Looks like you already have Microsoft Security essentials installed. Windows Defender is not necessary if you use Microsoft Security Essentials. Microsoft Security Essentials has its own antispyware component builtin and allows you to disable Windows Defender by design.

Also have a related problem about MS Maliciouws software removal tool. For download, but read in the KB that: in XP, the vacuum cleaner will remove the malware, but doing so may trigger the File Protection Win with damages to my operating system.  the tool will attempt to repair the damage, but to rehabilitate prior to infection, that I need to insert the CD of Win. As my computer came with Windows preinstalled, I do not have a disk and will not take the risk of damage, that I can't fix. Do I not download or not... ? Another solution... ?  I also fear that this tool could settle into the routine Win Update and need guidance on the prevention of this facility, if possible, or what to do if it cannot be prevented.

It can have nothing to do with any of the foregoing. Thanks a lot for any assistance.

    Hello

    ·         You have Microsoft Security Essentials on your computer?

If you have windows installed on your computer security essentials, then you will not be able to install Windows defender. Windows Security Essentials has antispyware component installed.

You get the error because you have installed MS Security Essentials, which has its own function to antimalware. You don't need or want to install Windows Defender, too. Leave MS Security Essentials installed and do not turn it off.

You apparently Forefront security or installed Microsoft Security Essentials. If this is the case, you can not install Windows Defender. MSE already has an element antispyware anyway. So what antivirus/security software you have already installed on the computer? I don't like Windows Defender on XP machines in any case. A better choice is MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware (free versions). Install and update / it run manually once a week or more. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • How can I remove Microsoft Client protection of my system?

I tried to install Windows Defender and at halfway through the guests to start the process, what he told me that I had to delete Windows Client protective of my system first. Then I could come back and start the installation.

How do I do that? I went to add and remove programs but have not seen anything that says Microsoft Client protection.

    Hi gaylordforeman,

    You have security software installed?

Microsoft Client protection comes with Microsoft Security Essentials.

    (a) If you have Microsoft Security Essentials installed, uninstall it since Add / Remove Programs.

    (b) subsequently, check if you are able to install Windows Defender.

What antivirus/security program you have already installed? Looks like you got Microsoft Live OneCare from Microsoft Security Essentials. These two will not install Windows Defender, because they already have antispyware components. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • I get the error message "Microsoft Client Protection has been found", but I don't have MS Security Essentials installed now what

First story... I installed MS Security Essentials, but I get something into my computer that caused his failure.  It would not uninstall, and then finally after a long struggle I finally got deleted.  I have no reference to it in the registry nor are there all of the folders on the computer I can find have all files to make it.  I tried to install it again but I always get an error that it cannot find the mp_ambits.msi file.  Even when I run at the prompt of msg in the folder newly created with this file in there.

I then tried to have at least the Defender installed to see running windows and then I get the "Protection of the MS Client has been found" which refers to the MS Security Essentials, which is not installed.  But there is obviously some there remains something that makes my system "THINKS" that Essentials is installed.

Anyone has an idea on how the devil clear this issue so that I can either install Windows Defender or Security Essentials?

Try to use the cleanup utility to remove the program completely from your computer:

    Hi Mitchjr,

    ·          You have databases of security of Microsoft or Windows live OneCare software installed on the computer?

If you have two Microsoft Security databases or Windows live OneCare software installed on the computer, you will not be able to install Windows defender on the computer. You will need to uninstall them or do not install Windows defender on the computer.

If you don't have Microsoft Security Essentials or Windows live OneCare software installed on the computer then you will need temporary deactivation of security software installed on the computer and then try to install Windows defender.

Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
