What is the speed of disk on the Satellite P200-155?

Hello

I'm interesting on Satellite P200-155 or Satellite P200-143, but I do not know the speed of the hard drive.
What is the speed of the hard drive in this model? 4200 RPM or 5400 RPM?
Thank you

PS: Sorry for my English :)

Hello

The P200 series is very new and as far as I know for several weeks on the market.
These new generation laptops use a newer HARD disk i/o.

After a lengthy investigation on several websites, I discovered that this laptop comes with a 160 GB 5400 RPM SATA HDD!

Hope I could help ;)

Adiós ;)

    Hello

Do you mean the basic Score of Vista?

As far as I know the index Score of Base supports an index from 1 to 6 (6 copies)
This index provides information on the performance of the computer and how fast the unit is.

The problem is that the P100 series was delivered with different hardware specifications and therefore the base score can be different.

  • HARD drive and memory upgrade on the Satellite P200 - 17 c

    Hello

I own Satellite P200 17 c. My current memory is DDR2 PC2-5300 2 GB. I would like to upgrade to DDR2 PC2 - 6400 4 GB of ram. I can do and it's going to be some speed improvements, if I update to PC2-6400 PC2-5300 instead?

I have 2 hard drives on my P200 17 c. 2 x 100 GB. I want to upgrade one of these two HD ranging from 100 GB to 320 GB 5400 RPM. can I do this? and it'll be a difference if I update with HD who has 7200 RPM?

    Thank you

First of all: your machine is able to handle a maximum capacity of 4 GB RAM, but please be aware that you won´t be able to use all of the 4 GB due to some limitations of the chipset that are explained in the following article: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB82022E0000R01.htm

Regarding the speed of module: chipset specifications are defined for PC5300, so it will not improve your speed when you install faster modules.

If you want to upgrade your hard drive then do as you like, because it shouldn´t be any restrictions, you can install a drive with 7200 RPM with a slower.

The only difference will be that the faster drive faster. The performance of the entire system would increase only when you´re install your operating system on the disk more fast (which is the recommendation of my side :))

  • Re: A few questions about the Satellite P200 - 1FC

    Hi people,

died on my trusty laptop and I need a new. The P200 - 1FC seems to do the trick, and I have a few questions that I hope this is the right place for.
Is there a hardware switch (or key combination) to disable the touchpad? Y at - it an indicator of the State of the touchpad?
Is there a hardware switch to inactivate the wireless network components?
Is it possible to add physical memory to the dedicated graphics card?

I know you can Filch system memory to increase the available for graphics operations, but is it more logical to add system memory or add graphics memory.

What is the equipment for the memory locations system config factory base with 2 GB of RAM? There are 4 slots or 2? Are they all filled?

How is it difficult to "downgrade" to XP machine? Will there be XP drivers available for all components?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello

I m P200 not owner, but I'll try to answer your questions.

    > Is there a hardware switch (or key combination) to disable the touchpad?
Yes, the FN + F9 key combination should enable and disable the touchpad!

    > Is it an indicator of the State of the touchpad?
Well, in the taskbar you should get a notification icon if the touchpad has been disabled

    > Is there a hardware switch to inactivate the wireless network components?
Yes, the WLan switch is available on laptop computers (probably on the front).

    > Is it possible to add physical memory to the dedicated graphics card?
No, the graphics card supports an its own local cache. Graphics cards support also hyper memory. This memory hyper depends on the amount of main memory. Total video memory is the sum of the local cache and Hyper memory.
But once again; physical memory cannot be added.

    > What is the load out for the locations of system memory in config factory base with 2 GB of RAM? There are 4 slots or 2? Are they all filled?
There are 2 slots of memory and the laptop has been delivered with 2x1024Mo modules.
The laptop supports 4 GB max memory, but as much as I know Windows 32 bit does recognize only 3.02 GB due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS!

    > How is it hard to "downgrade" to XP machine? Will there be XP drivers available for all components?
It of not difficult to downgrade the laptop to the XP operating system.

  • Procedure for starting and long stop on the Satellite P200 - 10 c

    I have a Satellite P200 - 10 c and I bought this laptop with pre-installed Vista Home Premium.
Everything works fine, but it takes a long time for the computer to boot. Same thing with shut down and restart.
    Is this normal?

