The RAID controller compatibility

Hi I just bought a new system and intend to use a RAID controller to configure a RAID array.

The controller that is available is ""Intel RS25DB080"." I've never done this before so to start I wanted to ask you how can I check if it is compatible with my x 99 Deluxe motherboard?

(he did not appear on the page that mentions the compatible products: Specifications of RS25DB080 for the Intel® RAID controller)

Secondly, it would be possible to set up several RAID arrays using a single controller? that is, if I want to do a table composed of 3 disks and another 3 more I have to buy an extra card?

Also if this controller is not compatible what other controller I'll buy? And what exactly what I look for in a RAID controller if I'm looking for one? (Currently I just check to see if it's a SATA or SAS controller)

So, basically, do not know much about the RAID needs your help, thank you!

Generally if you are serious about RAID for the only real video editing solution is arec, because you will need 3 RAID or Raid 6.  There are a number of X 99 different systems with the Areca RAID card installed I am owner of a BOW 1883i, which works very well in my x 99 motherboard, I have it configured with 7 discs each RAID 3 Samsung 840 Pro I probably will be getting rid of it I can get nearly the same results with a SSD of unique m2.  In my old age, I went basic/simple rather than exotic.

  • Install the raid controller during the installation of ESXi5

    Hello

Today, we plan to install ESXi5 on our server.

We had no problems during the installation of ESX4.1 as he ask custom drivers when it starts.

But ESXi5.0.0 does not ask for the installation of the custom driver and we cannot install raid controller driver!

I do not know how to resolve this so I wanted to know is possible to install the raid controller?

    Thanks in advance.

I know I ask too many questions, but I know a little bit about it.

No problem, that's what the forum is done

Now should after you download the Image how I use it?

Burn the image to a CD and run the installation from the bootable CD. Remember, though, that the image is usable only for new installations, not for upgrades (see release notes).

  • PowerEdge 860 - PERC RAID controller compatibility

I would like to add RAID 1 functionality on a PowerEdge 860 server we have at the office.  I was unable to determine what is the Dell Reference number for the RAID controller for that server.

Is there a Dell RAID controller with BBU Cache memory which can support the PE860?   Would the PERC 5 / i raid controller work?  If so, what model number of Dell is compatible.  As the PE860 has long been considered his retirement there is nothing from the Dell Web site.  Searching the Web I found not less of 6 different numbers of parts Dell for a PERC 5 / i controller.

Thanks in advance if anyone can be useful.

    -Paolo

    Hello Paolo

    PF100
Is there a Dell RAID controller with BBU Cache memory which can support the PE860?

No, the only supported the internal RAID controller is the SAS 5/IR. The SAS 5/iR has no cache. The PERC 5 / I is not supported on the 860. The only controllers that contain cache are external controllers as the PERC 5/e.

You might be able to get a PERC 5 / i for work on the server, but we have not posted it to the 860. There is not many versions of the PERC 5 / i, which have been released, so I'm pretty confident that most or all of the part numbers you have found work. Whenever we change something on a part given a new part number. For example, if we decide to start using another antistatic bag to ship the PERC 5 / i in then we would give him a new part number.

You can see here the valid controllers. The 860 is displayed on the inheritance tab:

  • ESX4i does not see the RAID controller card

I install the ESX4 and the ESXi4. Considering that ESX sess card RAID controller, ESXi4 will not work. I was wondering if there was a solution to this?

Memory I don't remember ESXi4 support adding additional drivers (unlike ESX4 Installer) but I was wondering if I climbed to U1 ESX4i, that would help. Or is just "not supported"?

My problem has been resolved by the way of the ESXi 4.0 to ESXi 4.0 Update 1... which includes a driver update...

I managed to ESXi in order to run from a USB key on the servers, but found the previous day, and DPM mode did not work properley. While he was going to suspend the ESX box very well, the machine just and seems to lose its settings to boot PXE boot - regardless of what I did with the BIOS...

I found ESX4i U1 to install on the physical disk is more reliable...

  • General on the raid controller and hardware

    Hello

I have that the hard disk controller or controller raid (0,1,5) does not work on a computer, if I add hollow PCI slot a wil raid controller or hardware, computer, or the raid not works normally?

    Johan

    Hi Johan,.

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Community Forums.

Ideally it is dependent on the PCI slot you use, if the PCI slot supports the hard disk controllers and RAID controllers so it will work with the computer. Almost all modern PCI slots supports the hard disk controllers and RAID controllers.

  • Insertion/thanks to the RAID controller plug in PCIe card in a UCS C220 M3, rather than embeded RAID controller?

    Hello!!

We have a UCS C220 M3 server with a 1 TB SAS hard drive and a controller RAID embeded, like this:

    1

    UCS-HDD1TI2F212

    1 TB SAS 7.2 K rpm 3.5 inch HDD/hot plug/disc horse sleigh

    1

    UCSC-RAID-ROM15

    Embedded SW RAID 0, 1, 10, 5, 4 SAS/SATA ports

If I add this controller RAID PCI card to my UCS server:

    UCS-RAID-9266CV =

    MegaRAID 9266CV-8i w/TFM + Super CAP

    US $ 1,686.00

Going to work with her, ignoring the old RAID embeded it configured?

