I lost inadvertently communication on my hard drive for the OS and Raid 5 data readers.  Currently I can not start the server and need assistance in getting to the top.  I installed 3 new drives to set up a backup and during the process, I've dethroned poor readers.  How can I determine which is the main OS drive and who are the 3 logical drives that are the data reader.  I guess I have to tell the server which drive is the boot drive, but a little shy gun now after this experience.

    Thank you

"I do my best to ensure that the information provided is accurate and I am very confident that it is."

I believe you, but information is no not any sense, as planned.

"I work from my phone and do not have Internet access to perform the procedure requested right now."

It is perhaps the only way to get it online.

"As long as the battery is concerned, I was told that when the battery is only one branch that it will release the current configuration and start cut line."

It will not.  The RAID configuration is stored in a NON VOLATILE memory.  Disconnect the battery will clear the memory VOLATILE of the controller, which is used only for write cache.

"Regarding the location of the reader, what the raid controller tells me.

Just to clarify: the system EACH time it starts, when the charge controller, that none of the logical drives are found?  And there is no message indicating how you choose/use/save a configuration do not match?

If you know disk 9 is your RAID 0, you can try power off, removal of all readers (hold that which), insert the diskette 9 on the slot 0, then start CTRL-m, configure, view/Add... If you are prompted to choose between the drives and the NVRAM, choose drive, then save to the output and try to start the operating system.

If it does not, I would start thinking about data recovery or restore from a backup.

  • PowerEdge R910 Raid Controller version

    Hi all

How can I check the version of RAID controller and the Drac version of linux? I'm looking to upgrade both.

    Thank you!

    Jbonpland,

The best way to see both devices information would be to install OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA) on the system, if it is impossible, the only way to get information from the Drac use IPMI tool and with the Raid Controller you will need to use something like MegaCLI.

If you prefer to use OMSA download here - http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/index/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=C8V9M&fileId=3291475553&osCode=RH60&productCode=poweredge-r910&languageCode=EN&categoryId=SM

Let me know how it goes.

  • How do I know what RAID controller works the box?

Using the VMware Compatibility Guide, how do I know what RAID controller works out of the box (no installation necessary driver, no action necessary special) for 5.5 ESXi update 2?

PS - I initially assumed that if they appear then they work OOB, but there is nothing on the page registration or landing pages of the device that makes this clear.

Once you click the RAID controller in the HCL, you will see all the supported versions of ESXi with the appropriate driver listed as "inbox" or async". There may be more driver for a specific version, but if one of them is stated as "inbox", it is supposed to work out of the box.

  • Qosmio F30: Need 64-bit driver for RAID controller

    Can someone help me?
    Please, I beg you!
    I have a Qosmio F-30.
Where can I find 64-bit raid controller driver?

    Is there somewhere?
    Please, help me!

Unfortunately, the 64-bit XP drivers are very rare and on the Toshiba driver page, you will find everything.
Perhaps because Toshiba is not liberating all computers laptops equipped of XP 64-bit operating system.
See only one way to find one; Google for 64 bit driver s David and maybe you succeed

    Hello Paul,

What you need to do is on the replacement controller to pull the raid battery and wait about 2 minutes then reinsert it again. Also I want to try to do is to Flash the firmware on the system as well.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • vSAN RAID controller compliance

    Hello

I improved vSphere to 6U1/vSAN 6.1 last night and everything went very well - happy days. I noticed that the new plugin of the health has reported a compliance issue with my Raid Controller driver version. Either way, I'll have a latency intermittent host at this time and I think that this could be the culprit. I'm totally confused however as what needs to be installed. Before you deploy vSAN (about a month), I've updated through iDRAC all devices on my Dell R720xd 3 including RAID - H710Mini PERC controllers.

    vSAN THAT HCL needs:

    Firmware: 3.131.05 - 3415

    Pilot: megaraid_sas version 6.603.55.00.1vmw

I need to reboot the servers to check the firmware version as iDRAC States 21.3.1 - 0004, which is apparently, according to this thread of dell, the version of the package, but assuming that the firmware version is correct, it leaves me with the driver update to version megaraid. I use a Dell ESXI ISO's so my question is, where can I get the megaraid driver and how do I install it in ESXI?

Any help would be massively appreciated.

That scrap. I've upated the "copy local HCL DB" and then ran a new test and everything is in line/green so everything seems fine!

  • The RAID controller compatibility

Hi I just bought a new system and intend to use a RAID controller to configure a RAID array.

The controller that is available is ""Intel RS25DB080"." I've never done this before so to start I wanted to ask you how can I check if it is compatible with my x 99 Deluxe motherboard?

(he did not appear on the page that mentions the compatible products: Specifications of RS25DB080 for the Intel® RAID controller)

Secondly, it would be possible to set up several RAID arrays using a single controller? that is, if I want to do a table composed of 3 disks and another 3 more I have to buy an extra card?

Also if this controller is not compatible what other controller I'll buy? And what exactly what I look for in a RAID controller if I'm looking for one? (Currently I just check to see if it's a SATA or SAS controller)

So, basically, do not know much about the RAID needs your help, thank you!

Generally if you are serious about RAID for the only real video editing solution is arec, because you will need 3 RAID or Raid 6.  There are a number of X 99 different systems with the Areca RAID card installed I am owner of a BOW 1883i, which works very well in my x 99 motherboard, I have it configured with 7 discs each RAID 3 Samsung 840 Pro I probably will be getting rid of it I can get nearly the same results with a SSD of unique m2.  In my old age, I went basic/simple rather than exotic.

