• Compaq 620 laptop: Update pre-2013 model HP Compaq to win. 10

  It seems that my Compaq laptop of pre-2013 model requires the upgraded drivers be compatible with Win 10. Anyone know what drivers are correct?

  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the problem you face is that Microsoft provides only pilots with the most basic features and what you really need for these features is the specialized drivers written for the specific in your HP PC hardware - and unfortunately, there is no driver HP Win10 for your PC. HP only guarantees the compatibility of Win10 for machines manufactured after August 2013. HP is not no matter what timetable indicating when, or IF, they will produce drivers for older machines.
  
  This means that your PC is probably NEVER going to be fully functional under Win10 because the pilots is needs for all features simply do not exist!

  So basically, you shouldn't spend your PC at Win10.

  Looks like you need to delete the files on your computer. Plesae check page #43 of the Manual:

  Delete the files from your phone
  Using USB drive mode to remove the files from your phone. You can remove a file that you have added to your phone, if you have copied it from a computer, downloaded from an e-mail message and so on.
  1. connect your phone to your computer via the USB cable. Windows: If the new hardware found messages appear on your computer, cancel.
  2 on your phone, press USB key.
  3 on your computer, open the drive representing your phone.
  4 use your computer controls to select and then delete the files.
  5 windows: when you are ready to disconnect, click the drive representing your phone and click on eject.
  Mac: From your desktop, drag the player representing your phone up to the trash. Trash turns into eject symbol.
  6. disconnect the USB cable from the computer when the USB screen is no longer displayed on your phone.

• Gmail sends on Palm Pre (webOS 1.2.1)

  I just got my pre this week and overall to the top of my Exchange and Gmail accounts on it. Exchange is the principal and I can send some fine over there, but I can't get my gmail to send. The settings that I have are:

  Server - smtp.gmail.com
  Use authentication = we
  user name-
  -password
  # Port - 465
  -SSL encryption

  This seems like it should be the correct parameters and correspond to what my wife has on his meadow. I asked last night if it is successfully sent a message from his phone, and she said she had. I didn't ask if it was before 1.2.1 or not (she had his phone any longer).

  Despite what look like the right settings, I get an error everytime I try to send an email. Most of the time it says that the password is wrong (I've all spruced up at least 4 times... and I'm able to get my email IMAP very well). I'm at a loss as to what could be my problem.

  PS. It is a Google Apps for your domain account, and not a standard gmail account. I used these SMTP settings in Thunderbird without any problem... I checked again today that I could send a message via Thunderbird using gmail SMTP setting and I was.

  I ended up deleting the mail account and there time with the same exact settings, I had entered about 5 times already. For some reason any, it seems that change an exsisting account does not work! What a pain in the butt!

• OTA update 2.1 on Pre 2 webOS does not.

  I have a Pre 2 (webOS v2.0.1) p102ueu and I feel that there is an update to webOS v2.0.1 to 2.1 for this device. When I try to perform system updates, I get a message that my system is up to date, but that it was an error and I should try again. This has happened in the last three days. I tried to restart and it has no effect. Can someone please advise me what I do wrong?

  Hello!

  Your device should see the 2.1 update, but as you experience this problem for days, you need to update via the option of webOS doctor.  Go to www.palm.com/ROM to run the doctor on your phone.  It will fix the problem and upgrade to 2.1 at the same time.  Do not forget to backup before you call for is like a partial erasure.

• Palm Pre constantly goes Offline webOS 1.3.5.1 called Sprint, cannot solve

  I use this phone since September 2009 and have not had this problem before. Last week when I updated for webOS 1.3.5.1, my phone constantly goes offline (top right corner it says "Phone off line"). It's very annoying because my calls back goes straight to voicemail and I can't text or surf the web when disconnected. I'm losing business from clients.

  At first, I thought maybe Sprint a signal outtage questions (due to cold front?), so I waited a few days and I'm still having the same problem.

