• webOS Doctor now I can't sign in Palm profile

  Hi all

  So, after running webOS 1.4.5 doctor I can not connect to my profile Palm and retrieve my info.

  Says "Sign in failed" due to "low network coverage", but it has a 3 G connection.

  I know that I have good credentials. I tried to restart it. I have reflashed with webOS doctor several times. I tried AT & T calling and they were, let's say, less than useful. I sent the Support HP and no response.

  Any ideas?

  Good news! It sets obtained. Here's how:

  My prepaid plan included no data as I thought that this was the case. Previously, I had thought that she would simply charge to my account (since that's what says my plan), but I actually had to buy a package of separate data to make it work. Apparently the same thing was done when my phone was initially setup as the Pixi is not really designed to respond to the plans of PP.

  I am unable to use the webOS Doctor right now because I tell me an error message "error: Sorry, this isn't a valid serial number" whenever I click on the button 'Get webOS Doctor' in my HPwebOS.com profile. I checked the serial number and it is correct. Anyone has any ideas about this problem?

• webOS Doctor 1.3.1 Bricked my pre

  I was trying to run webOS Doctor 1.3.1 to try and fix some desquamation saw my email with email sending (receiving e-mail was very good). My battery was 90 + % and I moved some of my pictures on my phone in case I lost them. I went through all the webOS doc invite you to the point where he says that it was under way, and then I went to sleep for a bit, because I knew it would be some time before it was done. I rose from my bed at a time given and noticed that there was a big! in a yellow triangle. He said that my phone has been disconnected. I tried to get the display lights by pressing the power button and nothing happened. I held the button to power down forever and still nothing.

  I was able to put my phone back on by removing the USB cable and just by holding down the power button. Weird.

  Hello!

  The WebOS doctor reinstall the current version of the webOS then:

  1. He will return EVERYTHING back to the factory

  2. It reinstalls the latest version of webOS in order to reapply updates is not necessary as long as until your recovering from Palm.com/ROM

  3 phone remains active so no reactivation is required.

  4. as a full or partial deletion, you need to resign to your Palm profile that brings back your data/apps/some settings.

  Due note it will scan the section USB drive too so don't forget that backup if possible.  Going to Palm.com/ROM for webOS doctor will give the latest version of webOS.

  No, the file is a java executable file.  Personally, I would take the risk for an hour to revive a dead device...

• Why is the latest Version of Java blocked as being obsolete?

  Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 with all the patches.

  Update Java at the current level and the opening of the web page to check it I got a message at the bottom of the web page saying that Java has been blocked because it was out of date.  Click the button to update and it takes me to the same page (https://java.com/en/download/windows_offline.jsp) I have download the installation package-Version 8 update 25.

  If I say that it runs, in any case, the web page check that I have the latest version of Java installed.

  What is going on?

  Not sure, but check in Control Panel - programs and features, or use this tool - https://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp to make sure that only the latest version of Java is installed.

  With Mac 8.0 Firefox using a certain extension (that I used for years), if I open a page that uses Java and then open another page in right afterwards, causing Firefox to crash. If I open another tab and close the Java running one, another page will load without any problems. It is a very recent thing. I don't think that was going on before the last update Java from Apple. The extension in question is kill Bright Horizons. It reduces the brightness of the background color of a page if it is too bright. Why would this happen?

  Firefox 8.0.1 seems to have solved the problem.

  I did a factory reset on my HP Touchpad to give to my son for Christmas. However, I boot the system then select English, then select the country from the United States and the system hangs its been doing this for a few days. I then shut down the system he turned back and did the same thing again and again. I go to my www.palm.com , and log and the WebOS doctor does not appear on my profile. Do anyone know how to install the software on the TouchPad, so I can get that operational back?

  These are .jar files.  Here are the executable java files.  Some browsers have been known to change the .zip extension by mistake.  Try using another browser to d/l the file.

  Go to www.java.com and let the Web site to check your installation to the latest version.

  Make sure that you have the latest java installation on your PC.

  Do you have the great symbol USB before continuing?  You will need the novacom drivers.

  If the process fails, rinse and repeat!  Restart all (you've tried long keys both power and depressed Center on the TP for > 15 seconds, right?), and then try again.

  Good luck, and be patient - I saw the doctor a break of 10-15 minutes before you continue...

  I have the problem that I want to use Secure_Auth that uses the Deployment Kit Java of nasty (via javascript) way that firefox does not see the deployment kit must be started. This is why I have not expected this plugin still for this web site. Since there is no available documentation how to do this configuration in a config file that I'm stuck at the moment.

  My touchpad resets everytime I try to open any application other than the calendar. Hard starting does not seem to help. The only other things I noticed is that every 5 seconds the double Home button flashes and there is a cerficate of google security not trust warning. Any suggestions?

  Have you tried running the webOS Doctor reflash the unit?  If this is not the case, here are the instructions:

Connection to the Internet.

  The update process will take about 15 minutes. During this process, your device will be unavailable for use.

BE PATIENT! I saw this part take a few minutes to complete. After webOS doctor ends your control system, you will be asked to connect your device.
  
