What is meant by tied blue/yellow shield icon

Original title: shield icon

What is meant by tied blue/yellow shield icon that appears in a variety of contexts on the screen? He is currently on the bar tasks where it relates to an application install a Java Update.

This means that the program requires administrative privileges to run, which, if she wants to install something it probably correct.

More details here - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/some-of-the-program-icons-have-blue-and-yellow/b2d2a46e-ae4e-481b-a393-b8706afe3f12?page=1&tm=1392554909524

BUT as you can see from the discussion, it seems that people are sometimes seeing that when they have not used to and a lot of debate as to why.

original title: Windows Update acts confused - kb955759 does not appear when I check the updates manually, but it appears with the yellow shield after you have enabled the automatic updates.

I just reset my CMOS settings, writing zeros for my hard drive, repartitioned, reformatted and used the recovery cd Gateway system to get my computer to Windows 98se - factory settings, except at the beginning of the recovery of the system, when it says "press any key for advanced options," I pressed a key and then I unchecked all the default (3rd party) applications including Norton and left only 2 checked: "Updated USB Hub" and "Windows Shutdown Supplement," while nothing has been installed, leaving only win98.

Then I used my disc XP Home (SP2) update.  I, immediately after the upgrade to Windows XP, installed "Office XP with Frontpage, Developer Edition", then Norton 2012 before never connect to the internet.
Then, I connected to the internet and continuously update of Norton, before ever hitting the Windows Update page. The first thing I did then was to activate Windows, and then activate the office.
Then I hit the update of Windows "button" that says "get all your updates in one place... upgraded"Microsoft Update".  I, then, just kept hitting the page update and restart, until I find the SP3.  Then, I took a break, until the next day.

I have an ADSL broadband, with a Linksys EtherFast PCI card.

Then I got SP3, which installed without any problems.
So I just kept "microsoft continuous update" manually (and reboot), until there is no more updates - EXCEPT, I always uncheck Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - which was the only screening at the final stop for the night.  I think that I ticked the box "don't ask me about this update".

Then, in the morning, after you have enabled automatic updates, I noticed the yellow shield - Windows security icon (or whatever it's called), so I clicked on it and checked it was tellimg me was available [when I checked "Custom Install (advanced users)"].  What showed was 1 update - 955759 KB.

After the problem, already at the reformat (months and months), see the yellow shield telling me there are updates available, which were already installed (before rebooting), I checked manually on the internet with IE 8, pressing alt, "T", "U".  There is no updated list.  Then I checked through my history of update (twice), and KB955759 had not been installed.

My update setting is to let windows download ('important') updates, but let me choose when to install them.

What is the right - Windows Update (NO update important reporting) Site, or the yellow shield (reports [a] kb955759 [update])?

I can not yet confirm he is supposed to be an update for XP home kb955759, because I was unable to locate any detailed documentation on this 'thing' that protect the yellow safety seems to think is a significant update.

Just for the heck of it, I have disabled the automatic updates, cleared my browser cache, checked manually, updates from microsoft (windows) and found none (with the exception of software malware removal tool windows [which I have not installed]).  Then, I turned the automatic updates on, and without even being connected to the internet, the yellow shield popped up with the kb955759 "update"...

    Repost...

    1. If you open Internet Explore (only!) to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and run a CUSTOM scan, KB955759 appears in results?... If so, you manage to install it and/or security updates available?

2 after no. 1 above [<>], is the 'yellow shield' icon appears in the Notification area (on the left of your clock)?  .. and if yes, by clicking on the 'yellow shield' icon tells you that KB955759 or any other updates is ready-to-be-installed?  .. .and if so, you manage to install it?

3 after doing 1 # & #2 above [<>], is KB955759 or any other updates offered as a ready-to-install update when you go off your computer?  .. .and if so, you manage to install it?

... I guess that clearing the browser cache does not erase 'downloaded' updates.

Nope. If you want to clear the queue of the update...

    OPTION A:

    1. stop the automatic updates service:

    Start > run > (type or copy/paste) services.msc > click OK

(Stopping the service will take a moment)

2 remove the contents of the download folder:

    Start > run > (type or copy/paste) %windir%\SoftwareDistribution > click OK

Open the download folder and delete its content
    Close the window.

    3. start the automatic updates service:

    OPTION B:

    1. open Internet Explorer (only!) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910336 [don't know the titles, etc..]

    2. make disappear/close the Troubleshooter automatically pop up.

  • Yellow shield in the taskbar won't go away

I had a similar problem to that which has been reported in several other questions, where windows updates KB2572073 and KB2518864 moved successfully and then I would be invited to install again and again and again. I followed the suggestion of a couple of these other issues and uninstalled as well software .NET Framework as possible, then went through the process to install the latest updates for the .NET Framework to more recent levels.

I was always being asked to install KB2572073 and KB2518864 over and over again, so I downloaded the individual updates on the Microsoft web site and I installed them manually. Still once, they succeeded, but now I get the yellow shield in the taskbar icon, which suggests that the updates are available to be installed. But this time, when I try with the button right or left - click on this icon, it simply disappears and then comes back in 15-20 seconds. Click again and it goes for 15-20 seconds and back again.

