  • Satellite P100-332: Upgrade HARD drive and 4 GB of RAM

    Hello

    I'm new to the forum...
Well, I want to change 2 things on my Toshiba Satellite P100-332

    1. I have 2 GB of RAM at 533 mhz and I saw on Everest, as well as on the information that I put up. 4 GB RAM 667 mhz. If I want to ask if theres no limitation about to use a special brand of RAM? Or can I use any laptop RAM to 667 mhz? I buy 2 DIMM 2 GB 667, to stay with 4 GB RAM 667 mhz.

2 - my laptop came with a 4200 RPM ATA hard drive and I want to know if I can change my hard drive to another as one with 7200 RPM SATA as a http://www.pcvonline.com/productDetails.aspx?prodID=7434 and I have not seen yet if the Board supports, but does anyone know if I can put one like this?

    Hello

    (1) the Satellite P100-332 RAM can be upgraded up to 4 GB and you can also use the modules of 667 Mhz because AFAIK the FSB supports 667 MHz also.
But the fact is that Windows 32-bit (Vista and XP) would see only 3.2 GB due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS.

    (2) the laptop supports the SATA HDD controller and this is why you must use a SATA HDD. But usually it s no matter if the HDD SATA supports the 7200 RPM. In my opinion, you should be able to use these 7200 RPM HARD drive.

  • Crisis of the BIOS Recovery on Satellite P100

    Hello

Usual story. Windows (WinPhlash) BIOS updated was wrong and my P100 is dead.
I fell on the collection procedure of the crisis that should work on any laptop Phoenix BIOS based.

However, I either do something wrong or the motherboard is blown more than I expected.
In my case, I follow the procedure carefully, but my P100 won't enter in crisis recovery mode at all.
He's not even trying to access/boot USB floppy drive.

I just tested with A100 my wife and all the readers (HD, DVD and floppy drive) light their LEDs right after turning on the laptop, if the floppy drive works fine. When I press the power button on my P100, fans begin to turn, turn hard drive (and heater for chipset gets hot after awhile), but by pressing Fn + B or Win + B as described in procedure of CR does not any change in the behavior of the laptop. Floppy drive is Toshiba, marked, so there should be no compatibility issues. Voltage all the USB ports, but somehow my P100 refuses to access the floppy drive at startup.

    Any help?

  • What memory can I add to my Satellite P100-119?

    Hello..

I would like to add new modules of memory to my P100-119. Initially, it contains 2 Modules of Elpida, PC2 4200 (DDR2-533) with 512 MB per module. I would upgrade to 2 GB RAM and I have purchase 2 Modules of MDT, PC5300 (DDR2-667) with 1024 MB per module.

I've built in the new Modules, but the screen remains blank, the system does not boot... BIOS is the newest Version 4.20 since November 2007 a the integrated Intel 945 PM Chipset Express also supports the DDR2-667 Modules.

Where is the problem? Is - this incompatible RAM with the laptop?

    Hello Matze

I presume that there is compatibility problem. If you want to have high quality and 100% compatible RAM module use:

    1 GB memory PC2 DDR2 (667 MHz) PA3512U-1M1G
    2 GB memory PC2 DDR2 (667 MHz) PA3513U-1M2G

  • Satellite P100 - 332 (PAGE) overheating

    Dear Sir

About 6 months ago I bought the Toshiba P100-332 (PAGE) with the intention to run several programs such as photoshop for my work and some (mainly counterstrike) games for entertainment.
The laptop is equipped with a dual core clocked at 2.33 GHZ and it has 2 GB of memory RAM and he has the geforce go 7900 GS.

After using the laptop mainly for photoshop, I have not noticed any problems, but when a friend of mine invited me to participate a counterstrike game I noticed (when you're sitting in front of the laptop) becomes it the topleft
90 to 100 degrees that seriously slows down my game and applications running in windows. I'm not a genius in these things, but I have tried all kinds of drivers, updated my bios, bought a cooler way and all that
in both windows vista and windows xp but it all makes no difference. I downloaded speedfan and he told me that my GFX, temp remote and local (when running a game) run up to 95 almost 100 degrees which is
seriously, not good for a laptop I have for about 6 months.

I'm still in my one year warranty so maybe it's my last option, but the problem is that I need this laptop every day for my job and if I return
so I can't start my business for at least 3 months, because it's the time needed the return of a provider of decent service to send it...

Long story short, is there anyone who knows what I'm looking for here or how I can fix this problem besideds return to a point of service of toshiba?

