe acrobat has stopped working". Is it possible that I can use this feature?

Providing you have Acrobat 9 installed in an operating system for which Acrobat 9 is compatible then you can use the feature.

So, you need a scanner connected, turned on, and the software installed. Acrobat 9 "prefer" TWAIN drivers.

Always visit the site of the provider of the Analyzer and download - install the latest version of the greatest software.

n.b., The Acrobat 9.x product family moved in the middle of the "End of Support" year 2013.

Thus, the family of products Acrobat 9.x is not compatible with contemporary operating systems.

  • When you create PDF from WORD 2010 files, can't do the TOC header as hyperlinks entries

When you create PDF from WORD 2010 files, I can't have the TOC header as hyperlinks entries. I'm used to be able to do this in WORD 2003. I tried to create a PDF file in Acrobat by selecting file > create PDF > navigate to the WORD file > select three check boxes >

Try to do this from Word by using the Ribbon.

  • Is it possible to keep the custom metatags when you create PDF from Word 2007 files?

Does anyone know a way to have custom metadata attached to a Word 2007 document to be completed in the course of an Adobe PDF file? The "Save as PDF or XPS ' in Word 2007 command clears all custom metatags that you have attached to the Word doc as PDF file has metadata cleaned up when you open it in Acrobat X.

However, in Word 2010, you can incorporate the MetaTags in the doc properties, create the PDF file using the Save as PDF, and the metatags are stored in the PDF file. So far, I have not found a way to do the same thing in Word 2007. (I know it is possible to add the metatags in Acrobat after the creation of the PDF file, but we are looking for a way to provide a Microsoft Word template that has the MetaTags already integrated, so colleagues by using Word 2007 can create PDFs that include our metadata.)

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Using check-in PDF or XPS does not use Adobe technology. You must use the Acrobat Ribbon to create PDFs using Acrobat technology (or print to Acrobat that does save all metadata).

    The hotfix installation is up-to-date.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I found an online reference to an ioerror + error pdfmark dealing with Document Structuring Conventions, thereby disabling DSC may be worth a try; in years past by DSC parameters have been a source of considerable pain of distillation.

I think you said that you have an Acrobat installation and not only the one that comes with FM (?), I use Acrobat 9, so I don't know if the menu items are going to be the same in your Distiller or not, but open Distiller, go to settings and then click on "Edit Adobe PDF settings."

Question: What are the settings joboptions are you using - high quality printable or...?

Then click on settings and look for the entry that is similar to 'Edit Adobe PDF settings' which should bring up a dialog box similar to the one below:

Click Advanced, and check if the DSC is turned

Assuming so, uncheck it. Then do OK and when the Save dialog box appears to save it under a new name (NoDSC.joboptions or otherwise).

Now, try to create the .ps and pdf, ensuring that the joboptions NoDSC are used when distill you.

  • Why don't iTunes12.4 see newly created pdf in iBooks?

I have to use iTunes12.4 to synchronize between iBooks on my iMac and iPad Air.

I don't want to rent per month storage in the icloud.

Why the iTunes12.4 can not see all the newly created pdfs stored in iBooks1.5?

iTunes can see old files pdf, pdf all simply not newly created old as one or two months ago.

Does anyone know how to trash iBooks Cache if it exists?

I know how to trash the plist file. This does not help, when I did it.

    Hello there, blackxacto.

Looks like you're eager to synchronization of PDF files on your iPad Air without using iCloud services. The following Knowledge Base article offers some great information on it:

Use iBooks with PDF documents on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

    Synchronize and save PDF files

The first time you open iBooks once you upgrade to iOS 9.3 or OS X 10.11.4, you will be prompted to use iCloud. Learn more about the timing of your books and PDFs using iCloud.

You can also add PDF files to your iTunes library on your computer by drag-and - drop the PDF file in your iTunes library. The files will be displayed when you prepare your device to synchronize. If you use OS X Mavericks or later, drag and drop your PDF documents into your library to iBooks using iBooks for Mac. All files PDF or iBook in your iBooks library are available to synchronize your device iOS through iTunes.

To synchronize a PDF from your computer to iBooks on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch:

    1. Select your iOS device. (Learn how to synchronize with iTunes.)
    2. Under settings, click on books.
    3. Select Sync books.
    4. If iTunes is set to sync only the selected books, make sure that there is to check the box next to the PDF file you want to synchronize.
    5. Click on synchronize.

You can also use iTunes to back up your PDF files. To transfer a PDF file on your computer and save them, transfer purchases from your device iOS to your computer. These files are not in an iTunes backup. Learn more about what is included in iTunes and iCloud backups.
