What is my old disk structure

My computer froze and I had to reboot as it was new, but when I did he put everything that was on my system in a former called my old disk Structure, but now I can not access files, any ideas would be helpful because I'm doing my taxes and my last two years are somewhere in this folder from my old disk Structure which I can not access.

Hi RandyFord,

Log on to your system as administrator and try to take ownership of the folder, you will need to right click on the folder-> Security-> select your username or add your username-> allow all permissions for the folder.

I hope this helps.

During a recent drive clean that I discovered I had 21745 KB of old files compressed - what are compressed old files?

AND is it OK to delete to free up disk space?

    Hi Janie,
We need a bit more info here. What you saw and where (or how do you here). XP can compress old files when they were little used. These files must be stored somewhere, and I think that you have found where. Do not delete them. If you went on the cleaning disc in the properties of a hard disk, you see where you can disable this active or disabled, but turn it off takes more space because you don't compress these files more. It can take a long time to turn it off too much because the system must find every file, unzip it save it to the hard drive and do the following. If it runs out of disk space free of it, it will stop and make either but then your hard drive will be very close to full and your entire system will slow down (it takes a good amount of HD to 'play'.

Looks like you need more disk space. Get another drive (expensive) or go to disk cleanup and try to compress the entire drive. It will take a lot of time, maybe hours or overnight depending on the working speed and the player. But it's free. Overnight is best. I think you can stop it (read the help on this). Do not turn It Off during the race. Bad move.

  • The file system on the disk structure is corrupted and unusable. ...

    Dell Optiplex 3010
    WD5000AAKX

    Windows 7 Pro SP1 64 bit

This is the drive that contains the operating system and was just replaced on 23 July. I restored the disk backups using Acronis True Image 2014.

From July 25, I started to see

The file system on the disk structure is corrupted and unusable. Please run chkdsk on the volume of OS utility.

in the system (Source Ntfs, event ID 55) event log.

I ran a CHKDSK /R on the disk and it reported no problem with the drive.

Except for the scary messages in the system event log, I see no problem, but I also don't see these errors on the other disk in the machine.

[I forgot to mention that the drive passes diagnostics pre-boot]

    What happens here?

I see nothing in the article in PC Magazine directly addressed the problem. You were talking about the complexity and the possibilities of seriously screw things with True global Image?

In addition, the link to the Microsoft solution irritates me to 'we're sorry, the requested page is not found.

However, I think I found the solution, and it is quite related software.

After scouring the logs of system events and application, I realized that the error I've been see is still bracketed by the subsystem VSS starts and stops and was almost always related to a backup operation or a virus scan.

Some research (Google search, in fact) have allowed me to suspect that successful shadows of the disc were somewhat corrupt, so I simply deleted them (vssadmin delete shadows / for = c: / all). Since then, there has been no error reported, new instant shade have been created, and everything else works OK.

  • Creating cloud app detection installation of LR on the old disk

Recently upgraded my Macbook with an SSD (MainDrive) and did a new install of 10.9.4 (Mavericks).  In the process, I moved my old HDD (now SecondaryDrive) from the optical drive.  This player has LR 5 installed, but I would have preferred a new installation of my new drive.  Creative application cloud seems to detect Lightroom on the old disk and simply States that it is "up to date".   What is strange, is has not detected installing CS5 on the player of old, now secondary.

Without touching on my old installation or by car, how can I get the cloud app simply install a new copy of LR on my now main SSD drive?  Is there a way to tell the application to the analysis only the OS disk?

I tried a few tricks such as deleting the file opm.db without success.  I moved the app LR on applications on the SecondaryDrive in the trash, restarted the creative cloud application and LR is still present.

I don't want to start in the other drive and uninstall LR, I think I would really not.  Any suggestions?

Just seen the status of LR installed to not installed.  I was just in the cloud application settings pane.  Very strange.

