Webcam no longer works on my Satellite U405D-S2874

So yesterday I video chat with someone on my Toshiba laptop - model: Satellite U405D-S2874 - and then today I went on Skype and he wonâ? allow me to video chat! So I went to the camera assistant software and it says 'Webcam driver open failed. "Please restart camera or computer. I don't know what to do.

I looked up the stuff online and they all mentioned reinstall the driver but here? m not very good with technology so I don't know what it means and where to find it. But I also feel that this is not the problem!

    If the cam is not listed in the devices (imaging devices) Manager, this normally means that the hardware is defective. It is possible that there is problem with the cable of the cam. Try to bring back the screen and check if the cam will be recognized again.

    Have you already tried to reinstall the OS using recovery delivered DVDs? If possible please do it and your laptop will have factory settings again. After having done that, it should work again.

    Check the Device Manager.  Click Start and right-click computer.  -> Device Manager, click Properties.  Look under imaging devices.  Right-click the entry for your webcam and click on properties.  If it is disabled, you can activate it if there is no lack of material.  Also check to see if there is one? or! by the entrance.  If so, you need to download a new copy of the driver and reinstall.