The question is that VMWARE is not supported controllers shipped my RAID, so I want to add an external RAID PCI controller to support VMWARE.

I don't know if it will work.

    Thank you!!

    Rodrigo,

The embeded controller is built and not removable, it is integrated into each C220/C240. The units are designed to operate with PCIe controllers and mezzanine table when it is properly configured.

Once you install the controller of the SIPC, you will need to do the following:

    (1) move the conectors mini SAS to the motherboard in the LSI PCIe controller

    (2) make sure that the slot PCIe what optionrom is enabled in the BIOS. (newer systems have their OptionROM disabled in the uninhabited slots (from the factory). If you do not see the OptionROM for the POST, then go back into the BIOS and enable the slot PCIe OptionROM

    (3) while you are in the BIOS, you can thus turn off Patsburg UCS regulatory table (the table embeded). It is of no use at this stage that you removed the cables up to the HARD drive Bay. It is also misleading if left active, you will see the configuration of arrays of LSI utility appear twice during POST. Time for the embeded and once again for the PCIe LSI controller.

  • Signature LUN after replacement of the RAID controller

    I have the following scenario:

I had a Cisco UCS server with an LSI controller. I needed to replace the controller to another, the same form, different model.

I've done the replacement physical, powered on the server. ESXi starts fine, but no data store appears. Data warehouses are on the local hard drive. There is no remote storage.

When I try to add the data store, I had 2 options of mainly:

    -Keep the existing signature

    -A new signature assing.

I'm sure both will work, and I'd go with the first.

However, I would like to know what impact the selection of one of these options. Similar cases, I will, will that be the best since I'm on a new material for RAID controller?

Or would it not matter at all if I keep the same signature?

I have beenr of reading on these 2 options, and for local storage, they do not seem to make any difference, but would like to know any other thoughts.

I kinda fear Award for a new signature.

    Thank you.

Due to the replacement of the controller, the ESXi host now recognizes the LUN as a snapshot LUN, it contains a signature known, but it is presented to another controller. Given that you can ensure that the logic unit number is unique, I don't see a requirement for resignaturing it.

  • Disable the RAID controller driver

    Hello

Please correct me the below script, I need to disable this driver "lsi_mr3" to solve the problem of OS freeze on cisco UCS M4 blades.

  • How do I know what RAID controller works the box?

Using the VMware Compatibility Guide, how do I know what RAID controller works out of the box (no installation necessary driver, no action necessary special) for 5.5 ESXi update 2?

PS - I initially assumed that if they appear then they work OOB, but there is nothing on the page registration or landing pages of the device that makes this clear.

Once you click the RAID controller in the HCL, you will see all the supported versions of ESXi with the appropriate driver listed as "inbox" or async". There may be more driver for a specific version, but if one of them is stated as "inbox", it is supposed to work out of the box.

  • Disk HARD/RAID controller not no projection in the State of health

I've recently updated several ESXi 4.x hosts 5.1 and after the upgrade disks and the raid controller are showing is more in the section of the State of health of vSphere. The servers are all Dell PowerEdge 2950 and I even tried to make a fresh full install which did not help either. Here is a screenshot of the State of health of the problematic server. I need to get this resolved so that our monitoring solution can see the status of the disks/table.

    esxi4 health status.png

Here is a screenshot of an another PowerEdge 2950 still under 4.1 and it shows the disk controller and raid fine.

    esxi8 health status.png

Anyone seen this before? or have any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    Thank you

    Greg

For any other person who comes through this, the problem is caused by ESXi 5.x is no longer handling/Bay record of voting in the same way as 4.x and earlier (see screenshots in an original message for comparisons). The only way to get the matrix of discs/fully new election is to have the ESXi host managed by vCenter (standalone no longer works). Hope this helps others as it was a big headache for me for awhile.

  • Z640 Workstation: z640 RAID controller drivers

Hello everyone, I'm having a hard time finding the drivers for this device: RAID controller. I've included a picture, someone please help!

    Hello:

Yes, this is the info I was looking for...

I zipped and attached to the driver that you are interested in below.

Download and uncompress the file in its folder.

Don't do anything with the files in the folder.

Go to Device Manager and click on the RAID controller requiring driver.

Click the driver tab.  Click on set to update driver.

Select her browse my computer for driver software option and navigate to the driver folder, that you unzipped.

Make sure that the include subfolders is selected and the driver should install.

    Then restart the PC.

To make it short: did the series Qosmio F50 got a RAID Controller? Is it possible to rotate the 2 HDD in RAID 0?

    Hello

    > Qosmio F50 series you have a RAID controller?

No, as I know the Qosmio F50 series doesn t supports the RAID controller.
It supports a simple SATA controller but not the RAID and so you cannot use RAID-0.