  Connect your device and the finishing of the webOS Doctor update
  
  Connect your device to your computer via the USB cable. You must connect your device directly to your computer, not through a USB hub or other intermediate device. Now the tricky part. Hold the Volume Up button on the device and insert the USB cable. After the USB great symbol appears on the screen, release the Volume button upward. If you see the HP logo instead of the large USB symbol, can the Volume Up button is released prematurely. If this happens, wait for your device to start, stop your device and then repeat step 2. Windows identifies your component and may offer to install two different drivers. When asked to install the drivers of OMAP, choose no not at the moment. When asked to install the drivers for Palm Novacom (liner), select Yes, and then leave the drivers to install. This can take some time. Once the drivers have been installed, the next button will become available in webOS Doctor. Click Next. Do not disconnect your device from the computer during the update process. • webOS 1.2 and IMAP problem?

  On my Sprint pre, I have a Gmail account and a Fastmail email account set up on the meadow with 1.2.  Both are IMAP, with elements that are predisposed to reception on arrival.  All messages seem to be rushed to the device correctly.

  My problem is that the Fastmail account now shows "Not yet available" under the default folders, which means that I can not put a trash, sent messages or drafts folder as I used to have to work to the point 1.1.  The Gmail account is set up correctly for this, but I need for the Fastmail account as well.  I tried to delete the account and remake it (automatic and manual installation as well) and still the same issue.  The root folder IS set correctly.  He said that since Monday, so it is impossible that he just wants something either.

  I did a clean install of webOS 1.2 use webOS Doctor directly to it.  I have use the update on the device.

  

  Warning...  The information below is NOT for the user every day...  What I did and what I will describe, if done incorrectly can cause serious problems with your palm pre.  Some details on how I've accomplished some things are deliberately left out.  THIS ISN'T A HOW TO!

  The reason why I have described is in the hope that a developer will read this and it will help click on something in their minds, so that they can properly solve the problem.

  Basically, I got it on MY pre.

  As I suspected, I think there is a problem when you install at the start the email accts that was introduced with 1.2.  I check using an SDK 1.1, I could properly configure the default folders.  Using the SDK 1.2, I couldn't.

  Unfortunately, I know VERY little javascript.  (it was really my first time looking at code js.)  Own global code, so Kudos for programmers.  Could use for a few more comments, but good... not bad.

  In any case, I have determined that the part of the controller accountpreferences - assistant.js - specifically in the function renderAccountDetails (method?-as I said, I don't know js.) if statement on line 309:

  If (resp.drafts | resp.sent | resp.trash)

  was not working.  Apparently, resp.drafts, resp.sent and resp.trash are all false.

  What I did comment on the 'if' code portions so that he would go to what I thought, it must.  Basically, it looked like:

  Hide the "Not yet available" message and view folders
  This.Controller.get ('folders-not-available'). Hide();
  This.Controller.get ('folders-available'). Show();

  Envoy file for these areas. I use the same logic that is defined in the ImapAccountDefinition.java
  to see if it allows to change the sent folder.

  then I rebooted the phone.

  After that, I now have the ability to set default folders.  After manual adjustment of each default folder, I undid all the comments in the code above to return to its original code.  Then restarted again.

  Guess what... I STILL have the option of default folders!

  So once the default folders are defined, the code has no problems.  It is only when you have not setup any folder, but the code breaks.  This explains (as I thought) why my friends pre, which his email in 1.1, then upgraded to version 1.2 installation doesn't have this problem.

  But although there is workaround to me, I can't configure any accts e-mails unless I go through the above process again.  So I hope this helps coders to determine the real cause of the problem.

  And before anyone asks, NO I have NO will guide you step by step of what I did.  If you do not know enough about Linux, etc to understand what I've done the above, you should probably not do what I did. In any case, this is not the forum to describe.

  I want to understand to Palm that this problem is not entirely "resolved". It is, however, evidence that it is NOT a compatibility problem with some servers IMAP as suggests a post later.  (There may be a compatibility problem with * some * servers, but not as they think.)

• How to disable the Java version check

  I have a small pc based on Linux, Firefox running in kiosk mode. The pc is not connected to the Internet and only has access to a dedicated server under my control, serving a few Web pages and a java applet. Suddenly the system started complaining java my version of java is obsolete to spoil the kiosk display.

  -How to have firefox figure on the java version is outdated so the Slingshot pc end or the back-end server have Internet access
  -are there a way to disable security java verification in one of the firefox config files? Boots pc kiosk network, firefox profile is generated automatically, so I need a way to change this in the config files, not through the GUI that I won't be there every time the kiosk boots.

  I am running Firefox 13.0.1, I know it's old but security is not a problem because I only go to my own server and update the version of firefox on the PXE image is a pain.

  It turns out that the 9Oracle) Java installation has a built-in expiration date. He was so Java blocking himself, not firefox blocking Java.

  To disable the Java version check, start the Java ("jcontrol") Panel, tab "Security" the security level to 'low '. This will disable all the controls of the version and run Java.

  Needless to say that this should only be applied when executing in a completely controlled environment where you control the client and the server (as is the case in my setup).
