WebOS 1.0.4 update

The new update (1.0.4) is now downloading my pre, but I can't find any info about it on the Palm website.  Where can I find the new list of the patches/updates to date?

Here is the link again (also in the sticky I mentioned).  It does not seem to be updated to 1.0.4 (except for the graphics).

  • Update to 1.0.4

I can't update my pre to the latest version by pressing the icon of updates on the meadow.  Continue to be "unable to connect. try again later' from where I'm connected to the internet.  Please notify.  Lloyd

HERE IS HOW YOU SHOULD DO YOUR UPDATES:

Important Updates do not affect your data somehow.

Note Palm provides wireless phones webOS system updates. These updates are published periodically and are designed to increase stability, improve the user experience and in some cases to add features to the phone. Software updates cannot be downloaded on a 1xRTT connection because it could block incoming calls. You must be in a coverage area of the EVDO network or connect the device to a Wi - Fi network. System updates are intended to be installed automatically. So that to happen, the battery of your phone must have a 30% (or more) for free. We recommend that you charge your battery often this also improves the battery life. Never remove your battery for an update as this could permanently damage your phone. There are several steps for an update of the system, but almost all of them are performed automatically.

    Verification of system updates

Your webOS phone automatically checks the system in the background updates every 7 days. You can check the system updates at any time by opening the updates.
    Waiting for download

Once an update of the system is available, it downloads in the background in 2 days at a time when your phone is connected to a Wi - Fi network and it is not in flight mode. If you do not connect to a Wi - Fi network, the update will be downloaded in the background when you are in the coverage area of your wireless service provider's high-speed data. System updates are downloaded only when you are not using your data connection.
    Download

Your phone downloads all updates in a hidden directory that is not part of the user's storage. In rare circumstances, your phone may need to borrow the user storage space. If additional space is required to download the update, a notification appears and asks you to save some files in your phone and remove them the user storage. Once the update is installed, you can copy your files to the phone.
    Validation

In this step, webOS check that the update has been downloaded successfully.
    Pending installation

All system updates require your battery to charge at least 30% and do not install if you are on a phone call. System updates must be installed within 7 days of downloading. If 7 days have passed and you have not installed the update, the update installs automatically when your battery is charged more than 30% and that you are not on a phone call. Within 7 days, you can choose to postpone the installation when you are prompted to start. If you delay it, the following will occur:

    • The next three times the phone is charged, an alert with the 'Install later' and 'Install now' button appears. This alert is on a countdown of 10 minutes. If you have not typed "Install later" after 10 minutes, the installation begins. The 10 minute timer also starts if you plug in the phone and that you at least have a load of 30% battery.
    • The fourth time that the phone is charged, the alert displays only one button "install now". After a countdown of 10 minutes, the installation begins.

    Revalidation

In this step, webOS verifies that the update is completely downloaded and ready to install. If the download fails to validate, the phone will remove the update. The process returns to step 3.
    Install

While a system update is installed, you will not be able to use any part of your phone, and wireless services are disabled. A system update usually takes about 10 minutes. In the rare cases where an update would fail, your phone restarts and attempts to reinstall the update up to three times. If your phone still does not work to install the update, a message that contains information about what to do next is displayed on the screen for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, your phone will turn off. Never remove the battery during a system update, as this could permanently damage your phone.
    Reporting

Once the update of the system is installed, webOS sends anonymous information Palm on the update process. Palm uses this anonymous information to improve future updates.

  • Asphalt 5 accidents... Can not play.

If you had the game takes this survey.

    http://spreadsheets.Google.com/viewform?formkey=dDJEcjJpZWlZREp3cE9oQlJvb0NKWnc6MA

It was great to work to level 7.  Now I can't start a race without it crashing.

The video intro for the course starts and then the application closes.  Only race mode that works is a fast race.

Now he's almost November, and no patch has been released to make Asphalt 5 playable again. Verizon pushed the mandatory WebOS 1.4.5 update that killed Asphalt 5 in mid-August. How long is reasonable to wait before asking for my money?

