  58 57-56 best combination if you need to print on plain paper.  Excellent for photo printing.

  58 57-59 best for photo printing, especially for the B & W photos or photo with dark contrast.

  First, XL ink cartridges are physically the same size with normal cartridges (same number). The difference is more inks XL cartridges.

  Your printer has 2 black ink cartridges, one narrower called Photo ink cartridge and one large/more bigger called black ink cartridge. When printing in grayscale, the printer will mix all the colors to give B & W. If you want to print black ink only, you must indicate to your printer. Please try

  (a) double-click the desktop printer icon.
  (b) click on set preferences.
  (c) click on advanced.
  d select "Black ink" only for printing in grayscale
  (e) click Ok/apply.
  
  Note: printer must still all color inks and it will consume a very small amount of ink over the warmng of trial.

  During the warm-up routine, it will check all THE components, including the inks. It may stop here that something is missing or not right. My Photosmart 7510 can read and copy (white) with cartridges empty ink, but in general and to protect the life of the printer, I couldn't do that, only for the test.   The Site of HP SureSupply here lists the following references (to the United States, check the SureSupply site if you are located elsewhere.  The cartridges will be available by mail order from HP or other provider, if you cannot find them in local stores.

  The letters after the part number are generally not important, they indicate areas.

If the steps described in the following paper the link did not help, then you might make a physical print head cleaning. Bob_Headrick gave the steps to do this in the post below. If none of this does not work, you can either replace the printhead by contacting the support of HP, or you will need to replace the printer. If you are still in warranty, HP can replace the printer without cost to you. I'll link the information to get in touch with them below. The link takes you to a form to fill out. • Problem - has ink cartridge but no printing appears on the paper

  It is possible that the print heads have become clogged due to sitting for so long unused.  Try to run the three cycles of cleaning of the Toolbox.  If it does not recover the printhead, then place 1 "of very hot water in a cup and watch the nozzles of cartridge in hot water for about five minutes.  When it comes gently dry the printhead on a wet cloth dry contacts of the cartridge, then reinstall the cartridges in the printer, and try another cleaning cycle.
