WARNING: Simulators fail to boot into VMWare Player 5.0

We recently discovered that our simulators PlayBook BlackBerry and BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha fail to boot into VMWare Player 5.0.  We are working a fix as we speak.  In the meantime, avoid this upgrade to continue to use these simulators.

3 SDK is available for devices BB10. SDK 2 is for the PlayBook. 3 SDK for the PlayBook will be available around February 2013.

    Hi LoganCallWeb,

You can try to reinstall the Adobe application manager. Go to the HD > library > application support > adobe > caps and rename the folder of caps. After you rename this folder, go to the USER library > application support > adobe > OOBE and rename the OOBE folder as well and install Adobe application manager at the bottom of the link. It should work fine.

  • Can I export data store files and import them into VMware Player?

    Hey guys,.

I was wondering if this outcome is possible?

I want to create a virtual machine (install the OS and software) and then export the virtual computer to use VMware Player or any viewer VM?

Currently, I have ESXi 3.5 and can create virtual machines. I'm not able to find a way to simply export the virtual machine. Is this possible? If this isn't the case, I was wondering if it was possible to export the files in the data store, and then copy them to the VMware Player?

The files in the data store (vmx, vmdk, nvram, vmxf, vmsd, vswp)

    Thank you!!!

You can use the free VMWare Converter Standalone (available here: http://www.vmware.com/download/converter/). Use your ESX as target and convert the virtual machine to a VMWare Workstation. I've never tried, but I think it will work.

I have an ASUS Z97 - A motherboard that I am trying to load a Windows XP PRO OS I have used successfully on several other computers. The software seems to load, but stop at "Windows Setup" and "the Setup is starting Windows" and freezes there.

ASUS claims that it is a Microsoft problem and that I should contact them. I'm still waiting for a response.

What you can try (see the user's guide) is to disable UEFI and use legacy / IDE mode.

  • Vmrun fails with VMware Player

    Hello

I am currently using VMware Player version 7.1.2 and VIX version 1.13

I want to start my VM using vmrun VIX, unfortunately when I type in the command line, the following command:

    departure of player vmrun t 'D:\myUser\VMWare\Windows7\Windows 7.vmx '.

It will give me something like this:

Unable to connect to the host.

Error: The specified version is not found

I'm doing something wrong or is this a bug?

For the mention I don't want to not buy or even to install VMware Workstation as I had a lot of trouble with it in the past (I had to do a system restore to get rid of) uninstall.

OK, managed to make it work, here's how:

    1) there is a vixwrapper config.txt file in the folder VMware\VMware VIX. Make a backup and overwrite the following on the content of the file:

    #@Version-Info
    #
    # VixAllProducts revision mapping for Workstation/Player
    #
    # This file translates product version specifications into the appropriate Vix
    # implementations.
    #
    # Each @Version-Info line has 5 white-space seperated entries:
    #
    # provider-type: ws, esx, viserver, etc
    # apiVersion: the apiVersion supported, as passed in from VixHost_Connect()
    # ipc-type: none, vmdb, vmodl, cim
    # product-version: the product version string
    #
    # implementation-directory: the path to the library that implements the
    # version described by the first 4 parameters
    #
    #
    # The configuration is based on the first 4 fields, which describe
    # the product. The 5th field is the location. To force it to try
    # multiple location, the same configuration can be repeated. Note that
    # list is built in LIFO order, so the latest entry in the configuration
    # will be the first used. If for some reason that value fails, it will
    # continue through any other matches.

    # Workstation 11.1.2 and Player 7.1.2
    ws 17 vmdb 11.1.2 Workstation-11.0.0-and-vSphere-6.0.0
    player 17 vmdb 7.1.2 Workstation-11.0.0-and-vSphere-6.0.0
    ws-shared 17 none 11.1.2 Workstation-11.0.0-and-vSphere-6.0.0

    # EOF

    (2) if there is a folder named "workstation - 11.0.0 - and-vSphere - 6.0.0" then move elsewhere as a backup

    (3) make a copy of the folder "Desktop - 10.0.0 - and-vSphere - 5.5.0" and name it:

    Workstation - 11.0.0 - and-vSphere - 6.0.0

    (4) do not forget to add the vmrun path to the variable user: PATH (the vmrun path should be something like this: "C:\Program Files (x 86) \VMware\VMware")

Now the vmrun commands should work.

The following command opens the virtual machine:

    departure of player vmrun t 'D:\myUser\VMWare\Windows7\Windows 7.vmx '.

    Hello mmccurdy,

Thank you for your message. But due to the fact that I use Ubuntu 15.04 in 32-bit version, it is not possible to install the bundle - x 64 drive.

After searching a few other items, I found the solution now (you can find the entire instructions under http://rglinuxtech.com/?p=1281

    First steps:

    cURL http://pastie.org/pastes/9934018/downloadhttp://pastie.org/pastes/9934018/download o /tmp/vmnet-3.19.patch

    CD/usr/lib/vmware/modules/source

    tar - xf vmnet.tar

    patch - p0-i /tmp/vmnet-3.19.patch

After changing driver.c and userif.c, it is necessary to change too NETIF. C in the vmnet-only folder as follows (see original under http://rglinuxtech.com/?p=1184)

    all about line 152:
    dev = alloc_netdev (sizeof * netIf, deviceName, VNetNetIfSetup);
    to do this:
    dev = alloc_netdev (sizeof * netIf, deviceName, NET_NAME_UNKNOWN, VNetNetIfSetup);

Complete the changes to the file are VMNET-ONLY. Now the final stages:

    MV vmnet.tar vmnet.tar.SAVED

    tar - cf vmnet.tar vmnet-only

    RM - r vmnet-only

    VMware-modconfig - console - install-all

    then VMwarePlayer works very well.