EDITED TO add: I want to emphasize that the current problem with Asphalt 5 is completely different from the one described in OP. This thread maybe that last question should have its own thread, but this is a decision for the moderators, I guess.

ALSO EDITED AGAIN TO ADD: I just checked my updates again. I see that an update of Asphalt 5 is now available. Without doubt, its purpose is to solve the problem of crashing the app. If this seems to be resolved. Thanks to Palm/HP and Gameloft to correct the problem. Asphalt 5 is a great game - I did not play.

  • Can I set up my account WITHOUT an HP Touchpad?

It annoys me to be able to use my own device without an account at some corporation! What they think? I'll decide later if I want their services enough to follow everywhere! I'm feeling grumpy? Why yes, yes I am. I was super excited to get this Touchpad. This is by far the most beautiful and usable in Tablet out there. And the first thing I have come across this piece of obnoxiousness. Therefore, in any case, what should I do to start webOS, without any of this nonsense connection? Thanks for any help that you people can give me!

To specifically answer your question: there is no way around the HP account installation out of the box. If you don't mind a LOT of additional configuration on your PC, you can use what's called the Meta-doctor of webOS Internals (they are an open Group of developers working on the webOS outside official channels of HP), so you can work around this whole HP account setup and just use your TouchPad.

However, you will be missing some important features if you this:

    1. You will not be able to use the App Catalog. It's the service that allows you to buy and install 3rd party applications. Applications homebrew would continue to operate, but all the official stuff that looks at HP would be more accessible.
    2. You have no backups. webOS automatically backup your device each day. This servie only works if you have a HP webOS account.
    3. You will not receive updates to the device. The OTA update service is conditioned by the HP webOS account, so you will have to wait until HP releases webOS Doctor tool to update your device.

If you can live with these 3 things, then go ahead and head on webos - internals .org and find the page: doctor of Meta. IMHO, it is much easier to register on behalf of HP webOS.

    Hello

HP's plans when we release an update of webOS 2.2 for unlocked Pre 2 smartphones? SDK users have reported that 2.2.1 emulation included images of 320 x 480. I understand that the future of webOS can be unknown at the moment, but please support your existing customers and bring the features of 2.2 to pre 2/Veer owners.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

  • (Pixie palm) Try to update webOS 1.3.5.1 (unpacking...)

Miss me the CLOCK of my new Pixie of Palm app. Reading that I need to move to the 1.3.5.1 webOS.  I clicked on the 'Upgrade' and says it is downloading... sitting there forever.  I finally gave up and turned the phone off and on again.  Now when I go to 'Upgrade' it says "Unpacking" and never does anything more than that.

I'm doing something wrong?  I am in desperate need of the CLOCK (wake up) app.  Thought it was a mistake on this phone because I had it on my razor phone stupid before changing for this one.

OK, exceeded the update problem (guess you must have a full battery to get download and install it.)

But still no CLOCK app he shows in my list of applications software, but not as an icon on my Launcher.

Also, not that I'm 1.3.5.1, when I go to the app catalog, I get the large yellow triangle that says: "this action was not successful. Try again later. »... I have internet connectivity, so not sure what is the problem.

  • Web App WebOS 1.3.5 lost with the WebOS 1.3.5.1 update feature?

With WebOS 1.3.5 I was able to open the yahoo mobile site (configured for Opera Mini) without having loaded the Opera - which means that WebOS was all the right support call Java required for yahoo mobile site.  After the 1.3.5.1 update, this is no longer true, and the page opens by default text mode.  Now, this could be a coincidence and Yahoo could have updated their page simultaneously with the 1.3.5.1 updated and I see the result of that.

Has anyone else noticed a problem with Java on other sites?

Thanks for the reply.  I'll use it on the other problem.

Re: problem with Yahoo! mobile site - it must have been a problem with Yahoo!, the site works very well today and I didn't do anything.  There is therefore no problem with WebOS 1.3.5.1 and helped the Opera of Yahoo! mobile site - it works fine.

  • OTA update 2.1 on Pre 2 webOS does not.

