What is the right icc profile for JPEG taken from DNG files?

Are they always sRGB, or something else? must they assigned to colors to correctly interpret an icc profile? the correct profile is available in the form of metadata can be read using exiftool or such?

Profile/color space can be anything - there is a tag called "PreviewColorSpace" DNG that allows to:

  • 0 = unknown
  • 1 = gray Gamma 2.2
  • 2 = sRGB
  • 3 = adobe RGB
  • 4 = proPhoto RGB

Good practice would be to set an ICC profile on the preview, but I don't think that there is no obligation in this regard.

  • What is the size range expected for a Captivate 8 .swf file?

I'm working on a project where our .swf around 30 MB files, which seemed reasonable compared to those that I produced for a previous customer, working also in 8 Captivate. However, the LMS say it's too much, because a 1-2 MB Flash files are considered as large.

A typical course is 40 slides, linked to a PowerPoint presentation. By compressing the images in the .pptx to 96 DPI and Captivate editing to low quality, I reduced the file size to 15 MB.

These file formats are great for Captivate?

15MB is very reasonable! I worked with much larger files. I think that your LMS people is a bit 'dated '? Especially if you have audio files, 1-2MB is almost impossible. They probably think of small animations, not interactive courses.

  • What is the right configuration of the port for my Photosmart C6180 using 32-bit Windows 8?

    Hi all

I have a HP Photosmart C6180. I recently changed to Windows 8 32-bit. I downloaded the HP Windows 8 drivers, but I still have problems with the printer. In Control Panel, the printer status says "error".  I think that it could possibly be a problem with the printer port settings. So, my question is, what is the right configuration of the port for my Photosmart C6180 using 32-bit Windows 8?

I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks, JoeRocket

  • What is the right way to add a language?

    Hello
I wanted to show traditional Chinese web pages with Chinese characters
    (for example, hk.yahoo.com).

I walked into the tab Control Panel / regional and language options/languages
and choose "install files for East Asian languages".   He asked for the XP CD,
installed something and seemed to work.

However, it seems to have turned on a few items for the language entry,
from what I see in the boot options.  I don't want to enter the Asian languages,
show only the Chinese web pages.

What is the right way to set up and get rid of all this stuff related to the input method?
    (the first 4 points here)

    http://ImageShack.us/photo/my-images/341/StartupItems.jpg/

    Richard,
I have done work similar to what I described.

I deselected "install files for East Asian languages" as I mentioned above,.
removed startup items which appeared in msconfig (you can see the 4 in the JPG I posted)
and restarted.  What this does in fact, I'm not sure.
Is it uninstalled or disabled just something, I'm not the wisest.
    (For example, the fonts themselves)

I open IE8 and went to a page where the Chinese characters should be displayed.
Instead of characters, the text appeared as small squares. But after playing with
view/encoding, it began to appear normally.  What ever he did, he also worked for Firefox.
I found a page posted elsewhere mentioned IE8 can you will prompt to download the
Chinese police if it is not installed.  This moved not, makes me wonder if it was
    there all along.

Of course, all the other windows dialog boxes and other parts of the interface.
are English, as it should.  As far as I know, looks like it works the way
    I wanted to.

On a 32-bit vista business system, what is the right way to recover from a damaged NTLDR file that prevents the system from booting?

Have you had a glance at this startup repair disk?

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.

It is NOT a disc of resettlement.

  • What is the best color space for workflow photo where the goal is marketing and selling prints?

What is the best color space for workflow photo where the goal is marketing and selling prints?

The really important thing here is not work in the color space. The important thing is that you set up your calibration targets so they correspond to the document that you are printing on. This means that the white monitor should be a Visual match white paper and black monitor a match to the density of the ink max for the paper.

But to answer the question - assuming that you print on an inkjet printer, Adobe RGB should cover most of what the printer can reproduce on a glossy paper of good quality. If you have or get a range wide screen you will also be able to see the range of the file to the screen and you can then test your profile to print with confidence that "what you see is what you get".

Some will say that good inkjet reproduce some colors that are in fact outside the Adobe RGB, and so you have to work in ProPhoto. While technically true, this superior to Adobe RGB color range is very small and very limited and IMO a fairly minor concern.

  • What is the best 'color settings' for documents 4 colors Photoshop 9.0 for eventual printing on a printer? Thanx

What is the best 'color settings' for documents 4 colors Photoshop 9.0 for eventual printing on a printer? Thank you, Scott

The 'best' color settings are profile and end points specified by your lithographer. You can see that the work will be produced in CMYK mode, it can specify a RGB. (One of the reasons why it might ask for an RGB file and perform the conversion itself is so that it can prevent its competitors its CMYK settings that apply to the GCR, generation of black [ramp] and limit of total ink regarding specific paper.) Its recommendation may also vary depending on your choice of paper and the surface of the paper. If the choice of the particular lithographer cannot be done at this time, it is generally acceptable to provide the Adobe RGB file with the default settings of Photoshop.