  • replaced RAID controller - new signature or use existing assignment request

    Hello

Recently, I replaced a problematic to find RAID controller that the virtual drives are not mounted automatically by VMWare after a reboot.  I guess it's because when I add data warehouses, I wonder to use the existing disk signature or to assign a new signature.  At the beginning, I chose to use the existing one.  If I chose to create a new signature, this will solve my problem of mounting disks does not automatically?  If so, my BONES existing comments will be tactful or they might have problems?

Resignaturing a data store should not harm the data on this subject. However, after resignaturing you can see all the VMS in the inventory as inaccessible and need to remove the inventory and add their .vmx files in the data store Navigator right click. What you can try is to manually mount persistently store data from the command line to see if that solves the problem without resignaturing (see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1011387).

  • Signature LUN after replacement of the RAID controller

    I have the following scenario:

I had a Cisco UCS server with an LSI controller. I needed to replace the controller to another, the same form, different model.

I've done the replacement physical, powered on the server. ESXi starts fine, but no data store appears. Data warehouses are on the local hard drive. There is no remote storage.

When I try to add the data store, I had 2 options of mainly:

    -Keep the existing signature

    -A new signature assing.

I'm sure both will work, and I'd go with the first.

However, I would like to know what impact the selection of one of these options. Similar cases, I will, will that be the best since I'm on a new material for RAID controller?

Or would it not matter at all if I keep the same signature?

I have beenr of reading on these 2 options, and for local storage, they do not seem to make any difference, but would like to know any other thoughts.

I kinda fear Award for a new signature.

    Thank you.

Due to the replacement of the controller, the ESXi host now recognizes the LUN as a snapshot LUN, it contains a signature known, but it is presented to another controller. Given that you can ensure that the logic unit number is unique, I don't see a requirement for resignaturing it.

  • hardware RAID controller of VMware hypervisor 5.0

    Hello!

We intend to buy HP Proliant DL380 G7 with 4 HDD hot swapable, now what I want to do is to configure this 4 HDD for RAID 1 + 0

    1. If I install VMware vSphere Hypervisor ESXi 5.0 do I need to buy a hardware RAID controller, to be able to install ESXi 5.0?

    Thank you

    Michael

Yes, if it is one of the 3 models mentioned in the section "storage controller."

Models of HP Smart Array P410i/Zero Memory Controller (RAID 0/1/1 + 0)
    Base models HP Smart Array P410i/256 MB controller (RAID 0/1/1 + 0/5/5 + 0)
    Models of performance HP Smart Array P410i / 1 G FBWC controller (RAID 0/1/1 + 0/5/5 + 0)
Available upgrades: 1 G FBWC 512 MB FBWC, 256 MB, 512 MB with BBWC, battery set level (for 256 MB cache) and Smart Array Advanced Pack (SAAP)

then the controller hardware RAID (P410i) is already included and you can only get the FBWC.

  • For ESXi 4.1 - 2805 Adaptec RAID controller?

    Hello.

ASUS is not come through one of the PIKES are delivering controllers, I am looking for an another SAS/SATA Raid Controller supporting at least 6 disks and Raid 1 + 0, what I also learned as ESXi requires that it be a H/W Raid Controller.

I'm looking on the Adaptec RAID 2805 controller specifically.

It is one of the adapter entry level Raid controllers, then it is offered at a low cost and whereas it will be a small "House" use server runs a number of images of Windows/Linux, I don't think it would be as sensitive as the price difference is to choose an Adaptec RAID 5805 controller instead.

It is, does anyone have any experience with the Adaptec RAID 2805 controller? Since it is not listed on the compatibility guide, however the Adaptec RAID 2405 is and as far as I can tell the difference is the number of channels op. the 2405 would properly cover my needs as well if I could find a retailer for her near me.

So, the question, because any who have experience running VMware ESXi 4.1 on a Raid 1 + 0, using SATA disks with any of the listed controllers?

OK, found a Danish dealer who could acquire the LSI card.

  • E200I RAID controller

    Hi all!

    I installed ESX 3.5

on a HP Proliant 350 G5 and my RAID controller is e200i. I made 2 of my 72GO

    Hard drives on a RAID 1 + 0 and 4 x 1 TB RAID 5.

Everything looked very nice, but I don't see my hard drives in RAID 5. I have

tried to find some drivers for e200i but everywhere is written that these

drivers are included in the installation CD. When I connect to the server by using the Client - I can see my raid controller, but can not see my additional hard drives.

If someone has an idea what to do? (o).

Thank you very much in advance and you will appreciate any help!

Welcoem to the Forums - 4 x 1 TB RAID 5 means that your datastoe is 3 TB - ESX can recognize only of storage of data less then 2 TB - you will need to carve up the storage differently.

  • Upgrade 2 T110 S300-based hardware RAID controller

I have a Power Edge T110 2 provided with a PERC S300 SAS controller attached to 6 internal drives and execution of Win2008R2. I'm about to rebuild the tower as well as a Ubuntu Linux server and need to change the S300 with something that is hardware RAID. I'm looking to the PERC H200 as substitute, however I have a few problems.

Mainly, the H200 seems to have internal mini SAS 26 pins, while the S300 has 32 large internal regular PIN. Would normally not be a problem, but the T110 also shipped with a certain type of cable combo, which integrates the internal Rod 32 with for each of the four HDDs that it can reach the food.
In addition, it seems that this combo cable is integrated on the power supply.
I need to understand what the card can I use to replace my software RAID controller with a hardware RAID controller and always use the combo cable OR how can I replace the cable with the new card.
    Thank you!

Part number 342-3389 includes the necessary cables.