I have a Pre 2 (webOS v2.0.1) p102ueu and I feel that there is an update to webOS v2.0.1 to 2.1 for this device. When I try to perform system updates, I get a message that my system is up to date, but that it was an error and I should try again. This has happened in the last three days. I tried to restart and it has no effect. Can someone please advise me what I do wrong?

    Hello!

Your device should see the 2.1 update, but as you experience this problem for days, you need to update via the option of webOS doctor.  Go to www.palm.com/ROM to run the doctor on your phone.  It will fix the problem and upgrade to 2.1 at the same time.  Do not forget to backup before you call for is like a partial erasure.

  • Impossible to update to the latest version of webOS POST HERE

So, I saw scattered CIHI and out there of people who say that they cannot upgrade to the latest version (1.0.4 to date) of webOS.  To try to put all the world the question all in the same place, I will start this thread and close all others I see on the subject (and try to direct the random messages on here too).

First of all, everyone should read great post of joek71 on the functioning of the update process.  Thanks, joek71!

Please be sure to include the following information in your message:

    1. You have access to wifi?
    2. Have you or bring your phone in an EVDO coverage area (as evidenced by the Ev icon)?
    3. Exact measurements you follow and all (if applicable) error you see.  Post screenshots (press Orange + SHIFT + P to create a screenshot in your Photos app) is always nice.
    4. If you're NOT on 1.0.4 which your webOS version are you on? (Application of device information indicates that, so far, it should show this: 'VERSION Palm webOS 1.0.4')

    Thank you!

If you still have problems updating to the latest webOS, I worked with one of our engineers and come up with a list of steps that should work.  You will find it displayed and pasted in this forum here:

I spent in and set the date to July 1, 2013.    The App Catalog, after reboot, finally came without a yellow triangle next to him.  So I type.  Shooting specifications of Hp App Catalog with bar 'report a problem' at the bottom.  Upper left corner has software Manager tab, tap and get the search bar, then I type in the App Catalog update, to the right of the table has a box with "palm" in an orange circle that says 'coming soon' and to halfway to the bottom of the screen there is an empty box black 1 "that looks like something is missing from the page and that is that I get.  I tried to download the Pack "Care" or anything else in the App Catalog and get "the action could not be completed try again later" with a retry button.  He will never appear to try to do something.

It's always a good idea to look at the first few positions in each section of a Forum.  There are often 'FAQ' and "sticky messages" s that answer the most frequently asked questions.

The second post we explained how HP ended their support for webOS devices:

  • Java blocks webos doctor

I have a HP touchpad wi - fi only.  I tried to install webos doctor my camera has been more grumpy and not to open some websites and mime files.  I had the doctor partially installed and Java blocked the completion by saying that the certificate was expired.  When I activated the box to take the risk, Java has always blocked installation by saying that it was dangerous to install the program.

How do I "Refresh" my Tablet? I'm sure you know, HP no longer supports the Tablet :-(   Thank you very much.

Hello and welcome to the HP support community!

Here's my answer "doctor a TouchPad" standard.  See if it helps at all.

How to doctor an HP TouchPad (reflash the ROM)

On your Touchpad, make sure you have:

USB cable. The battery is charged at least 30%.

    Computer:

Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista available USB (not a hub or a secondary port). Java 1.5 or later version is installed. If you are not sure what version of Java, you have, or even if Java is installed, go to www.java.com and click the Do I have Java? link to install the latest version of Java. 210MB of storage space. Connection to the Internet.

    Various information:

The update process will take about 15 minutes. During this process, your device will be unavailable for use.

    Download webOS Doctor

Download webOS Doctor on your desktop. If you have a profile of webOS, get it from http://ws.hpwebos.com/webosdoctor/sorry.htm

If not, check the webOS Internals page: http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Webos_Doctor_Versions

    Prepare your TouchPad update

Hold the Power button for a few seconds until a menu. Press on stop to turn your unit off completely.