  • MacBookPro successfully updated for the SSD but old disk HARD not accessible as external drive

    OK people,

Successfully, I upgraded my MBP late 2012 to 1 TB SSD with the help of the community here. Thank you.

My old drive was an 8.1 El Capitan\Win Bootcamp and worked pretty well without fault.

I used the disk utility to clone the OSX partition and did a fresh install of Win10 through BootCamp.

    So far so good.

However, my plan was gradually transfer the files from the old partition Win 8.1 in the score of Win10 that I need them.

That is the problem. Win10 OS or my OSX recognize the old Win8.1 HARD disk partition. However, they both recognize the old OSX partition.

The two operating systems (OSX\Win10) was format\Initialise the old HDD when connected through a USB enclosure.

As a test, I swapped the old disk to the MBP and it started actual Win8.1 therefore the partition is accessible. Actually I'm in it starts now as I type this message.

Watch Windows Disk Manager partition as a RAW rather than NTFS where the desire to get in shape. I am reluctant to start playing with partitioning\recovery tools because I can access the drive while having to open the MBP, but it is accessible.

Is there a reason why the original HARD drive is not accessible as a normal external drive?

ATM my only option I'm looking at is a copy of right of ALL files in the Windows 8.1 on another disk partition so that I can easily access the files.

    Ideas or suggestions appreciated.

Try ejecting the disc (use disk utility), reboot and reconnect the drive.

  • What is an old video card?

    Hi guys,.

My first question is "What is an old video card"?

    • I use a desktop PC 2013 Dell Intel Core i7 with a nVidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti graphic card.which has 1 GB of on-board graphics memory.
    • I'm also using Windows 10 Pro (64-bit version)
    • I've seen various titles claiming to be sure you download only the good updates and version - but how can check which version of 64-bit is correct for me?
    • It is because my iTunes suggested in the video download plus card 64 bit version (at the time of IOS9.3) - and then was offering me the version.around usual 64-bit time of IOS 9.3.1. Hmmm...

My second problem/question is how can I get my iPad Mini to show as connected to iTunes?

    • Now my iTunes beeps in recognition of the fact that my iPad Mini is connected via the cable, and I can see the photos in the folder by using File Explorer - but it will not display the icon at the top of iTunes that I need to click on in order to select the movies and music to transfer to the iPad mini...

If it is useful or relevant, these issues begins around IOS 9.3

The label "for older video cards' is something wrong - that this version may be answering questions with older video hardware, it actually is the 32-bit application with a 64-bit Installer.  Even on systems with 'new' video cards, the "older video cards" can be more stable and to avoid problems of compatibility with some applications 3rd party.  Update from Apple system really does not recognize the existence of this version - a Windows 64-bit system two iTunes download webpage and Apple software update will offer the standard 64-bit Installer.  If you have found that the version "for older video cards" worked for an earlier version of iTunes, you may find that when an update is released.

Material of Baring emits what is the largest disk Windows 2000 Workstation, able to work with 500 GB disks, will be able to work with?

    James ludovic

    James,

There are a few things to think about here:

    • NTFS can support 256 terabytes
    • MBR disks can support 2 Terabyte drives
    • Dynamic disks are not limited to the MBR 2 Terabyte limit
If my understanding is that if your drive is formatted in NTFS and you have a dynamic disk, Windows 2000 can support up to 256 terabytes. For more information about dynamic disks, seeworking with basic and dynamic disks.

  • Error 0 x 80070571: the disk structure is corrupted and unreadable

I recently had an error message saying "error 0 x 80070571: the disk structure is corrupted and unreadable," in reference to C:. I tried chkdsk oh so many times. No change.

Recently, I was able to access the C: files sporadically. Occasionally, sometimes not. However, I can access my files in safe mode.

When I start in normal mode, the system is acting funny. I will try to describe. It starts very well, go anyway for the office and everything. Sometimes, I am able to use the laptop for a few minutes until everything freezes but the cursor; nothing else responds, even not ctrl + alt + delete. Other times, I'm still not that chance. You know how pointing the cursor on an icon temporarily highlights the icon? Highlight the thing is sometimes just to block the system. Once locked, all I can do is hold down the power button.

