  I recommend updating the BIOS and the 1st audio driver and then give it a try to see if there is an improvement

  Also how long have you had the laptop?

• Server 2008 R2 installation will not configure on DV7 series laptop

  I installed the Server 2008 R2 on a laptop DV7-7012nr. I upgraded the memory up to 16 GB. I deleted all the partitions, and then divide the hard drive into 2 partitions. Partition 1 is 7 442 Go Windows, Partition 2 is 256 GB server.

  When I install, windows server 2008, in dual boot, it will not complete the configuration for the material. This leaves me the choice either reinstall Windows server 2008 and to come back to the same error or return to windows 7.

  How can I get a dual boot for a full installation of Windows server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition or Standard on my DV7-7012nr laptop?

  After spending 5 days with installing Server 2008 R2 64-bit on this laptop, I contacted the HP Support. Technical support HP and after 4 hours and 7 different technicians, I was informed that they can not help me with the installation of Server 2008 on this laptop. I know it's possible, and I installed Server 08 several times that I can remember. I'll have to this laptop with the conclusion that although HP says that it will work, it will not return.

  Summary; Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit Standard or enterprise will not be installed on the HP Pavilion dv7-7012nr laptop.

  I have a new pavilion dv7-6b55dx laptop and I put windows 7 Professional (64 bit). Since that time (because before there home edition of the best buy store) everytime when I use a function key I don't see no display on the screen, for example, if you want to mute the sound, not sure if it worked or if you want to manage the brightness of the screen, you don't see anything on the screen (icon (, image, etc.).

  Help please! My HP Pavilion dv7-6b77dx laptop will intermittently not restart after his stop. A black screen with the HP logo appears, with "Press esc to start" in the lower left corner. However, by pressing the ESC does nothing. I removed the battery, etc, etc, with no result. It will eventually start after be turned market several times but even in this case takes about 10 minutes. Once he returns to the high Board works fine, including stop and restart. Then out of the blue, the problem reoccur. The OS is Windows 7 64 bit and the laptop is a set of two months. Any thoughts?

  It is possible that your installation of Norton 360 is damaged and this can cause very long start-up times.

  Before you try the following, make sure that you have a way to reinstall Norton and the activation key if you are able to reinstall it.

  To completely uninstall Norton, download and run the Norton Removal Tool relevant to your particular product on the link below.

  When the tool has finished, restart the laptop.

  When windows has completely recharged, let it idle for 10 minutes then restart it again and see if the startup time has improved.

  If she has or not, reinstall Norton 360.

• My DV7 series laptop for a year and a half old keeps freezing while charging.

  So Ive had this laptop (chart below) for about a year and a half now, and last week he suddenly started freezing only while it loads. It happens regardless of the temperature, my graphic choice (radeon or intel) and any other factor. When this happens, I can still move my mouse to the screen, but everything else is frozen (bar tasks will not fall down as normal, background turn, monitor cpu is not update. im not very experienced in solving a problem like this, but I don't know my way around my PC so I can easily get the necessary additional info.)

  Temperatures are good and I will await the outcome of memtest.

  The only problem I see is AVG.

  AVG is that a virus scanner which often gives trouble.

  Why? It is not the best antivirus and gives wrong with HijackThis.

  HijackThis is a tool of advanced securety used by malware specialists. And AVG is not the complete package.

  Yust a assume that you use the Windows Firewall? If Yes this isn't good eunogh for threats.

  Another assumption:

  You do not run on Java 8.

  Please uninstall all versions of java and download this new version.

  I recommend Avast 7 free + free Online Armor + Secunia PSI 3.0 and Java 8

  If you plan to install Avast it please let me know. You will need to disable something in Avast, otherwise there will be trouble with Online armor free.

  For now, it works on Windows7 Home Premium 64 - Bit with 6 GB (4 + 2) RAM PC3-10600 of SAMSUNG, but my RAM usage is generally higher than 53% (in surfing the web... Not even when you use heavier programs like Adobe Photoshop, then it stings through the roof...) ...

  Could I spend 2 x 8 GB RAM SAMSUNG PC3 - 10600 (so 16GB total)...?

  The description of the laptop written maximum 8 GB (2 x 4 GB), but it was in the time that 4 GB was the maximum on the RAM memory that existed...

  Hope you can help me out (& give a positive, if possible)...

  I read a lot of posts here on decommissioning the DV7 series latpop XPP Windows.  What I've not seen my model of th is mentioned DV7 series.  I have DV7 - 1243CL.  I was able to actually cross the Windows XP installation by creating the XP installation disk with the sata drivers.  I have a few drivers installed, but I have a lot of yellow question marks in Device Manager.  Anyone know where I can get all the XP drivers for this laptop?  I got this phone 2 days ago and I spent the majority of these 2 days of combing this Council and google looking for drivers.  There isn't a lot there, so I decided to post this request.  Thanks in advance for any help you can give.  I like much this laptop, but the idea of having to run Vista is very discouraging.  In case it is useful to have the part number, it is NB234UAR #ABA.

  Given that the product specifications indicate that your PC has the i-core processors Intel 2nd generation, you can indeed install 2 x 8 GB of memory (16 GB ttl).

  See Chapter 1, page 5 for the memory info.

  You must make sure that you are buying 2 x 8 GB PC3-10600 (1333 MHz) memory.

  I'm going with the G.Skill but feel free to all desired PC3-10600 memory.

  Question: When I turned off my laptop and leave the ethernet cable is connected, the ethernet light stays on. Remove the cable turns the light off, but put it back brings light on.

  It's supposed to happen, or there at - it a way to stop this?

  You have the Setup "Wake on Lan" in the BIOs? The function to the computer be awakened my network entries. You will need to start in the BIO to disable this feature. You may be able to disable this feature in Windows 7 as well. Here is a good article on how to enable/disable the wake on LAN feature: Wake - on - Lan (WOL) for Windows 7 Made Easy!

  My Pavillion dv7 - 4183cl laptop turns off its own without any warning or error messages and then restarts asking power on the passsord, etc. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. Occurrences are more frequent over time.

  The first thing I would check is your laptop fan. You hear it works while the laptop is on, or it is disabled? If the fan fails, the laptop overheats. To protect themselves, the laptop turns off. It could also be that you have little dust blocks the air fan. The best option is to have someone to disassemble the laptop and clean, but some people have managed with the help of compressed air. The problem with this is that it blows back into the laptop. Perhaps vacuum?

  A farily common problem with most laptops is the integrated graphics processors. Over time, the GPU becomes disattached from the motherboard. If this happens, the laptop will be closed or does not start at all. Generally however, there isn't a lot of attention if that is the case, the computer stops working one day.
