What format should I convert my MTS/M2TS videos for?

Hello

Last Saturday, we (a group of 5 fans) filmed a full rock using consumer camcorders level festival.

Required time, I wasn't the one to import the images, it's a friend who uses Sony Vegas on Windows 8.

All the files he gave then to me (some 500GB) are in MTS/MT2S format (except the images of the GoPro being MP4).

Now, as FCPX does not include these files when Drag hit its interface, I have to convert them.

There will be a maximum of 7 parallel taken to cut the best time of.

I read that I could ideally be convert the entire batch in ProRes 422 format, but I fear that this film could end up cluttering up my word disc (a Thunderbolt of LaCie broken record, 2 / 6TB that can read the 350 to 400 MB/s).

I also read that I could work using the much lighter MP4/H264 format.

Now I would like to know what would be the most convenient... even if the final rendering must take days, it is always an option if I can save otherwise a bit of disk space and still works fine.

Thanks for your advice.

My Council and I'm your producer or your accountant, is to invest to acquire the disk space (with adequate bus technology), you will need to work in ProRes422. You can also explore using the media of proxy, which is a workflow that I never studied.

You might need a way to exchange your project output so that your employees can see what is happening.

This project seems to have a lot of different people who is invested at a certain level, you can also backup and restore plan to protect their interests and yours.

  • What format should my files?

before that I am committed to the purchase of this product, if I want to take a pre-existing song and break up into individual instruments so I can manipulate them (as in a remix of an existing song to store some items, but change or add others), what format should my file?  is it important?  Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me.

I think I might have exaggerated what I really want to do. I want essentially to take existing songs and making them flow with the same beat that underlies each of them in a scope, a trail mix of several pieces. I know I should be able to adjust the tempo/BPM so that they are consistent, too, right?

So, if you think I'm capable of doing these two things with hearing, is there a certain file format that would be better than another?

Yes, you can do mixdowns which do quite easily - it is just a matter of butting places them on a track and adjusting how they go through. It is Visual and intuitive to do. And yes there are tools to change the speed of tracks, although it should be a little more careful with this, that the people are often very sensitive to changes in the titles they already know. The good news is that a lot of titles that are suitable for this kind of treatment are consistent in the choice of tempos, but with all these things, experiment a little will get you quite a long way.

As for the formula that you save the results in - it's actually not really a problem if you stick to the default values. The principle is quite simple; you mix the results down to the internal format of the hearing which is uncompressed wav files. Having done this, you can make a distribution of copy as an MP3 player if you want to. The reason to do it like that, is that whenever you create an MP3 file, you will lose information - in order to become an MP3 of an MP3 file is usually pretty bad news. And this also has implications for the way in which you build your tracks in the first place - try to not start with MP3s, but good CD imported directly or whatever. If you want to start with vinyl, then save as files wav, for exactly the same reason. Bottom line is that MP3 is a distribution format and not a production one!

  • What format should I use when I link document on my index page

I have links on my site Web is going to other documents.  I have been using pdf files.  Should I convert my documents to something else like language html instead of pdf or word.  I have Acrobat pro for conversion of pdf files.  In addition, what is the advantage if I converted to another format.

I see no benefit to the use of anything in addition to pdf files. Do not use the Word files; not all viewers will have the program on their computer, while Acrobat Reader is a free download.

  • Adding a file. What format should be?

My work past us sketch Autodesk Adobe draw today.

All my work was done on the sketch of Autodesk.

I want to open these files in Adobe Draw to convert and finish match draw.

    How do I do that?

And how do I add a project of Illustrator?

Also, I have access to Photoshop C6 if their extension must be changed.

    Thank you

    Short answer:

    • You can add any flat work as a layer in Adobe Draw. Save your Sketchbook Pro art in the library of pictures from your camera, and then import it as a raster image.
    • The design process going upstream, your print project can be refined by sending it to Illustrator CC

    Long answer:

    1. your company changed draw you Adobe Illustrator?
    Or a client/job Adobe draws a requirement?

    2. I also use Autodesk Sketchbook Pro for different reasons.  Draw in Illustrator and Sketchbook Pro are very different applications.  You won't be able to get the same results of design using Adobe Illustrator draw one.

If your business is introductory Adobe Illustrator draw as part of their work, they very likely already have licenses of Adobe CC that you can use (on or off-site). (See teams Adobe CC / company).  Unfortunately, Photoshop CS6 not currently will help you with the elements in editable from Adobe CC layers mobile apps.

I would recommend that you ask your employer to consider a Sketch from Adobe - enabling results similar to what you get in a Sketchbook Pro.  Sketch of Adobe will allow you to export directly to Photoshop CC. Adobe Illustrator draw will export to CC of Photoshop and Illustrator CC!

