Go to computer stores, get an external hard drive of 1 TB capacity. Ask for one that you can just simply copy and paste to transfer files.

I have a. Digital WD Elements. 1 TB vapacity. It works very well. No action of fancy, complicated to transfer, just copy and paste or drag and drop files.

I also use it to make Sysytem Image backup.

  • Western Digital external 1.5 TB hard drive is not recognized on my computer!

I have Windows Vista and my external hard drive has stopped working. The last time that I used it I plugged it in my computer hp Pavilion laptop to transfer files. Then I hooked her laptop from my mother, who is a Sony Vaio which is running Windows 7 and has been the transfer of files when he got accidentily Cup while he was to transfer the files on the hard drive. I tried to connect the drive external hard back in but now when I plug it is recognized but does not appear in my computer. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the device. I deactivated and activated the device, but it still shows nothing in my computer screen. The light on the drive is on and the computer displays the option to delete security downstairs, but when I go into my computer, nothing shows up. I tried to put it on different machines, but it does the same thing he he reconizes but does not show the drive in my computer screen. Is my hard drive in ruins or is there a possible fix?

If you encounter the same problem with it on different machines, it seems to be a flaw in the hard drive itself.

I suggest that you contact Western Digital for this topic.

The word "support" has a connotation that is specific to HP - it usually means were that he tested with, sold with, etc.   I do not think that these discs were available when this system was built/designed, and thus the moniker "supported" official cannot be assured.

Everything that is said - I see not where there is a problem with this player.   I have a m9600t HP of a similar vintage - I swapped my Seagate 750 GB drive for a 7200 RPM Hitachi 2 TB drive and added an another 2 TB "Green" WD drive as a secondary drive.   No problems.

I have used Ghost of Norton to clone the old boot HDD on the Hitachi.  Made sure the D: drive Alias: "recovery partition" was kept the same size and then said Norton to use all the space of the new to develop on the c: drive.  Works very well.   The WD drive - I partitioned as a large drive E:.   Made sure to partition to NTFS.

Your mileage may vary - but I think it should work correctly...

  • Hard Drive upgrade - what is the best software to transfer information

I don't know how to transfer files and folders, no problem, but I want to upgrade my hard drive but don't want to lose my settings or programs.  I don't want to start over.  I had success in the past with some programs when switching from an old computer to a new, but it will not work on the upgrade.  Anyone know of a program that will allow me to put an external information, install the new hard drive and install XP, then copy the original information and programs.  The challenge for programs to work properly.

It's on an Inspiron 8600 running XP Pro.

  • Satellite 2410 won't see the new 250 GB hard drive

I am trying to upgrade the Toshiba 30 GB hard drive that came with the unit to a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 250 GB EIDE drive.
I get out the swap the 30 GB to 250 GB put in a bootable XP SP3 CD version and nothing - no sign that power came to training.
The CDROM is trying to write files on the hard disk, but nothing happens.

Same thing happens when I try to use the pack of 3 CD of Toshiba or the Norton Ghost recovery CD.
The computer does not see the drive. Put the old 30 GB drive and it starts right now.

My BIOS settings show set up for EIDE and boot from the CDROM. What I'm missing?

    Hello

It seems that the BIOS does not recognize the new HARD drive, I suppose that it s too big
Satellite 2410 series is old and I guess that it will not support larger 120 GB HARD drive because of the 28-bit LBA s

So try with the smallest HARD drive like 80 or 100 GB.

  • Re: Satellite A100-220 - 250 GB hard drive update

Bought the new 250 GB hard drive, but with it cant start System. The version of the BIOS is 1.80 I have to update so that it will support 250 GB? I think that's the problem because when I remove the hard drive from the system can start. Can you post the link to the download for a newer version of the BIOS if there is a previous hard drive was 40 GB?

    Thank you

    Hi andmk,

I doubt that your computer will start if you remove the HARD drive. If no HARD disk is installed the computer is not able to boot and start Windows because the disk HARD, the operating system is installed.

In any case, what exactly happens if you install the new HARD drive?
    Is it recognised in BIOS?
Can you do a recovery on the new HARD drive installation?

  • My Pavilion a255c 2003 will support a 250 GB hard drive addition?

I have a pavilion built in 2003 a255c.  Will be the controller on my MSI MS-6577 v 2.1 (Xenon 4) motherboard support an expansion of the capacity of the original 120 GB hard drive by adding a second hard drive of 250 GB?  I have the operating system Windows XP SP3 and BIOS Core Version v6.0, revision of BIOS 3.25 23/09/2003 (the last update available).  Is there any other compatibility issue that I need to check?

Also, the HPs site for specs on HP Pavilion a255c, maximum RAM capacity is indicated as 1 GB (2 x 512 MB).  But the HP Web site for specifications on the motherboard (Xenon 4) for Pavilion a255c, maximum capacity of RAM is listed as 2 GB.  Which is correct?  I have only two DIMMS on my motherboard.

