What can I check windows 7 on my Dell laptop?

I bought a Dell Inspiron 3542, I had windows 7 when I bought the laptop and it was corrupted and I installed Ubuntu for now.

I din't take the image or backup of windows 7 and also I did not have any disk when I bought the laptop.

I have windows 7 Home premium product key on the back of the laptop.

Is there a way to get windows 7 running on my laptop back?

First try Windows 7 recovery using "Recovery Partition" of the Manufacture or
contact PC manufacturing (see support links below) and order the recovery media.

Note: Activation is not required when you use the recovery partition or recovery media, but you will need to reinstall all your applications.

Also to save your documents on external support (if possible) before starting the recovery process.

Once completed, your PC will be actually in the State when you first purchased it and turned on for the 1st time.

To access the recovery Partition, start your computer, and then by pressing the appropriate function key. It can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12, DEL or tab key. Check the list below or your user manual for your brand and model.

Dell: Press F8 directly after switching on / to start the computer

Or: http://www.dell.com/

If you can not access the recovery Partition to restore the windows then contact Dell support and order "Recovery media", expected to cost about $35.00 maybe less.

Dell customers can now request a set of backup disks containing the operating system that is installed at the factory as well as the device drivers and utilities specific to your system.

  • How can I check if it is a new laptop?

    G ' Day,.

I recently bought a Satellite via eBay, which was advertised as "new". Since buying it, I had to pay for the repairs and as such has investigated the company, who have a history of portable computers purchase refurbished abroad and sell them as New.

Is there someone I can contact to Toshiba, which can take the serial number of the laptop and confirm to me that this is not a new model?

    Thank you

    Hello

What cell phone do you have bought exactly? Is what model?

I think that you shouldn't t contact Toshiba, please contact a service provider authorized in your country. They can repair the laptop and check the warranty status.
Here, you can search an ASP:

  • How can I reinstall Windows XP on my old laptop?

I had Windows XP Home Premium SP2, and I decided to wipe the HARD drive and install Linux Ubuntu 11.10...

He was fine, but the laptop seems to be "dissatisfied" Ubuntu on this subject (c. - d-.-it won't let me use the internal fidelity (Wi - Fi) wireless adapter to connect to our home network wireless, canning, freezing, etc.).  I know what the problem is, but the laptop does not accept the proprietary drivers that it so need...
My question to everyone who reads this post is:
How can I do to put Windows XP BACK ON w/o a floppy or a product key?  (Product key has been destroyed during the 5 years of intensive use)
    Specifications of the laptop are:
    COMPAQ PRESARIO V6000:
    CPU: AMD Turion 64 X 2 Mobile Technology TL-52 (Dual-Core) @ 1.60 GHz
    RAM: 2 GB
OS: Ubuntu 11.10 (I want to go back to Windows XP)
    Adapter Wi - Fi internal: Broadcom BCM4311 802. 11 b/g
320 HARD drive (Seagate, I think)
Please, if there is anything I can do to get back Windows XP Home Premium on my laptop without a boot disk or the product key, then I would be very happy!  Thanks in advance, everyone!

If the laptop has a recovery partition, you may be able to restore the computer as long as the plant, otherwise you're pretty much up the proverbial Creek without a paddle...

  • Where can I buy Windows 7 Pro to my laptop?

I bought a new laptop that told me before buying it would have Win 7 installed, but as you can probably it came with Win 10 installed instead.

I want Win 7, I don't want to win 10, if someone can tell me how to buy Windows 7 Pro in England.

I ask because the Windows store aparently dosen't know what Win 7.

    Help, please

Everyone selling product keys of Windows 7 without the DVD [s] is a crook *.  Microsoft never gave anyone permission to sell the product on their own keys.

Microsoft don't sell Windows 7 at all [they stopped several years ago].

A lot of people selling product keys of Windows 7 with DVD [s] is also crooks *.  That's why I explained above on the care that you need to exercise in choosing a provider.

    * These crooks often sell the product keys that work for a while after the installation.  Windows detects invalid product keys later then the scammer will then disappeared into the ether.

