Western Digital elements Desktop 1.5 WDBAAU0015HBK to external hard drive F:------is not accessible? !

Hello

Anyone know how to get your hdd to work again?
When I try to open the WD hard drive in, start - computer and then double-click the hard disk drive, I just that stand: F: \ is not accessible.

I built my desktop computer, on my own, win7 64-bit SP1 included, MSI MB, 128 GB Crucial M4 main hard drive.

* Have tried to reboot the computer, does not work.
* Plug the WD hdd in my laptop 64 bit Win7, do not work, same error.

In Disk Manager, I see that the drive works fine, and I see that it has the right amount of space, since the last time I used the hard drive.

Which means that I prefer not to format the drive hard until I moved all my important files on another hard drive.

But how can I contact with my Western Digital elements Desktop 1.5 WDBAAU0015HBK to external hard drive?

Best regards

Jocke

Hi Jessica,.

First things first: Let's try to save your files!

Method 1: (take a look at the method 2 first before you start method 1, it is perhaps more to your tastes).

Since you have to build your own PC I guess you are tech savvy enough to boot your PC in a Linux environment. I've seen many HARD drives that suddenly don't would not open in Windows more but normally open in an environment Linux like Ubuntu, Mint, DSL, etc. etc.

  • Enter a blank (empty) USB key.
  • Download Universal USB install.
  • Find a Linux distro to your tastes. Just take a look at Distrowatch or just go with my favorite version: Linux Mint and download the .iso image file.
  • Run the USB installation tool
  • Step 1 scroll down to Linux Mint 13 cinnamon (or the distribution chosen by you)
  • Step 2 Browse for the right .iso image file downloaded
  • In step 3, select the empty USB.
  • Start the process.

When finished restart your PC with the USB attached. During startup, select the menu boot options and choose to boot from USB. Now boot Linux Mint. No installation required! : D

When you arrived at the office, search your Western Digital HDD elements in 'computer '. Now hope and pray that it will open! If so: start copying all the files and folders immediately to another drive.

When everything is save go in Windows and format of the WD hard drive. With a little luck, it'll work again. You'd better check the SMART data to see if the drive status.

Method 2:

Since the drive appears in disk management, try to make an image using a program like DriveimageXML or what you want. Once finished, try to read the contents of the image. If you are able to do this, you have just saved your data. Now format the WD hard drive. With a little luck, it'll work again. You'd better check the SMART data to see if the drive status.

Good luck, Sebastian.

    Hi JackieFerrs

It is possible that the virus has every firmware corrupted on that either its MBR (Master Boot Record). Unfortunately, the other means that your data is probably lost. But... before you'll start to panic please see below what you can do.

Please visit this link: 'Western Digital My Book Home Edition 1TB_downloads' and...

    1. use the backup utility to backup your data if you have not done.

2 use the software update on hard drive firmware update.

    3. use the software (all) link to download software for your Windows PC.

    4. download and install Drive Manager (if you wish).

    5. If still no luck on the connection that enables the link diagnostic tool to scan your drive for some questions.

    I hope this helps.

    All the best.

  • BSOD when establishing an external drive of 3 TB Western Digital Elements on Win XP SP3

I have a Dell Latitude E6400 with Win XP SP3 and I just bought a 3 TB Western Digital Elements external drive. When I plug it into the USB port, it seems that the drivers are about to install as they would with any new material, but I get a BSOD immediately.

And what is 'exactly' the bugcheck BSOD error message?

Windows XP 32-bit only recognizes the MBR disks and MBR disks have a size limit of 2 TB because of the limitations of partition table.  Greater than 2 TB of disk uses a style of partition GUID partition table (GPT) and 32-bit XP Window does not support this style of partition.  You will need get a Western Digital driver to use this drive with Windows XP.

  • Western Digital Elements WDBAAU0010HBK external hard drive,

I want to use a Western Digital elements external hard drive WDBAAU0010HBK, but my laptop does not recognize it as a drive in windows Explorer. It gives notice that the hardware is installed and ready to use, but I'm not. In printers, and other devices, it displays an icon of the hard disk, but I only see the properties of the disc and not the files that are on it. I searched the internet for drivers for this drive, but WD elements has no pilot at all to its Web site, it says that the drivers must be installed automatically by Windows. I hope there's a sollution to this problem.

    Hello
    (1) have you made changes before the start of this issue?
    (2) you are trying to connect the external hard drive via the Hub?

  • Western Digital external hard drive to backup impossible after installing the MS Fix It program

I installed MS difficulty it program and since then, I had backup problems with my external hard drive WD (Western DigitaL).  I've used this for many months to back up my entire computer, using my Norton program, and now I get the message that there is a problem "with the back up.  He asks me to check if the device is connected, (it is of course!).  I also noticed that my external hard drive has been changed to 'F' to 'G' after I installeld Fix It.  That's fine, but WHY?  Is it considered a CORRECTION device?

WHAT'S PAST AND HOW I CAN GET THIS BACK TO NORMAL, SO I CAN EASILY BACK UP AGAIN? It's very frustrating.

Thanks for any help you can give.

  • Western Digital 1 TB My Book external hard drive on Vista 64 - Bit needs driver. Windows can't find it!