I tried the system restore, but it never once helped me with the cause of the system error.

I also deleted some programs out of the startup list. Not sure if this would have an effect.
I am running Vista Home on a HP Pavilion dv5.

    Thanks for the reply.

    I tried all three methods.

Methods 1 and 2 have helped for a while, but not long. Method 3 found nothing.

The only solution I can think of is to backup my personal files, then do a system format. Before you do a format, is there anything else that you could recommend?

I have a lot of files on the drive I want to lose.can someone give me advice on how to solve this problem, I hope iv gives you all the info you need. Thanks in advance

    Hi helzf,

You can try to run a Checkdisk on drive E to fix disk errors that can cause this problem. You can make a backup of the data on this drive and try to run checkdisk.

    Check out the link:

Check your hard drive for errors

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors

Note: When you run the disk check, there are chances of losing data if you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Stuck with Windows 7 64 bit from the old disk HARD of SSHD migration

There are a lot of smart people on this forum - maybe you can advise me. I recently bought the Seagate 4 to Desktop SSHD ST4000DX001. I'm stuck with migration my Windows 7 64 bit and all the data from the old HDD to the SSHD.  Then I used the Windows Disk Manager to format the SSHD in GPT format (recommended by Windows). Then I used XXClone (freeware from the internet) to clone my old HDD. There was a message of XXClone who said that as the SSHD is GPT formatted, it didn't ensure that the clone is bootable. I tried to start the sshd with the clone of my operating system and data. It did not work.  Now I use the new SSHD as a secondary drive and I use the old HDD as primary bootable drive.  My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-A55M-DS2.  It's EFI but not UEFI.  I heard that EFI support starting from the 3 TB GPT partition while UEFI support starting from much larger disks.  Is this information correct?  Does this mean I have to change the motherboard in GA-H61M-D2H-USB3 to use my 4TB SSHD to start from a GPT formatting?  Help, please.  Thank you so much.

Problem solved.  I did a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit for my new 4 TB (format decimal numbering system) SSHD (3.63 TB in binary system).  He starts without a problem.  The cloning approach has not worked because my old HDD MBR format and it the SSHD uses the GPT format.  This means that I have to re-install my games and copy my data from the old disk to the new.  Thanks to everyone who responded to my messages.

  • Remove the old disk

I had a crash disk due to wildly waving 8 year old and I got on a new drive, but that is still hanging out in my catalog. Rename the new identical to the old location isn't practical, so I need to completely remove the old one. Is there a way to tell Lightroom to completely remove a disk from the database? Something like the rm command?

    I use Lightroom 5.7 on OSX 10.11.5.

... so I need to completely remove the old one. Is there a way to tell Lightroom to completely remove a disk from the database?

No, what you want to do is to point Lightroom on the new disk.

In Lightroom, right click on the top-level (Parent) of your photos on the old drive folder, select find missing files and then in the dialog box that appears, select the top-level (Parent) of the new disk folder. More details are in this document (in particular, see Figure 4 and related text) Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing

  • I want to move my itunes library from my old PC to my new Mac, but the files on the PC in the old file structure.  How can I do this?

I'm afraid that if I followed the instructions here (How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support), it will mess up things on my Mac that the file structure is totally different.  Is there a way to first convert the structure of the files on the PC to match the structure of files on Mac?  I've updated the version of iTunes on the PC for 12.1.3 (who he says is the most recent).  I tried following the instructions here: iTunes: understanding iTunes Media organization - Apple support but it is not an "Upgrade to iTunes Media organization" option when I go to the library to organize on the PC.  All advice is appreciated.

This document is a bit outdated. File > library > organize library > reorganize files does the same thing as the the old upgrade to iTunes Media organization. For more information on preparing your library for the move, see make a library of portable split .