    WebOS Doctor running

Double-click on the downloaded file to start webOS Doctor. Follow the directions on the screen until you are prompted to connect your device. Select the language that you have selected on your device and click Next. Confirm your choice of language. Click on accept to accept the terms of use. Click Next. webOS Doctor checks your system. BE PATIENT! I saw this part take a few minutes to complete. After webOS doctor ends your control system, you will be asked to connect your device.

Connect your device and the finishing of the webOS Doctor update

Connect your device to your computer via the USB cable. You must connect your device directly to your computer, not through a USB hub or other intermediate device. Now the tricky part. Hold the Volume Up button on the device and insert the USB cable. After the USB great symbol appears on the screen, release the Volume button upward. If you see the HP logo instead of the large USB symbol, can the Volume Up button is released prematurely. If this happens, wait for your device to start, stop your device and then repeat step 2. Windows identifies your component and may offer to install two different drivers. When asked to install the drivers of OMAP, choose no not at the moment. When asked to install the drivers for Palm Novacom (liner), select Yes, and then leave the drivers to install. This can take some time. Once the drivers have been installed, the next button will become available in webOS Doctor. Click Next. Do not disconnect your device from the computer during the update process. When the reset is complete screen, click done. Wait a few minutes for your device to reset. You're done!

  • New to HP webOS problem with MIME

HP webOS tablet, I buy a friend 12/02/14, he told me about the MIME and problems the problem of updates. I have problems reading emails and get email to load up, and make my updates to download I can surf the web no problem don't just need to go beyond these few problems... Someone help me.  RMcclendon

Hello and welcome to the HP support community!

Mime errors are usually due to attempt to download a file that is not a file of webOS, or you do not have a program installed that can read and process correctly.

An example would be to download a game that is meant for a Windows PC - one that has a .exe at the end of the file name.  WebOS isn't WindowsOS.

Have you tried the suggestion that we have at the beginning of this section?  ' App Catalog does not? "

  • Brand new Veer does not update the app Catalog or something else

    Hello

Got a new at & t Veer (it was already unlocked), after have logged you in my existing profile, the phone came, but the App Catalog, has not been able to update itself as well as other applications.  Some of the suggestions in the forum to change the date to July 1 and force the update via the App Catalog, but it did not.  Clear and reset the phone, still didn't work.

WEBosdoctor'ed the phone and it still has not installed the update (failed).

Call in the experts to see if there are any other technique not too complicated to solve the problem.  WebOS is 2.1.2.

I have seen one that required some hacking of level intermediate directories for reset the certificate, but a bit too risky for my basic skill level.

    Thank you!

After scouring the forums looking for similar problems, I put on one track
    what I was living for:

Thanks to the efforts of SideshowBob84, we have a solution to this problem.

Despite the solution published HP to change the system date to 1 July 2013 and
Download the update from the App catalog and install it, it still doesn't work.  It may have previously
worked, as others have pointed out, however, since September, it appears something has
changed and this solution is no longer valid.  Perhaps the server certificate has been
compromised regarding WebOS and not corrected since.  HP may not be up-to-date
    of the problem.

However clever mind in the WebOS community have a solution.

When an update or installation of the App Catalog is requested, that a ".ipk" is downloaded.
and then installed on your device, then the international prototype of the kilogram is deleted in your download folder.
Very clean and hygienic when it works correctly.  When it's not as here all the
evidence is erased, and we do not know what happened.

GMMan, created a process and a patch that comes in the installation process and
keeps ipk so that it can be installed by PreWare.  In this case, we want to download the
Update Catalog App, but when he moved, we use PreWare to the action.  Times
the update has been installed, you should be able to use the App Catalog without
incident.  The following link leads to the solution of GMMan:
Its a bit technical and a white knuckler couldn't for some.

I'm not a neophyte, but I don't know where near technical competence are the guru.
But I'll try and simplify the process in an easy to understand the document.  Before entering
started, here is an inventory of the software solutions you need:

Also when you download these solutions, remember to give what you can!
These people put out there for the benefit of all.