    * amaster *, it has nothing to do with the laptop - that's Vista. You would be to optimize your system.
    1. disable UAC (run msconfig on Tools choose disable UAP, where getting the message "Command completed successfully" - restart)
    2. turn off some visual effects: go to control panel / system / advanced system settings / Advanced tab / Performance settings / Visual effects (default tab) and disable the following list:
Animate controls and elements inside windows
Menu fade or slide into view
ToolTip fade or slide into view
    Fading of items after clicking
    Show shadows under menus
    Show shadows under mouse pointer
    Show translucent selection rectangle
Drag the open drop-down list boxes
    Drag the task bar buttons
    3. optimize virtual memory: first remove the existing file - control panel/system/advanced system settings/advanced/performance-settings/advanced/Virtual Memory-change... mark "No. Paging File." Reset. Then create the new paging file - Control Panel/System/advanced system settings/advanced/performance-settings/advanced/Virtual Memory-change... do fixed Page File with size equal to: amount of physical memory (RAM) + 1 GB. If you have two hard drives - best create the pagefile on no system disk. The min and max sizes of pagefile should be equal - not different.
4 turn off System Restore. (Start / computer/properties/Advanced Settings/System Protection.) If UAC will ask you confirmation - allow)
    5. turn off the Hibernation (start programs/guest/in the context menu, choose "Run as Administrator" and in the command line write * powercfg OFF h *)
    6. cut unused services (do not turn it off completely - do, then manually run)
    7 edit the registry:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
    MenuShowDelay = 0 (default 400)
    AutoEndTasks = 1
    HungAppTimeout = 1000
    WaitToKillAppTimeout = 1000
    LowLevelHooksTimeout = 1000

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro L]
In all three destinations: WaitToKillServiceTimeout and make 5000 (default 20000)

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\PriorityControl]
    Win32PrioritySeparation = 6 (default value 2)

And so on and so forth... Actually-, it is a never-ending story...

  • Built in microphone does not work on the Satellite P200 - 17 c

    Help, please.

    I have a Satellite P200 - 17 c. Windows Vista Edition home premium, 32-bit operating system.
Sometimes, the built-in mic works then ceases to make Skype, useless msn. The webcam works fine but with no microphone. I've updated the driver, uninstalled and reinstalled several times that I care to remember.

Sometimes it's the microphone works for a short period, then it goes silent. In the sound control panel bit is shows as working properly, but it's not.
    Please help me.

Is preinstalled OS original OS that you got with your laptop.

It is still problematic to discuss problems that sometimes occur. Have you checked the mic Skype or MSN options when this happens?

Check in the sound options > recording devices is mic is enabled and set as default device. So try something and you should see the reaction on the green light. Is there a reaction?

  • Intel VT in the Bios of the Satellite P200-13F disabled?

    Hello

I just bought a toshiba Satellite P200-13F and now I discover that the Vitrualization can be turned on in the BIOS.

Can someone tell me if Toshiba plans to release a BIOS with this feature supported? I want to use the machine for virtualization with XEN.

    Thanks in advance,
    Michael

    Hi people,

I think toshiba hasn´t integrated into the bios again. Maybe the option is available because the bios images are perhaps a chipset manufacturer, but they just didn t allowed them cause they did not apply all the routines of VT in the bios to handle VT-stuff of the Chipset/CPU.

It's just a really wild theory on VT in computers laptop toshiba and I Don t know when they will do so and release a bios where you can activate it.

  • Question about recovery "disk 2" for Satellite P200

Just brought a Satellite P200 there vista home premum, a recovery disc1 but no disc2 recovery, how can I get disc2 or should it have been supplied by Toshiba?

    Hello

so why do you need recovery disc2. Are you sure that a disc 2 has been delivered with this machine? Have you ever tried to retrieve this machine with the error message this disc 2 has been inserted to?

If you buy a new machine and there is the General you have then I think it will be any just sense the cd are delivered with the machine.

Anyone know what it means the little satellite icon, when it is displayed in the status indicators? It is to the left of the ring style indicator. • What of the Satellite P30?

    Hello

I'm the owner of a new Satellite P30-J002 (in Australia), which has a processor of 3.33 P4 with a Mobility Radeon 9700 128 MB and 17 "widescreen (1680 x 1050). I wanted to find out as much as possible about it, but could not find any discussion on the P30 in these forums. It is a very unpopular model? Or does go under another name of model?

