What is Windows 64 - bit OS Runj on The Atom?

I see the files listed in the section update files for the NB205-N311/W which are for versions Windows 32 and 64-bit Windows. What is this means that 64 bit versions of Windows 7, Vista and XP will install on the NB205-N311/W?

I know that Toshiba U.S. Announces 64-bit drivers in their download section, but the ATOM processor is a 32-bit processor, it cannot run the 64 bit OS. Now with NB200/NB205s or we receive Hyper-threading :)

Any old copy of Windows XP that could be installed in the host system? If you do not, it should be available at a modest price of an online seller. Perhaps (I'm not too), even an old Windows 98 TO work. The game (using a 3D engine) will not work under pure DOS, so you need a Windows environment so that it can work. Just FYI: If you get this old classic to run, new issues may arise. Known are the "mss32.dll" runtime error (you may need to replace this file with the newer version of SW:KOTOR 1) and the issue of video cutscenes (the games uses an obsolete video codec, Smacker - either you find an old *.) DLLS for it or have you convert movies in a modern format).

In conclusion: get old games to run on software/hardware modern (it is not only a problem of BONE) is one of the most fascinating and rewarding challenges to a real fan. But do not expect it will not be easy "out of the box" (or simply insert a CD).

  • Change windows 32-bit to 64-bit 8

I have examined various questions and answers on a similar theme, but don't think I've seen quite a response.

I've recently upgraded to Vista 32 bit for windows 32 bit 8 after buying the DVD. However, my processor will support 64-bit operation.
Can I use the 64-bit disc that came with the dvd to my HARD drive for windows 64 bits 8 upgrade.

With a product key, you can have a single operating system using this product key.  If you want the 32-bit and 64-bit on the same machine so you will need two product keys.

When you format the Partition with the 32-bit Windows 8 installed on it, Yes, you would lose all the data on that Partition of 32 bits, including all windows startup files.  However, when you install then the 64-bit in the Partition formatted (hard disk), and if you have the bootable media for installing the 64-bit OS new Boot files are created.

If you have already used the product key that came with Windows 8, you are more likely to fail the normal Activation of Windows, which means you need to take the option, then provided by Windows, activate by phone.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/32-bit-and-64-bit-Windows-frequently-asked-questions

My PC running the 32-bit version or 64-bit Windows?
          http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/find-out-32-or-64-bit

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-7

Windows 7 64 bit comes in handy when you need to deal with at least 4 GB of RAM or more. Windows 7 32 bit can use up to 3.2 GB of RAM. Because the address space of memory is much larger for 64-bit Windows, this means that you need two times more memory than the 32-bit Windows to accomplish some of the same task, but you are able to do much more, you can have more apps open, do things like run a virus scan in the background it will affect the performance of your system. 64-bit Windows 7 is safer too, malicious code cannot easily infiltrate it, drivers are more reliable because they must be signed before it can work with 64 bit Windows 7.

Regarding compatibility, you need device drivers 64-bit hardware devices, you may have. In addition, there is no 16-bit subsystem in Windows 7 64-bit, which means, your applications must be 32-bit only, not 16-bit Installer or programs uninstaller. Also, if you decide to switch to Windows 7 64 bit in the future, there is no way to upgrade from 32-bit Windows, clean install only.

    Migration from 32 to 64-bit

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

    http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/07/using-Windows-easy-transfer-in-Windows-7/

Boot from the DVD 64 bit Windows 7
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)
Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:
The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.
(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • Palm Desktop 4.2: Palm Desktop 4.2 on Windows 32-bit 10

This isn't a question, some information for fanatical Palm users who might be interested.

Because I have some old software I want to continue to use, I installed the 32-bit version of Windows 10 on my HP Pavilion 1d21dx g6.

I used to synchronize my Palm Centro on a machine to Vista 32 bit running Palm Desktop 6.2. Because some very useful features (such as the birthday in the calendar reminders) disappeared in this version, after setting up 10 32-bit Windows, I decided to try to use Palm Desktop 4.2, the version supplied with my Centro. I am happy to report that I have installed the software, did a HotSync, and everything went very well [WELL, i thought THAT this was the CASE - SEE below]. Now I have all my stuff on the phone and on the machine Windows 10, complete with birthday in the calendar reminders.

The only problem that I had was settting place pipes HotSync for some Palm OS with counterparts of office applications, but in any case, I was able to get the pipes installed by the application of counterpart temporarily running in Windows XP compatibility mode. Once the pipes are put in place, it seem to not need to run anything in compatibility, or administrator mode [WRONG - SEE below].

