What is impact of oracle om if basic data go to SE1

Hi all

I would like to know what would be the impact on oracle basic if data go to SE1,.

for now, we use self and want to go SE 1

Here are the details of the db:

Banner                                                                                Con_id

12 c Oracle database Release 12.1.0.1.0 - 64 bit Production 0

PL/SQL Release 12.1.0.1.0 - Production 0

"CORE Production 12.1.0.1.0" 0

AMT for Linux: Version 12.1.0.1.0 - Production 0

NLSRTL Version 12.1.0.1.0 - Production 0

Thank you

There is no difference in the code of the Oracle.  The difference is that in terms of licenses. SE1 can be run on a server (2 connectors) very low.

  • What is recommended to load existing files CLOB data?

    In another post (Re: using TYPE for the different data types Billy gave a great example of why you don't want to build on-the-fly SQL and what is the significance of the performance improvements are using shareable cursors.)

    Part of the question that the OP was trying to solve, however, seems to come back several times and I saw a good response in any one place.

    So for Billy or other, which is the recommended method for loading CLOB data (and only the existing files CLOB data.

    1. the user and non-clob CLOB data.
    2. the non-clob data are loaded (or can easily be loaded) in several ways using treatment in bulk.
    3. the CLOB data exist in a file on a file system; each file must be associated with a unique ID value.
    4 assume that all the files are in a physical location, but not on the database server.
    5. Suppose you use 11 GR 2 (you can use an earlier version if you just want to mention what it is and why you chose it.

    What options are available for loading CLOB data in Oracle and what is the recommended option?

    Whether to actually load the data into a CLOB or leave it on the file system with just a pointer from the database using a BFILE type is more a matter of architecture. Personally, I'd rather have LOB data in the database where you have the options of much more robust security, where it will include database backups, and where I don't have to worry that someone will inadvertently move files on the disk and break links to them. On the other hand, have the files on the file system allows you to use all the operating system utilities you have to manage or manipulate them without having to unload and reload (but you can use XML DB to expose LOB data in the database as if they were on a file server (if you want to go on the configuration path that). It reduces the size of the backup of the database (even if it increases the size of the file system backup). And it can allow you to use the less expensive disk to store large amounts of LOB data (although you might do the same in Oracle with the LOB data in a separate tablespace).

    If you want to load LOB data, my preference would certainly be to have files on the database server (or a drive mounted on the database server) so that I could use external tables rather than SQL * Loader that makes it much easier to make loads in parallel and to trigger charges of the ETL process which is , presumably, running in the database.

    Even if it is very slow, you must make a return upwards before the race "repair disk". The risk of data loss is minimal, but do it anyway: Save and run to repair the disk.

    As for what it implies - most of the time nothing more than simply sitting and waiting to do his thing.

    My question is, why are there user processes to access data files? I think that it does not match the process architecture defined by Oracle. And most importantly, it does not mean a security leak in the database?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

    There seems to be some confusion, even in the Oracle documentation, in terms of nomenclature.

    Think of it this way. There is the client program that connects to Oracle, such as SQL * Plus, Toad, custom, etc. written application. This program runs on the client. This may or may not be on the database server.

    Then there's the Oracle database server process. They run always on the database server. These processes are of two types, the USER and the background.

    You can see:

    SQL> select background,count(*) from v$process group by background;

    B   COUNT(*)
    - ----------
              65
    1         37

    Here are copies of the file binary oracle attach directly to the SGA and interact with database files. The binary oracle works with several different "personalities" based on the different purposes, he is currently serving. The type of background process, are divided into different specific methods for specific purposes.
    Yet once, observe:

    SQL> select pname from v$process where background = 1;

    PNAME
    -----
    PMON
    VKTM
    GEN0
    DIAG
    DBRM
    PING
    PSP0
    ACMS
    DIA0
    LMON
    LMD0

    PNAME
    -----
    LMS0
    LMS1
    RMS0
    LMHB
    MMAN
    DBW0
    DBW1
    LGWR
    CKPT
    SMON
    RECO

    PNAME
    -----
    RBAL
    ASMB
    MMON
    MMNL
    MARK
    LCK0
    RSMN
    GTX0
    SMCO
    W000
    RCBG

    PNAME
    -----
    QMNC
    Q001
    CJQ0
    Q005

    37 rows selected.

    Thus, each background process serves a different purpose. For example. DBW0 concerns only to write data from the buffer cache data files and maintaining all data structures associated with it. Each background process above serves a different purpose, I will not go into all. Generally, the background processes start up time of instance startup, even though some may be started on demand, at a certain time after the start of the proceeding.

    Now, consider a dedicated server model. When you connect to the database by using SQL * Plus, for example, you run the binary "sqlplus". Assume that you are connected via SQL * Net. In this case, sqlplus connects to the listener, the listener creates an oracle server process, type 'USER '. This process always runs on the database server. It runs under the user 'oracle', and it provides your real and direct interface to the database. This user can interact with the database and read the database files directly.

    Mainly, your server processes the USER will read the data from the cache buffers and, in the case of an absence of cache, will read the data in the data files and loading into the buffer cache. In addition, according to the code path, it can directly read or write to the datafiles, bypassing the buffer cache.

    So, the bottom line, all server (USER and BOTTOM) processes, interact with the database and associated files. The code of client program (sqlplus, Toad, etc.) NEVER directly interacts with the database.

    Hope that things cleared up.

    Consider using the user_tables and it works the relevant schema rather than dba_tables breast or of all_tables as these allows you to specify the schema name too will require.

    set serveroutput on;

    DECLARE
      cursor curtab is
        select table_name
        from   user_tables;
      --from   all_tables where owner = '';
      v_cnt NUMBER;
    BEGIN
      FOR t IN curtab

        EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'select count(*) from '||t.table_name INTO v_cnt;
        IF v_cnt > 0 THEN
          DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(t.table_name);
        END IF;
      END LOOP;
    END;
    /

    Or...

    Ensure that statistics were collected for the schema and examine the value of num_rows in the user_tables view. ;)

  • Oracle database backup basics

    May I ask, from a point of view, low tech a little question on the backup/restore of Oracle databases. Are there tools commonly used for backup of Oracle database? And have you ever encounter the snowman DBA / other places you have worked to make bad backups? I'd like to hear horror stories about what can and will hurt in oracle database backups? It is a simple process, or wrong - this easy ens at the end and things / featuring data etc.?
    And the second part of the question is if you're looking for auditing oracle backup processes, that you are looking 'good evidence' that this is done in line with the policy /strategy?

    >

    Are there specific reasons why backups become unnecessary, i.e. what goes wrong, when it comes to restoration, it is not restore.

    There may be two reasons. One, for example, backups are accidentally deleted, partially or completely. Another way may be the backup is marked as obsolete due to the retention or some operations strategy as resetlogs who could not leave the backups in use.

    I was also wondering how easy it is perhaps "missing data" when planning a backup DB with RMAN? Is this possible? Have you ever seen do, and if so is there any 'specific' part of a database that is often overlooked during examination of what to plan for in the backup task?

    What do you mean by "missing data"? It would be possible if you don't take care of backups that you plan.