  I called Sprint and they have tried to reset my connection and then asked me to stop and remove the battery for 3 seconds. I did it and I'm still going through the same problem. I called Sprint again and they told me to take my phone to the nearest Sprint Store to get a diagnosis. It is such a waste of time. Everybody runs into this same problem?

  If anything, I'll just buy another phone (never a Palm again)

  I've only had problems with this phone:

  -Memory leaks/major lag

  -When I try to close an application by dragging it to the top, he comes back down

  -When I only have 2 cards and try to open another, he said that too many cards open. I close all the cards and open just this one alone, and he says the same thing. I have to restart the phone, because everything works super slow

  -Memos 'mysteriously' disappear and then re-appear again

  webOS updates - screwing my (mafia game) Apps

  Unfortunately, you just need to start disabling the services until understand you that one hangs luna.  I began by killing the accounts of instant messaging, calendar, contacts and finally struck by e-mail when he stopped with the stupid phone offline behavior.  Pretty well, I knew it was e-mail, but wanted to exclude anything else causing her grief.  Pretty sad, the device cannot handle 500 emails in the affirmative, but I think that I have even more than that in my Inbox and it works.

  Such joy, pay for the device, markets service and crappy sprint as end users have to work around their bugs, redo our emails and others to adapt to their ideals of how things work on the interwebs just to make it work.  More disconcerting, it's Palm never bothered to acknowledge or respond to one of my posts on the debacle, sprint is clueless to do something with 4 back with probably 10 hours of support calls (typical cellco), and obviously it's not just me as the wheel that squeaks here...

  This behavior began in 1.0 and apparently is present through 1.3.5.x with many complaints on the way, so wtf is palm doing to fix this?

• Unable to download the update of applications...

  Hi, I have the palm pre Sprint and I noticed that some of the Apps I already own do not appear in App catalog as an update as they used, as a new download and if I click to select the application, I have only the "Tap to launch" option, not installation.  How can it be fixed so I can download the updates to my existing applications without having to remove the current version of the App and lose data?  Please help, thanks.

  To perform updates, run the update of the launcher application. Not only that research updates of webOS but also tells you if it is has updates for your applications and takes you to a page where you can download them. TO verify the version numbers of applications in the verses of catalogue those installed for you ensure that you have the update for that. In the app catalog, go to the page of a specific application, click on the top bar where is the name of the app and the manufacturer. This will show you information about the application, including the version number. In the Launcher if you hold down the orange key (option) and type an app that will show it as version number.

  I have found that sometimes apps that I will be displayed in the app catalog top makes me think that there is an update. But it does not exist and both have the same version numbers.

• Just got a new Pixi, updated to 1.3.5 update and now I can't download apps

  Hello!

  I just bought a Pixi yesterday and downloaded a few apps (Facebook, Flixster) and everything was OK.  I noticed Facebook saying that I had to update to WebOS, so I did.

  After the installation of WebOS, I can't download apps.  I followed the palm offers fixes and none of them helped.

  I rebooted my phone a few times (both by choosing reboot and turning off and on again), put in my credit card information and checked for if sure I have a spare bedroom (say 7 GB of free...) and I can't download apps.

  I tried the free and paid apps.  Download including Pandora, enjoy Sudoku, crossword, Accuweather and GoodFood... and none of them.

  I get no error message at all.  I click on the download button, it displays "Download" and then it switches back on a Download"" button.  He will ask me if I agree the application using location services, too... but nothing will download.

  I looked through the forums and couldn't find something relevant?  It seems most of downloads problems producing some sort of error.  Here, I get nothing.  And before the 1.3.5 update, I was able to download apps very well.

  Any ideas?

  Just came across other people having this problem with the pixi. Seems to be related to the pixi only. And it was the people who had no installed 3rd party settings. This solves the problem for all who have tried so far. Run webos doctor found at the link below. Follow the directions. You must back up all files stored on the USB of the Pixi drive. Music, you took pictures, files, etc. Also, be sure to run the backup application in the Launcher to a current backup before wipe everything with the webos doctor. I would like to know if it works for you.