I have not heard a lot about the 32-bit version of Windows 10, but I like it. I found that it is very fast, and I still have to find an old Windows application that she will not be executed.

I found a solution that worked for me. I realized that something on my setup of Palm caused my Palm user directory switch between C:\Program Files\Palm\Username and C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Palm\Username, leading to duplicate reports, missing documents and the General problems of HotSync. I do not know what exactly triggers the switch every time (I don't think it was just the question of admin rights as I at first suspected), but I think it had to do with some of my Palm to be older than other applications. In other words, some were apparently designed or implemented to date with new versions of Windows in mind, while others were not, and HotSync Manager could not deal with that, because I had everything installed.

In any case, everything started to work properly after I installed Palm Desktop 4.2 directly in the folder C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Palm\

(Of course, in all the above examples, substitute your own "Username" username.)

My thought was to avoid the switch between the location of the traditional repertoire of the Palm and the location of the user directory style Vista by installing Palm software directory in the Vista style directory. I have not experienced any important matter. The only minor issue I have is that HotSync Manager does not automatically start despite being listed in the Startup tab in the Manager of tasks. I'm not going to tinker with compatibility modes and privileges trying to HotSync Manager starts when the computer starts. It is easy enough to just run it whenever I have to synchronize.

You will also need to consider the order in which you install your office-side applications. For example, I found that one of my apps should be executed only once with admin rights so that he could establish his lines. Which seems to trigger a change in the location of the user directory for another application that I use - that does not allow the user to specify an installation directory. I got around this by implementing these apps in the order that I mentioned, while the other user directory would not be changed after creating the first led her.

Of course, my solution has its limits, but it works for my single-user installation.

  • Satellite new C660-1F1 windows 64-bit - cannot use graphics editing software

Hi guys... any help appreciated... This is the message that I sent with Toshiba, but they take their time to get back to me:

    Important information: Satellite C660-1F1

    -Intel® Core i3 - 380 M processor

-39.6 cm (15.6 ") TruBrite® HD (1366 x 768) high brightness display with LED back light with aspect ratio 16:9

Hello... I bought my phone from Argos a month ago, and it has a warranty of 2 years. I have a big problem - 2 graphics main editing programs I use do not work. Corel Paintshop Photo Pro x 3 and Adobe CS5 can also be installed and opened, but as soon as I try to save a picture or change a picture both of the programs crash and I must close by using end task in Task Manager.

It happened when I installed the full versions of both programs that I bought and it also occurs when you download the trial versions of the Corel and Adobe download sites. I've been on the help so many forums for both adobe and corel and the most useful pointer came from one of the creators of Adobe - a Chris Cox.

Very logically, it said as it happened to both of these packages that it was probably a problem with the edition of 2 graphic graphics card drivers or the real hardware graphics card. I bought a 64-bit operating system to manage precisely these 2 programs which can be exhausting on the system. I know that I have only 2 GB of RAM at the moment, but it has happened with other people... who have same 8 GB and 16 GB of RAM which is what I'll have in the next few weeks. However, not if I can't fix this problem. Please can you help/advise the best solution. This seems to be a problem only with 64-bit systems. Adobe and Corel are 64-bit capable.

There is also a message that appears when I open Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended... which is as follows:

... "Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements, visit the manufacturers of video card for the latest version of the software."

I then click this message below... .use of the program, change something, try to save and it crashes. I have gone through all the troubleshooting directions and ran countless diagnosis but it seems to be a common denominator between 2 different programs and it's my laptop Toshiba... I even tried to install another great photo software of edition to test and I got the same result - a crash of the application.

Help, please! Thanking you in advance.

    Kind regards
    John

    Hello John

You already have some response from Toshiba?
What about my friend? In my opinion the best advice you can get from Corel and Adobe. They have the best experience with own products and have probably tested on different hardware platforms.

Computer laptop manufacturers offer models of different laptops with different hardware configurations. Some of them are cheap and available material to the average. The performance is not the best but good enough for every day such as internet activities, office, shipping and so on.
On the other hand, there are laptops fitted with excellent and powerful equipment. Very often, these notebooks cost twice as low-priced budget.

Please don t get me wrong, but your portable C is not one that is suitable for use with this powerful software.
I really put t know that Toshiba can do about it. I guess that you need another graphics driver but support for graphics drivers for laptops is quite limited and I n t think you can do much about it.

What you can try is to download and install the driver from the manufacturer of the graphics card, but you must do it at your own risk.

Sorry friend, but I put t have any other advice for you. I think you ve bought bad laptop for such complex graphical operations. 2 GB OF RAM? I put t know.

    Good luck.