One thing that interests me is if there is an option to set the display of the Panel to scale by keeping the proportions locked when viewing in a lower resolution to 1680 x 1050 native? In my view, that this is que cela s' appelle called 'fixed proportions scaled' or something similar.

Also, is there a PDF manual describing all the BIOS settings available?

    Thanks for any help,
    Damian.

    Hello

Sorry, the forum is a European forum of Toshiba, there is mainly discussed European models, indeed there are the United States and Asian models, but not as much as the Europeans.

I had looked through the internet and concluded that the European P30 - 1xx are also specificcated with a P4 3.06 up to 3.46 Ghz, Radeon Mobility 9700 is available with 64 and 128 MB and there are only 17 "wide screen with 1440 x 900.

  • Update BIOS password on the Satellite P200

    Hello

I had a model number P200 laptop computer satellite PSPB6E-03G02TEN fongr in the last two months.

On the navigation of the Toshiba support and dowloads I looked up my model etc number to see what that downloads were available. Is he saying there were several updates and the other that it was an update of the bios. As the current bios was for 2007 and it was for 2008, I thought I might as well upddate.

Being a beginner and not realizing how the bios is on a computer - and there is nothing to say it needed an expert--I have conclusive to download.

I thought it was going well and he came to my computer to restart. However, when it happened it says it need a password and did doesn't have a clue what they were talking about. The recovery disk has failed.

I contacted Toshiba and I now have to take the laptop to a Toshiba service repairman here in Poole, Dorset.

I am now worried in case I've done something that invalidate my warranty.

Why Toshiba do not send these updates if they can do this damage in inexperienced hands. I'm angry at myself and would not have hit with a barge pole if I had know the importance of the bios. I know that I will never touch it again.

    Would appreciate some sympathy.

    Katymay

    Hello

I understand your situation. You´re worried but not just for you, also about Toshiba why they release these updates for important parts of a computer that do not work correctly.
Don t worry, you do nothing wrong. Your warranty would be invalid after that. The repair will be covered by the warranty of your machine and after that nothing cannot be revoked or not valid. So Don t worry, the guys in the shop/repair service center will fix this and I hope that you´re not worried to do a BIOS update next time.

I promise you it happened only once and you don t have doubts if it will never happen. I mean, I have computers laptop toshiba for years and I have never such problems. With this bios password, I found a big problem the first time Toshiba and I hope that they won´t remake such a failure.

    Welcome and good weekend

  • Cannot retrieve the Satellite P200-123 - IMAGEX error message

    Hello

I HAVE A LAPTOP TOSHIBA P200-123 AND I AM DOING A RECOVERY, BUT FOR SOME REASON, IT IS ABOUT 19 TO 26% AND THEN RETURNS WITH AN ERROR SAYING THAT IT COULD
IS NOT APPLICABLE TO IMAGEX AND I'M AT A LOSE WHAT TO DO.

IS THERE ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM.

    Hello Erin

It is not easy to say why this happens because this error message occurs for different issues.
One thing can be the reason for this.

If I well remember when you start the recovery option it must be key SETUP (next step after the confirmation of the language). Maybe you're trying to use installation option OS on the existing partition).
I tested it a long time ago, and I can confirm that this will not work. What is happening is very strange.
What is happening, it's a procedure facility trying to install the OS on partition WinRE (Vista). This partition is 1.5 GB only and after 20 or 30% facilities simply stops.
Maybe you try to do this. I do not know.

Try using the installation of recovery with the default settings. Don't change anything in the configuration option.
Test if you please and let me know exactly what is happening.

  • How to install Vista using product from the bottom of the Satellite P200 key?

    Hi all

I recently had to replace my HARD drive as my P200 took a fatal error, corrupt all the data on the old HARD drive. I have no recovery at all disks, (none were provided), and I was wondering how am I supposed to do to reinstall Vista using my product from the bottom of the laptop key? Can anyone give any help please?
As I read other related topics, I feel I need to approach Toshiba and buy a restore CD, at my expense. Is this correct?

    Thank you

    Lee

    Hello

If you didn't burn the recovery disc after the purchase of your computer, you will need to order it for the money. , Talking Vista using my product key from the bottom of the laptop, this is not any type of key on recver Vista, this is a serial number of your computer. You can also install the original copy of Windows with the drivers of Toshiba page.