Here's the deal. I bought a Western Digital 1 TB my book about 2 months ago. I plugged on my DELL XPS laptop running Vista 32 bit with no problems and managed to save all my files. Everything worked very well. Although this computer is damaged and sent to DELL for repair. Make the long story short, a replacement computer was sent to me. Now, I have a DELL studio XPS under Vista 64 bit and now the external hard drive is not recognized.

I understand that Vista supposedly recognizes external drives and download the drivers when connected to the computer. Windows tries to find the driver but is unable to find and does not install. In Device Manager, the drive will appear as unknown device under other devices.

I searched for an answer to my problem and posted on yahoo as well, but nothing useful that worked were found at the moment. When I do an automatic search for the driver, windows cannot find the software and refers me to the manufacturer of the device. Western Digital returns me to Microsoft.

I tried all references to Western Digital troubleshooting, and as I said, this device works perfectly on the 32-bit system. I know that this has been a problem for many and would like to know if there is something I can do to get this device working once more. I don't want to reformat the drive, but if I do how can I if the Vista operating system can not find a driver?

Thank you. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I searched for the 64-bit operating system compatibility page and indicates the compatible reader.

This is the exact drive I own: My Book Essential Edition 2.0 WDH1U10000 - disk hard - 1 TB - Hi-Speed USB

The issue is clearly with WD, the 64-bit driver that they provide or the firmware for their unit

  • External hard drive Western Digital

I have a Western Digital external hard drive, WD CAviar WD1200BB... it worked great except every now and then Windows would not recognize it.  This is easily fixed by unplugging the USB cable, wait a few seconds and then it reconnect.  Recently, my computer got stop without going through the process to good close.  Since then, Windows does not recognize the hard drive.  I went into Device Manager and there was a warning attached hard disk.  I uninstalled the drive and then installed again, however, now Windows indicates that the drivers are corrupt and it is impossible to install.  Western Digital said they use common drivers normally installed in Windows and I'm contact Windows to solve the problem.  What should I do because there is no update that my computer is telling me that I can install?

Disconnect the hard drive and then go back into Device Manager. See if there's a warning flag in the list of universal Bus controllers. If so, remove the driver. Reboot and it re-charge the driver. Then reconnect the hard drive.

  • Western Digital external hard drive not recognized in Vista

This computer is Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit) with Service Pack 2.

I have connected an external Western Digital (My Book).  Sometimes the HD appears in devices such as WD My Book IEEE 1394 SBP @. Device Manager, and sometimes it isn't. ????

No matter, it NEVER so appears as a disc when I look in Windows Explorer. ???

    Help, please!

    Thank you.

You can get in trouble with your device drivers.  Go to Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get drivers (and you shouldbring at least for an external hard drive and all you have time to do - they can help way beyond simply solve this problem), let the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • IO error 0x8007045D with Western Digital External Hard Drive in Windows 7

I have a Western Digital 1 TB external hard drive, and I am currently running Windows 7.  When I try to move files on the hard drive I get the error 0x8007045D i/o and it won't let me move or copy the file.  What can I do to fix this?

Error 0x8007045d is "ERROR_IO_DEVICE" - "the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error."

Check the behavior in a clean boot, or insafe mode.  If it persists, you will have a problem with the external hard drive.

  • Windows 7 does not recognize my external hard drive Western Digital model WD2500B007-NNI. __

    Hello

Do you see any yellow\red exclamation in Device Manager?

I suggest to open disk management and check that if the drive is detected there, here are the steps:

    1. open computer management by clicking the Start button, click on the Control Panel, clicking system and security, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-click computer management. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. in the left pane, click Disk Management.

If the hard drive is recognized in disk management and if there is no letter assigned drive, I suggest you make a right click on the drive and assign a drive letter and check to see if it helps:

    1. click on the drive to change and then click on change drive letter and paths.
    2. do one of the following:
    ·         To assign a drive letter if it has not already received, click Add, click the letter you want to use, and then click OK.
    ·         To change a drive letter, click on edit, click on assign the following drive letter, click the letter you want to use and then click OK.
    ·         To remove a drive letter, click on remove and then click Yes to confirm that you want to remove.

  • How can I make the best use of a new external hard drive and a new catalog full of photos just loaded into Photoshop elements 14 Organizer?

How can I make the best use of a new external hard drive and a new catalog full of photos just loaded into Photoshop elements 14 Organizer?

Keep all the files on external hard drive image?  Nothing else and no pictures on the desktop?

Keep all image files both places?

What is the best way to go through thousands of images in the Organizer to identify and place them in files?

Once I've placed a file, I just leave it in the entire catalog or a way indicate to me that it has been sorted?

As overwhelming, any tips/shortcuts/schemes, you can offer are welcome!

As I only have the version of the EP, here is some info on the organiser:

    https://helpx.Adobe.com/Photoshop-elements/how-to/use-elements-Organizer.html

Independent of how this feature works, you want to have your photos in one place and have a backup (second copy) somewhere else. All hard drives will not be successful at some point - some more early, some late - never trust to have your files in any safety devices if they are on a single disc. Once you have your sorted, it would be useful that you will organize/name/tag new photos immediately if the task is relatively short and simple. I copy my photos on my internal hard drive for my camera, take a quick look with preview to see who needs some changes and then decide where to put them - either drop them immediately after naming them or bring in an editing application and then file them away.