1 100 means the speed of the ATA 100 hard drive. In the internal IDE hard drives, we have IDE ATA 66, 100, 133 to my knowledge.

    2. I recommend do not a 7200 RPM drive and it can not detect.

    3. no limitation by adding a second hard drive internal. External hard drive is not a problem at all. He will have power to USB or external power source according to the type of external hard drive.

  • How to make Toshiba USB 250 GB HARD drive read-only?

    Hello

I just plug a Toshiba USB 250g external hard drive to replace all the sticks of memory, I've been using.

I'll use this external hard drive to copy files to other computers and I would like to know how to make the drive read-only.

Moreover, all the other tips to protect the disc would be extremely welcome.

I use a Dell with Windows 7 laptop.

    Thank you very much

    Dougal

I don't know what HARD drive you have exactly, but I know that Toshiba offers a software protection with external hard drives.
Did you check manuals? Is something like that provided with your HARD drive?

Maybe you need to use some third party software part for the protection of files on the HARD drive. Google all over the place.

  • How to change Pavilion DV2000 hard drive? What brand/size of the hard disk works?

I have a Pavilion dv2000 I bought in 2006 (waaay out of warranty).

My current (original) hard drive is completely filled. It is 80 GB. Fujitsu SATA

I tried to upgrade the hard drive me. I bought a Western Digital SATA 250 GB hard drive is cloning kit.
The kit seemed to do what he was supposed to, but when it was time to put the new drive in, I ran into problems.

Do not match the connectors on the ends upwards. Metal "teeth - like ' connector end face on the new hard drive instead of to the bottom." (I couldn't find another way to navigate the hard drive cradle to get the connectors to face down so that they connect with the rest of the computer.

Predictable when I tried to boot up the laptop, it wouldn't read the new hard drive. So I put the old hard drive in and that's what I use now as I type.
The old hard drive did not fit into the cloning kit which makes me think that this hard drive configuration is obsolete and this laptop can not be upgraded at all, which sucks considering how much $$$ I've spent on this equiptment upgrade...

I can't find info on internal hard disk of purchases on the HP website. Anyone know what new hard drive will work in this old laptop?

    Thank you for helping!

I found the answer. It turns out that my computer is so old that about a year after I bought it, HP changed the configuration of HDD on their laptops all line of Pavilion in the future. The HD config in my laptop is now part of a line that was interrupted for more than 2 years. This old line goes only up to into space at 120 GB if you can find an old still sold online. Retailers do not sell them more.

And I can't use the clone HD product that I bought since my hard drive is obsolete and does not.

So I'm pretty much stuck with what I have now. It's not worth the hassle. I'm going to do with this for a year (with an external hard drive), and then get a new machine.

    Please help guys!

Computer model: p7-1058uk Hi, I'm trying to reinstall my windows recovery kit 7 I bought from best2serve my OCZ Vertex 60 GB ssd Series 3. But I get this error message "this computer's hard drive is smaller than the original supplied hard disk. The recovery process cannot continue"I actually managed to install this recovery on the same front drive kit when I bought first. Any ideas as to why its not working now? Hello:

I'm surprised that the same recovery disks set worked the first time.  Unfortunately, the error you are getting is the norm. I don't know any solution other than to get a bigger hard drive to the approximate size as the original.

I have a solution for you if you want to use...

If you can read the product key 25 character Windows 7 on the sticker COST Microsoft on your PC, you can download single files Windows 7 ISO to burn it to a DVD for the version of windows (Pro, home) that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the sticker COST Microsoft on the PC.

You must also select the language installation provided with your PC, or the product key will not work.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program.

Use the 25-character product key to activate the installation. It's good for the 32-bit or 64-bit version of W7.

Then go to the support page and drivers for your PC install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • Replace hard drive with any of the recovery discs...

I have a Dell inspiron I5 3521 with widows 8.0. My hard drive has failed recently, and I stupidly did not have any backups previously. I tried to make one when I realized my hard drive was damaged, but I think the hard drive froze in the middle to catch her on the back. So I ordered a new hard drive online half. The original was 500GBP. New is 250. Now under the protection of Dell and restoring it freezes at 11 percent any action I take is to say system reset/factory reset to factory condition. Out of options. Out of my mind. Help, please. Friendly firs DIY attempt, geek team wanted $ 300 of ish to do this. Even with the problems I have, I still think it's a feature.

How to get a CD restore partition?

    xxxChrispyxxx

Dell does not provide a "recovery partition CD", they send only DVDs reinstallation of the operating system that was installed at the factory.

If you are a resident of the United States and are the registered owner of the computer, a disk that contains the operating system specific to your system factory installed can be requested HERE.

Note: Dell will charge for the disc, if there is no warranty

If you do not live in the United States, contact the Dell Technical Support which is in your country.
