  If I touch the screen, the flashing stops sometimes, or the color goes from white to blue.  other strange things:

  sometimes if I keep on pressing against it, it shows a bunch of blue right in the Center, but I have the visible screen on both sides of it.  any window, I opened can be seen partially on 1 half and the rest in the other half.

  Unfortunately the band in the middle in this case takes realestate I can't see my internet connections etc. at the bottom right.

  Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

  You will need to enable the touchpad on the laptop itself.

  Find the area of the touch pad, you will find a button to enable or disable the touchpad.

  If the step above doesn't, try this step.

  Go to control panel > mouse > device settings tab
  Click (or to disable)

  

  Notes:
  On some models, there is a keyboard shortcut to enable or disable the touchpad. For example, ACER, just do Fn + F7.
  You can click on Reset device if none of these solutions work.

  If you still can't touch pad to work, you will need to contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer for more information.

• laptop is slow at the point of being unusable

  In short, my Dell Latitude E4310 laptop is slow at the point of being unusable. I am also unable to keep the Windows Defender service runs.

  Last week I got a screen blue error (code c000021a), probably as a result of an update Windows misapplied. I was able to go back to a previous instance of Windows and apply the patches successfully.

  Here is what I checked / done (not necessarily in that order).

  • My BIOS is the most recent (A11) and BIOS diagnostics to come clean.
  • Several analyses of virus & malware in safe mode came up clean.
  • No problem in Windows Startup Repair.
  • I ran a clean boot without result
    The plan of power seems normal and I uninsalled (temporarily) all anti-virus & malware programs.
  • I ran disk cleanup and defragged the hard drive
  • System, advanced, performance, is assigned to the properties 'adjust for best performance ".
  • My performance index Windows scores range from 6.9 (processor) to 4.1 (graphics).
  • Running a Windows system health report returns nothing.
  • CHKDSK (right click on c:, properties, tools, error checking) did find and fix HARD drive errors. I would fix the CHKDSK and WININIT, newspapers but must be either in my or Admininstrator event logs.
  • I ran SFC. EXE, three times, and each time check fails, then only reach 10%, indicating the following: "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."

  The journal of SFC seems normal except for the following: 2012-09-07 22:30:28, Info CSI 00000023 [SR] could not check component of b10e9bd0c69db5027b503ea3749c28f3 files, Version = 6.1.7600.16820, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), the Culture neutral, VersionScope is 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, neutral, TypeName neutral, clear PublicKey is damaged (FALSE). I can't find a file or folder anywhwere on my system called "b10e9bd0c69db5027b503ea3749c28f3".

  Another forum suggested a clean installation of the factory OEM of Windows.  I would like confirmation or other ideas, because that doesn't seem to be a trivial process.

  Also free www.memtest.org bootable, run for at least 1 hour or xx passes

  You can change the font of the user interface of the options below.

  • On Windows, choose Edition > Preferences > Interface > font size:
  • On Mac OS, choose Lightroom > Preferences > Interface > font size:

  Change font size according to your need.

  You must close out of Lightroom and restart for the change to take effect.

  Try to uninstall the old version of the graphics driver Intel or by reinstalling fix it. It is always best to update the drivers to the latest version you can find on the website of the manufacturer of the computer.   (1) as a general rule, all laptops can be upgraded to an SSD. If the connector on the SSD is the same as the original hard drive connector, it should work.

  (2) I believe there are 1.8 "PATA SSD available, google is your friend.

  (3) I think the R500 is using a connector ZIFF customized for the SSD drive, then you will not be able to install a standard SATA or PATA 2.5 "SSD Drive. I don't know if you can buy SSDS with the connector ZIFF, once again, google can help you.