    Best regards

    Mark

Looks like its just overheating. Get a can of compressed air and blow out the dust through the ventilation openings. Or if there is a lot of dust accumulation, you might send to an ASP and bring to disassemble the laptop to remove dust correctly.

    Hello

I put t know when new Vista drivers are available for P100 but the Vista drivers for some A100 series have been already published. I think that it s a great sign and I think we should get the drivers in the next time

By the way: on Toshiba Canada site you will also find the P100 series and there are some Vista drivers listed. There, you can also search and new graphics driver. Don t know if it is compatible with you series, but verification is free ;)

  • What's new in the aviable for Satellite A100-PSAA9 Bios?

    I canoe found a chanlog :(

    Hey Bela

What you're looking for? You need information about the new version of BIOS or what?
Currently, you can find a newer version of the BIOS on Toshiba page.
I checked the site and it seems that the 5.10 version was published on 25/01/07 and operating system independent.
Unfortunately, you won't find information about the change of the new version of the BIOS.
It seems European Toshiba site doesn't provide details.

  • What is the correct bios for my Satellite A100? Is PSAA9E = PSAA9?

    Hello
I want to do a BIOS update. But if I go to the Toshiba driversite: http://de.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_bios.jsp and choose portable--> Satellite--> a series are listed:

    A100 (PSAA2)
    A100 (PSAA8)
    A100 (PSAA9)
    A100 (PSAAN)
    A100 (PSAAR)

At the undersite of my laptop is printed: PSAA9E. Is this the same as PSAA9?

    Hi mate,

Don t worry and download the PSAA9 bios toshiba cuts the last digits of the model number as the last digit probably the region or the country described. I don't know, but what I know is definitely PSAA9E than PSAA9.

Any help? Any suggestion, any idea?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

Hmmm what to say. Sounds not good and in my opinion, looks like you have successfully updated the laptop computer with a bad BIOS or something went wrong during the BIOS update process
Are you sure you used the right BIOS of 110%?

It seems that you will not be able to fix this problem yourself, without any additional help from the laptop technician.
In most cases, the BIOS has to be flashed again on the particular way

For me it s clear, you will need to contact the ASP to get rid of this problem

    Best regards and good luck

  • Satellite P100-196 - Bios (4.80) includes the update of the EC/KBC?

Anyone know if the update of the BIOS of the Satellite P100 (4.80) includes the update of the EC/KBC? I downloaded the BIOS on this site and installed it but it does not show if the EC/KBC has been updated as well.

If there is an update that is separated from the EC/KBC where can I download it?

    Hey mate,

If there is no update EC/KBC special on the Toshiba site, I assume that it s included in the update of the BIOS. I've never seen such an additional update on the official website of Toshiba, so it seems to be a part of the BIOS update. :)

  • Satellite L670-143 - new BIOS available, but what's new?

Since yesterday I get a notice from Toshiba Bulletin Board that a new version of the BIOS is available, version 2.30 - WIN dated from 14/02/12.

Given that I am trying hard and wonder if Toshiba allows users to change the Wifi card by default, I'm interested in what this BIOS update is needed for, if it wasn't for allowing users to install their preferred Wifi adapter I'm totally happy with my current version of BIOS and won't update something that brings something of new or improve anything.

For this purpose: is their any page where people can find out what is new in a new update of the BIOS?
Everything we always get is compressed form. Exe and prechewed message "this update of the Bios adds increased system functionality" on the page to download... but nothing concrete information.

    Hello Moose

In one thing, I agree with you: don t change the BIOS if there is no former radical problem or the system in general. Many people here have reported on the various problems after BIOS update so if you are happy with your laptop and if everything goes perfectly don t change anything.

Problem is that on the European download page you will find information on the update of the BIOS. In other words there is nothing new in the latest version of the BIOS.
It is interesting that Toshiba US offers you this info so I m me where difference between offered things in US and Europe is to ask. I m not an expert for this stuff but there may be reasons relating to the protection of law or customers. I put t know.

What you can do if you have a little time, is to visit the US page under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp > download, find a similar pattern with the same BIOS update and check if you can find useful information here.

At the end once more: don t change anything, if everything works well. I have 2 years old Satellite P500 and use with BIOS and original recovery image. It works perfectly. Best Toshiba laptop I've had over the last 10 years.

What's new in the update of the BIOS v2.00 for Satellite l505-144

    Thank you

    Hi mate

As much as I know European Toshiba driver page does provide no details what has been changed in the BIOS.
But I found some details on the Toshiba U.S. page.
It seems that Fn + N + 1/2/3/4 function of debugging has been removed in 2.0 BIOS to avoid the abnormal behavior of the keyboard.
