What is the purpose of the *.pdf file in c:\windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\W32x86\3 directory?
My *.pdf in the c:\windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\W32x86\3 continues to grow until my spooler goes down. What is the role of the *.pdf file in the print driver?
All that I can say is that my main printer is a HP Laserjet P2014 and there is no pdf files in the folder that you are referring to.

Came across an interesting problem this morning. After starting my PC from various applications (OutLook 2002, Management Studio of SQL Server 2008, etc.). I was able to connect to a server by using Remote Desktop (RDP, alias). On trying to connect to a second system, I started getting the following error message:
The system cannot find the specified file. C:\WINDOWS\system32\
\mstsc.exe.MUI Will always be connected to the server, I tried to launch a second instance using RDP, but received the same error message.
I googled the error and found different solutions (the best solution to examine ishttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itproxpsp/thread/164d1e0b-51e6-4201-9dc2-3f4a0ccb14e5), however, none of the solutions seemed to work.
I tried checking the virus/malware, etc, but nothing was found. I tried to re - load the dll and the exe (s), but still not received the error message.
The next solution was to try to see what can be changed on my system (new programs, etc.). I noticed there is an update downloaded to my system (C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log): AutomaticUpdates content success install successful and Restart required for the following update: update for Windows XP (KB969084)... the update is related to remote desktop.
I rebooted the system, still not received the RDP error messages. Is I did a complete "install updates and shut down ', and then restarted my system that started working again.
For the record, here is some information on my system:
XP Professional: Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.091208 - 2036: Service Pack 3)
c:\windows\system32\mstsc.exe: 6.1.7600.16385
I wanted to just post this in case someone else runs into a similar problem...
Thank you!
Argue for your limitations and of course they will belong. -Richard Bach, Illusions
I have a machine with the same problem
XP Professional: Version 5.1 (Build 2600
I installed the update for Windows XP (KB969084).
It does not, but a reboot is required because the system is running on the old dll
MSTSC.exe works now
Thanks for the info!

Original title: repair/restore of windows?, a little confused?
My brother has problems with his computer. It happens that windows didn't start because the following file is missing/windows/system32/config/system. I need to know how to do this, but for some time.
On the sites, some say not to use get it back? (is that right?) Here's what they say. He has not brought his xp disk, I tried an iso online but lacks the EULA. I have a windows xp update here somewhere, thatt allow me to fix his system?I basically have to hit enter then press R? Thank youPress Enter to start the configuration of Windows.
do not choose "to repair an installation of Windows XP using the Recovery Console, press on R", (do not want to load the Recovery Console). I repeat, do not choose "to repair an installation of Windows XP using the Recovery Console, press on R.
- Accept the license agreement and Windows will search for existing installations of Windows.
- Select the XP installation you want to repair in the list, press Rto start the repair. If the repair is not one of the options, END of installation

Hello
I get the following message appears when I try to start a remote desktop connection (the shortcut target is % windir%\system32\mstsc.exe).
This used up until one of my pc, including all upgrades of Windows reinstalled.
It is on a Windows 7 pc with all the service packs and updates.
The system cannot find the specified file. C:\WINDOWS\system32\
\mstsc.exe.MUI I have a Dutch version of Windows. The mstsc.exe.MUI file is available in C:\Windows\System32\nl-NL
It was not available in C:\Windows\System32\nl, but after that I copied it on I still get the same message.
I even copied the entire content of the... \nl_NL folder in the... weather folder and still no luck.
Isearched the internet for more solutions but nothing has solved the problem.
Thank you
John-Pierre
OK problem solved.
I ran the scan of the updated and all updates already installed.
I checked the list of updates installed and already had KB2592687, KB2574819 installed.
However, when I looked under installed updates, it showed KB2592687 and 3 others in English while I have a Dutch version of Windows.
So I decided to uninstall the updates English 3 so I could reinstall it again.
"Note that after uninstalling these 3, Remote Desktop already worked again.
Apparently, these 3 uninstalling uninstalled a lot more, because after a reboot, there were 10 updates available instead of only 3 that I uninstalled). And after installing them and another restart there was even more updates available. Overall, it took three update sessions and restarts all up-to-date again.
Although the list of installed updates again 3 updates in English, Remote Desktop works now. So obviously something has went wrong with one of the previous sessions of Windows Update.

Hello, I use Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1 on a Lenovo H5 Series with a 3.50 Ghz Intel (r) Core, 6 GB of RAM, an operating system to 64-bit and a hard drive Go 906.
At startup, a message with these 2 messages:
Error in C:Windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\LXCGtime.dll
Missing entry:_runDLLentry@16
What should I do to clear this up?
Thank you for your response.
Lexmark should provide all drivers for their own printers if they support him on W7.
See its page for assistance for your printer model.
It - http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=content&id=OS3&locale=EN&userlocale=EN_US - suggests the correct 32 or 64 bit Vista driver should work if there isn't one available W7.

This probably means that you need to reinstall or update your drivers for Lexmark printers. Download a new game for your model ofhttp://support.lexmark.com/index?page=home&locale=EN&userlocale=EN_US&segment=DOWNLOAD

As I have used Acrobat reader to view the PDF files for the years. I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 from XP. I tried to search a PDF file to a Word and it always happens with none found even if I search for a word that appears in the document, that I'm looking. Any advice?
