What is a "device i/o error. (0x8007045D)?

As I'm trying to back up my computer using the CD - RW disc, the results are:

"The backup was not completely successful.

An error has occurred.  The following information can help you to resolve the error:

"The request could not be performed because of an i/o device error. (0x8007045D).

What does that mean?  Is there something wrong with my computer?

Hello Mamiskorason,

The disc you use should be fine but set the speed to 8 x, since that's what your drive is for. In general, you will receive an error or the disc will be empty if you are having problems with a disc.

  • The brand of the disc may be incompatible with the burner. Try a different brand of media.
  • The disc may be defective. Try another disc.
  • The burner can be due to a malfunction. To correct this information, see the documentation that came with the burner.
  • The burner or the disc is not compatible with the speed that you used to burn the disc. Try using a slower speed.

When you try to perform a full backup on a Windows Vista-based computer, you may display before the first disk backup ended following error messages:

The request could not be performed because of an i/o device error (0x8007045D)
Please rerun backup once the problem is resolved.

I backed up the files from my old computer Visa on a 1 TB hard drive.  I now need these files on my new computer.  I have a Mac with Parallels (virtual Windows 7) running on it.  I get the above error when you try to copy the files on the Mac or the side of Windows, Mac.  What is the solution to do this, to be able to copy the files?  Thank you!

    Hello

Try running chkdsk on the external hard drive to check if there are errors.

    1. Click Start, type cmd in the start search box, right-click cmd.exe in the list programs and then click Run as administrator.

    2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    3. at a command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

    CHKDSK X: /R

Note in this command, x is a placeholder that represents the drive letter of the volume you want to check.

    4. press y when you are prompted to check the drive the next time the system restarts.

    5. close all applications and restart the computer. Note When you restart, Windows checks the drive for errors, and then Windows starts.

    6. after that restart the computer check if you are able to move files on your hard drive.

  • Files could not be copied into a WD My Passport External Drive because of an error 0x8007045D i/o device

I tried to copy files from my hard drive into an external Western Digital My Passport drive. But, as I was watching the progress of the copy of the files, I noticed that only four files have been copied to the external. A large majority of the files could not be saved due to an error 0x8007045D i/o device. I noticed it's the same error I get when I shut down my computer (in this case it is said error of breakpoint or something). Drag / drop files did not work. Still later, my USB key no longer works.  I tried to check my hard disk for errors, but my camera came out clear.

I use Windows 7 Professional 32 - bit, E5800 Pentium Dual Core and an Asus motherboard.

How can I get rid of this error because I need to transfer my files specifically in the external hard drive?

Help, please. I'm not very tech savvy so simple instructions the better.

    Hi @roryheadmav!

You can try the basic steps in such cases troubleshooting - first try to connect the hard drive to an another USB port of the computer and if possible with another USB cable.

I hope that you will be able to transfer all the data you have, but in case it does not work, you can also boot into safe mode and try to copy the same and see if you can successfully complete the copy error-free operation. You can follow this article that describes how to enter Safe Mode.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Hope this helps and let me know how it went.

Error: 0x8078002A occurs when you back up to a 2.5 or 3.0 TB drive in Windows 7 backup and restore

    Answer ID 6618 | Last updated 19/05 / 2011-->

    Problem:
If you are using Windows 7 backup and restore with a drive to 2.5 or 3.0, the backup fails with an error code of (0x8078002A).

    Cause:
This problem is caused by a problem with the Windows 7 backup and restore when using disks with logical sector of 4 K sizes, which are found on WD 2.5 TB and larger external hard drives. This is different from a 'Advanced Format' drive (AFD) that use 4 K physical sector sizes. Readers of AFD should not cause this problem.

    Solution:
It is always possible to use a disc, as long as you don't need to use the drive with Windows XP. Using the quick WD Formatter tool, select factory default configuration to reformat the drive.

Warning: This tool will erase all data on your drive, in order to take the necessary precautions.

After formatting the drive mode factory default , the reader will be usable in Windows Vista and Windows 7. However, the drive will not be recognized in Windows XP. It is the only way to get Windows 7 Backup and Restore to work properly.

I am trying to copy some files from my drive HARD outside., but I get this error (error 0x8007045D: the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error).

I download a software defrag and defragmented my hard drive using fast (the software is O & O Defrag). I tried on another computer and got the same error. Is it a hardware problem. Hello Nyfixen,

    1. have you changed the permission for the external hard drive or files you are trying to copy?

    2. you have all important data (files) stored on the external hard drive?

    3. are you able to copy the external hard drive to the computer?

The Autorun.inf could not be a problem for that. It always seems to be a problem of permission for me. Some hard drives have a jumper on them for write protection. You should check the configuration of jumpers, thank you consult the manual that came with the hard drive for permissions.