Is there a way to get the yellow shield icon go away in this case? I know there is no other update to install because I can go to the Windows Update web site and select "Custom" and it tells me there are 0 packets. I just need to get rid of the yellow shield icon and bring her back only ago legitimately updates to install on my system.

    Hi rb0623,

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         The updates are installed successfully?

The tech to Norton which I paid $ 99.00 to, he says it's the NEW WINDOWS UPDATE! I checked around and people do not seem to know what I'm talking about, also with Windows 7.

Thanks, hope someone can help, I have 7 days to challenge the Nortons 'live' help I think he did good but I don't know if I can 'buy' on a new update of windows 7 where they place these symbols on top of all your photos of icons.

    hoosierclerk,

Whence this 'shield emblems popup "? If you are referring to them being on the shortcuts on the desktop, then this is expected behavior in Windows 7. There &nbp;Nothing to do with the Windows updates.

Also, please explain just where is the "Word administrator in all the icons and files ' you see?
And, please provide the name of the "Adobe type virus" that was supposed to be cleaned by Norton.

  • Some of the program icons are blue and yellow shield in Windows 7

What is the blue and yellow shield on some of my icons of programs. I can't understand how to remove the icon.

Items with the shield need administrator privileges to run.  Most of these things will give a UAC pop-up or must be performed by right click and choose 'run as administrator '.  I don't know of a way to remove the shield, but I've never tried it myself.

    Hello

This could be a normal behavior if all of these programs require administrator privileges to run.

Try to double click these shortcuts to see if you get the user account control window.

    Let us know.

  • Yellow shield in the taskbar - Windows found 1 update

I have a yellow shield appear in my sandbox.  When I click it, it says "Windows found 1 update.  This update requires that you accept first the terms of the license. "This is the first time I see this, because my updates are usually automatically installed.  Is this a virus any?  If so, how can I get rid of this shield?

Can't blame you for being hesitant.

Suggest manually, you go to the update site and see what's available for your system. Which should give a clue as to what is pending installation, or in the alternative, see windowsupdate.log.

How to view the log of update Windows: -.

Click Start and then click Run.
In the Open box, type: %windir%\windowsupdate.log
    and then click OK.

Scroll down for the latest entries.

Still in doubt, perhaps one of the experts here could focus on this issue to determine if it is in fact an update legitimate windows or something else.

  • Yellow shield in the system tray

Last night, I just downloaded the latest updates three which included KB890830, the malicious software removal tool.  The other two were (KB2880513) and (KB2878233).  The yellow shield shows that KB890830 is always available.  I am using XP - Pro SP3 and IE8.  Is - this another opportunity where can I uninstall and reinstall these updates?  There has been no recent problems with Windows Updates so far.

A few days ago I visited my XP computer.  The yellow shield is no longer in the system tray.  I don't know if Microsoft has nothing to correct this problem.  Thanks to all of you who have seen the post regardless of which corrects the problem.

Smittychat, forgive my being lax in this area.  My Internet and phone were down for the last two weeks of June.  I had to conduct all Affairs of the public library online.  Thank you all.  Here is my answer:

I installed KB263380 KB2572073 and KB2518864 three times with success; However, I get the yellow shield saying that I need to update to Windows XP

I ran the Mr Fixit for this problem, and briefly, the yellow shield disappeared, I thought that it worked.  But as soon as I clicked the solution worked and Mr. Fixit was gone, the yellow shield came back and said that I have to update these once again.

Thanks for the article.  The icon stopped appearing after the third time I've updated from Windows.  Someone must have solved the problem to Microsoft.  I did nothing except reboot several times.  Finally, the Update icon went in itself.

Windows Vista OEMact blue is NOT supported by Microsoft - if it is supported by the manufacturer, get all the information you need from them.  Buy Vista the correct and legal way by the seller or the Distributor (even if it costs money so).  I'll tell you anything more about this process that I'm not sure is still legal and may not provide a valid license or the product key for activation and may not result in a valid product.

  • Exercise 4 "iteration order", what is meant by there?

What is meant by "iteration order ' exercise 4?

    * Convert each pair key / value of the card in a string and add all the
    * in a single string in iteration order

A card has an underlying order to its elements, crossing the map in the order of iteration is just cross the map in the order as I understand it.

And its form current TreeMap effectively guarantees the order of its elements, which explains why it has been used in the exercise.

    That means exercise 4, you'd have the following string: 'a, 1 b, 2 c, 3' for a< b=""><>

    Hubin

    Hello
As receivables or Payables, may contain amounts due to (or to the) related parties (such as other companies belonging to the same group), as well as any other third-party debtors (or creditors). We usually brake the total amount of these accounts using the dimension of PKI. The 3rd part of the part of the balance of the account go to the Member [no PIC] and apparent sales go to the correct PKI member of the same dimension. Then the balance of the account is summarized in [high PEAK] member, who can be considered to be the amount of the "gross". Then the amount Net of"peak" is the exclusion of all intercompany partner rises - i.e. the amount [no PIC].