WebOSDoctor - this tool will reset your Veer to the conditions of the factory, he must get
messed up.  An indispensable tool for any owner of WebOS.

WebOSQuickInstall (WOSQI) - Gift of Jason Robitaille to the WebOS community for
install PreWare, Homebrew applications and patches on WebOS devices.
Absolutely essential and easy to use.

PreWare and Internalz Pro - Tools used for research of the ipk and patches loaded on
a device.  PreWare will apply the patches on your device.  No need to download
as WOSQI can find these ipk for you and install them.

NODELETEIPK. PATCH - this patch when applied to your device will be downloaded
the IPK is not deleted if they are properly installed.  Note: when this
patch is applied all downloaded ipk is kept, you should not use Internalz Pro
delete installed and no more need ipk.  A small price to pay to get your App
    Catalogue working again.
A link to download NODELETEIPK. PATCH is found in this thread:

Java 1.6 - minimum for WOSQI to work.
In your search engine, search for 'Java 1.6' or 'Java 1.6 jre"to download Java
    the Oracle company.

Your PC or laptop - WOSQI works on Windows, Linux and Mac.  I personally found
that it does not work on PowerPC Mac, it's that you can't get Java 1.6 for these computers.
And on PC Windows 8.1, I don't think that pilots Novacomd works on this version.

    -----------------------

    Now, the real work begins.

    1. install Java on your workstation.

    2. If your Veer is messed up, restore it back to factory using WebOSDoctor condition.  Good
    on screen instructions.

    3. launch your device and complete the activation and the Palm profile process.
The AppCatalog update will fail, but it's OK, we'll fix it later.
Once your device is running, put in Developer Mode.  To make this entry
the Konami code on the home screen.
Type the code as shown: "upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart". It's a bit geeky,
    but it works.
Alternatively, you can type in, "webos20090606".
You'll be put in the screen in developer mode, slide the switch to on to activate
    Developer mode.
You can disable it later once you have applied the update to the App catalog,
    using the same codes.

    4. start WebOSQuickInstall (webosquickinstall.jar).

    5. attach your device to your workstation.  Once the workstation is aware of your
device WOSQI will also recognize your device. You should see the name of
your device in a drop-down list in the WOSQI.  Your device will also ask you
If you want to connect with a USB device or charge your device.
    Select, load your device.

    6. There will be an icon on the right side of the WOSQI window that looks to the world
attached to a hose.  Click on this icon and it will open a new window with
several tabs.  Click the Applications tab if it is not already active.
Search for Preware and Internalz Pro.  Install these two ipks.
When these ipks are being installed, it might want to install other required
packages.  Allow installation of other packages.  Once completed,
Close the window and you will be current with the main window.

    7. now, look for an icon to sign more.  Click on it and it will open a finder window.
Locate the NODELETEIPK. PATCH file that you downloaded previously.
Let WOSQI install and apply the patch.  After that WOSQI applied the patch,
    the sheer can restarted.  YMMV.
Then, for the update, set the date of your system on July 1, 2013
via the application Date and hour.

    8. you are now finished with the steps in the workstation.  Remember to well to eject the
device before you disconnect it from the computer.

    9. When you look at the menu of your device, you should see PreWare and Internalz Pro.

    10. then open the App Catalog.  Search for 'App Catalog Update.  Install the
Update. It will probably fail, and it's OK.

    11. open Internalz Pro and navigate to the following folder location,.
/ Media/Internal/downloads.  You will probably see a called ipk,
    com Palm.app.appcatalogupdate_2.0.0.IPK.  Open the ipk.
When you open this ipk, it automatically calls Preware
to install the ipk.  When this is done, the App Catalog should be
fully functional.  A restart of the swing may be required.

    12. reset the date system is automatic.  You should now be able to download
    the App Catalog programs.

    13. Notes, with the patch in place, you need to occasionally clean the download
    folder for managing storage.

    14. you're now back to a functional State of WebOS!

    15. you can uninstall the NODELETEIPK. Your device to help PATCH
WOSQI, using tool/Device Management.  I had not done that, so if you are
    success, let us know!