    Used with:

    Linux ubuntu 3.19.0 - 17-generic #17 - Ubuntu SMP Wed May 6 16:46:32 UTC 2015 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux

    VMware-Player 6.0.6-32-bit

  • Install ACS 5.3 on VMware Player?

I get an error when you install ACS on VMware Player (not VMware Workstation).  The error is "sda drive specified in the score command that does not exist."  I found this: https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/201443 which says to use the LSI instead of BusLogic adapter.  The problem is, I don't have this option when creating a new HARD drive or when I go into the advanced settings after you create the new HARD drive.

Is it possible to install ACS 5.3 in the free version, VMware Player?  Maybe there's some magic .vmx that someone found...

  • Need help with VMware Player to run!

I've been using VMware Player 7.1 successfully for some time, but my drive hard host started making noise, so I installed a new SSD drive as drive C on the host computer.  My old hard drive installation was 8.1 for Windows 64-bit, but needed to be cleaned, so I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 64 bit on my new SSD for the host.  My guest OS (8.1 64-bit Windows) has been installed on drive E, then I'm not touching this player.  I then installed VMware Player 7.1 and all is well.  However, when I now run VMware Player 7.1 and try to open my (8.1 Windows 64-bit) guest OS, he says now that the Intel VT - x is disabled.  I've never touched the BIOS at all, but to check I went into the BIOS and Intel Virtualization is always on because it has been.  My system is a motherboard ASUS Sabertooth with an i7 processor and 16 GB of ram.

So I rechecked everything in the BIOS and made sure the virtualization is enabled.  What else can I do to get VMware Player 7.1 running?  Help, please!

The log file created when I tried to run the guest operating system is attached.

    Thank you

    Abby

It is indeed strange that there is a difference with no changes to the BIOS. In any case, other messages in the forums, it seems like some antivirus/end point protection applications can cause these issues (see, for example, binary translation is incompatible with the long mode). You have already installed this application?

It might be interesting to see vmware.log from the virtual machine HARD disk.

  • Cannot install VMWare Player, workstation or anything like that

All appear to be the same way with a message like:

    VMWare.png

However I've checked that the file exists and that I can access. What is the problem?

I had VMWare Player 6.0.5 and could not install/update VMWare tools. So, I suspended my operating system prompted and rebooted VMPlayer. He told me that there is a new VMWare Workstation something 10.x and I wanted to upgrade to it. Okay, of course. Downloaded the update and tried to install. Said to uninstall VMWare Player 6.0.5. Being suspicious, I went and downloaded VMWPlayer 6.0.5 where he screwed up the installation of Workstation 10.0. Of course, he did. So I tried to install Player 6.0.5 so I could return to my suspended VM. In my opinion, what he said that I could not install because I haven't restarted. So I rebooted. Now, I can't install Player 6.0.5 or Workstation 10.0.0 or whatever it is. They all fail on the same way saying the cannot find a .msi file I can find and access.

    Help!

BTW, you guys have far too much product and names making it confusing. What should I use? Player? Workstation? Spear? vCenter, Fusion. The list goes on and. Do not try to give me the list of "well it's for this reason and this other thing". The point is there are too many products and it is too complicated. If you want to tell me what the structure of the product is just limit it to the product I should use. I have a Windows 7 box and you want to run Ubuntu in a VM desktop - that's all...

    Thank you.

    Hello

Please note that this is a forum for peer support and therefore, it is mainly users of VMware help other VMware users who make up the bulk of this forum. It is VMware employees responding in time in time, but in your case here (Note: VMware employees are recognizable because they have a small 'vm' next to their name logo)

With regard to your current number. If you install VMware Workstation, then you have also installed VMware Player next.

Even after the expiry of VMware Workstation, you can continue to use the free VMware Player.

    Hope this helps,

  • Debian Linux Bootloader and VMware Player and Windows 8.1

I installed VMware on laptop windows 8.1 and begins installation of Debian Linux.

Warnings about partitions and especially the bootloader potentially make my laptop not boot gave me cold feet so I bypassed the charger installation of.

At this point Windows system seems to be intact.

So here's my question. If I come back and install the boot loader, boot linux OS only when I press on play on VMware Player or it will make windows unbootable?

If the latter, how do I install the bootloader on a USB?

    Hi again, plc775!

Severe warnings are because the operating system has no idea that it is inside a virtual machine comfortably insulated from the rest of your host.  As long as you created the virtual machine in a pretty normal way (for example, by using the instructions in your other post) and did not have something really unusual (for example, through a physical disk from the host to the virtual machine), hard disk of the virtual machine is quite secluded and the guest is unable to make your host does not start and you can go ahead and install this Bootstrapper on the hard disk of the virtual machine.

(By the way, I noticed that you post in the forum VMware ESXi 5... I'll make both of your messages on the VMware Player forum, where they will receive a more appropriate audience.)

    See you soon,.

  • VMWare Player freezes my ubuntu all 14.04

I use VMWare player to run a Windows 7 comment system, and after a while, my whole system crashes, so I have to turn off my computer at hand.

It happens all the time, sometimes sooner or later.

The _usr_bin_signon - ui.1000.crash.zip you have attached shows that the signon-ui process failed when the function malloc detected that its data structures had been corrupted, and there is nothing in this process which makes use of any VMware components.  I'm not aware of any Player 6.0.4 defects that can cause corruption of the memory of this nature.

My first guess would be that you have a hardware problem.  Please run the system diagnostics to ensure that your memory and processors are reliable.  My usual day to this end is the free Memtest86 +, even if it's been a few years that I've tried...

    Thank you