  • Can I put Windows 7 on a Dell Dimension 4600?

    Hello

I have a 6 years old Dell Dimension 4600 PC with the following specifications:

    • Processor Pentium 4 3.0Ghz
    • 1 GB OF RAM
    • nVidia Geforce FX5200 128 MB graphics card
    • Windows XP Home Edition
I expect to make a custom on this old PC Setup, but my problems are with the drivers.
I recently used the special Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, which tells me that I meet all of the minimum requirements, and of course programs such as Outlook Express will not available on Windows 7.
In the middle of this report is a link to the Dell (Windows 7 section) website where they tell me to go learn more about compatibility. When I do click on this site and then click on hardware compatibility, it brings me to the next page: http://support.euro.dell.com/support/topics/topic.aspx/emea/shared/support/dsn/en/document?c=uk&docid=360683&l=en&s=gen
The page says there is apparently only ONE socket support Dell Dimension model which can be improved on the range Dimension, covering a good 30-50 models. I'm sure that this is due to support driver from Dell, which is absolutely horrendous. The drivers on the site range Dell Web from 2004 to 2007 (for the only critical updates), for my model. The only OS supported on the site it is XP. Research on the Web sites of manufacturers of drivers, I find that the newer drivers are available for my hardware, more compatible with Vista. Do I have the old OEM from Dell specific drivers or the drivers provided by manufacturers! Can I REALLY move to Windows 7! Dell said it is not supported (and is fast enough to give me a link telling me to buy a new PC), but I have friends who have installed on other Dimensions of Dell old where it worked a treat. I don't want to lose £70 on a BONE that may not work and may leave me without a usable PC!
    What should I do!

    Hi Fred

Not taken in charge and is not possible are 2 different things.

How you proceed depends on how comfortable you are troubleshooting. It is very likely that you will end up you are looking for a few drivers for hardware on the sites of manufacturers or possibly replace certain hardware devices that are simply too old to work.

Windows 7 includes many of the compatibility of the tools that can help when you use the devices more old drivers/hardware and software troubleshooting.

If the Upgrade Advisor did not identify hard incompatible devices, I would say you should go try before the upgrade. Make sure you have all the latest drivers for the hardware installed and available on external media.

If you have any problems, come back here and start the new thread, we are here to help.

  • How can I reinstall Windows 8 on an OEM laptop when I don't have the product key?

I bought an Asus x401a laptop for my daughter as a Christmas gift. It comes preinstalled with Windows 8. Yesterday, the unit closed at key and we had to make a hard stop. On reboot, Windows will not start and instead came up with a screen that informed it was an automatic repair. This obviously didn't want to; the unit restarted and launched the auto repair, which once again. The third box... I had a few options: I could update the installation or reset it. There were several recorded files (we only had a few weeks), so I chose Reset, which if I understand correctly, it would clear everything and start over. After a while, another screen informed me that Windows could not reset the computer, who took over the entire process to the wire.

I ran across this process several times, each time with the same result. I do not think that anything is actually wrong with the material (such as menus and other seem to work correctly; I think it's maybe just a corrupted file system) and I'd like to do a reinstall of the operating system, as it came from the factory. This is where I ran into my problem:

    • I can't download the Microsoft operating system legitimately, without providing the product key in the download tool
    • The product key is apparently built into the BIOS and not print anywhere, so I can't find my existing key without some sort of tool
    • Various tools are available to 'sniff' the product key from the BIOS, but because Windows is not running, I can't use them

So my question is: exactly what should be my next step? ASUS would have a copy of the key related to my serial number, etc.. ? Should I install an old copy of Windows 7 just so that I can run a utility to get the key from the BIOS, or who will replace the number by something else? Or is there perhaps some way I can get the key of product directly from you?

I like to keep Windows 8, as my daughter has already learned the interface, but at this point, it looks like this may be impossible by design.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forums.

I understand that you reinstall Windows 8 in the OEM specifications.

As it is the OEM of Windows 8 version, the system manufacturer will have more details in this regard. I suggest you contact the manufacturer of the system.