• Failing application updates/can ' t issue install Applications may 15

  My Sprint Pre (WebOS 1.4.1.1) provided me with a lot of problems to taint a Saturday morning. Here is what happened; any help would be appreciated.

  -Update tool told me I had seven apps that had updates.

  -I tried to update the applications, and all of the updates failed.  I tried to redo some of them individually and then each failed.

  -I tried to stop and restart the phone, using the option "restart".  Once it rebooted I found that the same apps were still too problematic and that did not attempt to individually update.  Then, in the middle of all that, the phone told me I was no longer connected to my Palm profile and would need to restart.  I did what he told me.

  -The phone brewed for a long time and then introduced me to a blank screen 'Sky' with no options.  After awhile, I rebooted again.

  -The phone has taken me through the routine of activation, made me sign in my Palm profile, and then restored all the data and resynced to my external accounts.  After a long time, it seemed to be done.

  -Looking at the phone, I find now that * all * of my third party apps are listed as 'installation failed' and refuse to update or install when I try to do it individually.

  At this point I don't know what to do.  The data of the phone seems intact, but otherwise, the environment, I've spent the last year of implementation has been sprayed completely.

  I read in another ad to do a "partial deletion".  I guess that means selecting the option "erase data and applications.  I need to understand what that really is, it will do for the phone and the data on it.

  If anyone on the forum can help me with this I would appreciate it a lot.

  Edit: update title, want to keep all posts on this topic in this thread (and will be moving newly created here forward).  I'll also post in this thread when the problem has been resolved.

  The App Catalog now works correctly.

  If you have any application that failed to install during this period, for each of them:

  1. open the App Catalog, then press the basket icon.
  2. in the list, tap the application that failed to install (indicated by the yellow triangle)
  3. Since the app Info screen, click on the banner of 'installation failed' down
  4 - Press the "Try Again" button on the line of dialogue "could not install.

  It is possible that a file was not updated.  First of all, check that the kb update has been installed by going to View installed updates in Control Panel

  Go to start > all programs > Windows Update

  Check for updates if updates pre-installed reappear, right-click on it and select hide.

  as a quick fix and I had some urgent work to do I did a restore of the system at the time of update pre and connected to the network immediately. Thus, the network adapter DOES not work.   For anyone experiencing the same problem.

  After much digging internet I ran AVG diagnostic tool and despite not being is not able to do a full scan due to the lack of internet connectivity, it has done reports them a problem with the "Jumpstart Wireless filter.   After unchecking the box it's all systems go. I found that the software was connected to a netgear device, that I no longer use. Uninstalled the Netgear WNA1100 software and the jumpstart box disappeared too.

  so in short; Center network and sharing Center > change adapter settings > click right adapter >, select properties and uncheck jumpstart filter wireless.

  I use MDT update 1 on Windows Server 2012 2012.  I am Imaging computers using the Standard Client task sequence.

  Windows Update 'Pre' and 'Post installation of the application' measures are disabled in the Standard Client task sequence, but after that the application package installs complete, update Windows begins to apply the updates in the background.
  I also edited the unattend.xml file to set the ProtectYourPC variable to '3 '.
  How can I go about changing a setting in the task sequence that will set Windows Update never check the updates even after the image/task sequence ends?

  I can't find any application preferences on my pre.  I am trying to add a backup of Google account, and I can't find where to add it.

  Hello Legacy,

  The Palm OS 5 Prefs application is no longer available on Palm PRE webOS.  The different preferences are now their own applications (sounds and ringtones, screen & Lock, Wi - Fi, etc.) or preferences are accessible from within the app via the drop down menu in the top left of the application.

  If you are looking to add a new Google mail account, launch the Email your pre app, press the drop send, and then tap Preferences & accounts.  From there, you will be able to add a new Google account.  (Press the button Add a new account at the bottom of the page accounts of & pref.)