-With Sketchbook Pro, you will need to save/share the file.  With Adobe to draw or sketch from Adobe, you can just "send" for your CC application.

I'm not familiar with Autodesk "Sketch", but if you mean "Sketchbook / Sketchbook Pro", the foregoing applies.

Also - there is no reason why you can't use Sketchbook Pro in your workflow again.  You can import raster images as layers flattened in your drawing or sketch apps too.  So, if your business or your job requires you to use Adobe Illustrator to draw, don't forget there are several ways to use it!  I mix mobile applications all the time; Use what you need to run your creation.

  • I have a work of Illustrator on that I want to put on a Web site, what format should be recorded and how do I reduce the size to fit for example one is an A2 poster, then how to copy the watermark for printing from the web is useless

I have a work of Illustrator I want to put on a Web site, which would be registered in? also, it's A2 How can I reduce to the web so that the image is not distorted? and when it's done how do I watermark it so if someone wants to print from the web is useless? I'm a novice at this.

    Hi Alan,

Sue moved you here...? You answered my questions for the most part.

As Jacob and I have said so when you are in Illustrator and you have your work open, select file > save for Web...

From there, you will see a new window opens and you can choose your type of file (png-24/jpeg) quality, you want to be saved to and size too...

    See how you go.

  • Should what format I use for my external hard drive?

I have an external drive that I wish I could use (writing) from my Mac and my PC, but without the limitations of + 4 GB files.

Is this possible or am I pasted with limiting the size? If so should what format I use on my external hard drive? and it has all the other notes aside I should know?

    Thank you!

    Hi Filabaca:

If you want to use a hard drive external Mac and PC options are:

    1. format the drive in Mac as exFat

    2. format the drive to NTFS on a Windows PC and use a program like Paragon NTFS for Mac. https://www.Paragon-Software.com/home/NTFS-Mac/

Paragon NTFS for Mac allows you to use a disc formatted in NTFS by a Windows PC.

Here is an article showing the difference between FAT32, exFAT and NTFS. http://www.howtogeek.com/235596/whats-the-difference-between-fat32-exfat-and-ntf s /

  • Should what format I use for my external drive for time machine?  I have a WD 2 TB that is formatted for PC new drive.

Should what format I use for my external drive for time machine?  I have a WD 2 TB that is formatted for PC new drive.  When I got to disk utilities to erase, and then reformat the options are

    1 mac OS extended (journaled)

2 mac OS extended (journaled, encrypted)

3 mac OS Extended (respect for case-sensitive, journaled)

4 mac OS extended (case-sensitive, journaled, encrypted)

See the information below If you can not back up or restore your Mac with the help of Time Machine - Apple Support

When you select a drive to use with Time Machine, your Mac automatically prompts you if you need to reformat the drive.

    • If you are using an external drive connected to your Mac, use disk utility to make sure that your backup disk is formatted in HFS + extended (journaled) and is the partition type GUID Partition Table (GPT).
    • If you use a time Capsule, formatting the drive for Time Machine preferences automatically formats the drive as HFS + Extended (respect for case-sensitive, journaled) with a GUID Partition Table (GPT).

  • Windows Mail - what format must be a video to send?

My video format is MP4.  This who should I convert to in order to to e-mail?

    Hi Valerie,

You can attach any type of file to an email, as it is small enough to be managed by your ISP and ISP to the recipient.  A common limit is 10 megabytes, but you should check that your ISP and your recipient.

The real question is "my recipient can read this format?  It depends on what players they have installed and (sometimes) on what operating system they use.  You should ask before sending.

MP4 is a container, not a video format.  MP4 files may contain other things in a variety of video and audio formats.  Once you know which players on your PC can read the file, then you can advise your recipient what works for you.

If they say that they have Windows 7, and Windows Media Player 12 can manage more Mp4.  On Vista or earlier, WMP 11 usually cannot read the Mp4 except special codecs have been installed.  Otherwise, they would need a third of reading like VLC or Quicktime.  If they only WMP on Vista or XP, you can convert the file to WMV format before sending it.  If they have a MAC, Quicktime will be available to play the MP4.

Convert videos reduced quality, so it's best to avoid that, when this is possible.

  • What format is best?

One of my friends asked me to shot some photos of her children and after doing so, I edited, converted them into JPEG and their sent email to her. She was thrilled and said that she wanted to have some expanded 8 x 10. She asked if I could burn everything to a CD or DVD so that it could bring to printing local photo for the 8 x 10. So my question is... What format I would burn it to disc, JPEG or PSD? Also what is the best for a CD or a DVD?

Thanks in advance for any help!

What Colin said. Resizing the canvas just will give you an empty space around your images. You should instead trim.
